"A combination record shop and cocktail lounge called Wax Bar opened in Ypsilanti in the second half of 2020. The shop is currently accepting orders for to-go cocktails and sells records online. Status: Certified open." - Brenna Houck

Fantastic spot for chill cocktail! Atmosphere is wonderful and relaxing for a drink in the evening! People are fantastic, ask Andy for a cocktail-will sling you a new favorite!

Cocktail (Old Fashioned) was delicious. Smaller craft beer selection but, nice variety. Chill atmosphere and really cool, old beer signs.

Haven't been in here for a very very long time, since before it was Wax and that was big mistake! This place is great. The vibe is comfortable and inviting, the bartenders are skilled and pleasant, and it was clean. I will for sure be back and will be recommending to friends!

$14 cocktails during happy hour you get $2 off cocktails. Very creative cocktails but slightly over priced. A few beer options and wine. Staff are very kind and welcoming! The bar sells vinyl and has comfy seat options. No food sold here

Google
Great cocktails, great service, great vibe. My only complaint are the cocktail prices, which aren't listed on the board - $14 for a menu of basic classic cocktails in Ypsi is... bold. I'll definitely be back for special occasions, though.

I had a wonderful first-time experience here today. I love the concept: Craft cocktails + vinyl record shop. The signature craft cocktails are exquisitely made, and as of November 2020, most appear to be of the tiki variety. Be sure to check out the chalkboard for special drinks not in the standard menu. My favorite was served in a coconut milk can, and it’s called a Bali Hai... lots of tropical flavors and yet, quite boozy, but well balanced. I thought the house-made popcorn varieties were delicious. The ambiance is nice, and we were able to sit outdoors on a 70 degree afternoon in November. You can’t beat that. Next time I’ll grab an ice cream cocktail. Check it out, you’ll love it.

In from out of town. Drinks were great and the owner was kind and welcoming. There appeared to be plenty of regulars, which was another indication of the great vibe~

Google
Wax bar rides the line between dive bar and classy bar In a really weird and wonderful way. Despite loving cocktails I would say that it's not often I get one and am truly wowed by it, but all the drinks I tried last night were outstanding. Probably the best bar I've been to in a long time, and I'll definitely be back. I highly recommend their paper plane, nothing novel, but expertly prepared.

Yelp
The Wax Bar appears to have changed ownership. No do they feature vinyl sales and playing vinyl. In place of the vinyl wall, they have placed 5 more tables. The vibes of this bar has changed from a laid back cocktail bar to more of a loud elevated dive/neighborhood bar. It is louder since more people are packed in the small space. With no printed menu, the chalkboard should use bright chalk that you could read in low light. Despite the changes, the drinks were still good. That said, it is not the same place that I loved. Wish new owners good luck. Look forward soon to the new vinyl bar opening up on Michigan Ave at former red rock bbq place.

Yelp
Andy is always worth a visit. Very welcoming and a fun conversation. Drink menu is above the norm.

Yelp
Still awesome, love this place. Come and have a drink...or two and enjoy the vinyls! The drinks are developed and mixed by the owner and are amazing!! These cocktails are probably THE BEST DRINKS we've EVER had. I can't say enough about this understated bar. Ps the Old Fashioned is a favorite. We cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
This place is hands down the best bar in yipsy or canton! Awesome creative drinks made by the master himself (owner tends the bar with his wife so you know they care about their product). The records are gone but a great chill place to hangout. The music is top notch! I heard a city pop song believe it or not, so I consider this place on the cutting edge of cool for a millennial like me.

Yelp
It took me a while to warm up to Wax Bar because Ollie was my favorite, but what's not to love. Super cool atmosphere, great selection of cocktails and vinyl, and a decent happy hour. They have recently added bar snacks to the menu which is a nice addition!

Yelp
After losing an Ypsi favorite "Ollie" during the pandemic, I was eager to check out the newest concept by the same owner. Located in the neighboring space, Wax Bar combines a vinyl record store with a craft cocktail bar, creating the ideal space to relax to some good tunes with a drink in hand. I headed out recently on their first day after the soft opening. It was a brilliantly sunny afternoon, and Cross Street was still blocked off to vehicle traffic, allowing for plenty of outdoor seating as the weather permits. It's happy hour from 4-6 on weekdays, so I was able to enjoy a great drink at an even better price point. We grabbed our glasses of wine, toasted to the new beginnings in one of our favorite cities, and sat in the expanded seating outside to savor the summer day. It's a place I'll be returning to while the weather is nice, and hopefully have a safe and cozy spot when it gets chilly again!

