Restaurants and Cafes Inside of Grocery Stores in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Plenty of African stores and delis line Brooklyn Boulevard in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis, and Waterside Market — named after the biggest market in Monrovia, Liberia — is one of the best. The grocery stocks plentiful plantain chips, fufu flour, palm oil, and frozen fish. At the adjacent Waterside African Kitchen, enjoy flavor-packed dishes like toborgee (Liberian stew), roasted fish, and goat meat soup. The menu rotates daily. It’s worth noting that on Sundays, Waterside serves jollof rice, a West African specialty." - Eater Staff

This taste so horrible... Too much salt and just a waste of money. Imagine you're hungry and decided to grab something to eat at the place you expect to be decent and only to be disappointed, because I could not eat the food.

4 stars for the food and portion BUT 2 stars for the customer service. They speak to you with such belittling tone. Get upset when you ask for what’s available and what’s not. Or they on their phone and not paying attention. If you not the type for customer services… then don’t do it. but good job to the cooks!

This review is about the restaurant side: I ordered benachin rice today, and the food was sour and had a slippery texture. When I noticed the rice looked overly burnt at the store, I mentioned it to the person who served me. He insisted that nothing was wrong and guaranteed it was fine. It seemed like the rice had been reheated for a long time before being served. After taking it home, I realized he had misled me, the rice was indeed sour and slippery. This reflects poor customer service and unprofessional behavior.

If you are missing the "Motherland" or simply craving some of the BEST African food in the area, this is where you have to go! They have a great assortment of freshly cooked meals, all day long! Come buy and enjoy, or pick up to go! They also do Doordash! Fresh made natural juices or drinks from Colas to Malts!!! Come on by!!

I’m from out of town and was really craving Liberian food, so I decided to try this place. I ordered the red oil potato greens, and when I got back to my hotel—35 minutes away—I was extremely disappointed to find there was no meat in the soup, just two small pieces of dried fish. I paid $20 for this dish and expected much better. If I had been closer, I would’ve gone back to address the issue, but unfortunately, that wasn’t an option. My foreign guest, who was excited to try this dish for the first time, was also let down. I won’t be returning.

Typical Liberia in Minnesota, ya'll. You can find all your african goodies at Waterside Market, and the prices are really good 👍. Great shopping experience with their restaurant next door. With Waterside Market, Sun Farmers Market, and Restaurant Depot 4hrs plus drive from me, I can actually survive here, lol 😆😂.

The people here are rude and unpleasant. No one wants to tell you whats being served. You definitely get an unwelcoming vibe. I just walked out not going to support where I'm not wanted.

Best librarian African dishes ever, good variety of foods. Go shopping there for my meats and seasonings to cook!
