Wally's Wisconsin Tavern

Great tavern for before or after an Avs or Nuggets game. The pretzel is awesome, burgers are all good and the brats are from the Rein Hays next door. Wings are so-so but if you drink enough beer they might be the best you’ve ever had. Service isn’t bad but it’s not great, it’s a bar so it is what it is. If you want water they’ll tell you to get your own but it’s because the servers are always busy bussing tables and running food. Overall it’s a great spot with good food and lively atmosphere.

Husband is from the Midwest (Nebraska) and we live in Northern Virginia so this was a great find to provide some comfort food. Great bar food with a Midwest twist. The service was great. Shoutout to the staff member that made my sob’s day with a bunch of cool gear when he found out my son’s name is Jameson.

Best pickle spears, get them! Perfect dive bar vibe with delicious food. We liked it so much that we went two days in a row. For food on the first visit we got garden salads, burger, and pickles. The second visit we got the blue cheese wedge salad, pickles and some side veggies of carrots and celery. All the food was delicious! I think they make the dressing in house, so good! The drinks were great too. The severs on both visits were so friendly, and helpful when trying to decide what to order. I loved the pickles so much that I ordered some to go and they hooked me up with 12 spears.

First I have to say my partner of 12 +years always thought fried pickles were disgusting.... my 4 year old same . We came here for her 4th birthday on her actual birthday! Server gave her a giant lemonade to celebrate. He was great ! And my partner devoured the pickles which surprised the heck out of me . Same with my toddler . Went there on a Sunday after the theme park near by . Absolutely great experience and the best fried pickles ever . Also lovely pretzels. My kid and partner devoured it all . Also my partner isn't into anything creamy but apparently loved their homemade ranch because it was BOMB ! Great experience and food . I have a delicate belly and certain places will continue to refry oil and it messes with me . I didn't get a belly ache after this meal. Definitely going back !

Great place to visit if you miss Wisconsin or if you're a Green Bay Packer fan. Great cheese curds and poutine.

This placed lived up to our expectations and then some. We love Wisconsin food and often travel for things like solidly good poutine - as you can often find cheese curds and pretzels on more menus but this place has it ALL. They also have a combined shared space, expanding the menu and beer options, and the overall vibe is fantastic. High energy and great service. The poutine was FIRE and I've been dreaming about it ever since. The curds were straight outta Wisconsin and are delicious. The pretzel was the least exciting thing but only because it was a bit sweet, like it was next to the sweet pretzel they offer but we'd get it again. The cheese fondue dip was amazing. Solid beer selection, something for everyone! Can't wait to go back.

The atmosphere, the vibes the fun , lively ppl in there, it felt like home. Can't wait to try their cocktails and watch a badger game next time!

Was told it was seat yourself, found a large table available, but it had not been cleared. I was the first of our party of 8 to arrive, saw a person who worked at Wally's and asked if our party could sit, he said yes. The rest of my party arrived, 3 being kids and one with a disability. Not thinking much about it and not wanting to be in the way, we all sat down. In an effort to be helpful, we moved all the glasses and baskets to the end of the table. We were looking at the menus on the table when someone came to clear it. As he was walking away he grumbled, "next time you should wait for the table to be cleared before sitting." When he came back I told him I had asked if we could sit and been told yes. He replied, "Well obviously he meant after it was cleared." I told him we didn't have to stay if it was that big of an issue and he replied that he didn't want to argue with me, but it was obviously common sense to not sit. I told him he was being exceptionally rude and we left. I waited tables for the better part of a decade, eight people standing in the middle of a restaurant with no waiting area, especially when busy, sounds like more of a headache. Maybe he was already having a bad night, I get that, but the level of unnecessary rudeness and attitude was over the top.

Came here before an Avs game with a big group so it was very crowded. I was surprised at how quickly our food came out and it was piping hot.

