Metro Detroit’s 11 Best Restaurants and Cafes for Korean Food | Eater Detroit

"Seoul meets Tokyo in this cozy neighborhood spot conveniently located across from the Detroit Institute of Arts. Order from the sushi and sashimi selections or from a full Korean Japanese menu that includes many favorite dishes from both nations (as well as some Chinese dishes) — beef bulgogi, shrimp shumai, tteokbokki, katsu, and teriyaki." - Danny Palumbo

Google
The food is consistently delicious, however there is such a high turnover with waitstaff that it seems like no servers are ever trained. I know serving is a hard job and they try their best, so it definitely seems like a management issue. Last Saturday when I was there I got the wrong food, and we were given someone else's credit card back after we paid. Didn't realize until a couple days later, and when I called to tell them what happened, the person on the phone didn't understand English very well, couldn't figure out what I was saying, and hung up on me.

Google
We ordered two rolls and a chicken katsu; all three were smothered in bland, viscus sauce. The spicy salmon roll was not spicy. The eel roll was extremely tough. The katsu was thick, not crispy and the sauce it was served with didn’t taste or look like the typical barbecue sauce served with katsu. Sadly no cabbage salad with the katsu, only a side of rice. My partner and I came in on a Friday night and although it wasn’t busy the server was tasked with far too much and the service was lacking because of that. Although I’m sure he was trying his best. The restaurant is very cluttered and feels haphazard. Overall, sad tummy and sad wallet.

Google
Wow. Exactly what I needed. I started eating before I thought to take photos, but these dishes looked, smelled, and tasted so good. We got 3 dishes to go - japchae, bibimbap, and spicy pork. The first two were my orders - and they were so good. I love Korean food and have been trying to find a place near me that offers it at a quality I love, and I'm very happy that Wasabi exists. We've been here once before and had a great time, and it almost seems like the food has gotten better since.

Google
great food! got the chicken katsu and it was huge! will definitely be going back

Google
The seafood bibimbap was great and was a large portion. It's really nice to have some quality Korean cuisine in the midtown area. The menu is expansive and has most of the favorites.

Wells Hamilton

Google
The fried rice was full of chicken bones, tendons, and skin. Teriyaki sauce was poured out of a jar from some discount Asian food outlet- not homemade and closer to barbecue sauce than teriyaki. The salad was drenched in sauce to the point that everything was soggy. Egg rolls soggy and limp. This all cost $80. Absolutely never again.

Google
Food is ALWAYS great! I know it may sound cliche but I’ve NEVER had a bad experience here! The owner is a very nice guy and the sushi chef John and waiter Kyu are awesome and guarantee a pleasurable problem free experience! Where I go when I want great sushi and Korean food and they definitely always treat us like family and make us feel like we’re at home. Wish I could give 10 stars

Google
Reliable place. First time dinning in after years of ordering take out.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and it was a pretty interesting experience. My partner and I dined in and were taken to the seating out of the restaurant. We've never been here before so we were quite confused. There was a lobby and shop near by. The waitress asked if we wanted any drinks or miso soup to start, my partner asked for water. This is the first time, I think, where we were ever charged for getting water when dined in. In their defense, they did give us a water bottle, but that was kind of funny. Food was pricey. We usually get rainbow rolls at sushi restaurants but here it's about $18 for the roll. We ended up ordering the spicy Cali roll, Alaskan roll, and the pork katsu. Our order came in to go boxes. We were confused to be honest. Waitress was nice, but only brought us our food. We had to throw away our own trash when we were done. Went in to paid afterwards. Didn't really felt like a normal dine in restaurant, more like a place you order and an option to sit near by to eat. Food was pleasantly good though! Pork katsu wss pricey but the portion was generous. Definitely my favorite and I would order the same thing again. The sushi rolls hit the spot as well. Close walk from the DIA, nice location. Pricey but would recommend.

Yelp
I am so surprised and saddened that the door dash delivery I just had today was not even half as good as the first time I ate at Wasabi restaurant last Sunday. I ordered the same veg fried rice, paying for organic brown rice. I specifically asked for Spice level to be hot, but, what I received seemed to have none. How does this happen? Also found their email to me explained that due to 'special order request' suppose asking for spicy heat to it, again like I had in house last Sunday, they are adding $6.41, now $60. Insult to injury! I'll add my own veggies to each of 2 meals this week. At least the Dragon Roll was decent. Sadly, not worth trying again,

Yelp
The food is good. Especially the tempura. It was amazing especially the onion tempura the shrimp tempura and the zucchini tempura. You should just sell those by themselves don't include the carrot or the green pepper.

