Google
This place didn't disappoint. Saw it on a girl Instagram and had to go while visiting Orlando. The food was plentiful, hot, fresh, and tasty. My daughter said I give it a 10 out of 10. Awesomeness. Lots of food for your money.

good times

Google
Huge portions of fish, small little business in a strip mall setting no indoor seating if you know what you want you should call your order in or it’ll take about 15 minutes for them to fry up your fish. Forgot to use the hot sauce until I was finished next time, we’ll use the hot sauce.

Google
I really enjoyed my experience here! I ordered the catfish dinner, and it was delicious. The only downside was that the fries were a bit bland. However, the portion sizes were generous, especially for the price. The establishment is small, with limited outdoor seating, so keep that in mind if you plan to dine in. If you’re in the area and craving some good fish, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

Google
Glad to be back!!! Had basa and flounder dinners. Huge portions. Fish seasoned well. fries not seasoned, but excellent!

Google
Gave me dirty old fish, went there recently. Fries were hard to chew. Old catfish for 17$ ?!??? Horrible customer service as well.

Google
I paid over $13 for this sandwich only to get it home and find it inedible. They should have known better than to serve this. They set up in a black neighborhood and think they can give us anything! I won’t be going here again.

Although the food is prepared as you wait that's the beauty of this business, but most people you talk to would tell you that the gentleman behind the counter is very rude at times. I once asked him what if people were just like you would you serve them. He told me that I didn't to eat here, I don't my wife like the food so whenever she wants fish and shrimp then d is where I go. JUST UNTIL I CAN FIND ANOTHER SPOT that will appreciate me and my dollar🤔

Google
Going back on Saturday! Those cheese grits .... OMG! Our Food was hot, good, service was top tier and the prices were great for the amount of food you get. I went to the store for our wings and subs, then were informed by other customers to try the fish market also, we were very pleased. They offer pagers to alert you when the order is ready, so you can wait in the car. Glad we went around the corner for fish also! We tore that food down! Thanks so much! Prices were great!

Yelp
I am so mad. I used to live only 10 minutes from here 15 years ago, and I'm only now finding out about this place now that I live in east Orlando. The food here is made to order, and it is worth the wait. I got the perch, which was really good. It could have used a bit more salt in the batter. Good thing I keep some in the car. The Fry Snob in me loves that they give you a ton of fries with the dinner. Between that and the generous portion of fish, they have to tape the box shut. I will be back every chance I get!

Yelp
Listen Linda !!! This has been the spot for over 20 years. I love coming to get my seafood platter and cheese grits or fries because HONEY!!!! It's like you at a family fish fry . 3 platters were about $51 without a drink and will fill you up. My favorite is the whiting platter but I decided to get catfish with cheese grits and my belly was happy and full. This is not a classy spot, you pull into The drive up and wait or go to the window and place your order. Always a go to spot !

Yelp
1 star out for the coleslaw. The Coleslaw all I tasted was black pepper. It was not shredded cabbage more like roughly chopped cabbage. I didnt care for it because it also lacked dressing. I took 1 spoonful and threw the rest in the trash. Otherwise - we went here after work and went to the drive thru to order, My order was the Basa Daily special for $9 and some change. You get 2 pcs of bread some steak fries and 4 pcs of med sized basa filets. For $2 additional you can order al a carte - Cole slaw or 8 pcs of hush puppies or grits (with or without cheese). The Hush puppies gotten smaller in size from what I recall having them a while back. They are smaller now but still tasty with the pcs of onions inside. The texture is crispy outside and tender inside, They serve these hush puppies well. I am picky about hush puppies. They do them good here. The Cheese Grits is good. You can taste the butter and cream that is used when they make this. They use shredded cheese on top and not throughout the grits. So it is pretty much a cheese topped grits. I liked the creaminess texture and it is seasoned. I will order this again. The Basa Filets are still my Go To fish when I order here - Its white tender flakey fish, Coated in cornmeal southern coating batter thinly and u actually taste the fish more than the batter unlike some places. Fries is those frozen steak fries - I just wished they would seasoned the fries with fries seasoning how disney does them. There is a wait when you do not call ahead - They will text you once the order is ready. Otherwise another craving satisfied.

Yelp
It has been a while since we had Fried Fish. I knew exactly where to go. Washington Shores Fish Market. We ordered a Catfish Dinner and Cheese Grits. It took 10 minutes to get our food. I made sure I had some hot sauce and mustard for the Catfish. It was really good. Nothing was left behind once I was done.

