Love this place! Educational museum and lots to look at. The special events are always done perfectly. The staff, and volunteers, are all nice and knowledgeable. If you are a fan of aviation and history, it's worth the visit.

I’m originally from Afghanistan, but I currently live in Dallas, Texas. I recently traveled to Idaho, where a friend of mine — who lives in Orofino, about five hours from Nampa — came to meet us. He invited us to visit the Warhawk Air Museum, and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience 🤩. One moment that really stood out for me was seeing flags from many different countries on display — but unfortunately, not Afghanistan’s. That made me feel a little sad. However, at that very moment, my friend found and gifted me an Afghan military hat. That small gesture meant a lot to me, and I was truly happy to see something representing my country there. The Warhawk Museum is truly admirable. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. One of the employees took time to patiently answer all our questions and guided us throughout the visit with a warm attitude. I sincerely hope that the management of this museum recognizes and appreciates such dedicated and respectful staff members. Many thanks to the administration for creating such a memorable experience 🌟

We went to the Warhawk Air Museum as a part of our trip to utah, and man it was so fun! They have scavenger hunts for kids (they look for certain artifacts) that can gain them a price, and are relatively easy. They also have a bunch of retired veterans everywhere, so if you ever need help, they were there. I do admit though, some of them acted like our personal guides, which we appreciated but it made it very hard to have a thought on anything we were seeing because he was going so fast. Most of the photos were from the Japan section, but there are so many stories behind every artifact! There are basically 3 parts to the museum, front, middle, and back/out door. Or that’s at least as far as we explored. There were NO BATHROOMS that we saw, so be prepared. Museum was an over all awesome experience!

Great weekend hanging out with the family. We came from California and spent a few hours at the museum. Lovely place. There is so much to see

My son loves military planes and WWII history. We planned an overnight close by during a road trip and stopped in at the Warhawk museum before heading out of town. It was so cool! A cool old guy immediately offered to show us around and gave us a quick tour laced with great stories about the different displays. My 14 year old and I both loved it. We spent a little time looking through the binders of different service members and Medal of Honor recipients. Very uniquely organized place.

Google
A good collection of beautifully-maintained aircraft, but what sets this place apart are all of the historical documents that have been reproduced and made available for visitors to review. It would be possible to spend an entire day here.

Google
The Warhawk Air Museum is incredible. The docents are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There's a lot of history in this building and you won't be disappointed by what you see...

Google
This old airplane museum is a gem for history buffs, especially those into WWII. The collection of aircraft is impressive, showcasing iconic planes from the era. What really makes the visit special, though, is the knowledgeable staff—many of whom are veterans with firsthand stories to share. It’s a place filled with history, passion, and fascinating details. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Best museum in Idaho. Great volunteers who show off all the interesting displays from WWI to present day.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times- once for the museum and once for the annual pancake breakfast. It never gets old and you can tell all the volunteers really love being here. My husband loves relating to the old timers but there's also more modern items now like the Berlin Wall. There are tons and tons of things to see on display and even more in the personal binders. If you're into military history- this is your spot.

Yelp
The first time I came here, it was the first Tuesday of the month and there was an interesting speaker. Today, I brought my brother who is visiting from out of state. There are vintage war planes that I believe are all airworthy. There are uniforms, helmets, rifles and pistols, bayonets, and other wartime paraphernalia. There are photos, and folders and folders of stories about the brave men and women of the military. There are vintage armored cars and helicopters. There are two vintage cars in mint condition. And so much more. They have volunteers around that can add some richness to your experience. Today, I had a gentleman who regaled me with stories of his time in the Army in Viet Nam and as a policeman in Pendleton, OR, and Anchorage, AK. I plan to go back sometime soon, by myself, so I can sit and read the stories of the veterans featured in the folders and binders on the long table at the entrance the the museum. So much history!

Yelp
Excellent visit. Super friendly and helpful volunteers. Very detailed... you could spend hours here. Would be a great place to visit if you love history, just learning or have a project to work on. This would be the best research place for World War I or II and some Vietnam. So much more than aircraft here, stories of people's lives and history as Americans in war.

