Where to Find New Orleans’s Best Chicken Wings

"Up Canal Street, between Basin Street and I-10, We Dat’s is a friendly spot where you can order fresh, hot, fried wings in flavors like ranch, sweet heat, and lemon pepper, and get them topped with cheese, jalapeños, ranch, and bacon, at a buck a topping. The New Orleans-themed wall murals are a bonus." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

Google
This place was awesome and a very safe walk from the French quarter. The employee was great he alerted me to a better value with more food meal versus what I was originally ordering. The atmosphere is fantastic, great art of various New Orleans athletes and people. Food was delicious and we will go back for sure.

Google
Was looking for a bite to eat before the Primus show at the Saenger and luckily this place was open. Everything was juicy and freshly cooked but the chicken kinda needs a sauce cuz it's not very well seasoned on its own

Art Without Fear

Google
Went to the one @ Riverwalk. I love the atmosphere here - wasn’t a fan of my wings being so “wet/fatty” but overall great experience!

Tihira L.

Google
The location didn’t have working air conditioning nor any ice for the drinks during my visit. The staff tried to accommodate within their means but overall I was disappointed with the food. My wings were small and fried really hard. The ghetto punch was sweet but good, would have been more enjoyable with ice.

Google
Food was great atmosphere was OK! Service and attitudes were definitely a no go. We came to visit the city of New Orleans from Opelousas as we had never been here. They definitely did not make us feel welcome Snobby attitude and then they do not allow refills! What dine in restaurant does not allow drink refills? I know that if I come to New Orleans again to avoid this restaurant.

Google
I’ve eaten here before, on my first visit to the city. I was so in love with the food that I came twice during the visit. I came back this time and brought a friend only for them to charge us for food we didn’t even receive because they didn’t communicate between the kitchen and counter staff. We ordered the special, Chicken, fish, cornbread and Fries. We paid only then for us to be told they had no fish. They gave us a small order of shrimp, then told us there’s not cornbread. They didn’t supply us with a substitute. The wings are MUCH smaller this time (not very meaty), fries weren’t seasoned, and neither were the shrimp. (They apparently were out of the seasoning as well.) This just wasn’t a good experience overall.

Google
Great tasting food full of flavor. We tried the chicken wings with their special sauce and fries and also the shrimp and fries. Got the pink and regular lemonade which they call the ghetto juice when mixed together. It's really good. Also purchased some praline from them. It was good as well. Great stop if you come to New Orleans

Google
Terrible service. Walked in, took 10minutes to order. Dude behind the counter didn't even acknowledge or talk to me only talked to my girlfriend. Unseasoned and tough chicken even though I asked for creole seasoning. The seasoned fries taste like they ripped a Ramen noodle seasoning packet and sprinkled it over. I would've given 5 stars if I was talked to or if the chicken was seasoned. Do not come here. Save your money. So many better options in the area.

Yelp
Decided to try this place and it was really good. When u first walked in it smelled a bit like throw up but I'm assuming it was from the bath room but the floor was a bit sticky as i waited in line briefly. I Placed my order and got it in about 25 mins. I got the Wuzzam wings and lemon pepper wings with fries. The wuzzam wings were a bit spicy but good. Definitely would order again. The lemon pepper wings were a bit too salty. If they cut back on the salt i would order those wings again. The fries were well seasoned . Overall i would order wings again.

Yelp
Still waiting over an hour for a 30 piece and fries..... People who ordered before me were getting in their orders before mine- equally as large. They need to figure out their ticketing system... A bunch of people were getting their smaller orders prioritized..... Kitchen is definitely the issue here.

Yelp
Just lost a customer, I order the teriyaki wings. and they drenched my order with the sauce. When I called to complain June or Jill (I couldn't make out her name) said they needed the plate back, I door dashed for a reason. She then put the phone down and I hung up. Never coming here again.

Yelp
This was our first NOLA restaurant on our trip down for Easter weekend. My husband got the garlic parmesan and wuzza (sp) wings on the lunch special and I got the shrimp and fries. The menu is pretty small so you only have a few choices. I thought the shrimp could've had a bit more flavor, but the seasoned fries with ranch (on the side) definitely hit the spot for me. I also tasted my husband's garlic parmesan sauce for my fries and it was very good! This restaurant has been visited by several celebrities, and it was right across from our hotel, so it was a must stop. You walk in to R&B music, signed jerseys all on the wall, and colorful murals. Our server was extremely friendly and gave us deals on our drinks. If you like wings, fried fish, and shrimp, it's definitely worth stopping in.

