"Wat Zab began in San Marcos a few years ago, and recently trekked to Austin, making Burnet Road the truck’s home. The menu includes dishes like egg rolls, curries, pineapple fried rice, and noodles." - Erin Russell

Google
The service was spot on; they were very friendly, spoke to us about the spice level, and were generally very pleasant. We chose to sit outside the van and eat so they gave us some bottles of water, some bug spray, and they brought out the food as it was ready. The pad see ewe was delicious and the penang curry was pretty spicy (as advised), but great flavours and overall really tasty. The sampler spring rolls was a great idea, and each roll was packed with goodness. The mango sticky rice was very flavoursome and portion sizes were great value for money.

Google
This is one of my favorite places in Austin for affordable and delicious Thai food made with lots of care. I always get the crab fried rice. Highly recommend. This food court pavilion is also a great space with covered tables, indoor restrooms, EV chargers, and a playground.

Graham Preston

Google
Really great pineapple fried rice. Spice level was dead on. The whole food truck park is a great find for lunch.

Mariana G

Google
This truck is in such a nice food truck park! I ordered the chicken pad Thai. You can choose the protein and spice level. The owner recommended going for the mild option, and I’m glad I listened. I enjoy spicy food but also deal with acid reflux, so I thought mild was the perfect amount of spicy. The only thing that was missing was the cilantro. Overall, it was one of the better pad Thai’s I’ve tried.

Google
The man taking my order was very kind and polite and even offered to walk our food out to us because it was so hot out! Amazing food and amazing thoughtfulness from this food truck, definitely recommend them :)

Syed Ashrafulla

Google
The pad kee mao with chicken was vibrant and spicy. I really enjoyed the texture of the noodles, even after a long travel. The taste was strong too. I'm going to go back to try more of this food truck's dishes. Hopefully I can enjoy the seating area too.

Google
The thai food here is delicious and authentic. The people who work there have exceptional service. Although it is a food truck, they made sure to check on us, that everything was good, and we had what we needed. We got pad thai and tom kha. Both were great and it will probably be my new go to thai place. I also like that their spicy levels go from none to as spicy as you want. We got mild and it was literally perfect for us- just a hint of spice. Def check it out!

Google
I got the panang curry and a Thai iced tea. The iced tea was excellent. The service was friendly and quick. The area has many pleasant places to eat. The curry was fine but not great. The sauce had good flavor but the meat was sparse and boiled-tasting, not flavorful. The veggies were cut too large and a little undercooked. Also, it was served in containers that made it hard to eat - a small styrofoam (any other material would be better) for the rice without room to add the curry. So, I did enjoy it, because the sauce had good flavor, but I wouldn’t get the curry again.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time tonight. I got the basil fried rice with added pork and it exceeded my expectations. They really managed to cook out the fragrance and flavors of the onions and basil, better than some Thai restaurants I've been to. The pork was surprisingly tender. I got medium spicy but it wasn't too bad at all; judging by other reviews, they probably run on the milder side. They seem quite popular because it took ~40 minutes to get my order that was placed on a Thurs night at 6:30pm. The guy taking the orders mentioned they had 18 online orders before me. Took one star off because he was a bit rude and seemed more interested in giving his spiel on how the food is all handmade rather than providing some sort of estimate on expected wait time. Good option on a slower day when the weather is nice.

Yelp
I ordered lunch yesterday for clients and got myself the green curry. I was excited to try it and it was tasty until food poisoning kicked in. Within 30 minutes of eating the curry, my stomach ached then everything went down hill from there. I know it was the curry because it's the only thing I ate yesterday. My clients swear but this place but I'm now off curry.

Yelp
Food truck...it's all the craze and has been for a few years now. You'd hope that one that sits in a food truck park all day every day would be good, right? Well, it is! I can't say I've had Thai food from a truck before and was a tad skeptical, but it was fantastic. Super flavourful and a good amount of spice. I'd say it could've used a bit more of the "protein", but I'm still thinking about how good it was and that overtakes that complaint. Try it!

Madeline A R.

Yelp
Really cute food truck with great service! I liked the ambience. The pad Thai was average, and spice level spicy isn't too spicy, but it's good. I added some salt to mine to bring out some more flavors and that helped!