Yelp
Amazing fine! Very friendly staffing and great plane and collections on display! A must see for anyone who loves history! PLH

Yelp
I had a spare day in Treasure Valley and was encouraged to consider a trip to Nampa and visit the Warhawk Air Museum. That was a great idea. I "pre-toured" on their website and it was very helpful by giving me an idea of what to expect. Once there, what really moved me were the hundreds of scrapbooks prepared by WWII vets or their family. Most included memories of their time in the service along with photos, letters home, and documents from those times. These are stories from the Greatest Generation that will now live on long after they pass. It's truly the heart of this museum's collection. The volunteers were plentiful and always available. I watched as a WWII vet discussed Bomber Jackets with one of these volunteers. Both were enjoying the moment and filling in gaps in their recollections. Much of the museum's holdings are donations of vets of their uniforms, ribbons, and memorabilia. Each of these display cases identifies the soldier and adds necessary details to the items on display. What a wonderful way for these brave Americans to leave behind their treasured possessions. There were beautifully restored planes and cars, military artwork, and home front keepsakes to be enjoyed and reflected upon. Truly a gift to all who visit. The museum is primarily WWII focused but they have significant holdings from WWI and the post WWII fields of battle. The latter collection seems to be where they are looking to expand. They even have a section devoted to America's space program. This is simply a must see institution. If you are local, visit often, and if you are visiting the area from out of town, plan to spend several hours with these fine people. It is worth every minute to reflect upon and appreciate the devotion of these heroes.

Yelp
I love being wrong. I keep setting a low expectation on these sort of museums and sites, assuming that all the good stuff is only in the big cities. I mean, this is NAMPA. This isn't even BOISE. This is a very small city. And yet... WOW! This is more than just a museum of airframes. And yes, they have some amazingly beautifully restored aircraft on display here including a F104A Starfighter and a P-51C Mustang and a pristine UH-1C "Huey" Iroquois helicopter. Cars? Yes. A 1936 Dodge Coupe, a 1927 Studebaker Coupe, a 1942 Halftrack M15A1. The museum is also the home of tons and tons of memorabilia, written histories and video interviews with the veterans who wore it, fought in it and used it out there in the military theaters around the world. Without rushing, you can spend at least three hours here. And if you're patient and detail oriented and curious? A full day would do it. This is five stars awesome in a small city off I-84 west of Boise. Make the time to check it out. [Review 17757 overall - 36 in Idaho - 1278 of 2022.]

Yelp
This place is really outstanding. They have an unbelievable amount of stuff to see packed into this museum. It's a great experience every time I go. When they put on events, they're always fun. You must see this place if you haven't!

Yelp
Curtiss P-40 Warhawk could be the reason why the Allies won WWII. Without air power armies on the ground become defenseless. They have a aisle dedicated to the Flying Tigers and many other binders and shelves displaying personal stories and memorabilia of each veteran. The entrance fee is $14 and it supports this not-for-profit organization they have many programs that helps with PTSD veterans. The museum started in 1986 with just two WWII era airplane but since have expanded to include materials from all major wars. With the exception of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, the Warhawk Air Museum is the best aviation museum in the country. MISSION STATEMENT: To educate the world about the cost of freedom and honor those who paid its price.

Yelp
So much history and things to see and read. We went with two elderly people and they were able to get around as well at they had chairs through out so they could rest. Awesome experience
google avatar

Yelp
There is a large selection of reading materials along with beautiful and rare cars and aircraft! Definitely would go again just to read more of their library!

Yelp
Amazing museum that surpassed what we imagined it would be. It contains personal memorabilia of those who have served. There was so much to look at that we definitely would plan on coming back.

Yelp
I decided on taking my son and daughters to visit the Nampa Warhawk Air Museum and was not let down. From the outside, like a kid waiting at an amusement park, I was ready to get inside and start looking. My family was immediately greeted by a warm welcome and the gift shop was right there. But my attention was caught by what waited behind the wall volunteer at the entrance. My thought was like most other museums I have visited, it would be a mix of pictures, planes and a military vehicle or two. Let my just say that the way everything was presented, it is not your normal museum. It could take a couple of hours or longer if you really look at the entire facility as it is presented. From pictures of soldiers from different eras and their stories written down, to their medals, pictures and other memorabilia that is there for you to see and appreciate. My kids loved the history and seeing actors who have served being shown in uniform. The notes, the various military equipment from helicopter to tract to the jets and planes, awesome. Come visit and appreciate all that has been collected for us to enjoy. Thank you to the volunteers and families who have donated to make this a great place to visit.

Yelp
My father was a WWII veteran so the museum was a no brainer while I was in Boise. This is place has so many artifacts and documents you can spend days just walking around and reading. Everything is well preserved and documented. The aircraft are like the day they rolled off of the assembly lines. You will find an area dedicated to WWII and another area for the Cold War. I spent more time in the WWII area, but both are with many hours of exploration time. This is not just a museum, but a preservation facility. They have a few Deuce and a Half's outside and an aircraft that is under restoration. The staff were awesome. I spent some time with the gentleman working on the aircraft outside. You can tell everything here was rebuilt and preserved by individuals who really and truly love their work and the history they are preserving. If you are a history fan this is a great place to visit and support. Enjoy and learn lots!!

Yelp
Nostalgia, memories and most importantly honoring those who've come before us. It sends shivers down my spine when I see all the beautifully restored artifacts from the WWII era. History is something we all must study, remember and be careful not to repeat. The prices in their museum are exquisite, and the ability to roam at your leisure makes it even more inviting. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Please, bring your children and show them some of America's greatest generations past, they will thank you for it later.