Yelp
Wings are always excellent and the Wuzzam sauce is one of their best. Depending on your time of visit you could be in and out or standing in line so it's always best to look at the menu online and order ahead to pickup.

Yelp
Wings were good but seemed really expensive for what we got and considering is a fast food order at counter place. The guy taking orders was not helpful and didn't seem to understand what he was doing nor the food menu. The sign said they offered a teacher discount but he didn't know how to do it. We ordered strips and fries for the kids and specifically said "least spicy" and they order came fully dusted. He took it right back and in just a couple minutes had an order plain for us. So that was good.

Yelp
It was my last night in New Orleans, and I really didn't want any more red beans and rice or gumbo. Checked out yelp and ran across We Dat Chicken. The restaurant was only about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Thankfully, there was no line. We went in and placed our order... even got a military discount. OMG...the wings were amazing! The lemon pepper wings were nice and crispy with a very pronounced lemon pepper flavor. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for great wings.

Yelp
Not super impressed with these guys... We arrived in New Orleans late in the evening and decided to order via Uber Eats. We ordered two orders of wings, an order of fries, some sides of ranch, and two drinks. We received about half of this. We received one order of wings, one order of fries, and one drink. We are very aware this could've been the driver who didn't grab both bags & drinks, so we tried to call the restaurant three times and got sent to voicemail every time. So we put in a second order to get the other items. Tried to call again, got a person this time and the person said they would check on it, then hung up on us. Super frustrating experience service wise. We eventually got our other food (minus the ranch which never came) and to their credit, the wings were tasty with lots of sauce. I liked the bbq ones a lot and the fries were well seasoned. The drinks were a miss for us, we got lemonades and they were waaaaaay too sweet. Didn't taste lemony at all. I'm going three stars because we did ultimately like the food.

Yelp
Fire! We popped in here for our first official meal in NOLA and it did not disappoint. I should've known from walking in that the food was great just by looking at the crowd (place was packed) I decided on the Brow special (catfish and shrimp with fries) with lemon pepper on the fries and ranch on the side and some frozen drink (margarita?). Babyyyy that food was so good. My friend INHALED hers, sis was done before I could get my order lol. We both started with the frozen drink but later got some koolaid mixed into the drink and that was THE mix. The cashier/hostess was so lit, literally the cutest friendliest person we'd met for the day and very patient with with my indecisive behind. The person handling the pickup side was cool as well and kept the going quickly. It's a casual spot with a lot of takeout traffic, but lots of tables as well, very clean, TVs and music playing. All in all, solid recommendation

Yelp
Have fraudulent charges from this establishment and nobody will answer the phone. I have never been to this establishment nor would I ever because my company owns another entity. Yet I have 58 dollars in charges that I did not incur.

Yelp
The ambience is cool you walk in and you see all of the jerseys! Makes it feel special and a tribute to Nola! The service was decent. They messed up our order but tried their best to fix it. Took about 30 minutes. I expected a long wait because it was pretty. The food though was smacking. The wings were delicious. They fell off the bone. Wazzam sauce is like a hot lemon pepper. I got the brow special. Shot out to Anthony Davis. I got my shrimp fried extra hard and got them tossed and some sauce pretty good the cashier recommended. The ghetto punch was good not overly sweet. of rock it was a great experience food definitely hit the spot. We Dat! A must try
google avatar

Cynthia B.

Yelp
Shrimp was bomb and that drink I had was really good as well. I should have asked for crispy chicken but it still was good

Chloe C.

Yelp
smells like shit inside the building but the food good. wings have really good flavor and sauce is good

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stumbled on this place on the way back to our hotel and decided to give it a shot. We tried the 10 wings with fries. We got the wazzum and garlic parmesan. The wings were juicy, saucy and bit spicy. Only downside was that it took a while to place our order and for customers to get their food. Overall, the wings were def memorable on our trip to NOLA.

Yelp
Been here twice on different trips to New Orleans and had great food and service BOTH times! Food is made fresh and delicious. We got ours to go and ate in our rental, and don't pass up a half-gallon frozen hurricane! A+ all the way!

Yelp
We were packing, tipsy and starving . We dats were one of the few places still opened and so we decided to take a stroll to grab our last bite to eat in Nola . Although a fast food restaurant, definitely NOT fast . We waited about 45 mins for our food, ended up making friends who decided they wanted to pay for our meal (happened alot during our trip) The food was really good . The place , it was really packed , and really cramped so when you go just know its a "to go" order . Bbq chicken and fries with bunch of sauce and bacon satisfied my hunger .