Wally's Wisconsin Tavern is connected to Rhein Haus, and regardless of where you sit inside you have access to both menus. Service is fairly fast and friendly, and it's a great spot for a quick bite and a beer before heading to Ball Arena. I'm not a big beer drinker but felt like they had enough variety on draft to have a glass of something that appealed to me, but they also have wine and cocktails for those who want something besides beer. For food I had the classic brat from the Rhein Haus menu with sweet potato fries. This came topped with the driest sauerkraut I've ever had and sat on top of a dry bun. Fries were alright though and I appreciated the pickle for some moisture. Overall wouldn't come back here for food, but drinks and ambience were great! Every booth seat area even has its own mini TV so it's a great place to hang out with friends and watch games.

Ordered from Wally's for delivery to our hotel after a long day. Family of five ordered a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with chili, an order of chicken tenders with fries, an order of chicken wings and a cheeseburger. Also ordered some cheese curds and a homemade pretzel to share. All of the food was pretty tasty, our favorite was probably the chicken tenders or chicken wings. Unfortunately the side salad that was ordered with my burger did not arrive...funny thing is those of us that had chili and/or burger ended up having some wild dreams that night! Maybe not the best late night options before bedtime.

Stopped in for lunch. It was seat yourself a d happy hour on a Sunday from 12-3. Beers were $1 off. Jason was our server. Great job explaining things. I ordered the walleye with the sweet potato fries pretty good, nothing to write home about, but I haven't had walleye in a while. it is connected to a German restaurant and you get your choice of menu's. All in all, good food. good service.

Bartenender was very nice and atmosphere was very casual. Less than 5 minutes after 11 pm last call manager aggressively announced that drinks needed be finished in 10 minutes. Then when it was closing time manage again aggresively addresseed customers. It also seemed bartender was distressed to rush closing. If this is a licensing issue last call should be announced sooner however from talking to regulars this seemed to be a management issue. Will not be returning to this establishment.

Calling all Wisconsinites, this place is made for you! I found this place by accident. I happened to be in Rhein Haus, and we asked if there was room to sit anywhere. We were on a hunt for 6 beers all day. The hostess says yes, you can sit at the bar go to the far right, that opening is the bar.....I was lost because I have been to Rhein Haus before the bar was right in front of me to the left. We listened and went far right.....Wow oh wow! It was like being dropped smack dab in the middle of Wisconsin, it brought back high school memories living in Wisconsin, mainly Appleton! Luckily, there were 2 seats left, so we sat & asked for the pumpkin beer they carried currently. Pleasantly, to my surprise, it's the same owners as Rheun Haus! Yay! The big difference is that there was nothing but a sea of Green & Gold for Packer fans and Red & White for Badger fans. I was waiting for Buckey to come out running up & down the aisle. This is a cool bar for any Wisconsin fan. We had the Pepperoni Flatbread pizza with jalapeños, and a pumpkin Ale. The pizza dough was nice and fluffy with great flavor. It went well with the pumpkin ale. Next to us, we saw 1 of the really nice & cool bartenders making someone a fishbowl drink. The drink has a flashing ice cube & topped with Swedish fish, pretty cool looking. If you a fan of any Wiscon team this is the place to be at. The best part is that there is a full bar and you get to have the same beers & food from Rhein Haus! Winner Winner Germany Wisconsin Fish Fry dinner .....Now you probably wondering why not 5 stars, then? Well this is THE BEST Wisconsin bar in Colorado, but there's one thing missing from the menu! Fried Cheese Curds! C'mon man! This place needs Fried Cheese curds asap! We were told they use to have them. When they finally do, please don't serve it with Ranch! Or Marinara! That's some weird Colorado hipster trend that needs to die ASAP! Either way this place is a must experience for any Wisconsin team and I mean any Wisconsin team. Hey they were even place the Badgers vs. Nebraska volleyball on 1 of the tvs!