Yelp
The flavor of the fish was great but for me, it was a bit oily and tough to eat. The skin is left on these fish and there's nothing wrong with that but if it's fried too long i think it was made it kinda chewy. I enjoyed the wings more than i did the fish. I would definitely go back for the wings and fries though.

Yelp
We found Washington Shores Fish Market on TikTok and were excited to give it a try, but sadly, it was a big letdown. It's a walk-up-only spot, which is cool, but the customer service left a bad first impression. The man taking our order was rushing us, and we weren't even taking long. It felt like calling ahead was discouraged. Almost like they don't want to deal with phone orders at all. The food was just not good. The catfish didn't taste fresh at all and it had a strong, fishy smell and weird aftertaste that reminded me of old perch. Didn't taste like any catfish I've ever had before. I couldn't even eat it. We ordered shrimp, chicken (jumbo wings) and fries. Everything taste the same, like it was all fried in the same gritty cornmeal and oil. No real seasoning, no flavor, just greasy and disappointing. This isn't to bash the business, but to be honest about OUR experience. We were mad we wasted our money and most of the food went in the trash. Hopefully others have a better experience, but this spot just wasn't for us.

Yelp
Washington Shores is the epitome of a hometown, southern fish spot right on the westside of Orlando. It's not the flashiest place, but what it lacks in decor it makes up for tenfold in flavor. We ordered two fish sandwiches, and the fish was fresh, flaky, and full of flavor--fried just right and served on soft white bread. Classic, simple, and so satisfying. My only critique? I wish I had a little more sauce! The prices were extremely reasonable--our total for both sandwiches was under $25, which is a steal for quality like this. We'll absolutely be back. If you're craving no-frills, flavorful southern-style fish, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The food takes a while to prepare. It is best to call ahead. Once you receive your food is hot and well seasoned. I enjoyed the catfish and hush puppies. The coleslaw was also very tasty. Thank you Mr. Jung.

Yelp
Finally back at Washington Shores Fish Market! Purchased basa dinner and a flounder dinner. Taste and quality was exactly as I remembered from years back. Same guy waited on me as well. Delicious!!! Love, love, love this place.
google avatar

Kesha H.

Yelp
The fish/shrimp is still delish but the portions have become smaller over years. So that is disappointing but I guess expected. They take card now, and you should still call ahead
google avatar

Derekica J.

Yelp
Some of the best fried fish in the city. It's fast, fresh, crispy and tastes oh so good! Plus they give you about 4-5 pieces, one dinner can feed 2 people and they cost $10, great value! Highly recommended but be careful, keep your head on a swivel when you're in this neighborhood. Wink wink lol
google avatar

Treace M.

Yelp
Inexpensive, hot, fresh fried seafood but low quality. If you ask for a catfish basket you'll get about 2 pieces of real catfish and the rest is Basa or swai fish. Shrimp is hands down delish.

De S.

Yelp
The owner state that we never attempted to call him in regards to the Hair and the fish and that we should've saved the fish from Saturday to show him. Just the evidence.

Bre A.

Yelp
Amazing customer service. Also, This place has the absolute best catfish ever! It's not salty or anything! Much love

Yelp
Washington Shores Fish market has been a favorite of mine since relocating to Orlando a few years ago. I'm so happy you can now pay with a credit card because for years it was cash ONLY . I ordered the catfish sandwich and my husband ordered the whitening fish dinner which came with hush puppies and fries. I also ordered a 10 piece fried shrimp . The food took about 20 minutes and it was fresh and popping hot . The fish is well seasoned and they give you allot of fish . Im glad this place is still around making great fish. If you're in the mood for fish check this spot out if your haven't already . The ambiance of this place is what they consider to be the hood , but I always say the hood always has some of the best food !

Yelp
After hearing about this place for years from so many people I had to go see what it was about. My wife and I ordered, catfish, shrimp, and wings. I must say it was all pretty good. The catfish in several parts had a strong taste to it which I don't prefer. The shrimp were fried and seasoned really well. If I'm ever on that side of town I definitely will stop and place me an order. The portions are huge also.

Yelp
So I tried this place yesterday for the first time as my sister went and couldn't stop raving about it. I decided to try the fried fish dinner and it was actually pretty good. The dinner comes with four pieces of fish hush puppies and fries. I thought the fish had a nice crunch and was well fried , however I wish the fish had a bit more seasoning . Once i paired it with hot sauce and tartar sauce . I was in love. I had enough for the next day to make a fish sandwich . I will say that it's usually a line when waiting for your food , because they are super busy and it's a bit of a wait but it's worth it. The service was good . I would recommend trying it out. The dinner is priced around $ 12 and the sandwich is $8, so if you're craving some nice fried fish . I would check this place out. They also have wings and fried shrimp. I also want to warn that the fish does have bones in it so be careful when eating .