Yelp
I have been a customer here multiple times over many years. The food is great but I wasn't pleased with my experience yesterday afternoon. The temperature inside the restaurant was extremely hot. Like smothering hot. The cashier never greeted us, she just looked at us and waited until I spoke on my order. The appearance of the restaurant is not as nice as it used to be. Peeled paint on the seats, dirty floor, and if sitting on the Black seat against the wall, the table is way too low. My drink was extremely flat, tasted horrible. Like I said the food is always great. But some things need to change. Street parking only here. Hopefully I can update this review in the future.

Yelp
I've been here a few times as it was convenient to eat while we were working behind the building. When you get the manager the service is good. The girl with the weave in the front is horrible. She only cares about her phone and talking to dudes. Worst service ever. She don't care at all. 2 times they were out of coke. The food and the sauce is good. Not good enough to earn my business anymore the service is just too bad!!

Yelp
Food was hot, service was good. You ll be pleasantly surprised. Drinks were the n point as well

Yelp
My wife and I visited We Dat on our first evening in New Orleans. I went to Tuskegee for a minute & knew of the owner, so I've been wanting to visit this place since it opened. My first time in New Orleans, our hotel was down the street. The Atmosphere: There are several tables provided inside, if you'd like to eat your meal. In addition, they play good music here. The Service: Probably amongst the worse I've had. When my wife and I arrived, there was only one person in front of us, so we felt that it wouldn't take too long. It took maybe 20-25 minutes JUST for us to order. Talk about waiting patiently. This lady was staring at us in our eyes, with an attitude, as she was on the phone taking her sweet time. At this point, the line is out of the door by the time we got the chance to order. THEN, we had to wait on the food to be prepared, which took about another 20-25 minutes. Overall, we spent about a hour in this place, JUST TO GET FOOD. We didn't even eat in. Service is amongst the worse. The Food: I ordered the Shrimp Wrap w/ fries and my wife had wings & fries. The wings were TRASH! Horrible! No crisp whatsoever and the flavor wasn't good. My shrimp wrap was decent, wet as ever, but decent. Overall, I think I'm good on We Dat. I was definitely disappointed, as I had been wanting to try this place for such a long time. If I return to NO, I doubt I'll be returning to We Dat.

Paris B.

Yelp
Horrible service!!!, horrible food! Wait time was insane and they also never ever ever pick up the phone what so ever! (Throw the phone away if your not going to answer it!) if I could give zero stars I would
google avatar

Yelp
This place is ok. On Tuesdays, they have a 75cent wing special, so I decided to check it out. I went during lunch and there was no wait at all. The people working the counter were super friendly which is mainly why I gave it 4 stars. My food came out in about 10 minutes and everything was hot and fresh. I ordered 5 wings mild and 5 wings garlic parmesan. I also ordered a side of seasoned fries. Overall, the flavors were good. They were a little heavy on the sauce though. Because of that, since everything was in the same container, some of my wings were mixed with both sauces. Also, like half my fries were drenched in sauce. It wasn't bad, but it just made my meal feel super heavy. Next time, I'll probably get one dry seasoning and one wet. I think the interior looks really cool. They have awesome illustrations on the walls. The only downside was that the restaurant smelled a little funny. Next time, I'll probably take my order to go than sit inside. Other than that, I think they have great chicken wings and worth a try.

Yelp
After traveling all day, I arrived to my hotel room tired and hungry. Solo travel with after 9 pm arrival makes for a very cautious experience. Instead of exploring my surroundings I opted for We Dat's Chicken and Shrimp via "Uber Eats". I ordered the 10 piece chicken wings (5 wuzzam, 5 sweet heat) 1 piece of catfish as an add-on and a fountain sprite. My order arrived in a timely fashion, however it may have been too timely I'm guessing since they forgot to include my Catfish. The wing platter looked phenomenal, the well bags were extra saucy (like I like) I was disappointed in the fact that they sent me all drums as that was not a "request." Honestly I prefer "flats" and they had an option for only "drums" or only "flats" for $1.00 more (very reasonable pricing) however I opted for mixed combo which I did not get. Honestly the wings were really good. I enjoyed the kick of the Wuzzam wings while the sweet richness of Sweet Heat did not go unnoticed. The fries were fries they were unseasoned and unsalted but I did request jalapeños to which they obliged. The sprite was flat and watered down which was a let down given the fact that I was extremely thirsty. The wings were good although my takeout/ delivery experience was not. To be fair I've given them 3 stars as I'm unsure how I would feel had I gone in to have a real dining experience. 2 stars were deducted for forgetting my catfish and for only drums

