A-OK!.....PIZZA AT IT'S BEST!!
This new pizzeria, is just a block away from the new Ballston Quarter and is a great addition to the food offerings of this area. Pizza, Beer, Garlic Knots, Wings, Salads & Hand-Crafted Sodas are the main fare.
If you like a crispy base crust on your pizza you have come to the right place. This was my first experience at this location, but I've been to both the Capitol Hill and Crystal City location. This one is on par with the others and the pizzas are good. If you are a meat lover, try the Butchers Block pizza, it's my favorite and pure heaven!
The same is true for the pepperoni pie. The wide, thin medallions of pepperoni meat have an intense spiciness and the oregano-accented sauce pairs well with the crust. The We, Supreme falls in line as my next favorites.
The vibe is cool and the pizza options are delicious--but I must admit they are your typical standard pizzas; nothing out of the ordinary toppings wise. I say this to not slight "We, The Pizza" because the food is damn good. I just wish they would come up with more unique offerings than your standard pepperoni, Pizza Hut supreme-like, buffalo chicken, margherita & spinach type pizzas you can find anywhere. These pizzas have been on their menu and in the rotation of their pies since Spike Mendelsohn (the guy from Top Chef - Season 4...I believe), opened the first location in Capital Hill....over 10 years ago!
With that being said, I've tried most of them and they are all bonafide legit. The toppings are tasty, the sauce is okay....but the crust is what does it for me! It has a toasty, crispy-crunchy, chewy bite to it that sets these standard pies (even the typical-traditional ones) apart from other pizzeria places around the area.
The price though is a little steep with two slices running you near $10 bucks; where as a whole medium pie $20 and the large pizza coming in at $22. My lunch consisting of two slices & a medium drink cost $12 bucks! Yikes!! Not bad, but definitely not the cheapest lunch option either when you can get a whole pizza & liter soda for $10 bucks or less at competitors around the DMV.
In all though, I would say it is worth it and you can't go wrong eating here overall. Price is a relative factor and in "We, the America" like most things, it's your choice to accept it or go somewhere else with regards to the price point. Otherwise... It's fast, quick and delicious...what more do you need. It's not a bargain deal lunch/dinner spot...but, it hits the spot!!
In my opinion, despite the price per slice...hence not giving 5 Stars, I will say "We, The Pizza" is probably one of the best quality pizza options and places around the Ballston/Arlington area for a quick bite."
