Water Grill

We had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant! The food was simply outstanding, with every dish bursting with rich and delicious flavors. The environment was equally impressive, offering a warm and inviting ambiance that made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food in a lovely setting!

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Santa Monica. Delicious food, amazing ambience, and great customer service makes for an excellent dining experience. I started off with their table bread and butter. It was freshly baked and the butter appeared to be whisked. The wild Spanish octopus was amazing, very tender and flavorful. Problem is an octopus has eight legs but they only giving you one. The calamari was also great, crispy & seasoned perfectly. The dipping sauce was an excellent addition. The dozen oyster sampler was also a good, a great mix of the freshest and cleanest tasting oysters I’ve had. The Caesar salad with anchovies was a great salad overall. The wild Ross sea Chilean sea bass entree was phenomenal and one of the best versions I’ve ever had. It was tender, juicy and flavorful with a creamy sauce that took it to the top. For dessert I highly recommend the bread pudding with Carmel ice cream. It was freshly baked and the combination of ice cream and bread pudding, makes for a solid finale. I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items. An excellent restaurant with that wonderful Santa Monica view of the ocean. Lots of great people watching opportunities too. Parking can be a hassle & I recommend taking the train and doing the 15-20 min walk.

Best place for Raw Oysters in Santa Monica, the considerations for variety available on the menu and quality of product. It gets super busy on the weekend, so beware. Raw Oysters from the Atlantic and Pacific. They got hot bread from the oven that is delicious; goes great with clam chowder. Also beware they put carrots in their clam chowder here, must be a California thing(I'm from New England). Butternut Squash side was perfectly cooked. Key Lime Pie was Amazing!!! Interior of the Restaurant looks like a Wooden Ship, great ambiance for a date or business meeting.

My family and I had an incredible meal at Grill! The service, a female, whose name I can’t recall, was very tuned into us, and our needs. The seafood was spectacular. According to my daughter and her partner, the oysters were stellar! I also have dietary restrictions, and they were very respectful of them. Although this is not an inexpensive dinner, it was worth every penny!

Excellent food and service despite initial incident. Our family’s been a very frequent patron of the Water Grill up in Bellevue, WA and this was our first time dining at the Santa Monica location. The incident happened last night 6/22/24 when one of the hosts (skinny white guy with fake Prada sunglasses) decided to be racist and completely ignore me and my stroller standing in front of the check in booth and only look and speak to the white family behind me. Upon telling a different host about the incident, we received multiple genuine apologies and a discount to our bill. The rest of the evening went as expected. Excellent food (halibut cheeks, grilled bream, black cod with soba) and excellent service from our waitress. Also always appreciate the no corkage fee. Patio had excellent view of ocean ave but can be a bit loud for young kids. Would come back just without our toddler next time. But even so our waitress Amanda was excellent and tried to accommodate and engage our kid. Same with the manager lady, who seemed so good with kids.

Was fortunate to have lunch today at this great place. Stephanie our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and super attentive. Food was amazing, the bread alone is to die for. Best meal on our 5 day visit to LA area. You won't be disappointed.

Had a fantastic day out at the Water Grill and Santa Monica pier. Our table had a great view overlooking the esplanade with plenty of people watching opportunities and a great view of the ocean. Good service and we enjoyed the Fillet Mignon and Charcoal Grilled Mary’s Organic Chicken - both Magnificent !! Couple of side of the Caesar Salad and Roast Beets Salad - smashing combo with protein hits !! We walked down across the Santa Monica pier prior and Checked out the LA Breakers and did some shopping. ( See Video - they were great ) Then enjoyed and rehydrated at the Water grill with a great meal. Take the tip and try out this combo for a great day as soon as you can.

Food was great, but the oysters and scallops lacked the brine. The jalapeño sauce didn’t have a kick but you could taste everything. The oysters Rockefeller were perfection and the broccolini is to die for. The Brussel sprouts didn’t cook to even consistencies, but my shrimp scampi was amazing. The pasta fresh and garlic at the right level. Definitely worth checking out.
