Walt's Flavor Crisp Chicken Express

The moment we walked in we were greeted by the nicest lady who gave us the run down of the menu, recommendations for family meals, and suggestions for our sides. We have never eaten food from Walt's before and it was good. The breasts were a little over done on the outside but the inside was still tasty. The thighs, drums, and wings were cooked perfectly. We got mashed potatoes with gravy and mac. A little salty for my husband and I but very good. We would definitely go back the next time we are in the area again!

So i had chicken, whiting, potato salad, greens, and macncheese. It ALL was good, but the whiting and potato salad stood out as some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, with homemade tartar sauce to boot. 😋🤤 Great Atmosphere and Service was an unexpected bonus. U can tell Carmella takes pride in serving some good soul food. Recommended if you need some hearty feel good food. Tell them Wendell sent you!

I haven’t lived in the area for about 2 years now but let me tell you.. I have NOT found another chicken spot that could even compare to Walt’s. I STILL talk about this chicken and how much I miss it. Please do not sleep on this spot. They’re all so kind and the food is ALWAYSSS fresh and hot. Whenever I’m in the area I try to stop in!

Walt's Chicken has left me disappointed with their inconsistent opening hours. Despite their advertised closing time of 8 PM, I've repeatedly encountered situations where they were unreachable well before then. This inconsistency has made it difficult to rely on their services, leading to frustration and inconvenience. As much as I enjoy their menu options, the lack of reliability in their operating hours has significantly impacted my overall experience. I’d rather go elsewhere

LOVE this local chicken joint! Beats the heck out of the major chain chicken places to be sure! Owner is wonderful to talk to and makes some killer chicken! Delicious side dishes as well. Sweet baked beans for the sweet tooth! Corn is delicious as well as the corn bread. No frills, walk in and pop your order and thank me on the way down to your appreciative stomach!

One of the worst meals I ever had. The fried chicken was too salty. The fish was stale. The rice and mashed potatoes literally had plastic odor and taste in it. The potions were too small but I guess that was the only good thing because of its horrible taste large portions would have been such a waste If I could give no stars or -5, would give that

It may not be much to look at: just another building in a non-descript strip mall, but man was the chicken great! I drove about 25 minutes from South Philly just to try it and it was worth the ride. Delicious, juicy chicken. I got the white meat with waffles, mac and cheese and collard greens. Everything was excellent. I went on a Sunday and there was only one lady who was working the counter, taking phone orders, and cooking the food. I asked her if she always flies solo, and she said the other employee called out. She handled everything with poise and grace and was very pleasant as well. If the owner is reading this, give that woman a raise! I'm definitely heading back soon to try some more of the sides and grab some banana pudding.

I ABSOLUTELY LOOOVE WALTS!! I've heard others say it's a bit pricey,but I'll pay their prices for how delicious and satisfying their chicken options and shrimp options taste! I just still gotta taste the Whiting &the Flounder sandwhiches/platters.

For those living in the burbs it is way easier to get to this location than their downtown location Mostly takeout but they do have some tables here if you really need somewhere to eat I love their fried fish platter with mac and cheese and some potato salad. I always opt for the extra large sides. Whatever I don't finish is a little treat to go with lunch or dinner the next day They only take cash, cash app, or Zelle here which is a little annoying because I'm mostly a credit card guy. But I get it.

We've been going here for our take-out chicken for years. It's always been good. Crispy, tasty and fresh. Friendly staff. Our favorite source of fried chicken.

I had the best experience here. First of all the chicken is delicious. It's crispy and moist. Very very flavorful. The seasoning on the chicken is just right. It has enough flavor to eat without ketchup or hot sauce. The staff was extremely helpful. One staff member in particular went over and beyond. His name was Ben Flowers. He made my experience at Walt's a good one. I will definitely be back.

It's good, but not as good as the original. 6 piece for $12. 1 breast, 1 thigh, 2 legs, 2 wings. 2 tiny rolls. Reheated well. Sides are excellent. And they are open!!! I didn't have to cook! So maybe it was better then 3 stars.