Yelp
Really great historical museum. The volunteers are amazing and so helpful. There is so much to look at and read about. This could easily take a few hours. Or split up of different days to really immerse yourself in each section.

Yelp
Fantastic military museum. It will take hours to really soak it all in. They have a treasure hunt for children which my grandchildren really liked. They also have a coloring station. The docents are cheerful and helpful. The self guided tour gives you tons of information about the brave men and women who have served our country. We will go back next time we are in the area.

Yelp
Let me tell you....this is MORE than an aviation museum this is a living memorial to men and women who gave their all for our glorious country. Give yourself lots of time as there is case after case of memories to peruse. The planes are amazing, the cars are beautiful and the seemingly endless displays are awe inspiring. Take your time and see everything! We were lucky enough to meet John Paul, the founder of this museum and the builder of the P-40's that reside here. He took us on such a thoughtful and information filled tour I wanted it to go on forever. He truly loves this place and the Veterans and Public it serves. I will be back....many more times! Thank you Mr. Paul for curating these priceless memories for all to see.

Yelp
Great history museum!! Totally worth checking out if you like amazing displays of war memorabilia and planes. My boyfriend we're stopping in town and we had a wonderful time here!! 5/5 tourist approved :)

Yelp
Great WW2 air museum. Had many personal accounts of the war. Beautiful WW2 airplanes as well as some newer aircraft including a Soviet Mi-21 Fishbed. I highly recommend.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Awesome place and great historical stuff there. This place is a gem. A great history lesson and awesome displays and aircraft.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Like going there for the history and for events. Since so much of history taught these days is revisionist it's nice to have a place where you know things are correct. We need to do more for our military. They do so much for us.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Want to truly "feel" and appreciate American history? This is the place to do it. Makes me feel and appreciate what my grandpas may have gone through and what they were working with. A true American treasure!
google avatar

Yelp
If your even remotely interested in aviation, WW1, WW2 plus you need to check this museum out!

Yelp
Very well done! The war birds were cool, but the place is packed with personal memories. You could spend hours reading.... The have chairs and tables to accommodate. It will take an hour to glance at things, but plan on a few to take it all in. A number of cool cars on display also. Don't pass this one up!
google avatar

Yelp
Found this little gem when looking for ideas on good indoor activities for the day . To be honest didn't do too much research just saw it come up for air museums and was pleasantly surprised to discover so much more !! Awesome pieces of history throughout building and was greeted by some of the nicest war veterans ever ! They showed us around excitedly with so much knowledge that we had such a better experience because of this and learned a great deal of history ! We left with such a good impressions and hope to pass on to others to come check this place out !

Yelp
Absolutely incredible museum- don't miss it! Lots to see and read, I like it better than the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle. Personal stories, so many genuine artifacts and the BEST docents to teach you and answer questions. Go here!

John S.

Yelp
A great museum in Nampa for World War II and after associated memorabilia, including highlighting nursing and other personnel. Great airplane examples, of course. There are guest lecturers scheduled. I saw one presented by a nurse who experienced the Vietnam era.

Yelp
I can see that some other reviewers were disappointed that the Warhawk Air Museum only has a few airplanes on display. Although I can understand this disappointment I feel that they more then make up for that small deficiency with an absolute plethora of military and war related memorabilia! I was very impressed by the many, many displays of war memorabilia, including the private collections of many airman and soldiers. The people at the Warhawk Air Museum have done a wonderful job memorializing the personal histories of many veterans. These displays include uniforms, personal photos, awards and medals, guns, war trophies and other personal items from United States men and woman who served in the armed forces. It was remarkable to see these collections because it told the personal side of the wars and conflicts that our country has been involved in. Besides memorabilia, the Warhawk Air Museum also features several airplanes, a helicopter, several restored classic cars, and many other interesting and unique items. Overall I was impressed by the Warhawk Air Museum and would definitely recommend visiting it. It is a well curated, well organized museum and well worth your time.

Allen P.

Yelp
The first time I went there was 2011 and they have a little bit of everything even a section for service men who served on Submarines and all the armed services. The place has grown a lot since 2011.
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
Great museum! They have tons of memorabilia that is well organized. They have absolutely outstanding docents that really enjoy sharing their knowledge. There is a very nice gift shop as well. Definitely a great stop! We'll be back to see more next time we're in the area.

Billie N.

Yelp
I was (and still am) amazed at the variety of information available at the Warhawk Air Museum. My first time there was over ten years ago. There is improvement seen during every visit. It would be very easy to spend days reviewing all of the artifacts. Now that we have moved to Middleton from California, I have all intentions of enjoying every "nook & cranny" of this museum. Yes, DAYS for certain.
google avatar

Barbara B.