Mary S.

Yelp
Order online or scan the QR code for the link. Came here while waiting on an order from another truck. Wish we had ordered from here instead. They have several Thai plates to choose from, including Panang curry. The eggrolls sampler were perfect for a quick appetizer. The people running the truck were friendly.

Ashleigh R.

Yelp
Ordered to-go for a team lunch and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Together we had the pad ew, the basil fried rice with added chicken, and the tofu pad Thai. Some of use did ask for extra silverware, sauce, etc and the person assured us more than once that our orders were indeed correct and everything we asked for was in the bag. I ordered the basil fried rice at the spicy spice level. It was not spicy at all. I honestly think I could've gone two spice levels up. The food was hot and fresh to order and had good flavors. The added lime was a great touch as well. My only complaint would be the added chicken was a bit on the drier side and was unfortunately a tad bland. If it just had a wee bit more seasoning, the meal would've been perfect. All in all, I'd recommend and am excited to try more things on the menu.

Cassandra C.

Yelp
I love their pad thai with clear noodle. Service is always good too. Friendly and delicious. The area surrounding the food truck is very peaceful during the week but parking can be a little difficult on weekends.

Mariana G.

Yelp
Such friendly service here and the crab fried rice really hit the spot. Super flavorful. A great price ($13.50) especially since the portion was generous enough for me to have leftovers for lunch the next day. I'd happily come back!

Kathleen M.

Yelp
I was visiting Neighbor Coffee and Friends, which shares a small seating area with WAT ZAB Thai Food, and had to stop by to pick up some lunch as well. The gentleman was exceptionally friendly and although the gluten free options were not noted on the menu, he was able to list off for me that handful of options which were not gluten free. Thankfully there were only a few things on the menu that I couldn't eat, and I was delighted to order my absolute favorite - pad thai! I split my protein option to half chicken/half tofu and have to say that this was some of the best pad thai I have ever eaten. The sauce is what absolutely makes it and the entire meal was delightful and full of flavor. I'll definitely be back and I can't wait to try other menu items. Very tasty and the seating area is very convenient. Parking is a bit challenging as it seems the area wasn't originally designed with food trucks in mind and there are several nearby businesses, but I was able to find a spot close enough to walk over. 9.7/10 - The food is amazing, service is friendly, and prices are reasonable, but parking is limited.

LaToya L.

Yelp
Amazing Thai food and great service. My go to is the crab fried rice! Hands down my fave in Austin!

Ian H.

Yelp
Very good thai food. Nice guy who runs the cart as well. It's tucked away with several other carts but I haven't had issues getting a parking in their little lot.

Sara G.

Yelp
I think the pad kee mai here might be better than at Titaya's, and that is quite a feat. The service is also impeccable. The owner makes you feel like he truly cares that you enjoy your food.

Andy C.

Yelp
Best pad kee mao I've had in Austin so far. And I've tried like, 6. Fried Tofu in the dish was super great. They were clearly busy but the dude was helpful when ChowNow website wouldn't work for me. I selfishly am so excited for them to come back to town after their Thailand trip!

Annabel P.

Yelp
Pad thai and basil fried rice were really tasty. Ordered ahead of time without any hassle

Jane R.

Yelp
So wonderful and tasty! This food truck is in a great location, and the owner is SO kind. She went out of her way to check on her customers eating outside. The food is made SO fresh on the spot. I got the pad see ew and I will DEFINITELY go back.

Shradha A.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try out this highly recommended Thai food truck for so long and yesterday, decided that it was worth the 20 minute drive north to pickup food. The owner is certainly warm and friendly as everyone has mentioned. But you're here to know how the food was. The red curry is the best I've had in Austin! The flavoring was delicious and the thickness of the curry was just right. It made the drive worth it. The pad thai wasn't my favorite and I'm not sure what's different - the noodles were thicker than the usual. I cant wait to return and try the green curry next!

Amira B.

Yelp
The food here is so fresh and delicious. I ordered the fried rice with tofu (mild). The portion is huge and food is very hot (right off the stove). Flavor is amazing. They put an easy over egg on top, which is so good. I also ordered the Thai iced tea too and it was so good. Best Thai food that I've had in Austin.

