"While many breweries serve bar bites or pub food, Wedge Brewing Company is popular for its food trucks parked outside. Set inside a 19th-century storehouse, Wedge maintains its industrial-chic vibe throughout its interior and tool-welded decor. Order a 13 Paces porter from the chalkboard and take a seat in a plastic middle-school chair on the patio." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Wedge Brewing Company in the River Arts District is totally worth the visit! It has a relaxed atmosphere! And the beer selection is great! They make the beer right there in the building, so you can’t get more local!

Don Twardowski

Google
Fun atmosphere. Good beer selections. Love the welded metal wall.

Anndria Thorne

Google
Wedge has always been a vibe of its own. Carefully made beers with a good variety of tastes. This spot is a low key, chill Asheville staple. Sit out front if you want to sit outside. Cig smoke seems to linger in the air outback. Pup friendly which we love!

Google
Great location for a brewery. Easy Access from the running trail by the French Broad River, river arts District, and West Asheville. There’s food truck was there and it was really good. The seating is great lots of outdoor seating. Unfortunately no indoor seating. And the beers we’re not that good in comparison to other breweries. Had the iron rail and tropical.

Google
I have an affinity for this Wedge location. So many good memories. Also, it was my first introduction to Saisons, my fave beer. Highly recommend the beer, the hangs, and the company. 🤘🏼 Great parking situation. The only reason it’s not a 5-star situation is that comparatively other beers rival theirs. The saison is the best there when they have it on tap.

Amber Purp

Google
Chill place to go for craft beers. It had a medium selection of beers on tap. Friendly staff and large open space to hang out inside or outside of the venue. I decided to go with the cherry- raspberry wheat beer that was not too sweet with hints of the fruit it was a perfect blend and I would recommend it if you stop by. Pet friendly outside with a big area with wild flower and a good truck on site.

Google
I would go back here for sure. The beers were mostly all good. I liked the belgium the best. The bartender was very friendly. Their prices were reasonable. No flights but they do half pours. The seats were a little in need of repair but the atmosphere fit the area, very artsy. A little annoying when a train passes but not anything to ruin the evening. They had a good truck the night we were there but we were too full to try it

Google
Lots of beer choices and fun outdoor seating. They have a food truck and corn hole as well. It doesn’t look like there is much indoor seating so I’m not sure what it’s like in the winter, but a great place to go when the weather is nice. It’s in the river arts district and nearby some cool galleries. They offer peanuts with your beer as a snack which is nice.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick drink. I had the seltzer and it was great. They have plenty of outdoor seating and there was a wood fired pizza food truck and cornhole out there while we were there. It was nice and the beer was decent.

Rob A.

Yelp
Excellent local beer in the RAD district. Cavelike interior. IPA was hoppy and tasty. Most interesting was a stout w/ cocoa and chile. MM. Outdoor seating too. A cool spot worth visiting.

Kristi B.

Yelp
Again, we were checking out the Grove arcade and stumbled across this brewery. Large area for seating, and they do have some outdoor seating as well. On this particular day, it was raining outside, so we chose to sit inside. Bartender was super friendly and shared some of his favorite places to eat and drink around Asheville. My husband got the Golum - a Belgian strong at 11% ABV it was very smooth and definitely a beer you'll feel if you've not had a lot to eat!! I opted for a flight with their cherry-raspberry wheat ale, the Maibach spring lager, the mango peach sour and the amber ale. All of them were good, but my favorite was definitely the Maibach spring lager

Yelp
One of the original breweries here in town & one of my favorite breweries for beer in the country. It's a don't miss kind of thing place. Only come for the beer & people watchin. Have a great walk about the arts district or just go for a walk along the river. IMO - they make the best beer of anywhere you'll ever go.

Chris B.

Yelp
The beers are very good. I'm having a cream ale and. Monica is having their Locomotion Hazy IPA. Parking on site. Food place Bill and Beggar and the Bottle Riot is next door. Rustic old industrial building. Pretty cool.

Mark C.

Yelp
Just kind of stumbled onto this place. Walked down the steps from the glass blowing place in the River Arts District and there it was. The 2 guys serving were SO friendly and willing to let my wife sample a couple IPA's. I had a porter which was excellent. Great variety to choose from. Just a great vibe to sit out and enjoy life to the fullest!

Lauren S.

Yelp
Enjoyed this local artsy Asheville brewery. We had blackberry passion fruit sour, pumpkin pie haircutted freak, golem Belgium strong ale. All were very good.

