A great national park for education, especially to know more personally about the sumatra elephant. the facility could be improved more, such as prayer room and toilets

Visited Way Kambas National Park few days ago. It seems like they were not ready for reopening…. The rp 50k entrance fee was reasonable. We had to park at designated parking lot and took the shuttle car. The waiting time for shuttle was long… more than 30 mins wait. We tried trekking activity that costs rp 150k per person. It felt impromptu. No designated path or trail, but was enjoyable nonetheless. However, seeing elephants in chains was quite sad and hopefully they will work on letting them roam free in the future. There’s a ton to be improved: 1. Upgrading facilities to provide a more comfortable and educational experience. Toilets didn’t have light, facilities was run down… Put clear signage of where to wait for shuttle car to go back. There were a few that passed and they said it was going to other parking lots… 2. Implementing proper treks and activities 3. Transitioning to more humane practices for wildlife interactions, moving away from chains. 4. Offering structured educational briefings to visitors, highlighting conservation efforts and goals. With these improvements, I'm hopeful that Way Kambas can fulfill its potential and become a leading example of sustainable wildlife tourism

I was appalled by the treatment of the Elephants I saw at the so-called Elephant "Conservation" Center. It seems the practices used here have not changed since the 70's when elephants were used to transport timber during deforestation of the region. I saw small elephants being whipped and beaten, the mahouts carry metal spiked batons that are used to hit Elephants on the head so to subdue them into submission. In addition, all of the elephants are chained and not free to roam. There is no attempt to reintegrate these 'problem' elephants back into the wild and as the posters in the visitor center clearly stated, they are used for touristic purposes. I will certainly not visit this place again.

This time, in Way Kambas area, we were just exploring the conservation forest and by boat paddling along the river and the view even more beautiful when we were pddling back to the cottage. But we need the approval of the officer and rangers when we want to come this conservation area; moreover when we want to stay overnight here. The area is safe, because the rangers will guard you. The serenity and the calmness of the nature makes you feel peace and do not want to go back to the crowded of your work place :)

park waykambas and elephant burning at the end of the Lampung region. it is recommended to come here around from 9-14 because it passes from that hour already closed and the elephant is resting so it's not usual to satisfy playing with elephants, for prayer, there is a toilet. and do not miss the place to eat also there are also many souvenirs guaranteed cheap. recommendation not to bring a motorbike because all the way to the Waykambas tourist park there are a lot of wild monkeys so be careful ✨

Not only elephants which live there, also there are tigers, rhinoceros, boar, and another animals. If you want ride the elephants u just pay 2$/person (Rp 20.000) for 1x ride, also you can see the performance of elephants around 10.00 AM and 12.30 PM just pay 2$/person to saw elephant do some great tricks.