Yelp
"Perfectly fried perch, light, crispy, and flavorful--melts in your mouth. A must-try!"
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
I call it my hood spot fish place. Very cheap prices (especially if you get the all day lunch special) for a decent amount of food. Now if only they would season their fish a little more we'll have a winner

David S.

Yelp
The fried catfish never disappoints. The food is made fresh to order and is seasoned perfectly. A classic staple near downtown Orlando that all locals know and love!

Micheal H.

Yelp
The food is superb. The appearance is not anything to brag about but it's an outside dining restaurant. Service is pleasant.

Christina W.

Yelp
Overall good experience. I expected the wait to be longer based on other reviews but I only waited 10 minutes which seemed pretty average. The food was fresh and hot when I received it. I took a star off for the lack of seasoning but easy fix. Will definitely go again!
google avatar

Tacha L.

Yelp
Made fresh to order and perfectly seasoned! Great portions for price. If you're looking for some good fried fish this is the place!! Based off other ppls comments...yes the bread is a tad hard but seriously....are you going for the fish or the bread?? This for sure is not a flashy establishment but I'm for certain a neighborhood staple! Take out only with a drive thru option. Next time I'm in the area this will now forever be on my families to stop list!
google avatar

Tay B.

Yelp
I was underwhelmed by the lack of seasoning on my fish. The fish market came highly recommended but maybe I ordered the wrong thing because it just wasn't good. Portion size was huge but bland. You have to be mindful of the bones in their fish as well.
google avatar

Laurie C.

Yelp
Terrific food. Takes a few minutes but really fresh. We had the shrimp dinners and it was delicious.
google avatar

Marcus M.

Yelp
Good, hot, fresh and cheap is all you need to know about this place. Go check it out you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Cassandra R.

Yelp
Whenever I'm on the west side of Orlando and have cash on hand (cash only place) I stop by. Picked up the catfish for my dad and he enjoyed it, he will probably be eating it for 3 days, that's just how much they give you .
google avatar

Candice B.

Yelp
It's been 5 years since my last review and I still love this place. Our sandwich had just about as much fish as the dinner. You definitely get your money worth.

Alyssa B.

Yelp
Food is always on point & fish is always crispy!! Owner is Nice, order is never wrong! Best hot sauce!!

LeNorris W.

Yelp
RACIST RUDE- The employees of this business are blatantly racist to sit and operate a business in the middle of a black neighborhood and treat Black people as less than should be shameful we made a mistake when making an order and attempted to correct it and they berated us for asking to change an order saying the food is cooked to order. they did not offer a service simply wishing to change our order and mock us. keep in mind we called ahead and placed this order we could have arrived and never told them who we are and made them waste the food, but we wanted to salvage a portion of the order. They were extremely disrespectful very, passive aggressive, borderline belittling. we would have even paid for it, but they demonstrated a lack of professionalism so we walked away.

Ms V.

Yelp
so, today 8/23/24 the guy who answered the phone was very argumentative. I was trying to place my order and all he wanted to do was complain that he could not hear what I was saying. Even though I told him my number a few times. He would not get past that point. for a business owner he was very unprofessional and had the attitude that he did not want or need my order. Because I would not appease him with his bull crap he said "so you want to cancel your order" I said yes go ahead because at this point not only did I not want to patronize his business with his badly rude service, but I also didn't trust him with my food either. I won't miss anything from this so-called restaurant as they do nothing for the community that they thrive from anyway since they have been in that location. so definitely, nothing was lost on my part. unfortunately, i could not give a minus zero

Yelp
If you are from out of town and you don't have your vehicle this place is not the best, unless your Uber will wait for you!
google avatar

Timmy T.

Yelp
Went there for a fish sandwich which was below average so disappointed Reading the reviews was so excited found a good fish place

Yelp
Washington Shores may be small, but catch them at the right time and there will be a line around the building. They sell fried fish of various kinds and shrimp with hush puppies and fries. I'm from Louisiana, so on my scale it's a 3.5/4. The food is decently seasoned and the. portions are HUGE for the price. I easily made two meals out of it! I would definitely recommend it to others!

Anonymous 0.

