Wally's Frozen Custard

Delicious custard and very good chocolate milkshake. The milkshake was slightly too sweet/chocolatey for my taste, but still solid. The twist cone was very good! I’d come back and try something else out. Also have a very cute seating area outside, very reasonable prices, and cute fall/halloween decor!

Took Bosco on a solo walk this morning into a new neighborhood across the street. Lots of new smells!! We took our time and morning turned into afternoon. On our way home we passed Wally's Frozen Custard and Bosco gave a tug on the leash with a let's go look! I told him it wasn't fair but let's go home and get your brother and we will drive back. So, that's what we did! First ice cream of 2026 in the book! Look how Walter is holding his brother's arm, so happy for what is about to happen!!! Needed a dog friendly spot with tasty cold treats. 1st visit of the year, I’m sure it won’t be the last. Giant menu, reasonable prices. Scroll thru Wally’s postings, the options are endless. If you live in the area, you already know this. If you’ve just moved here or you collect ice cream places this place does well with the community, for good reasons. Local kids serving up quality frozen custard on sunny days, at reasonable prices.

A really fantastic custard parlor and maybe still a firehouse? Either way, they have darn good treats. We came with a small group on a nice evening after spotting this place in google maps. The service was really fast and friendly and the prices were fine. I really like the decor and use of the firehouse. Highly recommended for the area.

Good ice cream place. Window to order and pick up. Outdoor seating. Reasonably priced. Only downfall was that they didn’t have brownie bites as a mix in option.

One of the best frozen custard spots in Michigan. Open year round and the choices are plentiful. I also stop here when I’m in saint clair shores and get the s’mores or tropical bowl.

Proper food safety means wearing gloves and hairnets at all times when handling desserts. Better yet observe while it's being prepared. Unfortunately, I found a hair in my banana shake here, which is a red flag. Needless to say, I won't be returning."

Gosh, what isn't there to love about Wally's? 😍 Having lived in Wisconsin, I can emphatically say the custard is out of this world! Peanut butter, pistachio, and mint are three special flavors you cannot miss whenever they're on tap! They also have really fun concoctions like Dubai sundaes or Wally's tacos during special seasons of the year. Their tuna salad sandwich is divine, and their breakfast foods are so good.

My recent visit to Wally's Ice Cream Shop left me thoroughly impressed. The twist cones and the strawberry shortcake, which my daughter added caramel to, were nothing short of delicious! The frozen custard, with its velvety texture and rich flavor, was truly exceptional. Without hesitation, I highly recommend a visit to Wally's.

The pomegranate Dole whip is a wonderful, fruity delight if you're not wanting custard. Having said that, the custard is very good too. The "whirly," custard blended with toppings, comes in almost any combination you can think of. I tried on of the "Christmas in July" specials which was mint custard blended with Oreos. It was a great cool, creamy, and minty treat on a hot day.

I was excited to try Wally's Frozen Custard after having Andy's frozen custard while in Tennessee. My expectations were a bit high going into it so maybe that was my first mistake. First off, when we arrived the place was packed and there was a whole high school team there being rowdy and causing havoc. So that kind of made the vibe off having to deal with energetic teens being as loud and annoying as possible. But we tried our best to ignore it though. The workers took quite a while getting orders out so that didn't help either. My husband and I got their Reese's Wally's Whirly. I actually didn't realize it was Reese's Pieces instead of Reese's peanut butter cups. So I was a bit disappointed when we got our order because I'm not really a huge fan of Reese's Pieces. I had thought we were getting something completely different. I will say, their frozen custard is nothing similar to Andy's. I actually preferred Andy's more because it wasn't as creamy, it was refreshing too. Something really missed the mark with Wally's. Maybe I should have expected it to be like Andy's frozen custard but it was a bit too creamy for me. I get that it's custard but it just wasn't satisfying at all for me personally. I'd just stick with Andy's in all honesty. The experience we had at Wally's mixed with the disappointing custard just wasn't it.

