Water Witch, in the Starland District, will carry you away to a brief island vacay! You'll step into a faraway place with tropical foliage from floor to ceiling, wicker chairs, a gurgling corner waterfall fountain, candle lit tables and Jimmy Buffett or the sound track of South Pacific playing in the background. This tiki bar was appealing on this cold January night!
Classic and Modern umbrella cocktails are the center of attention on their cocktail menu, but they have a full bar, wine and beer offerings, too. Our group happened upon this new spot, and we couldn't resist the draw of this tropical retreat. These cocktails are a mature, classic version with top shelf liquor and exquisitely garnished with orchids (yes appeared to be real flowers), mint and chunks of pineapple. Hubs ordered me the the Pain Killer $12, a similar drink to the Pina Colada but with orange juice instead of cream and served with grated nutmeg. Garnished with a chunk of pineapple it's served in fun Tiki glassware. Be warned, it will cost you $40 should you decide to take a tiki glass home. The birthday girl in the group ordered a Navy Grog, $10, a blend of Demerara rum, dark rum, fresh lime and grapefruit juice, club soda and honey. It was beautifully garnished with an orchid and fresh mint.
Group "bowls" of libations are offered, too: Kamehameha Rum Punch, $22, or Scorpion Bowl, $25.
If wine is your preferred choice they have a small variety of white and red on their cocktail menu and all French in origin. You'll find craft brew here too, $5, Pacifico, Pretoria Fields, Scofflaw, Tiger Beer, Tona, and Victoria.
They have a limited "bites" menu of 7 items ranging from Ahi tuna poke, lump crabmeat dip to a pork offering, $10-$13. Feed your group and try an assortment PuPu Platter for $50.
I'd love to see Water Witch add the historical Savannah original, Artillery Punch, to their cocktail menu. I believe they would do it justice! I look forward to a return visit!