Yelp
I live in the area and had been curious about this place. From the outside it looks like it would be a nice sitdown restaurant. I was not expecting the dining room to be full of restaurant supplies and boxes. There is somewhere you can sit in the hallway if you want to dine in, but it's a bit odd. I thought the food was very good and very reasonably priced. The service was very accommodating and pleasant.

Yelp
I was hanging out in the downtown area for 313 Day and stopped in for sushi. The service by Sarah was good. She was courteous, friendly and attentive. An artist too who drew a caricature of us. It's got a quaint atmosphere. I ordered the Firecracker roll, shrimp tempura roll, CA roll and a ramen bowl. The rolls were decent. My daughter liked her ramen although it was spicy. They didn't have low sodium soy which I prefer as regular soy is too salty to me. I would go back. Would I go out of my way to? Not so much.

Yelp
Low key, I love this joint. It's pricy especially if you use an app to have food delivered. The inside is small and not sure if it's still carry out only. The Kimchi Chigae I highly recommend. Parking is there. In and out on the side next to the DIA. For one roll, the soup I recommended, and maybe an app you are looking close to 50 dollars so this is expensive. Cannot comment on service as mentioned I don't think this place has had indoor seating since before the panny. Worth a try. Just pricy.

Yelp
I dined here on Sunday March 24th. I used to dine here 1-3 times a week before Covid, but I will never come back. I asked to sit at the bar,but there were only 3 seats open because the remaining spaces were covered with take out boxes and other crap. There were 3 dirty tables when I arrived, that were never cleared in my 40 min there. There were open takeout boxes on the end of the bar with food in them during my entire stay. The worst thing was that there was a roach trap on the bar directly in front of me. The fact that a roach motel was on the bar right between a patron and raw seafood is beyond disturbing. This business has not only gone downhill, but it should be shutdown immediately.

Yelp
I should've expected everything to be a bit spicy, based on the name alone, but totally my fault for not thinking about it. Very beautiful presentation, and while I've now learned I'm not a fan of asparagus in my sushi, they still prepared it well enough that I could still enjoy it.
google avatar

Keiera L.

Yelp
Really was nervous to order ramen and was definitely disappointed when I had it. It's basically just a cup of noodles with simple veggies. There's hardly any broth or the usual toppings. Wouldn't order it again.
google avatar

Claire C.

Yelp
Definitely looks like a hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant. I tried three of the sushi rolls and they were all what you would expect to get. There wasn't anything that particularly stood out. We sat in the area behind the restaurant and our food came out quick. Easy place with easy eats.
google avatar

Yelp
Disappointed in my past experiences with this place. I've ordered from here about 4 times because it's conveniently located nearby and parking is never an issue. The first 2 times my order was correct and everything tasted good. The last 2 times I did takeout was bad. Not only was my order incorrect, but I was charged for food that I didn't receive. Coincidentally both times I ordered it was raining pretty bad out so the chances of me going back out to in the rain and driving to the restaurant to complain/have my food remade are very slim. I just took the loss and hoped next time would be better. My chicken katsu was over cooked and it was more fried breading than actual chicken. The rolls I ordered were made completely wrong. I asked for mozarella on a roll and got yellow cheddar cheese lol. 2 deep fried rolls were not fried at all. Not sure if I will be returning.

Yelp
Good sushi not as attentive as you would think they would but very busy parking is tight you might have to use the meters Nothing special about the ambiance

Yelp
Parking was not easy for this location from what I could tell. We had visited DIA and decided it was a nice enough day to walk. Finding this location was a little challenging because it was in a building. I had super high hopes it would be priced nicely. Appetizers were fairly priced. We got 5 gyoza for $4.99. Sushi is expensive in my opinion. Two 8 piece rolls cost me almost $24. Sushi should run about $1 a piece. Service and food was great.

