Minnesota’s First Black Woman-Owned Brewery Aims to Open in St. Paul’s Rondo Neighborhood | Eater Twin Cities

"When it opens in early 2025 in St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood, Bubble Line Brewing Company is planned to be Minnesota’s first Black woman-owned brewery. Founder and head brewer Brittney Mikell — a University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy graduate who started homebrewing during the pandemic and named the brewery after a chemistry term she learned at Carleton College — is crowdfunding the launch and is nearly halfway to a $20,000 friends-and-family goal. Her vision blends standard styles with proprietary flair: lagers and IPAs alongside a Honeycrisp apple blonde ale (a Minnesota homage that accents sweet, juicy apple notes over the blonde’s gentle maltiness), espresso drinks, and a hoppy, nonalcoholic ghost pepper lemonade, with THC drinks under consideration. Beyond beer, she plans kid-friendly spaces, apprenticeships for brewers of color, a home-brew library corner, community events (and even a three-on-three basketball tournament if space allows), living wages for staff, and environmental sustainability; she already has a team and an architect and is searching for a Rondo building while preparing a larger PR push." - Justine Jones

Wandering Leaf Brewing is a standout spot. As soon as you walk in, you notice the plants. They’re everywhere, and not just for decoration. The place actually smells like fresh air, like being in a greenhouse or garden. It’s a calming, natural atmosphere you don’t usually find in a brewery. The space is big, with a lot of room to spread out, and it feels open thanks to the three huge garage doors they open up when the weather is nice. They’ve got three pinball machines tucked inside, which adds some fun. The beer lineup is strong. The Pale Ale is clean and well balanced. The Sour is bright and not overpowering. The Seltzer is crisp and really well made. All three are worth ordering. One of the best parts is how dog friendly it is. You can bring your dog inside or hang out on the spacious patio, and both feel equally welcoming. That’s getting harder to find. Overall, this place nails it on atmosphere, drinks, and vibe. Definitely one to come back to.

4.7 stars feels about right. Loved the bright and green space of this little gem. I tasted two of their brews and both were solid & true to style. Due to the location there isn't a huge or fantastic outdoor space, but there is one and I suspect they will spruce it up with plants when the weather warms up. I will definitely be going back. I know I'd love to hang out here on a cold or gloomy day because of all the plants. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

We’ve passed by Wandering Leaf so many times to or from the airport and finally decided to pop in after a hike at Fort Snelling. We were SO impressed. The indoor area is gorgeous, the bathrooms were clean and very accessible for those with kids, and the outdoor patio was very enjoyable on a warm spring day. The beer selection was pretty good! We enjoyed the diversity and the multiple NA options of beer isn’t your thing. Hopefully we will be back again!

Wandering Leaf Brewing was a fun brewery with customers that seemed to really like it. It is a big open space with tons of tables and a LOT of plants with nice light. On my stop they had a fruited sour, west coast IPA, 2 hazy IPAs, American IPA, Blonde ale, Vienna lager, a dill gose, German dark lager, black lager, rye brown, English style porter, and a Czech pils. I tried all their darker styles, all were very good. Service was friendly, music was good, they have pinball, a large patio, and they like dogs. I would stop again.

Great beer, excellent service and a really cool taproom. There is an amazing set of plants in the taproom which gives a really nice feel to the space. There is a large patio, open on hot summer days or that 1st hint of spring. One of my favorite taprooms!

A very cool brewery space with lots of hanging plants throughout. The vibe is laid back and very welcoming. The brewery has lots of different varieties for each beer drinker. I had the Ancient Armadillo which was very hoppy and pleasantly bitter on the finish. This spot is a must stop!

This is kind of in a strip mall type area. Very pretty inside! They have a little bit of everything to choose from for beers. I had the Another Cenobites the Dust, it's a sour. It was very good. The best part, they allow dogs inside! They provide water dishes for your furry babies. Their restrooms are nice, and they also provide feminine products at no charge, which you don't see anywhere anymore. We would come back here!

Super fun atmosphere! They have enough seatings with comfortable chairs. Saw a variety of people from families with dogs to couples. Their beer selection is good and the plants are gorgeous. Highly recommend the blackberry twist and creeping lotus