Priscella N.

Yelp
Can't wait to visit Ashville again and have a beer here. So good, served cold. The atmosphere was great, and the staff was friendly! There were pets, people of all walks of life and art everywhere! Such a cool place with great beer!

K B.

Yelp
Good place to chill out play a little corn hole drink and maybe even grab a bite from the food truck smokees good wings and pizza !

Karyn S.

Yelp
Very laid back vibe with picnic benches and a lot of outdoor seating. Basically we dined and partied in a parking lot . The staff was friendly and the food truck (pizza tonight) was great. Amber Beers were tasty! Lots of locals who all seemed to know each other... or are just a big friendly group of people.

Stephen C.

Yelp
A little warm outside and no a/c inside. Weak wine selection but the beer is outstanding. Interesting building. Make sure to leave time to explore more of the River Arts District. It's worthwhile.

Kathy E.

Yelp
I have been here twice and it is a great atmosphere with games and food! The second time I was here I was with the Damn Good beer Bus (a must) and having a blast. There beer is excellent and has flavors for everyone! The service is excellent!!

Andrew G.

Yelp
Wife and I were just exploring the town and found this bar hiding in the corner of a shopping mall type area. We stopped in for a couple of beers and ended up having a really good time! They have a wide selection of their own beers and the bartender was super cool and encouraged us to try as many beers as we wanted! Fun people and fun place.

Josh R.

Yelp
Great place to visit if you're looking for a relaxed and fun atmosphere with some of the best craft beer in Asheville. The brewery is located in the River Arts District, and it's surrounded by other breweries, art galleries, and shops. The staff at Wedge Brewing Company are friendly and knowledgeable, and they're always happy to help you find the perfect beer.

Daniel K.

Yelp
Cool, simple beer experience. Very no frills counter service. Very good beer. Awesome outdoor seating area. Definitely worth checking out if in area.

Kristen Claire G.

Yelp
Met a girl friend here for some beers after work. It was about 4:30 on a Friday, plenty of outdoor seating. By 5:30/6 tables were fill and the place was popin with a food truck and corn hole. A bit of tourist too but that's expected. The beers we tried were good. The decor was better. I have a weird appreciation for doll heads with plants growing out of them what can I say. The walls are also filled with fun refurbished art which I can always appreciate. Reduce, reuse, recycle! Really liked the outdoor seating area, the local wildlife were friendly!

Errol H.

Yelp
My first visit to Wedge. I came to try their Belgian Triple and I was not disappointed. Nice, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very laid back atmosphere and area. I will be back.

Greg V.

Yelp
Stopped in during a brewery hopping weekend. Absolutely solid beers, and fantastic service from Anna Dale. We ended up spending far more time here than many of the other stops we made that day. The beer taps are all unique and made by one of the employees here. Super cool.

Ambar G.

Yelp
We enjoyed our time here. We grabbed a beer and went waking around to see the shops, art gallery and skate park. I enjoyed the citrus IPA and my husband the Gollum. Both were good and the vibes there were super chill. Pretty solid place!

Amy J.

Yelp
Had an IPA here and was decent. Like that they have outdoor heated seating to try right of the take away window. Bathrooms are also over in that area. Sat and watched the trains go by and visited the antique store next door. Lots of picnic seating down in lot. Most beers are about $5 bucks. Thai food t yuck in lot for rats. Music being played in backdrop. Super casual and easy going place.

Mike R.

Yelp
Revisited 7/2023 there was NA canned beers like Athletic Brewing. Thanks!!

Stacy S.