Yelp
My coworkers and I decided sushi and sashimi would be good for lunch, so we visited Wasabi. The casual restaurant is on busy Woodward Avenue in the Park Shelton building. It's a casual, low-key spot with plenty of dining and a sushi bar. We lucked up and parked on Woodward, but I would imagine that there are other parking options around the building; the restaurant is close to the corner of Kirby. You won't break the bank at Wasabi. The menu items are comparably priced. The service is fast and courteous. My only complaint is that the inside of the restaurant seems pretty cramped. There is a sort of an al fresco dining option - there is seating in the back of the restaurant which is opens up to the "courtyard" on the inside of the office building. It seemed pretty cool out there. One could do a little people watching and window shopping. There are no restrooms inside of the restaurant. There are public restrooms available that are shared with the other offices and shops in the building. The menu is expansive with lots of sushi rolls to choose from. The menu also offers edamame, lettuce wraps, shrimp tempura, dumplings and other appetizers. There are a half-dozen of soups to choose from; ramen, and other Korean and Japanese dishes. There are also vegetarian options. I was happy to see lattes and other coffee drinks available. One could literally eat lunch there every day of the month and not exhaust the menu. The food was fantastic. I will definitely be back for more as I love sushi and the location is super convenient to my job.

Yelp
Lots of vegan and meat options, close to the Detroit Institute of Arts and Detroit Film Theater at a more accessible price point than chartreuse, Wasabi is a staple for me. The cuisine covers the gambit of sushi, late night munchies, Korean (get the hot stone bibimbap!)... Something for everyone. The servers are casual, I appreciate not being checked on every few minutes. I got this, ya know? Go give em a shot! Parking is easy on the streets Kirby and Woodward, or take a walk from the DIA after your visit and leave the vehicle in their parking!

Yelp
I always get take out from here. Great service and really good sushi. Love going here

Yelp
Normally, I would let this go, but today is not the day. Whoever answered my call and tried to give me a grammar lesson on substitutions, here's a tip for you. The rule is you substitute the new for the old, but substitute the old with the new. Check this website: https://www.writing-skills.com/60-second-fix-substitute-for-or-with My request was "Substitute Soba for Udon." You told me I wrote it wrong. I did not. You were prepared to give me udon. I don't like udon. Even if I had written it incorrectly, could you have deduced that I did NOT want udon? I took the time to write a message. Or, could you have called for clarification? I enjoy your food but I don't always enjoy your customer service. Had I not called you, I would have received something I did not want and it would have been a costly and wasted DoorDash delivery.

Yelp
Maybe 3.5 for now. Tried their traditional Japanese vegetable soup and their spicy scallop shrimp sizzling rice. Not super into the soup. It was very fishy--and I'm Vietnamese, king it fish sauce and complaining, so... that should not be a complaint I'm having. The traditional veggies in the soup were like eating crunchy yet flaccid stems without any leaves. I don't want to be a hater of tradition, but I wouldn't try this if you were trying to be adventurous. It's not a sexy dish for sure The sizzling rice was also very tasteless. A simple dish but missing a major quality.

Yelp
Hands down the best place in metro Detroit for vegetarian rolls. You have the standard avocado, cucumber what have yous, all great. But that sweet potato tempura roll is the best thing ever, i crave it, i love it, and if it ever becomes sentient I'll marry it. Their menu is also big and diverse enough that you can order for a fairly big group of people and make everyone happy. One friend wants bi bim bop and another one is craving sashimi and the other is a vegan? They got you. Occasionally their delivery orders aren't perfect, but they've never messed up that delicious sweet potato roll so that's all that matters to me.

Bianca H.

Yelp
This was the worst ramen I ever had. There was nothing in it but instant ramen in a seafood broth. There was little to no seafood. Like literally a few mussels and two calamari. The rest was onions and noodles. It tasted like a college meal. Disappointing.

Yelp
Delicious sushi! I've been going for years and never been disappointed. They also have online ordering and are open later than other places. They have a cozy indoor dining area as well.

G T.

Yelp
I went to this Restsurant years ago and liked it. I'm disappointed that it has gone downhill. My Bibimbap had iceberg lettuce in it and the chicken had freezer burn. No bean sprouts. Horrible. I sent it back. They be offered to make another dish. I should have demanded my money back. I waited forever. They never came with my replacement meal! Sushi did not have sushi rice in it. Small. Very much like Kroger sushi. Will not come again.
google avatar

Maia W.

