Was really looking forward to our visit at this new restaurant, the Waterhawk Lake Club. Learned from our waitress that the name was chosen because the owner is into birds and noted that there were osprey, also known as waterhawks, in the mornings overlooking Roberts Lake looking for fish to prey upon. The name made a lot more sense to us after we heard that story. The interior is minimalistic, yet inviting, with an outdoor vibe. The outside area has bench seating with umbrellas overlooking Roberts Lake. We ended up sitting indoors as the bench seating looked hard and uncomfortable with no back support, and it was pretty warm outside. I might bring a cushion next time for myself if we want to sit outside. We sat indoors with comfortable seats facing the lake and it was very nice. Our waitress came to assist us right away and we had lots of questions, which she was happy to answer. I guess the beef for the hamburger is locally sourced and butchered and the meat then brought to the restaurant for the making of patties for the burgers, which are flame charbroiled. The burgers were cooked as requested, and were very juicy. The bun was sufficient, but because the burgers were so juicy, they were slightly falling apart. The burger was good sized (maybe 1/3# lb?) had a garlic aïoli with shredded lettuce and a tomato and pickles. The burger came with a choice of either fries or a side salad and we chose crispy french fries. The french fries came with a side of ketchup. The french fries were delicious. I had the BLT, which was good, not excellent. I asked for crispy bacon. There was plenty of bacon and I was happy about that and cooked just the way I like. It was served with a bun with garlic aïoli, a piece of butter lettuce and one fairly small tomato slice, maybe 2" round. For $19 I thought the tomato slice could've been quite a bit larger, or at least two slices of tomato, to at least cover the size of the sandwich. I asked for one extra slice of tomato and another leaf of lettuce as there just wasn't enough lettuce on the sandwich. Again, I ordered the fries for my sandwich. I had one of the beers, which were appropriately priced and it was very good. Our waitress was excellent. We will be returning, especially if they enlarge their menu a bit. I think they could've had maybe one or two more sandwich options, such as a classic club sandwich on regular toasted sliced bread and maybe a stepped-up grilled cheese sandwich, and some more entrée sized salads. Next time I would like to try the corn appetizer, which looks amazing. I hope they get some seat pads maybe for the bench seating outside, which would make it a little more comfortable. Because the restaurant only opened two days ago, I thought there would be some glitches of some sort, but there was not, and we enjoyed our time there.
