"What The Watch House in Bermondsey lacks in size it makes up for in character. In fact, if it isn’t London’s most charismatic coffee spot then we have no idea what is. It has a roaring fire, great sandwiches and pastries, an excellent espresso bar, and - as its name suggests - is housed in a converted 19th century guard’s shelter on the edge of a graveyard. It’s also open till 6pm which is a good two hours later than most cafés we know." - Oliver Feldman

Original location that was an actual watch house where they would watch for grave robbers. Really code cool spot with a beautiful wood ceiling and fireplace. Amazing coffee, got a decaf oat cappuccino, and warmed up banana bread perfectly sweet. AND! The service was amazing, Sam & Jean were super attentive and I felt really welcome. Love this spot x

Nestled in the heart of Bermondsey, The WatchHouse is an absolute gem that I return to time and time again. This coffee spot perfectly blends the charm of London’s history with a modern, welcoming atmosphere. The coffee here is exceptional—crafted with precision and passion. What truly sets The WatchHouse apart is its ambiance and the people who bring it to life. The thoughtful design, warm lighting, and cosy corners, enhanced by the warmth of a wood fire, create an ideal setting for anything, be it a quiet moment with a book, or soaking in the vibe of Bermondsey Street. The staff, much like Gian a friendly, warm, and generous soul, are consistently attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to make your experience unforgettable. For coffee lovers and seekers of a peaceful urban retreat, The WatchHouse is an unmissable destination. It’s not just a coffee spot…it’s an experience, a ritual, and a highlight of my London life.

This is a must go to coffee shop, if you only have time for one coffee shop in London go here! I got an excellent flat white with soy milk. I love that they give you a card that tells you about the coffee they used in your drink. I also bought a bag of beans while I was here and the barista was helpful in helping me decide between the different varieties. This unique location of watchhouse is in an old watchhouse so the space is quite small making it super cozy.

My favourite café on Bermondsey Street. A very tiny and cozy café. Their coffee is very good and their croissants are delicious! I found them years ago (my children were quite small), but it still there and haven’t changed since then.

Coffee is the best i've had, no surprise it was voted Europe's best - can't go back to Starbucks or Pret after this. Food is fresh and tasty and ambiance is calm. Service is exceptional, was recommended to download the app which is a cheat code to beating the morning queues.