Yelp
Quite literally some of the best authentic Korean I've had recently. So much flavor, had the pork bell special and literally mouth watering! Will be back again.
google avatar

Stacia G.

Yelp
Taken here by a knowledgeable co worker who knows the downtown lunch scene like the back of her hand. I've been to Chartreuse which is right next door and didn't notice this spot. My friend told me what to order- but they also have sushi. The portion was big, and probably easily halved. It's small-ish, clean, with friendly and prompt service. Definitely am going back- perhaps when I can try their drink mixtures.

Grace K.

Yelp
Although they are only doing takeout right now, this is probably my go to for Korean food around the area. Very authentic, never disappoints, especially the kalbi.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
This place should be embarrassed to claim they have Korean food. The ginger salad and Miso soup were okay. I had a the potato and tofu in bean paste soup for my entree (jigae of some sort.) My BF had the Kalbi, which he said was too thick, chewy and a fatty. My soup was no better than a Cambell's broth soup with very little tofu, potatoes or veggies. It took way too long to get our crappy food as well, 4 tables that came after us had their food before us. What a waste of space if you as me. The place is a dump as well, dirty floors, cobbled up tile along the pillars, looks like they cut corners in designing this place. If you want worthwhile Korean, make your way a bit further to Sammi's in Troy, Michigan, off of Rochester Road and north of 16 mile road, you will not regret it. If you want good sushi, go to Noble Fish in Clawson.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday because my sister and I were hungry. 1:30 walk in and a few mins pass before were noticied and seated. 1:35 we know what we want so we ordered right after being seated 2:00 our food comes out .. I was given the wrong order so it was sent back 2:03 I recieved the correct order. Waiter mentions he's waiting a table with a large group of 6, hence the wait. He's probably new, I give him benefit of the doubt. Note: my food had a huge lettuce stem in it. Sister complained her yakisoba had more cabbage than noodles. Didn't like this, no sir. 2:30 we paid and left Final thoughts - This place is hit or miss. Come here If you have time on your hands and no other options.
google avatar

Layan A.

Yelp
This is my go-to sushi for when I need a quick fix that is close by. Free parking with ticket validation. The place is very low key, I mostly see students here. It's always decorated to the season (xmas, halloween, valentines). I've been here at least 30 times. A couple of things of note: 1. The lunch box: the sushi lunch boxes, especially the spicy roll lunch box with 18 pieces of maki and a miso soup is just under $10. They have this offer for lunch on weekdays until 4.30 pm. 2. Check into Yelp: to get a free gyoza or edamame. 3. Spicy sushi = spicy sushi (unlike most sushi places I've been to, including Noble fish) I end up spending very little money here compared to when I go to other places. They have many many things other than sushi (like Korean) but whenever I'm here I order the same thing more or less. Their sushi is decent, nothing extraordinary. Their rice is sometimes a little too crunchy. Most days are good days.
google avatar

Danny H.

Yelp
Came here one day when another place we wanted to go was an hour wait. Had no idea what to expect but we found a gem! Service is always friendly and fast in a welcoming, clean environment. Seriously, last time we ate there we finished our food about 25 minutes after arriving. Our regulars, scored... Tofu roll (8/10): love this roll, would love it even more if it was also offered in a tempura version Avocado roll (9/10): this would be a 10 if the rice/seaweed was flipped. avocado is always fresh Sweet Potato Tempura roll (9/10): My partner's favorite. Huge pieces, served warm. Exquisite flavor each time - we are sure to count our pieces when we split because nobody wants to give theirs up. Miso soup (8/10): always plenty of tofu. flavor does fluctuate between visits, but it's always great. at its best it's a 10! Vegetable Gyoza (8/10): Piping hot, served with chili sauce that has a kick at the end. Always crisped to perfection, never overdone.

