"When I’m in the mood for Southern food, I go to Wanda J’s, where I always order the two-piece fried chicken with mashed potatoes, mustard greens, and cornbread." - ByBradley James Dry, as told to Jennifer Hope Choi

I went to lunch here with a friend. It was very good. Reminded me of eating at restaurants in the deep south. I recommend giving them a try. I had the fried catfish and mashed potatoes, green beans and roll. My friend had a grilled chicken sandwich and coleslaw. He told me his was very good. The waitress was on the ball.

Super good. I had the catfish plate and country fried steak plate. I like how even on the potato they don’t cheap out on the gravy. The catfish is beautifully fried to perfection. Portions are generous and prices are more than fair. Everyone inside is hard working and friendly. I really like the vibe inside. Every time I come to T town I have to stop by.

We had the catfish and liver and onions dinners. The catfish was seasoned well and fried hard. They give you two whole filets which was more than enough. It’s hard to find liver and onions anymore, and even harder to find it cooked right. Wanda J’s knows what they’re doing. Reminds me of eating it as a kid! The serving sizes are generous. The two diners with drinks came in at $30 and we had leftovers to take.

The service here was very good 👍! We felt like we were talking to a cousin or someone related to us. And being from out of town, it was nice to have that type of service. The food was good. I personally had the grilled 🥩 with mac and cheese and fried 🌽 on the cob. My wife had liver and onions, fried cat fish, greens, mashed 🥔 and gravy. She said the liver and onions was great! Everything else was ok. My pork was a little dry. But it was seasoned well. All in all, a good experience.

I had the beef tips on rice, fried cabbage, candied yams, and cornbread. Every single thing was incredible, I can’t wait to come back with friends and family…

I went to a local shop on Black Wall Street and asked for food recommendations. They recommended Wanda J's and their recommendation did not disappoint. The workers are so nice and accommodating. I was able to have a light conversation with my server as well as get recommendations for other things in town. It was very sweet of her to take the time to talk to me. The food is good too! There are options for everyone. I got a basic meal of chicken tenders, fries, mashed potatoes and corn bread. The food was very tasty and was a good portion. I highly recommend anything with mashed potatoes and corn bread as your side. One thing to keep in mind is that the location is small. So make sure to give yourself enough time if you go at a regular dining time just in case it's busy. They do carry out too if you'd like to take it back to your hotel/home.

Our lunch at this Southern Food Restaurant was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious! I chose the Catfish lunch with two sides, cornbread and ice tea. Every bite reminded me of the home cooking that I grew up with. I DEFINITELY will dine here again when in the area. Custom Service was great too.

You can't go wrong at Wanda J's ❤️😋 Monday special is 4pc dark or 3 breasts, 2 sides, and your choice of a roll or cornbread. Yum!

Yelp
Finally tried Wanda J's! I had heard so many good things about it, but my mom lives in South BA and it's by the airport, so when I visit it's literally the most inconvenient place to eat. But, I had to haul some stuff to the dump and it wasn't too far out of the way, so I brought my mom along with me and we took our chance! We weren't disappointed! We both got fried chicken. My mom stuck with the white meat, I went with the dark and it was the best, juiciest we've ever had. It definitely puts Popeyes and KFC to shame (although it wasn't spicy, and I'm not sure if they have that option). Their rolls were awesome also! The restaurant itself has a nice, clean atmosphere, though you do have to walk to another (attached) building for the restroom. My only complaint was their sides could've been a little better. They weren't bad, I just don't think they were homemade or anything. IMHO, nothing sets a restaurant apart from others more than one that has fresh green beens, not canned or real mashed potatoes and gravy, not instant.

Yelp
Delicious comfort food served with a smile. This hidden gem should be on everyone's bucket list. The chicken fried chicken, candied yams, and green beans are enough for two, but I could stop myself and finished all of it This place is no frills and kind of out of the way, but it's worth the trip. Give em a try

Yelp
Service was great. People were very accommodating. First glance walking in ,tables not clean chairs were sticky and tables were dirty as well. As we sat down we got our drinks, food, on time. About 30 min wait not terrible. I order fried catfish with a potato and pickled okra, all decent not bad. Catfish was slightly dry but had good taste. Pickled okra, was good nothing to complain about. One of my family members got chicken bites. Chicken was dry and mostly breaded, very little meat . My other family member order beans, had to get it heated up and then cooked a new batch due to it being cold. But the staff was very nice and got it taken care of. Now.. the reason this was a lower review was due to the fact of they had a carpet company start spraying cleaner while we were eating. And they have plenty of chemicals that don't need to be present while eating. Now yes it was past closing time and the company was probably in a hurry. But when it comes to customer safety that was not present.