I'm a Wisconsin girl from way up north, so the Friday night fish fry is what drew me here. It did not disappoint! The man had the Sconnie burger and a beer on special, both he enjoyed. Yes this is bar food but it's good bar food. Didn't try the cheese curds but will next time. Service was quick and consistent. Attentive server but not hovering service which is the perfect balance. It was a fun atmosphere and fairly true to Wisconsin flavor and vibe while being in Denver. We will go back!

Wally's is the perfect sports bar to throw back a few brews and eat bar grub. There are some great cheesy food options and plenty of beers to choose from! If you're feeling frisky, you can even do a shot-ski !! Very home-y feeling and TVs everywhere. Also a great place to grab a drink before a game at Ball Arena.

Being a wisconsin native, this place was a blast from the past. Everything pretty much screams Wisconsin in this place. Food, drink and decor is all things Wisconsin. They have Wisconsin small plates and they also serve food from the German restaurant next door. We got the cheese curds and traditional flamkuken. Flamkuken was alright but the cheese curds were great.

Ok...this was a random stop after the ghost tour and one of the best food choices we made. Definitely liked the pin cushion at the front and the passion for Wisconsin sports was evident all over. The Wisco cheesesteak was top notch with melted cheese curds and onions and peppers. Of course, you need to try the cheese curds and these were some of the best in the business. Great late meal here.

First time in denver, first time at Wally's, but it will certainty not be the last. I came here during game three of the stanley cup final and the avs were playing a few blocks away. The atmosphere was the electric and the avs couldn't miss! Even with how packed it was, I was able to find a table and get a brat. If you are from Wisconsin and looking for a slice of home, Wally's is the place to be. A concrete miracle.

Great place. Parking is not fun but the bar is attached to Rheinhoise so 2 for 1! The bartender was great, TVs surrounded and apparently during packers games they align The bocce courts with foldable chairs for a "tailgate". FUN!!! Definitely a cool spot especially if your from Wisconsin!

First time I've been able to find true cheese curds outside of Wisconsin! Highly recommend if your looking for a taste of Wisconsin in Denver

Good food and staff (although our server this visit was a real creep) - just do NOT show up on game day in any kind of hurry, or you will never find a place to sit and your food will take a very long time. Try a weekday instead

Great food and happy hour! Little green space inside gave it kind of a backyard feel and being from Wisconsin I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Denver!

As a Wisconsinite, this place is a little home away from home. Good food, cheese curds, and brandy old fashions... can't beat that

In town for Packer game and had the worst experience. Not enough staff, slow service and long lines at both bars. So unprepared for Packer Fans coming to town. Game Day was even worse that Saturday. Staff was so bad and untrained. Many times, free beer was offered because of mis orders. Warm draft beer and dirty glasses were included. Ordered pretzel and was delivered 2 of the wrong order. If the owner is a true Packer Fan, he should be embarrassed for the service and planning for the weekend. A complete joke !! Loss revenue and tips for the few servers I saw. I will give a little credit, when I asked for my check, he returned in 3 minutes. Wish other service was as good. Sad first trip to your bar.

They don't have the Walleye on the menu anymore. Plus there is no AUCE fish fry either. The poutine was a good alternative.

From vegas and came here for a pre drink before the finals game... literally the rudest bartenders. We just wanted to have a good time, grab a beer and play darts. They refused us darts because the "game was on". (It was 2 hours before game). Another group was playing darts so we joined them. Mid game a bartender came over (we weren't disturbing anyone and behaving) grabbed the darts very aggressively and ran away and said you are done. It was very rude and unprofessional. There is a way to go about business and the way they handled this was so rude. We tried to talk to them to de-Escalade the situation but they had no sense of reasoning. Behavior of staff was unacceptable and my friends from Australia have never been treated so poorly and my local friends will never return. Poor rude slow staff.

Went to watch the packer game, The food was great, the atmosphere awesome, but our waitress was the best,she was so attentive to our needs even though it was very crowded. Her name happened to be Sayla, and mine Gayla .,.we immediately hit It off. I would definitely recommend Wallys, but make sure to sit in Saylas section.