Barry L.

Yelp
good food, i love the crab fried rice, you have to order food online and you are asked to tip

Anya Z.

Yelp
Prices are up $1.50 from the $9 on the menu photos, but don't let that deter you! What stood out about the pad see ew I got was how fresh the texture of the noodles were.. by far the freshest I've ever had. Usually thai noodles can be a bit on the dry side but these were just the right amount of bouncy and supple hahah. Appreciate that they had chili oil.. I'm used to Madam Maam's giving a huge portion of the oil but honestly the amount I got was just right.. if you asked for the dish to be spicy, it's spicy enough . The chili oil just adds a nice crunch and sweetness to the dish. The owners were very friendly! Looking forward to coming back to try out the some curry.

Vivian F.

Yelp
Disappointed - pad see ew had SO much pepper. Did not taste right at all. Pad thai chicken and pad see ew beef - both meats were dry.

Lauryn P.

Yelp
First of all, I was blown away by the texture of the noodles! Most places I've ordered from have noodles that are extremely dry or start sticking together after five minutes. I was a bit taken aback before I first tasted them because they were noticeably drenched and thought that would equal bland, but they were good and flavorful. I think it came at a medium spice level, and I'd probably be happy getting a bit more spicy next time. Food was good, no complaints there. The owners were also extremely nice! Very hospitable and all. Will def be coming back to this place:)

Regan R.

Yelp
I've always received extremely friendly service and the food has always been 5 stars. Make sure to order ahead during dinner time - they're popular.

Mary S.

Yelp
I ordered a soup which just wasn't good. Chicken was old and tough to chew and soup has no flavor. This is a really expensive place as well. My advice - visit a real Thai restaurant in town and you'll get better food at a cheaper price.

Janet F.

Yelp
Best Thai food I've had all year. They even called to verify they made my side of noodles was prepared the way I wanted. When ChowNow submitted the order for three days away....the owner corrected the problem right away. I definitely recommend this truck. Delicious! And the service was excellent.

Victor E.

Yelp
We stopped by here for some spur-of-the-moment curry. (Apparently we picked the right moment because there was parking available. That's probably the main problem for this food truck court: too many option, not enough parking spaces. I guess people usually park across the street?) Ok, the red curry (two peppers) was pleasantly spicy and very flavorful. (Ditto the veggie delight.) Tofu and veggies were all prepared just right. Since they make everything on the spot it was all quite perfect, and service was still pretty quick. The cheerful couple running the truck even explained the name of the truck, even though they probably do so a hundred times a day. Very warmly recommended.

Cameron N.

Yelp
Yum! I got pork egg rolls, pad see ew, and thai tea. The pork egg rolls were perfectly crisp, though the sauce was a bit liquidy. Oh well. The pad see ew was very tasty and was just enough to fill me up. You can never go wrong with thai tea either. There is lots of parking spaces and a short time to receive your food

Wang T.

Yelp
bangin thai food. all around dope vibes too. I Once again Find Great owners. I don't remember what I ordered because I asked the owner what his fav dish was. Friends got curry and loved it! First time trying Thai tea aswell. Sh** was hittin!!!

Anthony T.

Yelp
Was really hoping to try the food here, but was rudely greeted by a man who said in a very crass tone that they were closed due to having a large amount of orders. He barely made eye contact with me and shooed me away with his hands. Instead, he could have apologize and calmly say that they can't take anymore orders because you could have to wait over an hour. He definitely made me felt like a beggar for free food. Very poor way of doing business.

Anais B.

Yelp
Best shrimp rolls, which were fresh and crispy! The shrimp lo mein was great! The owner was very nice, and we kept going back from the shrimp rolls. Great experience! A must try.

Marla L.

Yelp
So many options in the food truck park, and so glad we decided on Wat Zab! Service was super friendly, and wait time was nominal (caveat, there was no line of people waiting). I went with the Pad Plick Pao stir-fry because I life spicy. Large portion, served with rice, and flavor galore. Wasn't the spiciest I've had, but a nice clean flavor with a kick. Definitely enough for two dinners. Also tried the Panang Curry, which was formidable as well. I would definitely come back to the truck.

Greg M.