Yelp
We stopped by here after hitting the afternoon Tailgate Market. It was not busy on a Wednesday afternoon. There's plenty of room to spread out, with picnic tables and also tables you can stand at. We ordered the Golum and Bier de gard. Both were good, my favorite being Golum. At this odd time there wasn't a food truck nor was one expected. It's a great place to relax and hang out for awhile with a fun ping pong table (which will be in my future yard!) and vibes that are expected in the arts district. If you're around and want to relax with a beer I definitely recommend it.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
The Wedge was a great time!! There was a ton of outdoor seating options by the bar, under a pavilion and under the awning. The beer was great and the service was smooth. No complaints! Would recommend as a lowkey brewery in avl, definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
For my 400th review, I find myself reliving my experience at Wedge Brewing Company. A brewery that reflects everything that's great about Asheville. Wedge is a special place. A place whose vibes, looks, aesthetic, and energy mesh perfectly with the Asheville River Arts District scene. Their beers are their own character and distinction that allows them to stand apart from the vibrant and large craft beer scene. Having walked from New Belgium's facility, I crossed the bridge over the river and saw the Wedge Studios logo from a distance of a large three-story triangular building. As I walked down Paynes Way, past the art studios and other establishments, I took an outdoor staircase down to what was the entrance area to Wedge. Everything about the building and the brewery is simply magical. The vibes you feel when you are there are like no other. Instantly, I felt connected to the place. It felt like coming home. After entering and weaving around the partition, you find yourself in a small contained taproom, with a narrow but long brewing facility behind the north part of the bar counter. After ordering a fight of beers, I went back outside to enjoy them. I sat at on one of the barstools as I enjoyed the beers: their Hefeweizen, Comet S.M.A.S.H Session IPA, Nitro Snug Irish Dry Stout, and 10th Anniversary Ale. The 10th Anniversary and Hefe were fantastic. Having a nice character and finish that really reflects the brewery and building. Chatting with the guys behind the counter, you can feel their passion and dedication to not only the beers they make but the scene they've helped to create. The visit was a definitive highlight of my stay, and I'm glad I was able to do so. I ended up buying a hat and a crawler of Narrow Gauge Session IPA to bring back with me to South Florida. You get a feeling about a certain place, and you want to be able to keep it as you leave. Having been to over a dozen breweries during my stay, Wedge captures the uniqueness and spirit of Asheville.

Lorin S.

Yelp
Small brewery in the arts district of Asheville. Building is in the shape of a wedge, small on the inside, however there is a plenty of seating outside at picnic tables and under a covered shed. Has a great vibe with great service. All that being said, I wasn't too impressed with their beers. I had the rail IPA and Silver Spike IPA. My gf had the Gose Cuervo- a sour that she liked. The grilled cheese food truck that was there was AMAZING- melt your heart. Definitely recommend this place with all the goodness that comes with the environment.

Ginger L.

Yelp
Great service. Great beer. This was our first stop in Asheville and we enjoyed it! Recommend.

Leila R.

Yelp
Not the friendliest bartender, a little condescending and seemed bothered when asked for recs as a 1st timer, but a decent, tho limited beer selection. Most beer were true to style. Weird, but neat location right by the river in industrial artsy district. Road was closed due to flooding so had to take Riverview to Haywood. Couldn't figure out how to drive down to prkg area from the road I turned down so parked uphill on side street.

Josef B.

Yelp
Stopped in the downtown taproom at Grove Arcade on a whim and am so glad we did! Anna Dale was fantastic and gave us great recommendations for Wedge's beer as well as dinner recommendations in the area. We will definitely be back next time we're in town!

Matt M.

Yelp
Very minimal selection. Using Covid as an excuse not to do flights (a first for us this vacation in North Carolina out of a half-dozen visits). The beers were so-so. Left quickly.

Holly B.

Yelp
Paynes Way is the better Wedge location IMO. It's charming and weird and you feel like you're in Europe. I parked on the street above and walked down the steps to get there. I had the Silver Spike IPA. It was delicious. My friend got dinner at the food truck and he said it was really good.

Terry E.

Yelp
Having a great time with friends on a hot memorial day weekend. Huge selection of craft beers to pick from. The bar room could use air conditioning. I am told this might be called hippie natural LOL. Food trucks are on site. The brute tanks are visible looking clean and exciting with new offerings. The bartenders are quick courteous helpful. There's plenty of outside seating good parking trees for shade shade umbrella's but air conditioning might move it to a five star.

Hannah P.

Yelp
One of our stops along the beer hopping scene. The first of the day! This is located in a really cool spot. The back parking lot has a lot of spaces. The interior where you order beer is very small and there was a long line when we arrived. The line moved moderately fast. I ordered the Witbier (Wheat Beer, 4.2%) and it was really good! Worth the long line. We struggled at first to find places to sit as the place was packed and the seating was sort of random. There was a live band while we were there and a few places to toss corn hole. It's clear why there were so many people there because Wedge has a fun, cool vibe.

Damaris A.

Yelp
The beer options are what you would expect for a brewery. The staff is small but super kind and the setting is great. It is very unique and at the time was very empty. I did go in the winter though so it was cold and not busy at all. The bathrooms were clean and the area is great.

Abby L.