The absolute BEST custard around! (My dog even agrees with their pup cups!) The lemon chiffon custard is one of my faves, but I also loved the black raspberry sundae. It's simple, refreshing, and so dang good! The second pic is to show how dense and creamy the custard is! They also have coffee, pasta salads and soup during the cold months. Super friendly staff, and the fire station building creates a cool atmosphere! Love that they have a drive thru!

Our favorite custard/ soft serve ice cream spot for the summer. They have amazing coffee too. Definitely check them out if you haven't been there. They are also extremely accommodating to gluten allergies and even offer gf cones! They have very cool outside seating with an old fire truck. The kids love it. Highly recommended!

Really good custards and really cheap. worth the drive and the wait if there is one! There is a drive-through and a line you can wait in.

I have been to this ice cream shop many times. It is right by my house and the perfect place to get a sweet treat! The ice cream came very fast service was great, I love the firetrucks they have in the garage next to the ice cream shop, it's such a great touch! I would definitely recommend coming here to get ice cream!!

Bought a pie for Thanksgiving. Easy to get - walk up and order at the outdoor counter. Delicious and different option that the family loved.

I was there with my Granddaughter Ava last night, I had their frozen custard twist, it was the best I ever had, Ava had a got fudge brownie boat, it was huge and she brought half home, I took a bite of her ice cream and it was delicious! My new favorite.

First things first, I'm a chubby fellow, and one of the reasons I'm so chubby is that I love the donuts and (I scream, you scream, we all scream for) ice creams. Along these lines, a friend introduced me to this fine establishment a few years ago. This being the first time I'm reviewing it is shocking and sadly the picture I provided for it is terribly disappointing. Mining through their IG, I saw my absolute favorite, Superman flavor was in play and my excitement was to the moon and back as if the yellow sun of our solar system was powering every cell in my alien body forward faster than a speeding bullet. Alas, alas it must have been an older post because it was not the special after all. I felt if someone had placed a necklace made of kryptonite around my neck and left me to wither and waste. I had to settle for the Reese's pieces Swirly, which don't get me wrong was absolutely fantastic, but still not the same. What you will find about their ice cream is that it's whipped so smooth it's like whipped cream. It's an absolutely fantastic texture and the flavors have all been amazing. I can't imagine anyone would ever be disappointed. I've always heard their dole whip is amazing, but these are rumors I will be testing out.

Happy Pi Day to me! Today we stopped by Wallys, an old staple here in Saint Clair Shores, for a slice of custard Pie. I ordered the cookie dough slice. I may be a little bias, but I'm pretty sure I picked the right one! It was pretty frozen solid, so I let it warm up on the counter for a bit and it was delicious. I don't know if they have these slices all the time, but if they do make sure you grab yourself one. My family mostly picked the Pistachio Almond and they all said it was good. I tasted a bit of the crust from the Pistachio and I actually thought it tasted maybe too buttery/oily. You know that mouthfeel you get when something cold is heavy on the fats? Thankfully, I did NOT get that with the chocolate crust on the Cookie Dough. :) In the past I've gotten other yummy custard treats here. I'd say I think it's one of the more expensive options in SCS, but the flavor of the custard is always on point. The baby? Ice cream cone is almost a joke it's so teeny, but if you're only looking for a taste to quench an ice cream thirst, it's a nice option. The Waffle cone isn't my favorite, but it's homemade which is nice. I lowkey prefer the boxed kind, they have more of that waffly flavor.

The service was pretty decent but the customer service from one young lady in there was very rude and very snotty towards me and my friends while we were there. Only 2 of our orders were correct out of the seven. When we had mentioned to her that our orders were not what we ordered she then got an attitude and became very rude towards us and was almost bothered by us. Personally I love the food and the ice cream that is given here but the customer service tonight was not the best and I will be very hesitant on going back to this place!

Always a great spot to grab a treat! It's a busy spot in the summer, but they move everybody very quickly.

Staple of the community for as long as ive been alive (longer then id like to say) this is a truly great frozen custard experience. Great dips, better flavors, a large complimenting menu of shakes, malts, and beverages. (and the odd food stuff, not sure id order a tuna sandwich from them to be honest though; ive been pleasantly surprised by odd options at places in the past.) theyve got a drive thru now and a firefighter display complete with engine house and rigs, and an old school english phone-booth on site thats really cool. Not sure how its connected personally, maybe family or personal hobby? But its neat nonetheless and the kiddos will gawk and ask questions for sure. My nieces and nephew did.

