"Nothing beats the buzz of a big bistro and, judging by the numbers who flock here, the locals heartily agree. The modern, unfussy dishes are influenced by Europe, with Italy holding sway – this is the kind of food you could happily eat every day. Prices, too, are excellent, particularly considering its city centre location. The period building also houses a cookery school and event space." - Michelin Inspector

The Underrated Irish City You Should Have On Your Radar

"Waterman House, located in the Cathedral Quarter, is run by Niall McKenna and features its own cooking school. It is much-lauded for its culinary offerings."

This was such a fantastic experience. A fabulously organised set up. Niall and Clare were so informative, sharing their years of culinary knowledge and great tips. The food was amazing - cooked by myself using great quality ingredients. I am now an expert in curry making. Thanks so much and I definitely recommend doing the curry Masterclass.

Got a voucher to go to the French food and wine pairing night at waterman cookery school and it was brilliant. Niall was great, instructed really clearly and was great to listen to as he talked through things. The wine was really nice and the food was the best I’ve ever made and I’ll definitely be using the recipe’s again. I made an onion and thyme tatin, chocolate mousse and creamy chicken leg with a cheese sauce

We did a class at the cookery school and it was fantastic! Clare is a wonderful teacher, the class was engaging and fun, and we got lots of treats to take home with us. The group size isn’t too large so there is plenty of opportunity for everybody to ask questions or receive guidance where necessary. We will definitely be coming back for more classes

This month I and a few friends attended the Cookery School at Waterman House for a bread making course. As I'm not very good at anything in the kitchen I was super worried about how I'd cope with making bread from scratch. Turns out I'm OK at it, although I am going to say that was down to the very welcoming and supportive host Claire. She guided us all through the various breads. We made 4 different loaves as well as 2 batches of Pizza dough each. Each person was able to make there own individual pizza, shown how to roll out the base and encouraged to load that bad boy up with as many toppings as we'd like. We each then sat and ate our beautiful pizza and sipped on a glass a wine to finish the session. I can honestly say it was good fun and I learned a lot. I will definitely go back and do another masterclass. The list of classes available varied. Thanks so much to all at Waterman House

We were at a seafood and fish cookery course today, hosted by Niall and Claire. We were taught how to cook 4 dishes. The amount of detail in the course was fantastic, once we cooked each dish we sat down at a family style table and ate each dish, accompanied with wine. Niall and Claire were really engaging and so knowledgeable, I honestly left feeling I could cook those four dishes competently myself and I'm no cook! I highly recommend this to anyone. Such good fun!

Brilliant time. Niall and Claire both brilliant chefs, surprisingly patient for being chefs tho. Ingredients where so good. Everything was very well organised. Not only the cooking experience but avn the craic and explaining the importance of why how n when of the day. Definitely would advise anyone to go do the experience.

It was honestly so much better than I expected! The team was great in explaining everything really clearly, answering any questions we had and giving invaluable tips. Our pizza skills are to a completely new level now! Also, considering the amount of pizza we ate and then the dough we brought home, it was really good value for money! We'll definitely be back for other classes!