Yelp
New owner. Very much needed. Better hours. Good cocktails. Priced fair. Eclectic crowd.

Yelp
Made a new account for this but I was in there a couple of days ago with some people and the service we received was questionable. Apart from the fact the girl bartender who worked there was the exact opposite of something you'd expect from someone working the hospitality business to be the refusal for a glass of water was the tip of the iceberg. After cashing out a 250$ tab, two of us weren't feeling good so we went in to get a glass of water and were just out right refused even though both bartenders and some customers were in there (and we cashed out maybe 5 mins prior). Definitely will not be going back there again!

Yelp
Affordable mini vacation. It was right to the point- tiki drinks and records. The drinks were between $10-14 and it was definitely worth every penny. Fresh garnishes, fun flavors without the cheesy decor. My only complaint would be the limited seating and that most of the seating was high stools, I have back problems so sometimes this format is not friendly for me personally. Recommend for 1-3 people in your party. Clean bathroom and central to other bars and restaurants. Parking is close, about a 3 min walk (behind the buildings across the street).

Yelp
Drinks and ambiance all about quality and fun delivered together! Retro furnishings, great music and flower-garnished drinkies.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Great vibe, friendly staff, great place to be I ended up having a traditional beer and drinks. I did share a handcrafted cocktail with my wife, which was very unique. This is definitely the place you want to go if you want to try a drink you never had before Time will tell to see if they are earth changing, adding, or subtracting. They did have two specials that day, and I imagine if you'd like one of their specials, you would be able to order it again Will make this part of my regular rotation, at least once a month, prior to going out to dinner with my wife

Yelp
Easily the best spot to hang out in all of Ann Arbor/Ypsi! Thoughtful, delicious drinks, plus you're surrounded by hundreds of records and just the best music. We happened to be there on a Saturday evening so we started inside with the record jams and then moved to their outdoor patio to catch the live music outside. 10/10

Macy W.

Yelp
Very cool setup; bar on one side and records on the other. They had a nice selection of both drinks and records!

Richard R.

Yelp
Their tropical cocktails are so good. Tropical cocktails are hard to make since they require many ingredients but this place hits it on the spot.

Nick L.

Yelp
This is the perfect bar. Records, fantastic tiki drinks, and a great vibe. What more could you want!? If I lived here I'd be here weekly!

Rachel B.

Yelp
Came here last night to check out this new/updated spot. Ordered our drinks inside. Lots of good ones to choose from and can flip through records while waiting for them to craft the cocktails. Service was friendly. Brought our drinks outside to sit on the patio. The ice cream dranks are very tasty and can't wait to try them all.

Danya Y.

Yelp
Wax Bar has done an excellent job at creating a drink list that can cater to anyone's taste buds! The drinks are really well made and thought out. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Depot Town. (The vinyl records on display and for sale are a plus!)

Benjamin N.

Yelp
Some of the best cocktails that I've ever had. I have gone a few times and both of the bartenders that I met have done an excellent job. They make drinks so nice looking that I feel bad drinking them.

Chris S.

Yelp
A really cool concept. I'm happy a chanced on this place. Friendly bar in a hopping, trendy neighborhood. Prices were decent. I had a bottle of beer with an Evan Williams chaser for $6 and then I got to browse their curated selection of used vinyl. It's not the biggest selection in the area, but it was enough to keep me interested. Check it out!

Kristie C.

Yelp
Every time I get the chance I will go. Great environment, great people, friendly, welcoming, incredible drinks (the old fashioned is an all time favorite). If someone was coming to visit from out of town I would take them here because I have never once had a bad experience.

Rachael Z.

Yelp
Super groovy setting, cozy AF, dope happy hour cocktails, beautiful art and vintage furniture.

Audrey V.

Yelp
We checked out Wax Bar this past weekend, and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is really fun and unique. The drinks were delicious and truly a piece of art. For only $12 each, it really felt like we were at the beach with these drinks! Excited to have Wax Bar in our backyard and will absolutely be visiting again.

Katie M.

Yelp
This is the coolest bar in town. The owners are genuinely great people and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