I love Wally's! I've been coming here since I was younger. Recently moved into the area and now Wally's is a staple in our house! The custard here is absolutely HEAVENLY! Definitely the best in the area. Oh and the waffle cones? Equally as amazing! Their homemade waffle cones are spiced perfectly and are a perfect crunchy combo to whatever custard you choose. Wally's offers frozen yogurt, dole whip, puppy cones, weekly specials and coffee. They offer a walk up window and a drive thru, making it super convenient whether you want to walk or drive. There is also a spacious parking lot in the back. Lines can get long in the summer but I promise it's worth it once you can enjoy your tasty treat!

These were super cute....so I bought a gift card because my nieces were coming in town after Christmas. The girl when I decided to purchase the gift card stated they would have them until new years. Boy we were excited until we got up to the window and the girl stated they no longer had them....it was Dec 27th.....and she looked to have zero desire to even try to make something close to resembling....which is fine. Sooooo that was the only reason we purchased gift card....but we decided since there we would purchase something else....and the kids that were still sad and didn't understand they didn't have those ice creams anymore....so we ordered twists in a cup with sprinkles and m and ms and a few with sprinkles and Reese's....they almost handed over vanillas.....and then proceeded to give one with barely any sprinkles and a few m and ms and stated they were on there...while the other 3 kids had a ton of sprinkles and m and ms/Reese's.....guess what....KIDS DONT UNDERSTAND why they didn't get one that didn't get as much as the others....after multiple disappointing issues decided not to come back to spend the rest of the gift card....if any one wants this gift card let me know....not worth the disappointment when trying to create memories

My service this morning was beyond amazing I forgot to say iced for my mint meltdown and it ruined my day when all I needed was my coffee... this sweet young woman running the window jumped to remake it at no charge. I tipped her all the cash I had which unfortunately wasn't a lot. All she did was remake a drink, but It made my day significantly better.

They had a pistachio frozen custard with an almond crunch cone. It was frozen custard you could get either in a cup or a cone. You had the option to get the almond crunch added! Well, why would you want it any other way! All I can say is wow! It was amazing! So tasty! So flavorful! Yummy!

The famous SCS Wally's frozen custard. I ordered the Wally's whirly with heath and Oreos and a small vanilla sundae with Oreos. Each item is a $0.65 charge and considering they charge you extra they should have put more than a few pittance of the toppings in the whirly. Their ice cream is creamy and rich, the Oreos and heath crumbs are a bit lacking on the whirly for my taste. My nephew liked his sundae, but he would have preferred Oreo chunks instead of just the Oreo cookie crumbs.

Love coming here after a trip in the east side, custard is amazing and they have plenty of options. Prices are very reasonable, slushies are perfect, and the Wally clown sundae is always a favorite of my daughter.

If you're looking for something yummy for your tummy! Come on over! I love all the dips and shakes!!

I've been a Wally's die hard fan since the 80s when they were in their original location down on Harper south of old Eight Mile. The twist cone is perfection and really doesn't need to be improved on, but every once in a blue moon I will switch it up and order a sundae. Their drive-thru window is pretty amazing for inclement weather and the three seasons other than summer. Long live Wally's!

Delicious creamy custard. The flavor of the week has been pineapple every time I go there so I'm not sure if they actually change it, but I'm not complaining.

Better than ice cream. The waffle cone twist is my favorite. Crazy busy during the summer months. The blizzards are hearty. Great value for the money. Waffle bowls are the best when supplies last.

Couldn't bother getting me a new ice cream after they made it fall. There vanilla taste like whip cream and service was mid. There chocolate milkshake is cakey and taste like midness. Malts are way too chocolatey.

If you're ever in Saint Clair Shores and want an alternative to Ice Cream then I HIGHLY recommend Wallys. All the flavor and all the deliciousness one could ask for YUM !!