Great food and a fun atmosphere. Came down to Denver for a concert and had time to grab a bite and I'm so glad we chose this place. Great burgers and lots of beers. Get the cheese curds!!!!

This place has been my go to before Avs games and concerts for years. Food is amazing! The Lombardi burger visits me in my dreams! By far my favorite! Don't miss out! Everything is fantastic here! I've tried almost the entire menu. My kids love it as well!

Stopped by for a drink tonight before the AVS game - was treated to an early show at the bar! Keith - the one handed wizard - kept everyone hydrated and smiling which as a former service industry worker is not an easy feat! BRAVO!!

I enjoyed the poutine and the bratwurst/frites. Service was ok, not bad but nothing special. We were there as a large group, so didn't really get to feel how the rest of the restaurants vibe was but will return if in the area.

We are from Wisconsin living in Denver so we had to try Wally's! We loved it. I was expecting the food to be typical bar food, but it far surpassed my expectations. The food was delicious, and I loved that you could order and pay your tab directly on your phone! That was super cool, we were able to order on our own terms and not wait for someone to come to our table. The service was still great, we had people checking in on us even though all the ordering was done online. Highly recommend!

Being from Wisconsin, we thought this would be a fun stop on our trip! We sat at the bar. Because this is a Wisconsin bar, we asked the bartender if he had any Spotted Cow, to which he rudely replied "I think you know the answer to that." But the thing is, we didn't. Rude bartender and definitely not that "Midwest Nice" we thought we'd find at a Wisconsin themed bar.

This little gem is located by/inside Rhein Haus. They are pretty much the same restaurant. Service was a little slow, but our server was nice. Had the Fish Fry and the poutine. Both were pretty good. I kind of wish I had the time for the AYCE fish fry but that can be reserved for another time.

"We're going truncate our operating hours because of the snow (because we're empty) and we're going to surprise you with a 10 minutes notice and then despite the short notice and extremely limited ride we're going to kick you out into the cold because we have to 'count cash now'/'fuck you we want to go home because we're not making tips'" Edit: In response to your response, we had no problem with that. All we had asked was to wait inside the door for our ride that was also struggling with making the trip and since we, too, are susceptible to the dangers of cold and wintry weather. Solid attempt at passive aggressive guilt shaming, though.

Awesome time at Wallys! This place shares a wall with Rhein Haus and you have the ability to get both menu items. We got the pretzel, cheese churds, brats, mushroom & Swiss burg, all you can eat fish fry, and the German chocolate cake! Covid protocols make you feel so safe, it was truly 6ft and everyone's in masks. Lots o brownie points for how serious they're taking it. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Yummy fresh food, cold beer, and good vibes!

Cool bar with tasty pub eats - connected to Rheinhaus! I came here for National Cheesecurds Day with my boyfriend & friend. Wally's was packed out (naturally ~ people love them some cheesecurds), but the waiter was nice enough to let us sit on the Rheinhaus side. Service was pretty slow (it took nearly 15 minutes for us to get any service) buuuut we were happy when we got $4 cheesecurds with unlimited toppings. So much cheese. So much salt. So much yum. My boyfriend & friend also got a liter of beer ($8 on happy hour!) which they were all about. Overall, good experience but boy were our tummies not happy after all of those curds later...

Service was terrible and slow. And this is coming from a Green Bay fan. We were ignored almost entire time. Like pulling the teeth to do anything there. Our food came 45 min later and cold. Pretty sure the waitress forgot about us. We had to ask fir food. Had to ask for refills. Had to ask for check. Very disappointing. I was hoping to find a Green Bay friendly place to watch the game but was very disappointed with service. Not sure I want to come back again.

Wally's is a smaller bar that is connected to Rhein Haus. You can still order all the beers and food from Rhein Haus but they do have their own menu as well, with some Wisconsin style food and local Wisconsin beers. I love their cheese curds and the "you betcha basket". During the football season they have Jell-O shots and they always have my favorite, pickle shots. Great service and decent happy hour.

