How Black Food Business Owners Walk the DEI Tightrope | Eater

"Following political pressure to scale back diversity efforts, the retail giant announced it would cut back its DEI work and elected not to extend a high-profile Center for Racial Equity that had committed to donating $100 million over five years to organizations addressing racial disparities. That pullback has left Black small-business partners feeling exposed—where previous pledges offered both financial promise and distribution opportunities, the rollback has increased uncertainty about long-term retail support and the cultural acknowledgment that shelf placement once provided." - Arionne Nettles

LA County Approves $5/Hour ‘Hero Pay’ Boost for Grocery Store Workers | Eater LA

"One of the country’s biggest retail and grocery employers, cited in analyses showing major chains posted sharp profit gains during 2020 and engaged in large stock buybacks, a fact critics use to argue such companies could afford temporary premium pay for frontline grocery workers; policymakers remain divided over whether wage mandates might nonetheless lead to workforce reductions or closures despite strong financial performance." - Mona Holmes

My experience was great at first the cashier was kind but very thorough in checking cart making sure all items were paid for but upon leaving the store I was embarrassed as if I stolen some .78 waters . Because I didn’t receive an itemized receipt. I was taken back to cashier Mary who confirmed I paid for waters at the bottom of my basket but that wasn’t enough I still was held by Nina the door Keeper and Christina the store manager . I hope cameras were reviewed that day and compensation is given for the harassment and embarrassment that I received just days after me having a surgery . I felt bad for Mary as she was attacked by Nina and Christina . The mistake was the register didn’t provided an itemized receipt. The exit process has to improve there’s already cameras everywhere. I’m going to try and avoid going back I think that ur stopped based on your appearance.

Overall, such a pleasant shopping experience. This Wal-Mart has so many negative reviews, but it must be the time when people go. I went on a Saturday evening (around 7pm) and it was such a relaxed shopping experience, it was worth it. Richard and 2 more associates that I asked questions were at all times friendly, helpful, and knew where to locate the few things I asked about. The cashier was also super friendly and helpful (lady with glasses) and even when leaving, when they check your receipts for the items, it was quick and efficient.

Be prepared to have a long in store experience since a huge number of items are locked up! I went there and needed makeup, skincare, feminine products, shaving stuff, and deodorant. They had one lady to open all of these aisles and she was super thrilled to don that at 9:30 PM! I don’t even blame her. The lady who marks your receipt is super nice however and leaving there is really the best part. I recommend ordering online and then picking up! They have almost everything they carry in store (unlike others AHEM Target!) and if you find yourself needing something to do at 1 AM besides sleeping like I do way too often, I do my order. I only hate that I have to complete my order by noon if i want it that day, why are there not more people doing BOPS???? Oh it’s Walmart and the reason the price is low is because they don’t have the expensive stuff such as enough staff or pay the staff to make shopping a pleasant, easy experience! Once again, I don’t fault the associates who are nice enough all things considered. This is what I hate about shopping in America! You always have to choose between price or service or price or convenience. Not only

So irritated ! Currently waiting in a long ass line to return EXPIRED food. Good thing I looked before eating them. I shouldn’t even have to monitor food while it’s on shelf to purchase in store. I came here to purchase one item I can’t find anywhere else with intentions on never coming to any Walmarts ever again and this is exactly one of the dozens of reasons. It’s not like anyone would care about losing one customer. Worthless company all around 🙄 per usual, doesn’t matter the location. I’m a product reviewer which is why I got this. I’ll be reporting to the brand to let them know.

The Spark inspector in this store had a very bad attitude. I have never met someone with such a bad attitude. I was the only Spark driver at the time. After I explained the situation to her, she left directly. I waited for a few minutes and then went to find her before she came over. Her attitude was very bad the whole time. Secondly, I don’t know why the employees of this store have the right to check my ID. I have never encountered such a situation when shopping in other stores. I selected 4 shopping bags on my phone for customers to pack items. She came over and snatched them from my hands in a very fierce manner, asking me how many bags I took. I hope Walmart can pay attention to this employee. I think she is discriminating against Chinese people. I have never seen a staff member with such a bad attitude. A woman with a black face.

Jennifer of 20 years of Service, helped me buy a new bike today. She was excellent and I appreciated her help when no one else would help me get a bike to look at. Thank you.

Had a very bad experience at the Money Services Center. The young female employee, who seemed like a new hire, was rude and had no basic manners. Even her manager had the same attitude. It felt like they saw customers as enemies. Employees treated me like I was a criminal—it’s insulting. I find it offensive to be treated like a thief. I used to have good experiences with the previous staff, but this time was completely different. Very disappointing service!!!

Rena at Walmart Optical was incredibly patient and helpful. I wanted to interchange lenses that are in the same type of frame. She did her best to try to accommodate my request. Unfortunately the lenses we're not interchangeable. It took them a while to get to me (I was a walk-in) because they give their customers their full attention when dealing with getting new eyeglasses. I've been coming here for a few years and will continue to come back.
