A good effort apparently but not so exciting. The building and surrounding garden is good. Exhibits are of historical importance. A good guiding experience for children. It is helpful if visual tour is provided. The evolution of fishing of the area. The vessels used for fishing, storing, cleaning, removing the hard shell and finally cooking. A place is devoted for displaying stone sculpture and Gods. The displaced Hindu God found a place here.

A Small Gem Packed with Local History! Don't let the size fool you—the Wayanad Heritage Museum is an absolute delight. We visited without huge expectations and were so pleasantly surprised by this compact yet incredibly rich museum. It's the perfect place to spend an hour or two immersing yourself in the authentic culture of Wayanad. The collection is thoughtfully curated, featuring fascinating tribal artifacts, ancient farming tools, traditional Keralan weapons, and intricate models of local dwellings. Each exhibit tells a story of the region's indigenous communities and their way of life. What makes it special is that because it's small, you can truly appreciate every item without feeling overwhelmed. The information is concise and informative, making it easy to absorb the history. It’s a quiet, peaceful escape from the busier tourist spots. This museum is a must-visit for anyone wanting to understand the soul of Wayanad beyond its natural beauty. It’s a humble, well-maintained space that punches well above its weight. Highly recommended for families, couples, and solo travelers looking for a meaningful cultural experience.

Wayanad Heritage Museum: A Glimpse into a Rich Past The Wayanad Heritage Museum in Ambalavayal offers a fascinating journey into the region's rich history, tribal culture, and archaeological treasures. While not the largest museum, its well-preserved artifacts and informative displays provide valuable insights into Wayanad's unique heritage. The museum houses a diverse collection of relics, including ancient tools, pottery, sculptures, and jewelry, some dating back to the Neolithic and Mesolithic ages. These artifacts offer tangible evidence of early human settlements in the Wayanad hills. A significant portion of the museum is dedicated to showcasing the life, culture, and traditions of Wayanad's indigenous tribal communities. Displays include traditional clothing, musical instruments, hunting tools, and agricultural implements, providing a deeper understanding of their unique way of life. This section vividly recreates aspects of tribal life, offering a more immersive experience and highlighting the intricate connection between the tribes and their environment. The exhibits featuring Stone Age carvings ("Smrithy Silakal") are particularly noteworthy, showcasing unique burial practices and artistic expressions of the past The museum is generally well-maintained and the artifacts are thoughtfully displayed . The Wayanad Heritage Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in understanding the historical roots and cultural tapestry of the Wayanad region. Its collection of ancient artifacts and insights into tribal life provide a valuable and enriching experience. While compact, it offers a compelling glimpse into the past and underscores the importance of preserving Wayanad's unique heritage. It's a worthwhile stop for history buffs and those seeking a deeper connection with the land and its people. NEAT AND CLEAN small museum 🖼️. Parking is on the road. Toilet facilities available.

Nice museum to visit in waynad. Has a lot of old cultural and archeological items with well labeled details of each item. It would take around 30mins and the ticket fee is rupees thirty per person. The area surrounding the museum is also well maintained.

Very poorly maintained museum with excellent heritage monuments unguarded; could not see a single cc camera in the premises of the museum. Artefacts are not safe guarded properly and could be easily stolen or damaged by the visitors. The entry to exit is a maze like route which is well planned but needs a lot of care. Hope the authorities take into consideration and improve the safety of the vast items which is very important to the next generation to learn and understand.

I visited Heritage Museum on a weekday with my spouse. There was less crowd so it was so quick to get tickets and enter the premises. Price is INR 30 per person. We have to remove our footwears outside the museum gate. Very beautiful, clean premises having details of everything in both English and local language. Track of exploring the museum is well defined using arrows. We parked our car outside the museum gate and paid no parking charge. It took us ~30 minutes to exit the museum gate.

Nice small museum with historical stones, sculptures, pottery, tribal jewellery, kitchen items from Waynad district. A few from 2500BC. But mostly from medieval period. Two floors, 4 rooms. It would take you 10 to 20 mins to see exhibits. Toilets available. Tickets 30 rs for adults and 15 ₹ for under 12 and senior citizens.