Hard to hate a place with fried cheese curds. Pretty good size place and booths big enough for larger groups

I was really confused at first when I came in because it is connected to Rhein Haus so I assumed it was an extension. The bartender was very outgoing and we had a couple of beverages while playing some games they had to offer. It has a great location but it seemed pretty quiet for a Sunday night when the Broncos were playing. We had a good time overall, but the darts were all broken but one and there were not replacements. They have a wooden cutout of the US and they encourage guests to hammer a nail in the wood based on where they are traveling from, we had fun doing that for our hometowns.

I came here for the first time for the Packers playoff game, wow!! What an experience!!! The crowd is unbelievable! I'm not even a packers fan but this was one of the funnest football game experiences!! The food was to be expected- fried stuff with cheese on it and in it. The cheese curds and you betcha basket are enough to give you a heat attack, but delicious! In a city where everything is farm to table and organic (which I love) but it's nice to know there's soMe good ol comfort food available! Also, this place is gigantic!!! You would never know by looking from the front! It's huge but it does get packed during games. Our waitress Kaylee was great, she was really friendly and despite being completely slammed, she never seemed stressed and took time to chat. She even specifically came over and asked if I liked the winter spiced old fashioned she had recommended. When I made a face she was like "oh let's get you something else". I do not like to send back alcohol, but she was like, no biggie! And I had an awesome Manhattan (side note, when I went to the bar for another manhattan, it did not taste the same- it wasn't as good.) The service was slow, about 15 minutes before she'd get arours and another 10-15 before actually getting what we ordered but I don't think this was Kaylee's fault I think it just goes with the territory with that volume of people.she did say "come back again when it's not crazy, I promise I don't usually take this long!" I really can't wait to go back. So fun, the entire staff was friendly and helpful and the whole place had such a fun game day vibe!!

"Wisconsin" Tavern is a little misleading. We went to watch the packer playoff game and was told that the upstairs was the Seahawks bar and that they wouldn't have the sound on to the packer game and with 4 minutes left in the game they announced that the bar was closing in 10 minutes. Good food and good beer but the service was not a good midwestern feel.

I'm probably a little biased in this review as I am a HUGE GREENBAY PACKERS fan but, I'm gonna leave my opinion anyway. My friends and I have been coming to Wally's for 2 years now to watch all things Wisconsin. We love the bar. We love the feel, we love the huge projector for tailgating at the restaurant next door. We love the cheese curds. We love all the Go Pack Go chants throughout the game. There's a great selection of beer and if you come during the game, usually there's drink and food specials. I had a bratwurst two times ago that was delicious. The spicy mustard was so flavorful. I also loved the loaded tater tots I got last time. It's hard to mess up tater tots though. If you're coming for a game, get there early as seating tends to fill up quickly. I also suggest that if you're part of the opposing team the Packer's/Badgers are playing that day, just sit outside. They have a lovely patio you can enjoy and see the tvs, rain or shine. I will give it up to those brave souls who have the audacity to root against the packers at a packers bar. But packers fans are so nice, we usually just let it go since we'd probably beat them anyway. Overall, this is a great place with wonderful staff. Order the Wisconsin old fashioned and you will not be disappointed. See you on Sunday.

We had the best time here! A quick business trip into town and this was the best find. Our Waitress (Ashlyn) helped us with recommendations snd helped us have a great experience. Highly recommend!

Got a free pretzel due to my first visit. It was hot and fresh. Had to ask for a napkin. The pretzil was heavy with oil. Had to ask for my waiter to return so I could order food. I ordered the basic brat plate. Brot was beige and had no taste. Bun fresh and fries hot. Atmosphere was old sports bar and was fine. Pickle spear with s brot that had pickle slices in it. Cant eat a pickle slice in that type of bun. There is no reason I would return.