Yelp
3.5 stars - in terms of Korean food in metro Detroit, this may be your only option. Have to travel to Ann Arbor for better options. Wasabi can be quite expensive if you're looking for a filling sushi dinner. Their premium rolls are about $12 - $15. Though flavorful, there are only 8 pieces and you'll be done before you know it. The actual sushi was quite tasty though! The flavors were vibrant and the shrimp tempura had a nice crisp. If you're looking for Korean food, you could probably get away with paying $12 for a filling meal. Unfortunately, the Korean dishes are not the best. The basic bibimbap is $10 and comes in a hot stone bowl that crisps the rice. The beef is not really a bulgogi but more like seasoned strips. There were some irregular vegetables in it as well and the egg was overdone. They do have more premium offerings that incorporate chicken and seafood - both of which are not really traditional bibimbaps. Due to short staffing, there may be a longer wait during busier hours. If you're craving sushi or Korean food and don't wanna leave Detroit, Wasabi will do the job. However, I do recommend exploring other options outside the city.

Yelp
I don't recommend coming here with a large group or maybe at all. I came here for with a group of people from work and it was a complete mess. They forgot half of our food and the other half wasn't made correctly. I'm truly not even sure what I ate. It took about 30 minutes to get water and for any water refills I had to grab from a coworkers table who had extras. The waitress didn't really seem to care either which made the experience that much more frustrating.
google avatar

Antonio D.

Yelp
Food was JUST OK and there was a good amount of it, but the service was EXTREMELY slow. We waited an hour for our food when the restaurant was just about half full. Our waitress was not very nice or enthusiastic, in fact it seemed like she was pissed at us and I am not sure why, and she did not check up on us at all. It did seem like she was the only one working the floor so I can't completely blame her, but still for a midtown restaurant I was expecting much better service. A friend with us accidentally knocked over a glass cup and it obviously shattered on the floor. The waitress did not even look at her or the situation, and continued to act unbothered while filling up out cups of water. She did not ask any of us if we were okay, did not do anything. It was very unnerving to see someone so emotionless after a dangerous situation took place. Back on the cups of water deal, she left us thirsty until the food came out, so an hour. We are dehydrated, ma'am. Overall, I felt like this was a waste of money and a waste of time when we could've been off doing hood rat shit in the city you feel??? But anyways, I am extremely unimpressed and extremely upset at the service. Overall, go elsewhere. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Peter J.

Yelp
Horrible. Food was late. Didn't even start making until I got there Then I leave with the food only to realize they forgot the sauce for the chicken Had to drive back and get it. Horrible place
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
This is the best... oh wait... only sushi in midtown, (that I know of besides Whole Foods.) It serves its purpose but it's not great. That said, the downtown sushi places are way overpriced and not much better so this would be my go to if I was at WSU. For sushi in the area, I prefer Fat Salmon sushi in Hamtramck. The Korean food is much better than the sushi. I really wish they had kimchi fried rice! I don't understand how that's not on the menu.

Yelp
Just bad..., plain bad. We went for a quick bite after a meeting in eastern market. We should have known upon walking in , there was a mop pail with dirty water and cleaning supplies sitting in the vestibule looking like a Janitor's Closet. A+ on 1st impressions whoo hoo ! That should have been enough of a sign ...and fair enough warning ..... but alas we persisted in the saga. The interior was extremely dingy and looked like it was held together with tape and Elmers glue . The decor consisted of Brad nailed( through the face),to the wall vinyl floor tile as wainscoting. And un lit led lights shabbyly taped down. Random liquer bottles crammed on the shelf, and kitchy asian themed curtians as doors to the kitchen. All the tile seemed dirty, there was receipts and napkins on the floor, smudges on the white walls, the servers clothes were dirty, the menus were sticky, and best of all a few nat's and fly's buzzing arround as flying protein. =) In hindsight i am ELATED we had the foresight NOT to get anything raw (sushi)from this place. I can thank my better half and co pilot for that. ! =) although that was the initial intent in going there! #! $*&!!! The only thing missing was the disgusting stale grease smell that you get in most of the older restaurants like this that are about ready to close. The server was, at best impersonal, but indifference probably sums it up best. Over our entire visit I believe we received four complete words at best ,most were grunts. It appeared the staff here is mostly college students. The food was completely Bland and tasteless on all 4 dishes that we tried. Mind you we ordered 5 and were charged for 5 the sad part is the endamamie that we NEVER recived probably tasted the best lol. At this point We just wanted out of there! We left the money on the table and vamoosed. Just save your money and stay away I would say it is a bad version of cafeteria food for the Wayne State crowd. In all honesty Panda Express in a food court is a better option we threw away our leftovers

Zarinah N.

