Wamaki

"The head chef of Amis descent hailing from Taitung has over 20 years of experience in Japanese cuisine. At Wamaki, he creates kappo dishes over charcoal fire, using mostly Taiwanese produce and native herbs such as prickly ash seeds and Maqaw pepper. The chef even travels to his hometown on weekends to pick his own herbs. For lunch and dinner, there is only one set menu, but the chef can tailor the menu for you with advance notice." - Michelin Inspector

***Japanese cuisine with Taiwan ingredients and influence*** Wamaki’s use of Taiwan ingredients gives each dish an interesting twist in the flavor profile. Although the meal may look very simple from the photos, the food leaves you very satisfied. The grilling technique is top notch and further elevates the texture and flavor of each dish. This restaurant is highly recommended to try out.

I have to say I am so impressed with the food seasoned with Taiwanese aboriginal spices. Very innovative cuisine without showing off the chef's skills. The chef is proud of his cooking craft in every dish he prepares. Unfortunately we didn't take counter seats as that was more of a business dinner. Next time I will definitely take counter seats.

Do yourself a favor and come here. Best Omakase I had in Taipei. Awesome experience , not just the taste of the food. The interaction with the Chef and everything is out of this world. You can feel the warmth through his food and interactions.

I would say this is one of the best restaurant I have ever tried. Japanese infused with Taiwanese ingredients. No regrets coming here 😉

The best Japanese omakase we have had in Taiwan so far. Authentic Japanese food/ambient with a touch of local produce. The service is excellent! Not to spoil the fun, no food pictures were provided, but the empty plate looks pretty too! 😉

Top notch ingredients with simple yet thoughtful preparation. I believe this is run by a husband and wife team - both were super friendly!

Please give five star to the chef. He know more than you expected. But A little bit expensive which makes the CP ratio doesn't looks nice.