I have to say I enjoyed this bar. Coming from a busy LA town and an absolutely busy work/life the servers and bartenders made us feel so at home and really gave us so much great service and gave us an absolute amazing time after such a shitty day. Sayla and Keith are absolutely pleasures to have. Unfortunately not sure if the manager was not a fan of me but myself and my former left because a manager gave us a wrong look. If a manager is reading this please give me a call or response on email. I did not feel welcomed when I was looked at wrong but you have great workers on the team!

Slow service but some of the best Wisconsin cheese curds I've ever had and I'm a snob. We sent the schnitzel back after waiting thirty minutes for it. We think the bartender forgot it under the heat lamp because when it came it was like warm but the plate was on fire and the weird lemon caper sauce on top was hard and filmy. The beer selection was good. I had a raspberry sour that was tasty. It's a fun place to watch sports. The booths are huge and the my all have their own huge tv. I would go back solely for the curds and to watch a game.

Found myself at Wally's after a friend (from Wisconsin) suggested we meet up here for an after work happy hour. While I certainly wouldn't call Wally's a dive bar, it does give off a certain dive bar feel. There are several deer heads on the walls, accompanied by flags displaying allegiance to the Badgers and Packers. The decor is dark, but not dingy. The service was friendly and everyone seemed willing to answer questions we had about the menu. Also, the drink prices weren't bad as we were there during happy hour, which ran until 6pm. Oh, and they have a self serve popcorn machine; NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! Overall, Wally's was a great experience. The only downside, you need to go to the bar to get anything. Overall, not that big of a deal. But, when you end up at a table (and they're packed tight) with six people, getting up and around a group becomes a bit inconvenient...lesson learned, for my next visit.

I'm pretty shocked this place doesn't have better ratings. We came here to watch a basketball game and it's a great spot for game watching because it has TVs all over! They were nice enough to change the TV to the station that we wanted! I would definitely come back to this place for many reasons: -Great service, our waitress was very attentive -Wisconsin style food- brats, and cheese curds! Need I say more? -Fantastic beer selection! You can order from what they have on tap or order whatever is on tap next door -Fun décor! I loved scowling the walls and seeing all the fun artifacts It was a great unique spot for Downtown Denver! Glad to see this place doing so well!

We really wanted to like this place more. Came here towards the end of a Wisconsin game, excited for cheese curds and beer. During the game, it was pretty packed, and took a long time to grab a beer. No problem. It's a Wisconsin bar, of course it would be packed. Not sure why they seemed to only have 1 bartender, but its OK. We were able to grab our future beers faster from next door. The game ended, tables cleared up and we were ready to grab some curds! Our waitress sat us... then we didn't see her for 15 minutes. We ended up flagging the other waitress to try get an order in. Our waitress eventually came back, but then disappeared again for long periods of time. We looked around in our area and saw that other tables were equally annoyed it was taking so long to put orders in. The bar was no longer busy, and we just couldn't figure out why it was so hard to order more beer and food. The cheese curds ended up being just OK... definitely not good enough to warrant the long wait time. I know this bar is relatively new, and I hope they get their stuff figured out, but with the abundance of other sports bars in downtown, it will be hard for us to decide to come back here again.

I give this place a strong 4 stars. My only complained was the tepid temperature of the food once it hit the table. Everything we ordered was good, flavor was spot on according to my learned partner in crime. Good food amount to price ratio, we couldn't finish the app dishes between two people, they would be great for a table of four no problem. The stand out was the goulash, a simple dish I've been told but this offering was deep, rich and complex with notes of smoky seasonings and robust root veggie flavor. I will be back for more.

Alright, so I am from Wisconsin and when I came here and got a bloody I was a bit disappointed. For a "loaded" bloody there is an up charge and this is what their definition of loaded is. Not worth the extra money, it would be if they had a speared pickle and a stalk of celery... but it is not great. Also it was suppose to be a spicy bloody but it was the most bland bloody I have had. I should've just had a V8 and chased it with some Tito's.