Yelp
I was really impressed. Truthfully I've struggled to find really good Thai food in Austin. And honestly this place has the best pad Thai I've found yet. Recommend ordering ahead as they can get a little busy. Highly recommend!

Gabi D.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service! The Thai tea was refreshing and not too sweet. I'm definitely going to be eating here again!

Shraddha B.

Yelp
Great food Great ambiance Great owner Must try red Thai curry and basil rice Everything is yummy and delicious

Carolyn V.

Yelp
The Good: :: local business! owned by a charming couple. the chef is Thai, which explains why the food is so legit :: friendly service every time. the husband is so nice and courteous! :: food tastes great, has lots of flavor, and can have some heat. don't be afraid to ask them to pump up the heat levels! :: they sell beverages, too :: the bathroom next to them is for use by the food trailers. AWESOME because portopotties are foul as hell, let's be honest. it's nice to have access to an actual restroom, soap and water! :: lots of outdoor tables with shade :: playground for use by all the customers in the food trailer area :: they have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options :: try their shrimp crispy rolls, pad thai, and tom yum soup! The Bad: :: parking can get a little tricky when it's busy The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? Most definitely yes! It's now on my list of regular rotations. This place is IN.

Yiovani R.

Yelp
This tea was NOT WATERY!!!!! I loved it! I can't tell you how many times I've been to tea houses and it just never meets my expectations. My only disappointment was when it was all gone I was left wanting more! It's funny because I went specifically for food yet here am I reviewing the drink haha! I had the Pad Cashew for dinner. Pretty tasty, lots of rice included, & packed with flavor. There's not much brown sauce for the rice, but it suffices for the main mixture of the entree itself. I honestly am thinking of going back & trying different things on the menu- now that they have my tastebud's attention.

Akarapol P.

Yelp
Amazing and authentic Thai food is here. Taste is same in Thailand and flavor full. I will back for sure.

Rex C.

Yelp
The owner is extremely nice! We got the pad Thai chicken and house fried rice with beef. The cook everything fresh to order. I really e joyed the house fried rice with beef. Lots of flavor. The beef was extremely good and tender. I really enjoyed my dish. Only 9.00 for a really nice sized box of fried rice. Again they do a great job with the beef and the flavor. My son had the chicken pad Thai. I tried some and It was full of flavor. Everything tasted really fresh. The owners gets all his recipes from his mom. So the food is legit. I am glad we found this place. Very affordable too. We paid 18.00 for dinner versus the over priced bbq we got earlier at Micklethwaits. 43.00 for small portion and average bbq. So yeah this super glad we found this place. Talked to the owner for a bit about Thai food and Houston Thai food. If you have every been to Houston you have to try the best spot in Houston. Thai Gourmet. They have amazing everything. They make these really good spicy cheese rolls.

Megan G.

Yelp
I've been coming here for quite some time now and the staff is always kind & greets you with a smile. You honestly cannot beat this place & their prices. They are able to accommodate my requests in regards to making my pad Thai spicy. I love it! Cannot wait for them to open their restaurant because I will definitely be dining in! The owners definitely know what they are doing. Everything in my photo cost only $14. (Also, if you don't want to wait in the summer heat for your food, it's easy to call in the order so it's ready by the time you arrive) Great service, great food, great prices, great everything.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Ok! Torn between a 3 and a 4 but going with 4 because I will go back and try it again. Cute little food truck on Burnet, in a good truck park with a decent amount of parking. I was craving Thai so used yelp to find something nearby and came across WAT. Apparently people have issues with the hours? I went during the hours listed on yelp and they were open. There was no one there when I got there but the food took some time to come out so you know it's being made fresh which is nice. I ordered the shrimp roll (thinking it was an egg roll with shrimp / it wasn't lol) and Pad Thai. I was told the pad Thai is a bit spicy and was like yes! I'm into that. So the shrimp roll was shrimp wrapped in wonton and fried and was delicious. So good. I was bummed at first when I realized it wasn't an egg roll with shrimp but was happy once I tried it, hot, not greasy, super fresh, delicious. Where they lost me was the pad Thai. There was noooooooooo spice to it. I ended up dousing it in sriracha. It was also SO SO SO sweet. Like too sweet. Even with the addition of sriracha it didn't balance out the sweetness. I don't order pad Thai a lot, but was expecting some fresh herbs or something but there weren't so that was lacking. The quality was great, and it was hot and fresh. It was just way too sweet. So over all, I'd go back. I'd try something else as the pad Thai just wasn't for me. I'd get the egg rolls and hope they're as good as a shrimp rolls. It's worth checking out!

