Wander North Georgia

Wander is a must see! It’s a Clayton classic and whenever we visit my grandmother we come here to shop. It’s so unique and you can find something for anyone in your life! You all have done an amazing job!

Loved this store. The bookstore with local books downstairs was a nice addition. Really wishing I had grabbed the one on North Georgia hiking and waterfalls. My boyfriend got a record that he has had a hard time finding it was quite pleased. Amazing friendly staff. And don’t forget to do the Photo Booth!

This is a must stop store every time we visit Clayton. The store manager spent some time with us… he loved on our dogs and even though we didn’t make a purchase on this occasion he was just happy we stopped by! Love this place!

Made a trip to our favorite shop this weekend. Great stop as always! And thanks for being so accessible, made our trip even better being able to roll around the store so freely! Nice large isles and easily navigable entry ways with close parking made the visit nice.

A must-stop whether you’re driving through Clayton (or for us - an hour radius around Clayton) or staying in the area. They have something for everyone- socks, camping equipment, jackets, clothes, books, the best gifts for friends back home, ANNNND they have a fun Photo Booth to solidify your memory in an old school Photo Booth reel. Don’t sleep on this outdoorsy spot! Wander is our FAVORITE place to go and “wander” around inside!

I discovered a price discrepancy the day after I bought a shirt at the Clayton store. Per the instructions on their website I emailed the details and heard back from Josh within about a half hour (very impressed). He could not have been nicer or more gracious. I was able to send him a pic of the price tag and I had my credit back on my card within minutes. How refreshing to work with a store that sincerely appreciates their customers!

The most fun store with its own bookstore downstairs. I really wanted one of everything.

Beautiful store! We loved browsing through the many things offered here, but had to leave before we were truly finished. Would love to see them have some smaller car stickers available.

A must stop in Clayton! An outdoorsy gals dream! Great selection of clothing, shoes, gifts and gear. Super friendly staff and decent prices. The photo booth is a great edition! The perfect spot if you need to wander around or if you actually need some new gear :)

I want to live in this store. Everything you could possibly want for yourself or as a gift for someone else, they will have. Had a ton of stuff in the clearance section marked down to crazy low prices. Such a wide variety of books and kids stuff downstairs as well as really cute eclectic items. I went twice in two days because after the first time I knew there was so much more I wanted to get. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. When they source their items you can tell the thought that is behind each and every single thing and that there is some meaning. They also had a photo booth, how sweet is that!

My wife and I had the pleasure of shopping at Wander in Clayton, Georgia a few days ago while traveling through the area. We were warmly greeted by Jared who also let us bring in our senior Pug . Come to find out they are very dog friendly! We also met Richard who also works there and he was also super friendly to us and our pup. Richard also does dog rescues, which we found very cool! I did do some shopping and bought a very cool looking shirt. It is a very nice store with even nicer employees. So if you are in the area, Wander in (sorry, I couldn't help myself).

Great store, outstanding gear, friendly staff and very reasonable prices for downtown Clayton.

I find it very irritating that a store clerk stands at the front of the store and watches you the entire time you are shopping.

Such a cool store! So so much stuff I want to buy and I did. Great for the outdoorsy type and those enjoying the outdoors from a distance. Friendly staff made me feel like a local. Prices are a little high but I liked it so much I was happy to support the local economy. FTW- They have public restrooms! Yay!

After a much needed escape to another town up in the Northeastern Georgian mountain area. I am always scoping out new mountains and seeing if that's the next opportunity to take up. But needed to see to do something different. Popped in the downtown segment of Clayton, I walked the sweet lil shops and stumbled upon this. Mostly it's for hikers, they have a lot of supporting equipment, not as extensive as REI but some. Also their claim to fame are the tee shirts. Which I happily bought and a cap. Staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The icing on top of the cake is the library downstairs. If you love to read, they have a series of interesting choices along with some regional history books. Go check this place out.

This is a great store for tourists. Every time visitors come, we have to take them to Wander. They have T-shirts, hats, shoes, books, and all sorts of small stuff that you will want. And, they are located very conveniently on the corner of Main Street in Clayton. Go wander for a while; you'll enjoy the tour.

