The Watch House Review - Bermondsey - London - The Infatuation

"What The Watch House in Bermondsey lacks in size it makes up for in character. In fact, if it isn’t London’s most charismatic coffee spot then we have no idea what is. It has a roaring fire, great sandwiches and pastries, an excellent espresso bar, and - as its name suggests - is housed in a converted 19th century guard’s shelter on the edge of a graveyard. It’s also open till 6pm which is a good two hours later than most cafés we know." - Oliver Feldman

Just visited the original WatchHouse on Bermondsey Street, where it all began, and I can see why this place sparked a modern coffee movement in London. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was calm and refined, with that signature WatchHouse blend of great design and thoughtful service. The coffee? Impeccable. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, you can tell their beans are roasted with real care. Huge shoutout to Deneb, Aron, and Grace, who were running the show today, incredibly friendly, sharp, and passionate about what they do. It's rare to see a team that blends efficiency and warmth so effortlessly. If you haven’t experienced WatchHouse yet, start here. It’s more than a café, it’s a beautifully crafted space to pause, connect, and enjoy seriously good coffee.

This is the 15th WatchHouse I have visited and very unique particularly due to the history behind the building and also it is the first WatchHouse I believe. As usual the coffee is great. Service was ok.

Cute little coffee stop with yummy bakery treats and pastries. Hot and iced drinks available and they sweeten with either sugar or honey syrup; no flavorings available. The latte with honey syrup was delicious and had a nice honey flavor, especially toward the end.

A little treasure in a city centre full of uslessy expensive coffe shop with no value. This one is very nice and cozy, perfect food and coffe (word of an Italian). They also have a fidelity program you can join! Loved it

Cozy place to stop for a good coffee. The staff is great and knowledgeable. Great pastries (banana bread (vegan) and cardamom bun are a must). Quite small inside, there is a nice park next to it to sit down and watch dogs.

What can I say about my beloved WatchHouse? The coffee is the best, and the food tasty. But I keep coming back for the people. They don’t wear name tags so I don’t know their names, but they are like family. Us regulars cherish our little moments together, with them and with each other.

I went for a cup of coffee with my friend and found an amazing spot! Now I want to go here every time I’m in central London. I had a cold brew and an oat flat white (yes, I’m coffee addicted). Both drinks were amazingly delicious. Baristas Gian and Eugene were super puper friendly. Gian made the atmosphere super comfy with his jokes and chatting to us in between his work. You’ve got definitely one of the best barista I’ve experienced. I’ll see you sooooon cause I really loved the spot hidden from high street

I really don’t get the hype. My iced coffee was very thin and pretty bland so rather get a better coffee somewhere else but maybe their hot coffees are better. Very little space and just not the vibe for an iced drink on a warmer day. There response was come back on a colder day when there is a fire to ‘warm my heart and lift my mood’ (which I’m not sure if it’s meant to be a dig?) and perhaps a colder day where it’s cozy with a hot drink would go down better but the iced coffees still not to my liking - maybe will give the matcha a go next time?
