Water & Wheat Upper West

Wonderful new Italian on the UWS. Just went there for lunch today. I had the carbonara made with 3 yolks. It was one of the best I’ve had in the U. S. It had the right amount of sauce and guanciale with wonderful flavor. My wife had the eggplant Parmesan which was large enough to take half home. The pour of the red wine was generous and my cortado finished the meal off perfectly. We’ll definitely be back!

Wow, just about sums it up. I had a delicious dinner at the bar on a Saturday night. The watercress salad was definitely one of the best salads I’ve ever had. I also had the lemon basil pasta – absolutely delicious! The wine was great and their new cocktail, the Tempest, was Definitely something I’d order again. The service was attentive, the manager was clearly at the top of his game, and I was able to think the chef for his wonderful creations. I always order tiramisu at any restaurant that has it on their menu. My friends and I have a running list of the places we’ve been to that have the best tiramisu. This place is definitely in the top three places with the best tiramisu. I’ll have to bring my friends back here to decide if it ousts our current number one place for tiramisu.! can’t wait to come back here.

Water & Wheat on Broadway absolutely blew me away. I had the chicken parmesan, and without exaggeration, it was the best chicken parm I have ever had in my life. It was so good that I literally drove four hours back just to have it again. The pasta was absolutely incredible with an unbelievable texture—perfectly cooked and clearly made with care. Between the chicken, the sauce, and the pasta, this dish is unforgettable. If you’re even considering it—do it. Worth every mile.

I have absolutely loved this place on the upper east side, and I am so excited that they are opening a new location on the upper west. This location is much more upscale than their first one but the food is just as good. Great for a date night and or an easy night out with friends. I strongly recommend their homemade pasta along with their fantastic sauces. PS they should add the meatball flatbread back to the menu ;)

I had the pleasure of dining at Water & Wheat today, and I can honestly say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The space itself is gorgeous — warm, elegant, and thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed yet refined evening. Every detail felt intentional, from the lighting to the table settings. The food was absolutely amazing — beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Each dish showcased creativity and quality ingredients, the kind that makes you want to savor every bite. The wine list was particularly impressive, offering a diverse and interesting selection that perfectly complemented the menu. The staff were knowledgeable and guided us to an excellent pairing. Overall, Water & Wheat delivers a true Upper West Side gem — stylish, sophisticated, and delicious in every way. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Food was so good fresh pasta. The Bruschetta was delicious we enjoyed our lunch ! Very cozy restaurant !

Water and Wheat on the Upper West Side has a lot of potential and, with a few adjustments, could be truly outstanding. The setting is pleasant and the service is above average—staff is generally attentive and friendly. That said, there are some puzzling choices in how the meal is structured. We were handed the wine list as soon as we sat down, but the cocktail menu didn’t appear until it was attached to the dessert menu at the very end of the meal. It makes me wonder if management fully understands (or values) the difference between an apéritif and a digestif. The pacing of the meal also felt rushed, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Our main courses arrived when we were only halfway through the appetizers, which undercut the chance to enjoy each course at a comfortable pace. On the food side, the menu is a bit of a mixed bag. The meatball appetizer is excellent—flavorful and satisfying—while the calamari, though not terrible, was on the chewy side. The salads are good, if not particularly memorable. Where Water and Wheat really shines is in its fresh pastas and sauces. You can tell the pasta is made in-house; it tastes fresh, with great texture and well-balanced sauces that feel like the heart of the restaurant. The flatbreads, however, are a disappointment. They eat more like flat crackers than anything resembling the fresh focaccia or pizza-style dough they seem to be aiming for—especially puzzling given the obvious skill in their pasta dough. If they applied that same care to their breads and fine-tuned the pacing and beverage service, this place could be amazing. Just my humble opinion, but it’s very close to being something special.

We ordered garlic shrimp and short rib braised risotto! Risotto was nice and delicious but the shrimp garlic pasta was really bland and tasteless! I think they should take that out of their menu. Other than that everything was fine.