Lauren E.

Yelp
We hired Wat Zab for a work event. They arrived and set out everything with a great display. There was SO MUCH food!! It was a hit with my department, the Red Penang Curry being the favorite. Thank you again!!

Brenda L.

Yelp
I was craving some Thai food for a while and my favorite place had closed down due to the pandemic. I found some good reviews on Wat Zab so I decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you they're not lying! The Thai tea was the right amount of creamy and not watery. The Pad Thai was delicious and filling. The fried rice was devoured by my partner to say the least. This place gives you a good amount for your buck. I have found myself my go to Thai place again!

Sarah H.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Austin - I'm so impressed with the flavors ... and they nailed the veggie textures in my Green Curry! I've had Thai food many, many times - all over the United States. This food truck is up there with the best! I'm absolutely coming back.

Clay N.

Yelp
Would definitely recommend. They are nice and the curry is up there along with the other noodle options

malley n.

Yelp
Ordered the pad see ew and the yellow curry. Both phenomenal and the service was lovely. Food came fast and hot!

Samuel C.

Yelp
Meh. * * * Wat Zab has people who love it. They can have it. Standard issue American Thai food. Execution: 4 on a scale from 1-10. People say this stuff is super spicy. No one at my table had a dish that was even as hot as a chipotle. Obviously there was nothing as hot as a habanero. People say the flavorings are super unique or super authentic. My Massaman curry tasted pretty much like the yellow curry paste you buy in the can at any Thai store, matched with the coconut milk you buy in the can at any Thai store. That is a standard mix and it is available at Thai restaurants all across town. The vegetables in the vegetable curry were mostly potato. Nothing more flavorful than a boiled potato, right? Especially in a dish you are serving on rice. * * * An additional nuisance is the serving style. They put super hot liquid food In un-insulated plastic soup containers. It hurts your hand to handle the containers or to open the containers. If I am going to be eating the stuff right here at the table, why not serve it to me in a plate or a bowl? * * * 5000 Burnet is the best food court in Austin with some of the best food trucks in the city. Skipping those to eat Plain Jane American Thai makes no sense to me.

Curt G.

Yelp
There wasn't one thing I didn't like about this place. I got the Pad Kee Mao, with chicken, and the Egg Roll. Everything was super fresh and the service was spot on. We went on a Saturday night around 7 and it wasn't very crowded. There were plenty of tables to eat, if it did get a bit busy. If you're in the area, stop by. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Samantha S.

Yelp
The owner was super nice and welcoming. We waited less than 15 mins to get our food and it was exactly what I needed the green curry was mild the rice was plentiful and the pad Thai was pretty good the cheese rolls were super yummy . Must try .

Jenny N.

Yelp
Not the best Thai food I've ever had in Austin, but very above average. What impressed: I'm used to long wait times for food trucks, but their food came fast. Their service was friendly. The options were different. Their spice level is above average. What didn't impress: I've been to this complex 4 times and this is the first time they were open before noon. They ran out of Thai Coffee (we came around the lunch hour on a Tuesday)...can you run out when you just opened and it's the beginning of the week? Overall, I would come back for a quick lunch.

Wayne N.

Yelp
Great thai food trailer. They have a pretty expansive menu and the food comes out hand delivered by the owner - that's a pretty nice personal touch. Can take a bit of time if they're swamped on orders but it'll get to you. The food is pretty good and comes in a nicely packed bento box. I got a nam tok and its a flavorful, slight heat kick flavor profile was juxtaposed well with iceburg lettuce for some cool crisp crunch. Sticky rice on the side helps soak up all the flavorful juices too so it makes for a very good meal on a hot summer day. Other things that look very good and worth trying: pineapple fried rice and any of the curries. The yellow curry comes in a large container so its plenty of food for even the hungriest of people.
