Yelp
Stay away from this location. Unfortunately, like Georgetown, this Wawa is pretty shitty. However, between the two this one is worse. Wawa has some problems as a company but the biggest issues are amplified by the horrible staff in Tenleytown. There are maybe 3 good employees. The others, with a few in particular, are - racist, incompetent, rude, lazy, dishonest, and worst of all scamming.
A FEW Examples:
Racist - one staffer literally confused two males, presumably because they both had some asian features. One male was around 5'11"-6' 160lbs (guessing), wearing a red jacket and jeans and the other was 5' 8"ish maybe 200lbs and wearing black. They looked completely different, body shape, size and clothes, and even their faces and hair were very different. And she legit acted like they were the same person, non-sarcastically (not that it would be okay if it was sarcastic).
Incompetent - one staffer could not operate the register, they said they didn't know how to operate the register, and they refused to provide service because of it. Their literal words, "I don't know how to do that, so we can't do that today."
Rude - staffers will consistently tell customers to not bother them - when asking for basic things - like to check out etc. and tell them off, sometimes cursing. No words.
Lazy - it might be a shocker here, but often the staff do not work at their stations or refuse to do their job because they are talking on their cellphone, watching something on their cellphone or texting. Most of these examples also highlight others, like the employees who just refused service cause they didn't want to put in the effort of figuring out what they didn't know how to do or getting someone else who did.
Dishonest - several staffers have repeatedly lied about Wawa policies and DC law, unclear as to why, but nonetheless unacceptable.
Scamming - this is the final kicker, and to me what floored me the most, I have seen at least two of the staffers try to scam customers, at first I sort of brushed it off, I usually noticed them doing a weird run around with charges at checkout etc, but later I noticed when one of them said someone had to pay cash they pocketed the cash when the person walked away. Now maybe they later put it in the register, and what they made them pay was their actual bill, but I doubt it. This is the reason why I am even bothering to write this and also to report them to relevant authorities. Hopefully people see this and avoid going and this doesn't happen to anymore people. Or hopefully Wawa management or authorities step in and stop this.
So again, avoid like the plague.
