Waterfront Hotel - JDV by Hyatt

Service and attention to detail..NOT! They're very friendly at the front desk, but you want an extra blanket? Might get one, might not...they'll phone in for one but no idea if you'll get one - we didn't. Want your room serviced? Good luck - better phone in the request at least a day before - even though we specifically requested cleaning the room every day. Hotel restaurant is permanently closed - there's a little grab 'n go shop where you can get a bagel for $25... They're charging $40 for valet service, but there's no one at the valet desk, so you get to park your own car for $40 a day. Rooms are OK, but AC is old and noisy, lighting is meh, one of the lamps was falling apart in our room, and there was an AC strip just kinda jury-rigged into the space next to the bed with all the cords for the various lamps/clock dangling. Hyatt should be ashamed of this hotel. Great location, but terrible service.

First Time in Oakland. Quick stay for an A’s game. A great base to explore the Jack London district. We were charged a destination fee, however, the bar and other amenities covered by the fee were not open/available for our stay. They took off the charge but I had to ask. Our room was nice and had a great view. We would stay again. Visited 7/2024.

Great hotel. Balcony views were amazing. Good rooms, great service. Balcony itself was slightly dirty and not private from adjacent rooms, separated by a cloth divider. Bathroom was only okay, especially the tub, shower and toilet. Could use better ones. Overall, would definitely recommend it.

ADD $25 to the posted price to see what you really pay per night. They add $25 for a destination fee that covers nothing. Nothing was explained at check in. Do your research. Room was ok, definitely used. No comfy chair, only 2 desk style chairs. Bed was good. Bathroom was poor. Shower was too short for me and I'm 5'5". The area has charm. Make sure you wander down to the First & Last Chance Tavern. Only one homeless guy camped out overnight on the pier in front of the hotel. We were turned away from the BBQ restaurant at 7:30 when they close at 8 and were PACKED with other customers. We ate at the sushi place; that was ok- just not what we needed as casual travelers. No morning coffee. Just LOUD pop music playing in the lounge next to the front desk the morning we stayed.

My first time visiting the Waterfront Marriott at Oakland. We booked the penthouse suite and it was an excellent experience. When you open the doors, you are welcome to a gorgeous view of the waterfront. The Oakland ferry is right next door and Marina is beautiful. The suite was well kept and Clean and perfect for that weekend get away. Overnight valet parking will set you back $40 per night which is put towards your room bill. The hotel offers a heated pool which we did not use because our room came with a Jacuzzi. The penthouse suite also comes with a full kitchen and a comfortable living room. Being located right in the center of Jack London Square. There are plenty of food options, nice walking trails and good police and security presence to keep you safe. One annoying thing was the trains that keep passing down the street which can be very noisy. Even during the nights. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay here and recommended it to future visitors.

Rooms are very old and basic. Property is so noisy that it's impossible to get any sleep. Minimal Globalist benefits, front desk didn't even hold preferred location, much less offer an upgrade. Restaurant is closed so only breakfast is a cheap grab & go option that is not appealing. I really like Jack London Square but cannot recommend this property to any Hyatt elite members.

Amazing boutique style hotel with amazing city and marina views. Excellent and accommodating staff. During my stay, I encountered a minor issue with my room, but Alex the manager handled it with the utmost professionalism and efficiency. Not only did they promptly address the issue, but they also went above and beyond to ensure that I was completely satisfied with my stay. Alex as well as the rest of his staff demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills and genuine care for the comfort and satisfaction of their guests. Their attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent customer service truly set them apart. I look forward to returning to this hotel in the future and experiencing the unparalleled hospitality that Alex and their team provide.

This hotel staff is exceptional. Really set the bar for Hyatt which alone does a great job. Zeke helped us check in, and really went above and beyond. I travel very often and have great experiences at Hyatts but this location is definitely one I look forward to revisiting.