Yelp
Rude and ghetto. This place lacks professionalism, not from the area. I asked them to let me know an estimate of how many pieces you get for the market price of fish for that day. The guy proceeds to say a pound and a quarter he said he did not know I said did you weigh any fish today? He said I don't know.

Gene M.

Yelp
Very popular local restaurant, Food is cooked to order hot and fresh fish so the wait is worth it but it really didn't take long on the busy day that I went, no place to sit down so expect to take it to go. As I really enjoyed this little take out spot I will be back

Corlisse E.

Yelp
This is my favorite fish sandwich. I've only tried Basa. Fish. I order over the phone I drive 30 to 35 minutes to pick it up. So you know it is worth the drive the sandwich is so large I can make three meals. I moved here in 2011 and I've been eating there every sense and this is 2023. It is worth the drive and worth the money.

Yelp
This was my first actual visit, but have enjoyed a dinner that was brought to me :) Due to having to travel the next day, I opted for what I thought would be a smaller meal, but getting a catfish sandwich which was a joke...there was still a ton of food. LOL! The only difference between the "sandwich" and the dinner is fries and hushpuppies. All in all, call your order in so it's ready when you arrive and keep in mind all orders are cooked to order, served piping hot, and over flowing the containers :). A great go to place for a solid meal for only $7-10 on average. Unless you get the snapper which will run you $12.

Natalia M.

Yelp
Best tilapia I have ever had!!! Everything is good, hush puppies, fries and grits! and the hot sauceeee ‍‍‍

Josefina I.

Yelp
If you looking for a real fish sandwich or seafood dinner.... Freshly made to your request... Prices are reasonable... Take out only... Can call in order for faster service... This is the Best in town...
google avatar

Kalvin K.

Yelp
I came here for lunch after seeing the many positive reviews. I consider myself a seafood aficionado, both catching and frying/cooking my own fish. I would say this place has a decent frying staff. The fish was not overcooked. The fish preparation was sub par in my opinion... my trout fillets still had bones in it (not the biggest deal, but may surprise some diners) and the batter was light but lacked seasoning. I used all their provided hot sauce to get some flavor into the fish. Price was very affordable and the grits were excellent. A little too much food for my wife and me, though.
google avatar

Gabrielle R.

Yelp
Fish is always hot and fresh. Just a tip- always call ahead. If you don't call ahead you could be waiting anywhere from 15-30 minutes. I have never had anything other than fish and fries there so I hate that I can not fully comment on the sides. The fish always tastes fresh and is cooked to order.
google avatar

Tre F.

Yelp
This is a no frills, hole in the wall fish spot. There's not much to look at, no place to sit, but who cares. Truthfully, this place does amazing things with fried fish. It's not overly expensive, but the portions are very generous. We're only in town once a year for our annual Disney trip and it's quite a distance from our resort(like 45 minutes), but it's worth every minute of the drive. Eating the fish hot is key. So, your car may be your only seating option, but it's worth it. It's good fish. All you really need is the white bread and some hot sauce and eat up

M M.

Yelp
Classic spot in Orlando! Fish is always fried perfectly, yum! Get grits if you like that southern style combo. Service is always great! Call and order before you arrive so you can pick it up hot fresh and ready! I always order ahead and pull up to the drive up window to grab my goodies! Hood area but the hood has the best food, it won't disappoint!!!
google avatar

Laila B.

Yelp
I came to town and decided to stop by; haven't had any in YEARS. I forgot how HUGE the portions are. A dinner is def enough for two ( unless the 2nd is a growing teenager). Nice size shrimp and tons of fries with the dinners. The wings and hush puppies were just ok for me but everything else made up for that. Def stopping by again soon!
google avatar

Sean P.

Yelp
Don't let the small little yellow box that the fish market is in foil you. This off the beaten path spot packs a serious punch if you want fresh fried fish. I haven't come across many places in Orlando that fillet and fry fresh fish. The menu is simple and to the point. The prices aren't over the top and you get a lot for your money. I had to wait a little longer than I wanted to for my food but that's what happens when it's fresh. The only real drawback is that you have to drive home to eat it or if you can't wait just eat in in your car in the parking lot. Next time I'll call ahead so my wait time is minimized.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Seafood was hot and flavorful! I order 3 dinners (shrimp, trout, and whiting), and it was super fresh! The customer service was also awesome!

Debra W.

Yelp
Food is subpar Niue the service is fast! Located in an urban area can be a bit intimidating.

Peggy B.

Yelp
Generous portions. Reasonably priced , great food. Would highly recommend giving it a try.
