Yayyyyyyyyy i'm ecstatic to announce that as far as the foodie culture is concerned...the holidays have officially arrived! The coffee shops, the restaurants, and even the gas stations are chocked full of goodies infused with pumpkin spice, peppermint, gingerbread, eggnog, you name it. Wawa is no exception, and in a very big way! It's open 24/7, and any time of day or night you can get your food or drinks prepped to order, which is a huge plus for someone that works odd hours like me. Breakfast bowl and a latte? You got it. Club Sandwich and Chicken Noodle Soup? Anytime. This location is my go-to, since it's right down the street from my house, and very convenient.
I'm big on Holiday sandwiches. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, no matter what time of day, I'm a fan. To me, the Thanksgiving leftover sandwich is one of the greatest inventions in all of foodiedom. That being said, The Hot Gobbler has fast become a guilty pleasure of mine at least 3 times a week since it started. Now there's three kinds..turkey, gravy, and stuffing, and turkey gravy with either mashed or sweet potato. My personal fave is the sweet potato. I get the 6-inch shortie sub, and add melty provolone cheese to it. It comes with a drizzle of Garlic Ailoli, which gives a bright pop of flavor to the already perfect sandwich. Yes, it's messy, but well worth it, just grab a handful of napkins and you're set. I've also tried the French Toast with Maple Donut, and while the flavor was all there, I wish it would have been a little softer. It kind of had a "Day Old" texture to it.
I've yet to dive into their holiday drink menu, but trust me, it's on the "to do" list. With it's growing popularity, Wawa seems to be expanding quite rapidly with locations opening up throughout Jacksonville, so kudos to them! The peeps are friendly, especially in the mornings when the deli counter is busy with hungry patrons, and the store is consistently clean day and night.
Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, thanks for reading, and as always...SYOY!