We are pretty close to Wander, about 20 minutes. We have stopped in multiple times. Great outdoor store! A lot of local goodies. It's a pretty big store, with 2 floors of all sorts of outdoor gear, clothes, camping gear, shoes, bags, etc. Downstairs there is stuff for kids and books as well. We always find something fun in here. Lots of lovely plants inside as well. (Not for sale.) Watch their Instagram for sales!! Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful. Make sure you check out their Photo Booth!

Super cool outfitters store. Great atmosphere with super cool staff. Great local and national brands. They just moved to a bigger location. So hopefully more great stuff coming soon! Defiantly worth stopping in here!

A cool, eclectic store in downtown Clayton, Georgia. It is a cool place to browse and there is a very good chance that you might find a must have item that you probably didn't know that you needed. I enjoyed visiting this store, honestly, I enjoyed visiting the town. Both have a great vibe. If you find yourself in this little pocket of America, check out the little wonder of downtown Clayton and seek out this little, locally owned store. Walk the store and open your soul to find that something you need. You will be better for the experience.

I was nervous about this store. My friend hipped it up, but it was everything and more. The people were super nice and welcoming. There is something interesting in every little nook of this store. The downstairs area takes the cake! The books are everything and I could definitely spent a whole day in this store, leaving broke and happy.

Such a fun store to stop into while in Clayton. You'll find more than hip or functional outdoor related items. You'll find extremely happy and helpful employee ready to assist you throughout the store. The shopping experience is In the store you'll find an assortment of goodies. Various t-shirts and tops carrying the Wander brand as well as all the socks of all sorts. There are many books to choose from, delish drinks, backpacks, kiddie gear, fun and functional clothing and shoes.. this place has it all. While a trip to the store is the ideal, if you find you want to order from home.. or far far away, you can order from their online store. Just as many great items to see and browse through. You just have to wait a short minute (shipping days) to enjoy your purchase.. but well worth it!

If you are looking for a gift for yourself, a friend, a love one or your dog... this is the place. They have books, candles, clothing and furry friend items. If you wear your own mask you get 5% off and if you don't have a mask, they have one for you. Appears they have a beer bar and ax throwing however both were closed. The team members are friendly and offer to help with finding something unique for you. Enjoy roaming around the store!

I didn't want to leave! I could've looked around here for hours. I generally walk in and out of touristy gift shops, feeling they're overpriced and having the same old kind of stuff. This store was different. There were unique items, the clothing was high quality, nice selection of footwear, all price ranges, areas to sit if your wife is taking too long, etc. My favorite was the downstairs area loaded with books. I purchased several Christmas gifts for friends and family. I'll certainly be back!

We only wish they would open up a location in Asheville! Wander North Georgia is an amazing business run by amazing people invested in their community. Everything they sell is carefully chosen for quality and design. They go beyond selling though and work hard to use their platform to advocate for responsible backcountry recreation while encouraging people to get outside. Though we are not in Georgia at their physical location often we just ordered our new face masks from them on their website. Shipping was super fast and now we are IN LOVE! Since the pandemic hit we have tried a half dozen masks and these are by FAR the best. The ear loops adjust and there is an air pocket in the front so the fabric is not smashed up against your nose. We can talk to our customers without sounding muffled and almost forget we are wearing them... Whether you are looking for outdoor gear to fuel your adventures (or a mask that doesn't stink) then this is the place you want to support! Attaching a photo of our new masks :)

100% Obsessed with this shop. Cute shop in downtown clayton that is a must-visit when you are in town for cabin visits. They've expanded the store and now there's a cute little sweets shop in the store. When you walk in, you'll see the cutest plants/succulent, clothing, candles, and more! They do a great job at sourcing local as well as having popular brands like cotapaxi, danner, Patagonia. We spent almost an hour or more in there looking at everything and trying not to spend all of our money. We ended up buying a rug for $39 and a basket from Ghana.