Yelp
Was disappointed with the food. I'm a Louisiana native and was down here trying to enjoy catfish and shrimp. They didn't provide any sauces and the fish was seasoned poorly. This is not a true indication of what Louisiana food is supposed to be. They also did not answer the phone when I called. The service was poor.

Brit T.

Yelp
the food was good but the light skin girl at the counter with no edges had terrible customer service! she don't even deserve the $7.25 an hour she's making.
google avatar

Shaunie W.

Yelp
The place was empty. It has a mildew kind of smell. It was clean however. The guy at the cash register was polite. The food was mediocre at best. I had the garlic parm wings with fries and he had the Brows Special (catfish, shrimp and fries) the fries were WAYYYYYYY undercooked, very soggy and no flavor. Actually, nothing we ordered had any flavor to it. The catfish was crispy and probably the best thing we had next to our drinks.
google avatar

Don D.

Yelp
This is my first day in New Orleans and I found them on TikTok. I ordered the wuzzam chicken and cheese and ranch fries and they were BOMB! I absolutely recommend getting that but try the other flavors too. The customer service was really good and our food came quick. They do have some tables available to sit.
google avatar

Devaneé T.

Yelp
Looking for hearty food and a vibe? This is your go to! Friendly staff. Quick service! Fast food Ambiance!
google avatar

Janet S.

Yelp
I found this place on our trip to NOLA during Mardi Gras season. It's a popular spot for local and tourists alike. The wings were seasoned perfectly, but the shrimp was the star by far! They use their own signature seasoning, and it was hands down the best I've had anywhere. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was great! The walls were covered with art

Red R.

Yelp
Food was very disappointing. First time here got two of the double doubles. Wings was over cooked to the point the bone was black with no meat on it. The lemon pepper wings had so much seasoning you couldn't eat them. The shrimp was good tho. But asked to add cheese to the fries like the picture but instead of melted cheese it was just shredded cheeses and you couldn't tell there was any on there. The drinks had no carbonation. The inside smelled like meldew threw out the whole building. The lemonade container was so nasty looking and so dirty. The bathrooms where nasty. I would never come back.
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
The food was good, I got the fish and fries and the seasoning had me at awe. Though there was a lot of it, I don't think you can have too much seasoning. I'm glad the owner gave us his story. It was very interesting how he started considering that it was just opportunity and he took it. I'm glad I got experience this. 5 out of 5 review!
google avatar

LaToya L.

Yelp
We visited We Dat's for a quick lunch. The cashier was nice and friendly. We ordered wings in wizzam sauce with fries. We got our order shortly after ordering and the food was hot and fresh. I loved the wizzam sauce and the crispy fries. The restrooms had no paper towels and the floors were slippery. That's why only gave them 4 stars.
google avatar

Alejandro S.

Yelp
I'm not a big wings guy but these were solid. I enjoyed my meal. Next time I would get the covered fries and also not order the sweet heat. There's no real sweet to the taste but you can definitely taste the heat. Which is fine but don't put sweet in the name if there's sweet to the taste, ya know? Other than that, this made for a solid lunch and I was full off of the 6 piece.

Krystal C.

Yelp
If I could give this particular location zero stars I would. The cashier (a black man with glasses on) was very disrespectful to my family and I. We placed our order through Uber Eats and once we got in to pick it up we waited over two hours for a TO-GO ORDER just for him to tell us he never got it. Then I noticed the money still came off my card afterwards and he just didn't feel like making the order to begin with. DO NOT MAKE AN UBER EATS ORDER AT THE CANAL LOCATION ITS A SCAM!!! Side note: While I was waiting on my order he was also previously screaming at this older man in front of his wife (whom also made a to go order) and threatened to go outside and fight him.
google avatar

Dominic D.

Yelp
Food was good and so was the service. The ambiance was also amazing, loved all the art on the wall. The only problem was how long it took to get through the line. It wasn't too bad but slower than usual. Other than that though it was great!
google avatar

Peyton F.

