"Following less than a year in service, Redwood City Indonesian restaurant Warung Siska would close immediately. It was a tough blow to the local Indonesian food community, especially after Warung Siska managed to earn a mention in the esteemed Michelin Guide in its brief timespan." - Dianne de Guzman

"When it opens today, July 14, in downtown Redwood City, Warung Siska hopes to transport diners to the small, neighborhood restaurants of Jakarta with a menu of sticky rice, curry, and grilled meats. The restaurant takes its name from two sources — the first being the word “warung,” a type of family-owned restaurant that’s common in Indonesia, and the second being “Siska,” the name of chef and partner Siska Silitonga who’s become known for being one of only a handful of Indonesian food chefs in the Bay Area." - Lauren Saria

One of the best restaurants in the Bay! Came here with our Indonesian friend, he’s absolutely amazed by the foods here. Everything is tasty, vibe is chill, and the staff are super friendly. We ordered a lot of dishes, and still managed to finish them all. Highly recommend visit here with a group of people, so you can order a variety of foods.

taste like being home! Very authentic and fusion style of Indonesian foods that it’s so hard to find in Bay Area. The restaurant is not big but very special vibes with dedicated touch on the details from wall prints to the table setting. The foods are tasty and fun to look at with presentation. Will come back but the parking is a problem! Spent like 15min to look for a spot nearby

This is a new place, barely been around for 2 weeks. Go there before the wait times become too long! (At the moment) you pay for what you want, find a table and they bring the food to you. We made a reservation for 7, so we got table service. Kinda makes it a bit unique. Since we were a large party, so we pretty much ordered at least 1 of everything on the menu :) Appetizers - got the Rujak salad, Corn fritters and garlic chips. The fritters were excellent, comes with a spicy sauce to took it to a different level! The salad and chips were also very good. Entrees: we got the shrimp satay, fish satay, chicken satay, noodles, veg curry and short ribs. Essentially everything on the menu except for the pork :) I had part of the short ribs and chicken - the short rib was excellently done with a unique clove/turmeric sauce - very new taste for me! The chicken was so-so - nothing as unique as the short ribs - I also thought it was a touch on drier side. My fellow diners liked all the other dishes. We had eaten too much - so no room dessert. Great place, highly recommend. As I mentioned, it is new and getting popular fast, so make reservations.

An Indonesia friend took us to this newly opened rare Indonesia spot pretty far away but it was well worth the long drive, and received a big thumbs up from our Indonesian friend as well. We ordered every single dish on the menu, and none of them disappointed. Especially delicious: grilled sticky rice, perfectly cooked corn fritters, tender short ribs, and chicken sate. Service was super warm and friendly from the chef, owners, and staff. Come check out the unique and wonderful flavors of Indonesia at this gem in Redwood city.

This place is incredible! Best Indonesian food in the Bay area BY FAR. everything is good and well worth the price. Things aren't cheap but once you realize what you're getting prices are extremely fair. The food is authentically Indonesian, but with modern touches. The Bali pork was especially incredible. These dishes are gourmet - pink peppercorn on a Pana Cotta?? MIND BLOWN, so good!! Michelin Guide should give this place a try.

Let me preface by saying that I was born and raised in Indonesia, so the review you're reading is coming from someone who grew up with Indonesian taste and flavors ;). There were only few of Indonesian restaurants in the Bay Area to begin with and unfortunately some of them had to close down due to the pandemic. So when I found out that Warung Siska was going to open, I was thrilled! We came on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and the restaurant was packed, but we were seated right away. You make an order at the front first when you come in then you either sit at one of the communal or individual tables. We ordered babi Bali (Balinese grilled pork) and kalio iga (braised short rib) as main dishes and es cendol as dessert. The Balinese spices topping on the grilled pork was full of Indonesian flavor punches, and the pork jowl was juicy. The short rib was very tender and I couldn't get enough of the sauce! They don't serve the typically known dishes such as rendang or nasi goreng, but the taste and flavors definitely remind me of home. Would definitely come back to try more of the seasonal and new items!

Outstanding and creative take on Indonesian food, a cuisine that's hard to find in the Bay Area. It's a relatively small spot and you'll be welcomed by very friendly staff who take a lot of interest in explaining the highlights of their menu. We tried the fried corn-okra fritter and the grilled rice cake. The rice cakes are actually small sandwiches with a filling of exquisitely tasty and aromatic chicken, which almost had a texture of pulled pork (only much better). For mains, we settled for the braised brisket. The meat is slow cooked in a base of coconut milk and spice, which renders it soft and incredibly decadent, also the roasted potato and plain rice on the plate help balance out all the protein. The Panna Cotta was once again a standout for blending the subtle lemon grass aroma into the cream. Overall, a mind-blowing culinary experience.

I've been hearing about this place for a bit and finally got to try it with a friend on Sunday night. There was plenty of space throughout the night and we were seated quickly. We had to walk up to the front and order (and pay in advance), but there was still table service for water, which was a little confusing. We shared two main dishes and an app which ended up being ~40pp. The food was decent and it was good ambience, but it is on the pricier end for me. Worth trying this place for authentic Indonesian food in the bay area but I probably wouldn't be coming back super often.