We wandered into Wander while wandering the streets of downtown. My wife wanted to enter Wander, and I wondered what Wander was all about. Turns out, it's a wonderful store. They have so many cool items in here to look at, and of course, to buy (or not to buy). One of my favorites was a notepad with Snoop Dogg on the top that had the caption of "Fo' Scribbles." Seriously, who finds these things? I have the Snoop Dogg cookbook at home, and should've bought the notepad too. Staff here was super friendly and I would definitely wander into Wander again in the future. It looks like they also offer axe throwing in the basement, but that was currently closed.

Love this store---particularly their incredible book selections. Wide-ranging and well thought out. I particularly like their progressive selections. Well done! I stop here on every trip to Clayton specifically to browse the books. Keep up the great work!

I make a special effort to visit this store every time I've traveled to north GA. They always have the neatest items and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. You can ask them about the nearest hiking trails and they can give you so much info about them. I love Wander. There clothes are such great quality. My husband has several hats and wears them almost everyday.

Great vibes! Great Merch! Great Place! : They have all types of hats, beanies, shirts, and more! They sale Camping and Climbing gear. There's an ice cream parlor and a pretty sweet hangout lounge in the back.

First of all, as the daughter of a small business owner, I know how important reviews are. And I'm happy to be able to leave a great one today! I'd followed this store on IG for a long while and finally got the chance to visit in person last month. Better than I even expected! The store is cozy, but not small, and the warm color tones and lighting are inviting. There is so much to see and browse through and the product offerings are very wide. The book display was unexpected and beautiful. Some of the nicer clothing was pricier than I expected BUT I totally respect the quality of the items and that you're supporting a small business. And the graphic design on their items is fantastic and truly gives that niche feel. The staff was incredibly nice and even humored my busy toddler. We can't wait come back and support this business again!

What a great local shopping gem for NE GA. You can buy anything from current books, toys, coffee beans, grits, clothes, camping gear and locally made hygiene products. It's easy to support this locally owned business with their wide selection and wonderful staff!

I absolutely love this place. WNG is my go-to for gifts because everything they offer is unique and awesome. I've gotten the silicone pint and wine "glasses" for friends with a lake house and they are always getting compliments on them. I have numerous shirts (so soft!) and hats and am always excited when they post new colors. On top of that, WNG has the nicest people and best service. We moved out of state, but I still ordered puzzles for birthday gifts as soon as I saw them hit the website and when they arrived I saw a sweet handwritten note on my receipt. Even if you can't visit, check out their Insta for awesome hiking and North GA pics! There's always something interesting.

I love everything about this store: the owners, the employees, the products, the location, their values! My partner and I often camp just north of Clayton and we make a point to go here at least once each trip. Their customer service cannot be beat either! They answer questions through social media almost immediately. Their shipping time is incredible. I ordered three t-shirts on Monday, they were in my mailbox Tuesday afternoon. Amazon doesn't even ship to me that quickly! If you live in Clayton/Rabun County, I highly recommend you support this business. If you're visiting Clayton, stop by and shop their store. If you're no where near the area, shop their online store. You won't be disappointed and you'll be supporting a family run business.

This was such a wonderful find. They had so many cool, useful, and interesting products. I could have spent hours and many hundreds of dollars here! Highly recommend stopping in and checking it out.

Lovely outdoor gear shop with fantastic customer service. The stock is high quality, and the employees go out of their way to help you think through your gear needs and then provide perfect product recommendations for you. Beyond the beautiful storefront, I am particularly struck by Wander's commitment to their community. They are consistently intentional about giving back. Right now, for instance, they are supporting their local food bank, despite the tight economic climate. Even though the front doors are closed right now, connect with them on social media. They're still making awesome product recommendations and doing everything they can to get you outfitted well. Great company, phenomenal team.

Take all my money, Wander North Georgia. It seems like all of their items are thoughtfully sourced with an emphasis on eco friendly, sustainable and socially conscious brands. This place has books (like books you'll actually want to read), games, cool threads and kicks, camping/hiking gear, and so much more for humans of all ages and interests. The items are high quality - no junk touristy stuff in sight. The staff are kind and super helpful. And, lastly, if you're worried about shopping during COVID, don't worry here. Masks are required and this is enforced. The store is big and social distancing is pretty easy. I hope you can rest assured that you're supporting a wonderful small biz while maintaining your own personal safety.

