Yelp
I love finding new places to eat. I have been to some really great places and had some tasty bites all over. However, it is not often that a place feels perfect. Waverly Kitchen & Bar did. On a quiet street in Charlestown sits, what might be, the quintessential classy neighborhood restaurant. I knew reservations were recommended so I waited for a spot at the bar after the hostesses greeted me and briefed me on my options. I was happy to wait. The energy was amazing and people were clearly loving their food. I started with the Parker House rolls, a great take on a classic. They are not large, the portions here are not large, they are just right. The rolls were warm, delicious, and I love the addition of sesame seeds that were perfectly toasted on top. Next it was steak frites, a 6oz steak with a house-made steak sauce and a rosemary hollandaise. Yum, yum. The frites were dynamite too and the watercress salad was a pleasant balance. I finished with the Affogato. Fabulous, buttery, the perfect finish. As much as I loved the food, the people were better. Both hostesses, who also ran food, the bar staff, especially the young man working there, were kind and engaging and made you feel welcomed. It wasn't just really good service it was welcoming! This place is beautiful, intimate, and someplace I cannot wait to revisit. Next time I'll make sure I have a reservation because there are more reasons than I can count for people to go back and keep it packed. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. There were multiple things on the menu I would go back to try. Run, don't walk, to Waverly Kitchen & Bar.