Yelp
I ate here with a group of 10 people for lunch on a recent Tuesday. We came from the zoo and went to the air and space Museum after lunch. What a great option for lunch that is close to both attractions! Despite our large group size, we were seated immediately. Our server took care of us in a reasonable amount of time - drink orders first and then entrees. We opted for no appetizers or dessert in order to shorten our visit. I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken with cornbread, okra & tomatoes, and coleslaw. I was surprised and delighted when the server asked me which two pieces I wanted for my fried chicken. Normally, the default is two dark pieces, but you can order whatever two pieces you want. I like a leg and thigh, so that is what I chose. They were delicious. This place gets high marks for sending out the fried chicken too hot to touch and getting the skin crispy and crunchy. This is what KFC is when it's on top of its game. My favorite sides were the cornbread and the okra & tomatoes. They served me a decent chunk of cornbread. My favorite things about it were that it was not overly sweet and that it was a bit dry. I prefer dry cornbread to moist cornbread because it does a better job of sopping up juices. That is just what I needed for the okra & tomatoes. The broth was seasoned well, and the cornbread helped me to enjoy the broth. I didn't care for the coleslaw. It came out with very finely chopped cabbage in a dressing that was too sweet for me. I much prefer shredded cabbage in coleslaw, i.e. big enough chunks that you have to choose them a bit. I also prefer less sugar and more vinegar in the dressing. I tried using some black pepper but to no avail; some hot sauce finally balanced out the sweetness for me and made the coleslaw more to my taste. My family and I will definitely stop here for lunch the next time we visit the Tulsa Zoo or the Air and Space Museum.

Yelp
It wasn't the best location it was just hidden away. The food was so good but the peach cobbler was best. If I'm ever in the area again I will be back.

Yelp
The food here was amazing. I had the fried catfish with macaroni and cheese and fried cabbage and cornbread with a sweet tea. The fish was crispy just right, not greasy, never frozen. The mac & cheese was a little runny and needed salt, but was cheesy and good the fried cabbage tasted delightful. I could use a little extra bacon in there. It took approximately 17 minutes to receive my food. they was just starting to get busy but I'm guessing the fish was fried fresh large parking lot. Plenty of spaces. This restaurant recently relocated from Greenwood to this location. The owner is the son of Evelyn's Soulfood, which is the former restaurant that was here the soul food is the bomb, if you're looking for a home cooked southern style fresh eats, come on over here. Daily special yes, they have neckbones on Wednesday and short rib on Friday. Customer service was excellent waitresses was sweet and nice with a smile large portions, and that sweet tea.mm mmmm good.

Yelp
Def NOT impressed since the takeover from Evelyn's. Service is horrible in that since the takeover they have made some truly idiotic changes to this place. Its almost as if they are trying to ditch the old Evelyn's customers for some reason. 1st time I went I arrived about 10:10am. Under old management there was no problem with me ordering lunch at this time. Now lunch orders can't be placed until 10:30 am. I was told they would take my lunch order but not place it for 20 minutes until it became 10:30. But I could order a 2 piece chicken breakfast meal with breakfast sides. When it finally came out about 30 minutes later the chicken was done different than how Evelyn's did it and frankly it just wasn't as good. Not seasoned very well at all. Overall very underwhelming. Another customer there (there were only a couple of folks) told me the beans were no good anymore since they went to canned beans rather than fresh cooked ones which really makes no sense since they so easy to cook. Fast forward to 2day, I was going to call in a to go order so I could check out some other sides. Tried to order my goto 4 piece dark with yams and greens and was told that is a Monday special and I can't order it on Tuesday. I could get 4 piece mixed or a two piece dark and buy two dark pieces separately. Previously u could order all dark like u can at ANY place that sells chicken. Freakin crazy. Not sure who the brain donors are that are currently running this place into the ground but it's breaking my heart. Food and service here were phenomenal when it was Evelyn's. Now while the girl doing the serving is nice enough, the moronic changes made to the menu has insured that the quality of the food and overall experience is dismal. Can't see coming back for substandard food.
