"Googling “washed up Rockaway” will turn up all sorts of local tragedies, from beached whales to discovered human remains. One bright spot: This boardwalk cafe by 97th Street. The owners used to run a juice stand called La Fruteria. They rebranded last year and added a breakfast burrito to the menu. After a day at the beach, it’s exactly what you want: crisp bacon, processed cheese, and smashed tater tots for texture." - Eater Staff

Beachfront cafe with amazing healthy options, smoothies and coffee. I had the watermelon 🍉 juice, it was nice and refreshing. Next time I will try the smoothie and breakfast sandwiches, I saw other people getting their orders and all the food looked good.

Breakfast burrito is one of the best I've had, it is also $13 and is relatively small but totally worth it.

Best iced coffee I've had in Rockaway and I've been a regular since 2001. The passion fruit bowl is also fabulous and packed with fresh fruit and walnuts.

Yelp
Another brilliant addition to the boardwalk and greater Rockaway culinary scene in general. This review is very much written solely on the strength of its Breakfast Burrito but I have no qualms about drafting this solely on the basis of eating it only once. It's that f*ing good, the best I've ever had by a long shot and while I am a native NY'er, I have spent a good enough amount of time in the various meccas of breakfast burrito-dom like New Mexico and the Bay Area for that to mean at least something. It's a literal perfectly ratio'd blend of egg, avocado, a vibrant house made salsa & hash-browns of the perfect constancy bound together with just the right amount of cheese. Don't let the fact that it might at first glance seem miniature, especially given the price point. The thing is both very dense, tightly wrapped and extremely flavorful leaving you more than sufficiently satiated and just short of stuffed. In keeping with local customs ad traditions the staff is perfectly laid back and physically gorgeous across the board. If you can think of a better atmosphere to wolf down the best breakfast burrito in the city than on the boardwalk with the beautiful sea air wafting through your nostrils I'd love to hear of it, but I won't hold my breath for that. Pair it with one of their smoothies, perhaps as I did the delicious and potent espresso based one.
