Ok. So. I am legally blind. I mean I can't see anything. Just kidding, I can. But, #BARELY. So I have been getting glasses every couple of years for over a decade now but this was my first pair I purchased no longer on my parent's insurance. Needless to say, I was super intimidated and actually dreading it. But then I was like "I'm a strong black woman and I'm going to get whatever pair I want, cuz I'm grown, boo"
So I went to Warby Parker. Im not even going to talk about the transformation of 8th Street N.W. right now because you wouldn't believe me anyway. Let's just say that if things hadn't changed so much, the only people who would be shopping at Warby on 8th would be your local crackhead.
Anyway, after looking at every pair on the website every day for three weeks, I finally took a Lyft to the actual store and then after trying on EVERY PAIR, taking pictures in the photo booth, asking the girl if I looked cute for the 67th time, I finally chose the pair that this dude said gave him "sexy librarian vibes."
Bingo. Exactly what I was going for. Cuz you know, you need glasses that are trendy enough to go with your man repelling outfit but won't actually repel men.
Everyone in the store was so nice. The girl who rang me up, continued to compliment me, measured my face and then I payed UNDER $200! I have never purchased prescription glasses for so cheap in MY LIFE. And this is with the scratch resistance, anti glare, shipping, handling, everything! Also, everything went smoothly with my insurance, I just asked for an invoice and waited for my reimbursement.
The only things were, it did take me a while to get them BUT it was the holidays, like I literally ordered them on December 20th. And it was HELLA crowded in there, like it was hot in the winter because people were so pressed. And it's like that every time I walk by. Like dang, do all of these people really need glasses??? What is in the water? Are GMOs making us blind???
Anyway, love my glasses and I'm secretly a lifetime customer.