Only drive up service was available when we went for the best custard in SE Michigan. My granddaughter ordered a cream puff hot fudge sunday and I had a large cone. The window service was excellent as usual. Two days later we still have smiles on our faces from Wally's.

Wally's is a child hood dream to go and experience the best custard. Everything I have had here is amazing!

I used to go to this place as a kid when it was run by Wally himself. I have gone to the new location twice and let down the first time, so I was in hopes of a different experience this time. When I saw the menu it stated a small was $4.25 and a large Wally whirly was $5. Of course I was going to get the large as I could split it for only $.75 more. The dude at the window was quite cocky with his response when I asked for a large as he tells me there were only small sizes left. I asked if he would just make a large in two smalls and it was what he said that made me come to the decision to definitely never go back. This was the second terrible experience I've had out of two experiences

Sweet! Literally. If you're in the mood for plain, it's perfect. If you're in the mood for fixins, it's perfect. And, they have a variety of milkshake flavors, very unusual to find that. Peanut butter and banana, my lifetime fave I thought I could only get at DQ. Lots of variety, plus even breakfast! Custard was delicious, xs,s, m, l, so many sizes to fit your mood. Also have butterscotch dip! The dip was ok, I found it stuck to my teeth and didn't pop with flavor or anything. Would go without next time. Def rec going here. Outdoor seating only, walk up, and drive thru.

This has become our go to dessert spot during summer months. They are always super busy, so be prepared to wait, but it is worth it. They have great options, and the prices are very reasonable for the amount of dessert that you get. I have enjoyed everything I've ever ordered from there, and it's always a big hit with my two kids and my husband lol if you've never been, I would highly recommend checking it out!

Local custard spot, best on the east side. An east side tradition, they have a solid selection of custards and treats for reasonable prices, bit of a wait in summertime but it is worth it.

Wally's is great! I can't eat to much ice cream, but Wally's has delicious dole whip. I got to try the mango dole whip for the first time and it was amazing. Their dole whip flavor changes every week. So far I have tried pineapple, mango, orange, lemon, and raspberry. I can't pick a favorite they are all yummy! They have a drive thru and a walk up window and can get busy. The staff has always been friendly.

Best custard on the east side is an understatement... I say it's the best in southeast Michigan!

Wally's is a place that holds a place in your heart once you've had it. The custard here is just so velvety and creamy, and they have so many types of toppings to satisfy anything cravings you have. It's also nice that they have a drive-through with a speaker, so it keeps the line moving decently fast. I am a simple person, so I always get a variation of a cone dunked in cone topping or rolled in crunchy almonds. So good.

I wish I lived in SCS just so I could go to Wally's more often! I usually don't venture here too often. But whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop and try something! Tonight my family and I ate at a nearby restaurant and walked to Wally's on one of the first warm nights of the year. Wally's has everything from frozen custard to shakes, to Wally's Whirly's to slushies to coffee drinks to sandwiches and even breakfast items! And so much more! Wally's definitely has something for everyone. Today I tried a small Oreo overload shake. The consistency was perfect. Not too thick and not too runny with the perfect amount of Oreo crumbs. The best part about Wally's (besides the Fire Truck!) is the prices. A very affordable place to take your family any time of the day. Open all year round. Wally's does fire truck rentals and catering. For all the current specials and flavors I suggest checking out Wally's Facebook page that is very up to date. Awesome staff. Very friendly! Outdoor tables were kept clean.

The frozen custard is good. It is very pricey. The worst part is the line that goes all the way into the street. It completely blocks traffic and the business needs to come up with a solve for this.

Wally's is the BEST. When it comes to where to get great ice cream/frozen custard there is seriously nowhere better that we've been in all of Metro Detroit. Wally's frozen custard is so incredibly tasty! So rich and the perfect consistency, especially with our favorite green and yellow sprinkles (Wally's colors). The location is easy to get to and has plenty of parking and seating outside, and is super dog friendly. My dog always gets the dog cone or dog sunday which includes vanilla frozen custard and 2 dog treats on the top. Talk about crazy happy puppy... when we pull up she knows! Wally's also has a drive through which is convenient, although in the summer you can expect long lines onto Harper. Nonetheless, the line does move fast, but I'd recommend just getting out and walking up to the window where there's normally a few people taking orders. Really, this place is the real deal. Super friendly employees and super great frozen custard. You can't go wrong!

