"Ulla Winbladh was originally built as a steam bakery for the 1897 Stockholm World Fair and is set in charming parkland beside the Skansen open-air museum. Sit on the terrace or in the older, more characterful part of the building. Typical Swedish dishes include the likes of fish roe and sweet and sour herring." - Michelin Inspector

We were recommended by a local to try this place and we are so grateful that he'd shared this gem with us. This place isn't just a restaurant, it's an institution. I believe this restaurant has been operating for quite sometime, serving locals and tourists. From the moment we walked in to when we left, the FOH team presented themselves as professionals. The food was simply amazing. Possibly the best toast skagen we had. The location itself was accessible. After your meal, you can visit one of many attractions on Djurgarden. If we'd ever visited Stockholm again, this will be our first stop. Thank you for your hospitality.

Welcome to Wärdshuset Ulla Winbladh, a Stockholm legend! This isn't just a restaurant; it's a beautifully preserved piece of Swedish history nestled on royal Djurgården, dating back to the 1897 World Fair. Walking in feels like stepping into a cozy, elegant countryside inn (Wärdshuset), even though you're in the middle of the capital. The food is the definition of Swedish classics perfected: think the most decadent Toast Skagen with löjrom, flawlessly prepared Biff Rydberg, and meatballs that taste exactly like the ones your Swedish grandmother *should* have made. It's refined comfort food, served in a setting so charming, you expect a royal carriage to pull up outside (which, given the location, might actually happen!). Come for the tradition, the crackling atmosphere, and the guaranteed best version of *husmanskost* (home cooking) you will ever experience. 🙏🏻🕯👑☘️🇸🇪🕊✝️🇻🇦⭐️

The prices are quite low for such a pompous place. The veal liver was divine, probably the best I tried: it melted in the mouth even when already cold. The meatballs were good.

We had dinner at Wärdshuset Ulla Winbladh and were truly impressed by the beautiful, serene location and the well-maintained gardens—both indoor and outdoor. The setting is peaceful and elegant, and cleanliness throughout was outstanding. However, the dining experience fell well short of expectations. With the exception of the head waiter who welcomed us warmly, the entire service staff appeared exhausted and disengaged—no smiles, no warmth, even when tipped. This was consistent across tables, not just ours. The food, unfortunately, was very disappointing. The bread was cold, hard, and clearly not fresh. The butter was so firm it crumbled. I ordered the poached cod dish—what arrived was a bland, thawed-tasting fillet with no sauce, just a sprinkle of salt and a single dill sprig. It was served over bland, clearly frozen nano-sized shrimp and crumbled egg bits, accompanied by a side of plain boiled potatoes—which, ironically, were the best part of the dish. My friend ordered the herring and found it barely edible. With only nine main dishes on the menu, we expected focus and quality. Sadly, what we received was far below standard for a restaurant of this reputation and price point. A beautiful venue—worth a walk around—but not worth dining at unless major changes are made to food quality and staff engagement.

Lovely dinner, the meatballs were a tad dry on the inside, but the mash and the gravy were amazing. The starters were wonderful. Recommend the toast skagen

Amazing christmas dinner as usual, only missing the vegan/vegetarian part of it. But there was a separate almost like tasting menu for vegans available at least!

Beautiful restaurant, makes you feel at home. I loved the traditional swedish food on menu. Great location to catch up with friends. Only hope I get to go during summer.

A beautiful restaurant near to the Vasa Museum serving authentic Swedish Cuisine. Food is excellent and I highly recommend the Veal Liver, it's very delicious and the portion is large, not easy to find this dish in other restaurants in Sweden. Service is attentive and friendly and the outdoor seating has a very good atmosphere. A must try whenever you're in Stockholm.
