The Best Restaurants at Rockway Beach | Eater NY

"Googling “washed up Rockaway” will turn up all sorts of local tragedies, from beached whales to discovered human remains. One bright spot: This boardwalk cafe by 97th Street. The owners used to run a juice stand called La Fruteria. They rebranded last year and added a breakfast burrito to the menu. After a day at the beach, it’s exactly what you want: crisp bacon, processed cheese, and smashed tater tots for texture." - Eater Staff

I come for the espresso banana smoothie every time I'm down here. I like a thicker smoothie consistency, especially at the beach, and it's always perfect - so good and filling too. Their coffee in general is the best. I rarely get their food but the croissant sandwich was fresh & hot, maybe a little pricey but the quality is there. Staff is always so friendly, I always come back for that reason.

A convenient spot on the board walk for coffee and a bite. This is one of the few venues that open early and cater to joggers, cyclists, & locals on a stroll. You order at the counter. Your name gets called and there are communal tables nearby. Sitting here and observing the beach while sipping on a cappuccino is a plus. PROS 1) opens early 2) good coffee CONS 1) sandwiches are small in portion 2) pricey for the portion size

I came here today 7/3/25 for the first time and I had a good experience. I ordered their ginger lemonade served over ice and it was good and refreshing just like they told me. I reviewed their menu again after I left and this is definitely my kind of place and I most definitely will be back their tomorrow morning to get a smoothie, coffee, and breakfast sandwich and eat it on the beach! Please see all of my photos attached that share what I ordered, my experience, and their perfect menu that is just right up my alley!!! Thank you for your amazing service and I love your menu so much!!! 🙏 I went back today 7/4 and they were open until 5 PM EST !!! I was so happy they were still busy - I got there around 4:15 PM EST today 7/4 ! I ordered their watermelon juice, ice water with lime slice, and their mango, ginger, kale, avocado, and banana smoothie! It all was very fresh/refreshing/ and good! I loved the watermelon juice! My photo is attended from today! I came back on 7/5/25 and I ordered a cappuccino, bacon egg cheese tomato and avocado on a croissant/breakfast sandwich, and the banana almond butter espresso smoothie. Everything was delicious and I really love this place! All my photos are attached! Thank you so much for your service! I came back here on Sunday 7/6/25 and I ordered the passion fruit smoothie bowl with fresh fruit, honey, and granola, an ice water, watermelon juice, and then came back later for a cappuccino! All was very worth it and delicious and fresh just how I like it. Right up my alley. Will definitely be coming back for sure. All photos are attached of what I ordered on this day! Thank you for your great service!

I got a cold brew and a breakfast sandwich. Love that I can ride my bike right up to the register! Cold brew was great, breakfast sandwich a little bland but refreshing. Could have used more salt on the avocado and/or a sharper cheese. So happy this place exists! ☀️🌊

As a local it's one of the all around best breakfast burritos on the peninsula. The avacodo is a nice touch touch! Makes it feel healthy🤣. Good atmosphere, friendly staff & tasty food what more could you ask for.

Beachfront cafe with amazing healthy options, smoothies and coffee. I had the watermelon 🍉 juice, it was nice and refreshing. Next time I will try the smoothie and breakfast sandwiches, I saw other people getting their orders and all the food looked good.

Yelp
Another brilliant addition to the boardwalk and greater Rockaway culinary scene in general. This review is very much written solely on the strength of its Breakfast Burrito but I have no qualms about drafting this solely on the basis of eating it only once. It's that f*ing good, the best I've ever had by a long shot and while I am a native NY'er, I have spent a good enough amount of time in the various meccas of breakfast burrito-dom like New Mexico and the Bay Area for that to mean at least something. It's a literal perfectly ratio'd blend of egg, avocado, a vibrant house made salsa & hash-browns of the perfect constancy bound together with just the right amount of cheese. Don't let the fact that it might at first glance seem miniature, especially given the price point. The thing is both very dense, tightly wrapped and extremely flavorful leaving you more than sufficiently satiated and just short of stuffed. In keeping with local customs ad traditions the staff is perfectly laid back and physically gorgeous across the board. If you can think of a better atmosphere to wolf down the best breakfast burrito in the city than on the boardwalk with the beautiful sea air wafting through your nostrils I'd love to hear of it, but I won't hold my breath for that. Pair it with one of their smoothies, perhaps as I did the delicious and potent espresso based one.