Note: my 6 friends and I collectively agreed that this place is 5 stars! Went here ~8pm on a Sunday night. The workers and I think the owner (?) were so patient, kind and helpful even though my friends and I came in when they were nearing closing time (which I know can be kinda annoying as a worker). I went with my group of friends and we had no idea what to order. But the owner helped us out a lot and even gave us samples of the sides that they offer! We ended up getting the 5 breast, 5 wing chicken pack and "made it a meal" with the ~$8 offer that adds 2 Large sides (deff worth it when you have a bigger/hungry group!). For our sides we got Coleslaw and Mac & Cheese. Their chicken was fried fresh for us and wow... the first bite into the chicken changed my life!!! Soooo juicy and well seasoned. I thought Popeyes fried chicken was good but this was next level!! I had no idea what good fried chicken was until now!!!!! Usually fried chicken breasts tend to be dry but not at this place!!! The Coleslaw was also a great and refreshing side! It was a little bit zesty which complemented the chicken well. The Mac & Cheese was yummy! Definitely fills you up and is pretty heavy. As good mac and cheese should do to you. They also provided us with hot sauce, bbq sauce and utensils and plates! How accommodating! Overall, a wonderful experience with the food and customer service!!! Wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. Maybe I'll let them cater my wedding! Hahahahhahahahahahahhaah

Food tonight was awful. The chicken was too salty and hard. The greens were bitter. Threw it away.

This is our go-to chicken take out. Disappointed tonight, chicken tasted re-heated or re-fried. The skin was overly fried. Ordered small cole slaw, $1.59 It was not much larger than a take out ketchup container.

Walt's now has a location in Claymont... woohoo!!!! Same delicious flavor and crisp as the Wilmington location on Lincoln St. The menu is the same and so are the prices. This location is larger with seating inside and a couple of tables outside. It's great to see Walt's expanding!!

This place is a hidden gem! I have been in the area a few times and really wanted to try it out, so tonight I gave it a try! I didn't know you could call ahead to order, but I am glad I didn't! The woman who took my order was so nice when I told her it was my first time there. She walked me through the menu and let me know I could even make my own meal if I wanted something specific. I ordered three tenders with two sides and banana pudding. While I was waiting for my food to be ready the woman came out and let me try some of their sides and she gave me a thigh to try as well! The service was amazing and the food was even better! I am so happy I found this place and I will 100% be back for more!

This was my first time trying Walt's and I will absolutely be back. This was some of the tastiest fried chicken I've ever had in my life. The waffle was delicious as well. Can't wait to go back!

Best chicken in the tri-state area! I didn't even know that they had a location near me- and I rarely get to the downtown area. There's no crispier chicken I've ever had with this moist of meat underneath. Great job as always! I wouldn't have wasted my time on the chain around the corner if I'd known you were here! They also deep fry turkeys year-round and I was able to order mine for Christmas Eve! (They do need 3 days notice). Can't wait to go back! P.S. (The Mac n cheese and greens are off the chain)

Wow, Unbelievable rude staff. I stopped in to grab a breast for a snack. What they gave me was not even recognizable as chicken. It looked burnt and sinewy. I walked back in and asked if I could have a different piece. The girl at the counter told me that they didn't have any more breasts but she can give me two thighs instead. A woman then comes out from the back asking what is wrong with it. I explain to her that It is dried out and looks burnt. I said that it looks old. She raises her voice and tells me that it isn't old, and that I will have to wait for them to drop more breasts. When she said I would have to wait, she raised her eyebrows and pouted her lips with attitude. If it was the last breast they have why had they not ALREADY dropped more breasts? Something doesn't sound right there. I said I will just take the two thighs that the girl at the counter offered me. The woman from the back gave me a rude look and started muttering under her breath. There is a Royal farms a few minutes away that I will be getting my fried chicken from now on.

Delicious fried chicken and many interesting sides to try. The staff is very helpful and friendly which sets this place off from other fast food.

I was fortunate enough to be in town for work, and someone recommended I try this place out. It was fantastic the chicken was crispy and tender, and the mashed potatoes were phenomenal. Highly recommend this place, it was also very very affordable.
