Birthday Weekend,I traveled to visit my family in MI. My Cousin invited me to this Restaurant located where her boat is docked. I highly anticipated dining here and visiting with family. To start the Parking is decent, as well the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. The wait for a table was approximately 30 minutes. Our Server Juliana was very pleasant and attentive to each table in our section which was the outdoor dining area. The food was palatable, I ordered the Asian salad which was lite and flavorful and consisted of Mandarin orange slices, peanuts, sesame seeds, tortilla strips w/a house made dressing. The Broccoli was steamed with garlic very Flavorful, and honestly the best food on my plate, the Orange Roughy didn't dissapoint nor did it impress, the only love expressed on that plate was by the vegetable chef, hats off to you my friend the Broccoli was done to near perfection. The other guests at the table for my Birthday meal were family visiting from Denver , their dish selections consisted of : Fettuccine Pasta with, Lobster, shrimp and mussells, the sauce which the two that ordered this dish described the alfredo sauce as being "too Sweet." One of our cousins ordered Chicken Piccata, her opinion of her meal mirrors mine , the Broccoli was firing on all cylinders, the chicken was just ok. The Stir-fry meal was described as "pretty good."
The meal I mention last is the "12oz. Tomahawk Grilled Porkchop," the meat was one Heatbeat past squeeling "Oink" on the plate!!!! The cut was very fatty and once cut into, visibly STILL RAW!!!! I personally don't mess with too much pork, but when I do, it's DEFINITELY NOT RAW!!!! After explaining to our server Juliana, she showed the customer service, you'd expect by apologizing 1st, then getting her manager. UNFORTUNATELY this is where our dining experience took a nosedive . Sam "The Manager " perhaps you were having a Personally Bad day, indeed a quite rotten day, that matched your Lack of professionalism in handling the Issue for the Elder at our table!!! You approached with a defensive attitude, despite the fact that you offered to take the meat back to your kitchen and put it back on your Grill. Insead of apologizing for her experience, removing it from her bill, or offering anything else she may have desired, you chose to have a verbal sparring match with guests at the table. When asked your name and if you could provide a business card, you snarked "Sam, my last name is Greek and you wouldn't know how to spell it shouted Im done here," and stormed off. Unacceptable Sam, good thing Juliana showed the courtesy and professionalism of a manager, because clearly you hate your job. Jordan, The second manager to approach our table was personable and rectified the situation by removing the undercooked meal from the bill.
Needless to say, this establishment gets three stars for Juliana, a mention for Jordan, and a Blaring warning for Sam. The menu had several choices, apparently the 6 we made weren't that great. There are plenty of better places to dine in the Metro Detroit area, Watermark Bar & Grill is not one of them and will not be on the suggestion list. It's imperative to read reviews and choose better!