Yelp
SOOO interesting! Have been going to stop and check out the Warhawk museum for YEARS, and finally found time to do so. No regrets. It's like stepping back in time... a true 'time capsule' of information, literature, memorabilia, artifacts. So many personal items and scrapbooks to browse through! It felt... emotional. Like having the opportunity to go through a military veteran's attic and see, hear and feel the emotion of the experience through the eyes of the men and women who served. So glad that these precious momentos are being preserved! I'm going to go back and take the grand kids. Just seeing the awesome planes will be a thrill for the younger ones!

Chris T.

Yelp
Very interesting museum! Amazing WWII displays and amazing historical information! I highly recommend visiting this place!

Tom G.

Yelp
One of the most awesome museums you will ever go to. While there are many aircraft, there is so many other historic items from WWI and through the Cold War. There is an unbelievable amount of notebooks of individual service members experiences you can look through. There were so many volunteers all willing to share their knowledge about many of the exhibits. Especially interesting is the story behind the restored helicopter (Vietnam era) and the pilot of "The Boise Bee". If you love military history, this is a must visit museum.
google avatar

Lindsey R.

Yelp
my husband and I had driven by here a couple times and thought we would pop in for a visit. so glad we did! it is a little pricey to get in ($12 a person for adults), but we were in there for a good 3 hours and still didn't even come close to seeing everything in the place! it is overwhelming the amount of artifacts and pictures associated with all the wars for the last 100 years in there. stories, and uniforms, and trinkets- weapons like swords, guns, grenades, missles- planes, jets, cars, and even a helicopter! it is so much to look at and see- you definitely won't be bored. the best part about the place is the volunteers that walk around. a lot of them are veterans, one guy was a mechanic for united...all of them are enthusiasts. they have lots of facts of their own, and can point you to cool things to look at in the museum. I recommend talking with them, it made the whole experience even better. looking forward to coming back again!

Yelp
I love history and because of that, I love this museum!! The displays and artifacts are fantastic and the safe was helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Nathan J.

Yelp
One of the most cool sites in the area, this is one of the places I take people from out of state when I want to show off fun and interesting things nearby. You can't help but feel a little patriotic when visiting here, and some of my earliest memories are of my grandparents taking me here as a kid. Definitely a memory worth repeating with future generations.
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
I love going to this museum. I grew up across the street from the Warhawk museum. Well visiting my grandparents. I love seeing the airshows. Those event eventually inspired me to join the Air force. Thank you to all the employees and volunteers. Keep up the good work. I will be there again and again. I hope to teach my kids what freedom and sacrifice is. Part of that is visiting the Warhawk museum.
google avatar

Carey L.

Yelp
Do not give this place your debit card. They know there systems are having issues and they won't tell you. They charged my card 9 times while on a trip with my family. They didn't care and said nothing they can do. Wait 4 days
google avatar

Brett A.

Yelp
Good family Vetern atmosphere. Up close and personal stories about the exhibits and live history story telling
google avatar

Allan C.

Yelp
It's sort of funny how this is a Warhawk museum and there's only one Warhawk... but anyway, this place was pretty neat, especially if you're into any sort of history, definitely check this place out. There's plenty to look at and read (they actually stuff e-mails in how they get some of this stuff). I'm not sure if it warrants the admission price, but if you're finding yourself looking at this review anyway, you're probably already interested enough to check it out.... so go!
google avatar

Y C.

Yelp
Best place to learn about history and world war ll. Support local museums! I love it kids will love it.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
This museum is a living history of what our veterans fought and died for. We must never forget what they and their families sacrificed so much to preserve.

Sandra K.

Yelp
Wonderful museum packed with beautifully restored planes, helicopters, jeeps, cars, etc. Lots of wartime memorabilia, including uniforms, posters, equipment, and books you can look through. Several informative videos, including one of space shuttle launches. Children are offered a free scavenger hunt paper, which has 12 pictures of items they'll find somewhere in the museum. If they get stuck, one of the volunteers, who are more than willing to answer questions and share their stories, will point them in the right direction. Our 5- and 7-yr old grandsons really enjoyed the museum. There's a gift shop onsite, which we thought had very reasonable prices. We'll definitely visit again.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
An astounding place. See other reviews for descriptions of the museum's lovingly curated contents, but if you want to be immersed in WWI and WWII memorabilia, this is the place to visit.

DJ S.

Yelp
Loved everything in there and nice gift-shop. Friendly staff. My favorite history is WW2.

Yelp
Great museum with a human aspect as well as the "hardware". There are hundreds of personal items and biographies, from all branches and wars (last 100 years). I would recommend anyone who has served or who has a family member that has served visit this museum. For those who are interested, there are a number of cutaway engines showing the inner mechanisms. I have only seen one such cutaway of a radial engine, at the museum of science, in Boston.