One thing is for sure when we visited St. Clair Shores, the community is not short on ice cream and frozen yogurt shops! When our usual favorite Ashby's was closed for the afternoon, our friends resorted to Plan B and decided to take us to Wally's Frozen Custard instead! Despite the chilly weather, there were still lots of patrons at Wally's. Wally's looks like a brick fire station and there really is a fire truck parked inside the house! You can order at the window in person or opt for drive-thru. I am not sure if there is seating inside the brick "fire-house," but during our visit, we sat on the curb next to the fire hydrant. There are benches and tables as well, but they were all occupied during our visit. They offer a variety of frozen delights and the menu is pretty straightforward. The house specialty, Frozen Custard comes in flavors of Vanilla, Chocolate, Twist (vanilla + chocolate) and Flavor of the Week. Guests can order the custard to be on a cone, bowl, pint, quart and even Wally clown or Fire Helmet. They also have sizes for doggies and babies for $1.45. Coincidentally, we came on $2 Tuesdays where any small or medium cones are $2. Be sure to bring cash, as they charge a $0.30 processing fee. All the frozen treats and menu items are a good price! I love how they have Dole Whip as well, a real Disney treat! They only had one ordering window open during our visit and the line got longer, so I couldn't find any napkins or get to the front of the line to ask for some without cutting in. I would suggest placing some napkins out because the frozen custard does drip and get sticky. I love the fire station-themed menu and the decor. Next time we visit, I look forward to trying the cooler and floats. And also remember to bring cash!

This place is an Eastside MUST! It's great in summertime but, really anytime is a great time for Wally's Custard. Ask them about the Wally's Fire truck for birthday parties!

I've been going to Wallys for years and I decided to go and check out this new location while I was in the area. I really like the feature of having a Wallys drive through as it was always an issue to find parking at the old location. I like the size of this location and the firehouse design. This is a drive through or walk up only place so don't come here thinking you'll be chilling out in air conditioning. I like the community aspect of everyone gathering outside on a hot summer day it's very cool to see and always makes me want to stop by. The real draw here is the custard and it doesn't disappoint. They have enough options for you to come for a month and not get the same thing twice. The toppings are on point as well and you'd be hard pressed to not find what you're looking for. I usually splurge for the custard every now and again but I sometimes just stop in for a sugar free fat free flavor of the day.

It was soo yummy!! And soo much! None of us could finish! There were three of us. We ordered the Reese's avalanche, the creme puff and the brownie sundae . We could've shared just one!!!' They were steady busy and service was fast. Five stars. We will return!

Excellent local establishment. There is a wide selection of custard, sundaes, shakes, smoothies and more (even breakfast!). My banana malt was a blissful combination of ice cream, malt and real banana bits cut to the perfect size (small enough to go through the straw but big enough to add texture and flavor). My wife's ultimate turtle sundae was huge and good. You'll see a line of people queuing up here as the weather improves. Don't let that discourage you. The food and cheery counter people make Wally's worth the wait (love the fire truck and fire house metaphor, by the way).

I have never in my life experienced such an amazing treat. Everything was amazing. I honestly cannot describe how incredible this frozen custard was. You HAVE to go here.

Little back story. My family and I go out to get Ice cream or frozen custard every Tuesday. For years. Wally's was always in the rotation with other local dessert spots. A few months ago we ordered our usual from the drive thru and go home to eat it. My daughter pulls out a wipe/napkin from her custard. Husband called Wally's to explain what we found. And instead of taking responsibility or at least apologizing, the owner said it was impossible and it didn't happen. We didn't need a refund or anything. We just wanted to address it so it wouldn't happen to someone else. We will never order anything from Wally's again purely because of the lack of customer service.

This was a fun find driving through St. Clair Shores. Best Waffle cone I ever had. Custard was delicious. A nice treat on a Sunday afternoon. Will go back!