Yelp
Had to wait an hour, but the food is tasty. I really like the loaded fries & the fruit punch. All of my friends enjoyed their wings.
google avatar

Jovan W.

Yelp
The customer service this go around wasn't so pleasant today. I've been to this place on numerous occasions but this time was a great one
google avatar

Solange T.

Yelp
I found this place, when I was looking for a late night snack land wow and I glad I did! Great chicken! Love this place!!
google avatar

Chloe W.

Yelp
I tried the wuzzam wings all flats and seasoned French fries. They were tasty, nice and hot (but not so much that you couldn't enjoy) it was just right. The wait time was 15 minutes tops. The waiter was great. He let me try different daiquiris and gave me solid suggestions. I would recommend this place to everyone. The wall art was a nice touch as well
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Food here is really good. Served fresh and hot. They have a lunch meal for $8.99 which is a really good price for 6 wings, fries and a drink.

Karena J.

Yelp
I'm so hurt. The first visit to NO, I wasn't able to stop by for food. Back again and this time I made sure to order. I paid $33.00, because I used uber eats. Food timing was great. However, I didn't receive choices for dipping sauce. That let me down. The pepper on the wings trumps all. That's a huge no!!! Gross, I had to wipe them off to eat. The fries were not cooked all the way. The chicken is the cheap, small wings that come in bulk. I'm so sad, but I have been waiting so long to support. It's a no for me.
google avatar

Toni H.

Yelp
I was so sick after eating here. The lemon pepper chicken was not seasoned well & the shrimp were not cooked well. Use caution.
google avatar

Erika A.

Yelp
This was a nice experience. The lady taking our order was very friendly and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. There were only about four other patrons inside while there. The building was clean. The food was very fresh and the wings were saucy. A tad bit too much sauce for my taste, but not bad. The fries were good too, but I would lay off of the ranch next time and just keep it simple. Overall, the wings were okay and if you're hungry this might be an option.
google avatar

Regina H.

Yelp
Very basic and even odd tasting food and all I had were tenders and fries. It's a no go me
google avatar

Ebony J.

Yelp
The plus side is that this place makes their food fresh so it comes out hot and was soooo good !! Not a fan of the inside it was very crowded and not much seating for people trying to eat their food plus foot traffic of people from doordash picking up their orders and groups waiting for their order. Our order took 45 mins to come out! However they appeared to be very short staffed so it is what it is. I'll take the wait because the food was so worth it! However the Frozen Cocktails aren't strong and honestly just taste like flavored juice... not a fan of the frozen cocktails but the food is reasonably priced and delicious! Just go on the earlier side of the evening if you don't want to have to wait 45 mins for your food... this was a theme of long wait times for people who arrived before and after us and it was a Friday night so pretty busy

Bee F.

Yelp
Went there late night for some wuzzam wings 10/10. The service was quick didn't wait in line long. Also used the self checkout
google avatar

Deedee M.

Yelp
Came here late night this weekend on a whim while on vacation. There were quite a few people inside waiting on orders and even more picking up orders for other people. I ordered the brows special & the fish was cooked perfectly but the shrimp was over cooked. I added cheese to the fries and they were good, but they put the fish right on top, so all of the breading from the fish was left on the fries. They do give plenty tartar and hot sauce but they do ask you exactly how many you want, which was weird lol. Ordered a daiquiri as well but I don't remember the name (it was red) but it taste like juice. Would come back again, and opt for an extra shot in the daiquiri if that's an option. Or add my own lol
google avatar

Mae D.

Yelp
Delicious wings & fries in NOLA. Just make sure you stop here when you're in town. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Kiara M.

Yelp
Perfect location this wings and seafood restaurants was right across the street from us and I must say had some of the best wings I ever had . Started with the amazing art work that was on the walls that portrayed the rich New Orleans culture with rappers and also the professional athletes that give back within the community . As for the food it was amazing I ordered a 10 piece signature we dat wazzam sauce , not sure what the flavor is but it gave a nice sweet and spicy feel but meaty wings that was served with ranch and blue cheese as for the fries they are seasoned to perfection didn't need any dipping sauce they have house blends that you can also purchase so you can enjoy the amazing flavors at home , next we got the catfish it was only 2 pieces but they were huge seasoned just right . Wish I would have went a couple more times because after I wanted to try everything on the menu because it was great.

Lydia S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! It's definitely the best bang for your buck in the area and it never disappoints. Everything from the wings to the fish to the gallon sized daiquiri for only $20 this place is legit!!