Love this local store. The staff is so friendly and helpful with helping us pick out shoes and a backpack. They have a wide selection of different things for hiking, souvenirs and products by other local businesses. The vibe was great.

Customer Service, Other, Quality, Wait Time, Environment So many unique items to chose from!

My first (in-person) impression: I finally visited Clayton to come see their store. Without thinking, I realized that I got there late and after closing time. I started window shopping - just peeking in to see what I missed, the workers/owners noticed, and opened the doors. They let me shop around while they closed up shop themselves. All the while still making sure that I was finding everything ok & having a good shopping experience. I've been back several times more with just as awesome experiences. I've visited admiral axe and have purchased several things online. I recommend both! I will forever support this business and their values. They support their small community, north ga, and nature all together. Their customer service is unmatched. Their brick and mortar store is probably the coolest store that I've ever stepped foot in. Needless to say, this review was a long time coming because it's been difficult to put into words how awesome this brand/store is.

Better store than you will find in Ashville! Burn!!!!!!!! Pricy for north Georgia but I am sure that Atlanta money will help.

I found this store through their Instagram account, which seems to be the trend here. If you don't follow their account yet, check it out! It helped me find a ton of cool spots to hike! On my recent trip up to the mountains, I stopped in Clayton to check them out in person. What a cool store and even cooler people! The staff was friendly and made great conversation. They gave us recommendations on where to eat and where to hike with our kids. The store itself had a ton of cool merchandise and I picked up a tank top that was a great material. I'm a sucker for soft shirts! Stop by and give them a shout out if you're looking for some great info on the area. Be sure to pick up some cool "Wander North Georgia" swag too!

I found this company after they liked one of my hiking post on Instagram. This place is more than just an outdoor store, they do events, have a cool spot to hang out, and have a great Instagram account. I love their branding and gear, I wish they did even more of their own clothing. I love their style!

I found Wander North Georgia on Instagram (like many people) and was pleased to find out that I would be driving through Clayton on my way home from Asheville. My husband and I stopped by their store to check out their retail. They have a cute store with t-shirts, sweaters, hats, and outdoor accessories. I loved that I was able to view their products in person as online shopping can sometimes not work out as planned. Wishing this company future success! Incredibly cool vibe enhanced by incredibly awesome owners. They've got it all - great accessories, tees + stuff and loads of first hand information on local hikes, trails, waterfalls, mountains, etc. if you haven't been - go. If you have, you'll be back!

Wander is a MUST SEE when you're in Clayton. By far the best tees and hats and unique goodies. I mean they had a Cardi B Birthday card that my teen loved! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy. Their community involvement and give back opportunities are top notch. I wish more small businesses were like Wander. Alex & Josh are pioneers and should be praised on so many levels. We always stop in even if we dont need anything. And we always leave with great stuff and more joy than when we entered. Keep up the awesome work. We see you and you're rocking it!

A very unique gem of a store. Their branding is awesome and while I'm not outdoorsy, I am a fan of a cute t-shirt, water bottle, or pair of sunglasses. Stop in, follow them on instagram and you too can feel super cool.

My favorite store in Clayton! Awesome folks run the place and they have a huge selection of outdoor related stuff. Hats, shirts, hoodies, chacos, some kids toys, trail books, greeting cards, trail gear, and so much more! Ice cream and beer selection are new. They are knowledgeable of the area and can help you find local trails, waterfalls, attractions, etc. Definitely stop in if you're ever passing thru Clayton!

This store is absolutely amazing. So many awesome unique outdoor things to look at! And the costumer service is UNBELIEVABLE! We really wanted an item that they were not actually selling and they happened to have an extra in the back and GIFTED it to us! Just amazed by how intentional they are with their costumers.

We can not rave enough about Wander. We vacation up in Clayton a few times a year and Wander is always a place we have to go in. The staff is so extremely friendly and their selection of goods are so unique and exciting. The inventory is constantly changing and growing so you never know what you're going to find! Hats off to the owners for making it such a great place! Whenever we are feeling homesick for the mountains we just check out Wander's Instagram page and swoon over what they're up to!