Yelp
I have NEVER just thrown my food away while still hungry, but that's exactly what I did here. I should have turned around when I saw the way they presented the restaurant and the fact that there was no one else there, and no proper seating, but I decided to give it a try. I was treating my friend for her birthday. I ordered beef bibimbop, one of my fav dishes. She ordered the spicy seafood bibimbop. My lil bit of meat was bland and cold. The rest of the meal unseasoned and room temp. Her dish was spicy but she said it tasted like the shrimp were not clean and that while spicy, it was underseasoned. I literally threw my food away in the "dumpster" they reserve for people who dit down. She didn't want to throw hers away in front of me, but she too stopped eating. $45 down the drain. I didn't think to complain while there or ask for my money back, but later when telling another friend about this horrendous experience, I found out I should have done that. This place is a big fat NO.

Shantel T.

Yelp
Decent food. Definitely overpriced, but that doesn't keep me away. This is usually my last resort when I'm hungry, don't want to cook, and want something nearby. The staff is really nice, there's a plus. I usually get the Hulk and the Rock and Roll sushi rolls. Go ahead and pass on the sundoobu, it's subpar. Their chicken and shrimp bowl is actually good, there's another plus. But let's not lose sight that this place shouldn't be a place you should get excited about. Sorryyy Wasabiiii.

Yelp
Tucked away in the Park Shelton... 9 ,years st this location... nice surprise! Had a veggie appetizer Gyoza.. very good... TV's, nice bar great staff. Many vegetarian dishes. Time for a drink....JD on the rocks! Again great service. OMG Goyza was good we had a second serving. They are so good I'm going to steal the team and open a place in West Village! I will be back .... Until I open my own place.

Yelp
Still the best sushi on Woodward st. , they really have top shelf food. I don't usually give out a 5 star compliment but the get it here. This place has turned me into a tofu acceptable person. They even have the Q train monorail that's stopping in front of the door. Great stuff and service if you're looking for sushi fix and what not. It's a good thing that they have a lunch special and a weekend brunch 11am-130pm. You have a great place near the museum if you're looking for reasonable prices and great quality. Definitely recommend from lucky 13.

Matthew S.

Yelp
First time trying this place the other night after 4 years living in Detroit. I was pleasantly surprised (expectations were set quite low). I was iffy at first eating raw fish here after some of the reviews but the yellowtail scallion roll was delicious. I got 2 of the soft shell crab rolled and each bite had plenty of crab. Rice was fine, warm at least. I will continue to get delivery from here. I only tried sushi, none of the Korean / Japanese entrees.

Yelp
Food is ok, but the waitstaff consistently sucks. For example, today, while finishing a decent bowl of Chirashi sashimi, the waiter, without asking if I cared to order anything else, flopped down my check with a "no hurry." Restaurant empty, I was certainly in "no hurry," but really? The restaurant is close to Wayne State and I assume most of their waitstaff are students, but perhaps a little tutoring in social graces is in order. Also overheard several times, instead of "you're welcome" after being complimented by a patron on something, the nauseating hipster mantra reply: "no problem."

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick lunch before going to the DIA. I ordered the spicy sushi roll lunch box and my son ordered tempura udon. My spicy sushi rolls tasted like Kroger sushi rolls with spicy Korean sauce on it. I've been to Japan a few times and love sushi. I should say I love good sushi and this wasn't good. My son gave his tempura udon a 4 on 1-10 scale. The entrance has cleaning products at the door and just looks crappy. The restaurant inside is nice and the waiter was great. If you have time to go someplace else maybe you should. I hope I'm not sick later.

Yelp
Came here last night with my friend. We were trying to get to the inside of the building to do some shopping and the girl working said they normally don't let people through the restaurant to get to the inside of the building unless they were customers. I asked if we could go through and come back for a drink since the store we wanted to go to was closing soon. She just rolled her eyes really hard and waved us through and told us to just go. My friend and I both work in restaurants so we got that that could get annoying if people were just cutting through all the time, but we were nice about it and not rude and were going to be paying customers. This was kind of enough to turn us off but we had been planning to get a drink so we did come back. we ordered cocktails and ten minutes later, our server (same girl we talked to earlier) came back to tell us they were out of ice, so no cocktails. we got bottled beers instead - there's no tap here. my friend got a standard roll and said it was fine and i got green tea ice cream and it was a tiny portion and really grainy. service was terrible even though the place was slow. Had to wait a long for just about everything. maybe it was on purpose because our server already hated us, but still. Whole thing left a bad taste and I will definitely not be back and would rather drive out to the burbs to get sushi.

