My visit to Wayan was a memorable experience overall, with some clear highlights and a few limitations worth noting.
First, the ambiance is absolutely stunning—both inside and out. The space feels warm, intimate, and effortlessly chic, making it a perfect fit for Aspen’s elevated yet relaxed vibe. It’s exactly the kind of restaurant you’d want for a cozy date night after a day on the slopes.
Unfortunately, dinner reservations were fully booked, so I stopped in for an early lunch instead. While I was grateful to get in, the lunch menu was extremely limited, and several items—most notably the oysters—were already sold out, which was disappointing. Additionally, there is only one shared, gender-neutral bathroom in the restaurant, and I did have to wait a bit to use it.
That said, the service was genuinely excellent. The staff was attentive and professional, and the chef even came out personally to apologize for the items that were unavailable, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch.
Overall, it was still a great experience, largely because of the ambiance and service. That said, I would absolutely want to return for dinner, as I suspect that’s when Wayan truly shines and offers the full culinary experience beyond the limited lunch menu.
