Wanderlust Wine Company Is Opening a Second Location in East Austin | Eater Austin

"Opening a second location in East Austin’s Govalle neighborhood at 702 Shady Lane (opened July 19), this spacious, half-acre taproom occupies the 13,000-square-foot space vacated in 2020 by a previous winery. The new outpost mirrors the original downtown spot with around 80 wines on tap—many offered self-pour—plus two to three rotating food trucks and a relaxed, walkable layout that lets guests carry drinks and food between the taproom and the adjacent lot, which will house a coffee roaster serving beer, coffee, and cocktails using Progress Coffee. Owner Sammy Lam launched the business in April 2020 with wine-to-go and online classes, restored self-serve service in May 2020, and has used initiatives like a founder’s club (a daily free glass for members) while deferring plans to produce his own wine to focus on expanding taprooms; he also hopes to grow into neighboring properties such as Hi-Sign Brewing and a forthcoming cocktail bar on 7th. Initial hours are 3–9 p.m., with plans to extend them by mid-September." - Erin Russell

Had an awesome time here for the broadway sing along/karaoke with themed drinks and trivia. It gets packed shortly after opening so come early to get good seats. Also the drinks are very weak. You will need multiple and they are pricey. 3 cost roughly $45, but they are fun. The bubbling one in the video and the smoked rosemary one were our favorites. If they added more alcohol vs more syrup and mixers the price would be worth it. Also they have a food truck out back that brings the food to your table. Absolutely loved the fries.

showed up today 10/1 for a Non refundable reservation made on 9/29 it’s advertised as a 90 minute interactive experience but it’s not really interactive and definitely not worth $50 for 2 people also parking was like $12 so basically paid $62 for 2 drinks that weren’t that interactive they just have dry ice and the other one changed color but it was hard to see. it was also very empty the vibes felt awkward and everyone was just sitting on their phone very low energy the decor, and employees were nice it just sucks how much you have to pay when you show up and the drinks were advertised as like $16 each lol definitely don’t think it’s worth this much, there’s better spots in austin to spend this much on and actually be worth your time and money such as tiki tatsuya! 💗 love that spot anyways here’s the “interactive drinks”

Wanderlust wine Company is an interesting bar. I really don’t know what to make of it. We bought tickets from an Instagram post, which made it look amazing. It was really festive, but was underwhelming. You buy your tickets and it entitles you to a welcome drink, but you have to buy other drinks if you want to drink something else. The welcome drink was horrible. We couldn’t take more than two sips. Whereas people who walked in after us didn’t buy tickets, and while they paid one dollar extra per person than what we did, they were able to get any drink off the menu. So if you bought tickets in advance, you were screwed with your drink selection. The nice thing about this place is they really decorate it full of flights and it has a nice holiday feel. However the people there are not mingling around, they’re sitting down playing bingo. I just feel this isn’t the trendy crowd and was not what they make it out to be. It was a big disappointment. If you want to go off the holiday season for a beer, I think it would be a decent place. If you want to spend money to have horrible drinks and just sit around playing bingo, this might be for you. My recommendation is not to go. There are other places that are more festive and can put you in the holiday mood with laughter and great drinks.

We had the best time here for Drag Brunch Sundays! The place is super cute! I suggest getting here 30 min early to find a table. The tables up front are all reserved for large parties but there’s tables in the back that are first come first serve. We walked in at 12:30 and had no problem finding a spot for 3 people. Bring dollar bills to tip the queens. No food is served here but there's a taco truck outside. We had brunch at Sawyer & Co before and came over to enjoy the show and drink! Can't wait to come back!

We visited Wanderlust during what is considered their soft opening. There is a lot of work still being done, but what they have so far is wonderful. Our bartender, Ashley, was very helpful, and knowledgeable about the wine selections. Every staff member was welcoming, and offered seemingly genuine conversation and curiosity. I look forward to checking out the grand opening and enjoying more wine from the tap. What a great concept to pay by the size of the pour. The decorations are so cool, and the variety of style throughout the building is incredible. I will definitely be going back. I’m excited to try all of the wine options here

Went to a Yelp elite event at Wanderlust featuring Wanderlust sangria, DIY Autumn Centerpiece Workshop, Signature VIA 313 pizza, a pumpkin patch photo op. It’s a fun venue! Appreciated all the staff making our evening fun! Anyone can be a yelp elite! Scan the barcode and apply! We’d love for you to be at the events!

Love the art deco! Variety of areas to seat, including a room with artificial grass. Large room has many picnic tables with transistor radios and manual typewriters adorning them. Excellent selection of wine and sangria. Provides a great opportunity to try a variety of regions of wines that you would be unable to do in a restaurant setting. However, it is expensive. I had less than a glass and a half and spent over $20. There are 3 food trucks, but they were closed when we were there (Sunday). This would be a great place for a group event or just a large group attendance (that happy hour people forget to RSVP for--this is the place to accommodate them!). It is so spacious in the main room. Parking is an issue.  It's only available on the street: so carpool or rideshare.

Awesome place to stop for wine! Huge selection, great vibe inside, everyone is friendly. Tons of inside seating and several different rooms to chose from. The wine is sold by the ounce so you can try before you get a glass. They also have some slushy/frozen selections for some hot days. Seating and a food truck outside so definitely a place you can stop for a while.