Yelp
Wow, I've been ordering from here for a while, and most of the time it's been very mediocre (not many choices when you have a sushi craving) and a couple of times really bad. But tonight, the takeout was the best I've had. I don't know if you changed chefs/kitchen staff, but you should keep it up. Although, I received no condiments (no soy sauce even?)..

Yelp
The bibimbap sauce is more like ketchup than Korean traditional spicy sauce (Gochujang). Also there should be a certain vegetable for bibimbap but this one had a simple western cabbage (or iceberg). As a Korean, I wish restaurant keep the tradition of bibimbap or don't sell it.. Egg was already cook. should be soft and runny. Oh, also the miso soup tasted so much MSG than actual miso paste and Eel sashimi I ordered was so tiny.... sad pinky finger size. This one piece can't be over $3 including tax.. As from New York, even we get a bigger eel with the similar price. I hope the restaurant improve and have a better quality in the future.

Yelp
Fresh fish for the sushi and the menu is extensive. All the usual suspects as far as the sushi goes. Spicy tuna is delicious. Michigan roll and the Nigril is awesome. Can't go wrong here.

Yelp
The yum yum roll is delish! Service was great! I will come back. Had a glass of Goats do Roam wine from South Africa, white blend, very good! I'm giving it a 4 because I only had the sushi and wine. Will come back to try the food menu.

Yelp
This is the worst place I've ever been to in terms of both food and service. They forgot to put rice in my takeout bibimbap order and other dishes we ordered tasted awful too. I had a big exam coming up the next morning, so I wanted to have some good Korean/ Japanese food as a take-out dinner since they are always my comfort food. I ordered sashimi bibimbap, rainbow roll and pork katsu for myself and my boyfriend, and asked my bf to pick up the food since I had to keep studying. When he brought the food home, we found out that they forgot the rice in my bibimbap takeout. I just couldn't believe they forgot the rice in bibimbap. What's the point of ordering bibimbap when it doesn't even come with rice? So I called them and asked. And they said they forgot to put the rice in it and if I come back to the restaurant, they'll give me the rice without any charge. Seriously? Without any charge? Isn't it obvious when I order $17 sashimi bibimbap, rice comes with it? I couldn't go back since I had to keep studying and they just said if I come back sometime, they'll give me a small box of rice for free.... I can't care less about driving there sometimes to get a box of plain rice itself. All I expected and paid for was the regular bibimbap, which has rice in it that I can mix with veggies. The thing that made me more disappointed was how poorly they reacted to this situation and how rude they were. They sounded annoyed after I told what happened. Also, the rainbow roll didn't taste fresh at all (some pieces of the fish smelled weird..) and the roll itself was too loose to even hold them, so we only finished half of them. It was very expensive takeout meal, but I didn't care when I ordered at first, since I just wanted to treat myself before my important exam that I had prepared for a couple months. I had no idea I would end up being still very hungry after meal and disappointed by their poor service and food. Since this is the only Korean/ Japanese option I had in midtown, I used to go to this place sometimes, but I will never never go back to this place.

Yelp
2012 - Korean owned Japanese places usually taste fine. This one tastes like vomit. I go to school down the street and though I would try it since I know my way around the sushi roll and I have never been back due to horrible food and bad service. Update. So I was craving yakisoba and go to ccs so I thought I would give it a second shot. Nope. Still bad. They burnt my finances food and he had to send it back. The yakisoba was very oily. Really horrible. Staff was friendly but inattentive. Update 2017 - Still awful. Don't even bother coming here. It's so overpriced and not even good. Had rotten vegetables in my food and pretty sure I got food poisoning. Our waitress was super nice though.

Yelp
I work pretty close by and decided to get take out. Food was good, I had the Yaki Soba, which was really delicious, and it came with Miso Soup which I was actually not impressed by at all. But.... the gyoza. I want to eat every single one of them for the rest of my life. YUM.