Yelp
I love this place so much. It is really a fantastic place to spend a Saturday or Sunday. I love the atmosphere and the layout. There is a porch with open air windows that gets so warm and cozy in the sunshine. The inside is rather small and the main event is mostly outside. The porch is long and has a bunch a seating options, overlooking the river and railroad tracks. There are flowers and plants adorning it. The brewery itself is nestled away in a little downstairs nook that you have to come down the side of the hill using steps. They always have a great food truck and it's perfect for talking and trying beers any afternoon. The service is good. The beer options are always fun and exciting. I love trying new things. I am so happy to have found this cool gem.

Sherene M.

Yelp
Great witbier and fantastic location. The breweries near downtown were too crowded (lines for goodness sakes!) but we were able to find seating here with a great vibe and fantastic Thai food truck. We were near the River Arts district so able to walk to galleries too. Fantastic experience!

Sarah-Grace H.

Yelp
WhAt a fun spot!!! Love the way they labeled the beer! Super crafty! The inside reminds me of prohibition days and all the beers were really great. They had a grilled cheese food truck that was amazing and had a rosemary lemonade that was to die for! Brought our dogs and there was plenty of outside seats and other dogs

David H.

Yelp
Absolutely one of our favorite places. We've lived in Asheville for a little over 7 years now and this was one of our first favorites and continues to be the perfect hang. We love the beer, the environment, el Kimchi food truck, peanuts, etc. we love our town and we love the wedge

Candace B.

Yelp
Dropped in here while waiting for entry into the pinball Musuem - the cherry raspberry wheat beer was delicious!

Jill M.

Yelp
Great outdoor space. Lots of cool repurposed mechanical metal pieces to see, sit upon and photograph. Plus, free roasted peanuts in the shells. We found shelter here as a rainstorm opened up wide. It was cool to watch it pour rain from our sheltered, covered patio. (Which is also dog friendly, of course). Red and white Italian wine is also served in addition to beer. Smells like a Brewery, no feelings of being in a fancy atmosphere or a highly sanitized one. Casual--definitely. Thanks for the water bottle filling station.

Jeff C.

Yelp
This place was tough to find, but definitely worth the extra effort. The isolation is probably why I was the only non-local I saw until the end of my visit. I ordered a flight of four 4-oz tastes, then a pint of my favorite. I really enjoyed everything I tried; the peach pale ale, IPA, saison, and pale ale, in that order. I should have picked up a 4-pack of the IPA, as it's all very difficult to find outside Asheville. I guess now I know. You can't miss the metal sculpture incorporated into the architecture; its unique. I didn't get the story behind it, but I'm guessing the building is historically linked to trains. Definitely coming back on my next trip!

Ruth B.

Yelp
Don't know why but this place made me feel like I was in a Mad Max film. Maybe it's all the metal works and the dusty parking lot surrounding the brewery. Hubby had the Iron Rail IPA and I had the Organic Saison both were delish! Very happy we made a stop here after walking around the River Arts District. Will come back again!

Austin E.

Yelp
This location is NOT open. Their webpage states that this location is open at 12 noon, and we were greeted by a door posting to try their other location at 3pm. Sorry, but your web page must be very out of date and for these visitors it was a waste of 30 Uber dollars.

Laura N.

Yelp
Visited Wedge on a stormy Saturday afternoon after lunch at White Duck around the corner. ATMOSPHERE Located in the River Arts District, Wedge Studios is a short drive from downtown. The parking lot is huge, so finding a spot should not be an issue. This is definitely one of those places that tries to be weird...the oddly charming baby doll heads with plants sprouting out of them speak for themselves. The interior is small and has very little seating; the outdoor space, on the other hand, is made up of lots of different tables to sit at and bars to stand at. One seating area is covered and shady, while others are open to the elements. Wedge also has a couple cornhole boards and a rotating food truck. We enjoyed standing at a bar in the shade outside, enjoying the weather, listening to music, and watching peoples' dogs run around. BEER Wedge offers a wide variety of brews, with most being on the lighter side. Pints range from $4-$6, and some varieties are available in pitchers. For non-beer drinkers, they also have cider and wine in the same price range. I really liked the Iron Rail IPA (6.9% abv, $4.50). The Payne's Pale Ale (5.5% abv, $4) was alright, but not very memorable. SERVICE Better than some other breweries in the area. Given the small interior, there were only two people working when we visited, so there was a line of people waiting to order. We appreciated the extra time to make decisions on what to order though! Bottom Line: Love Wedge's large outdoor space, and appreciate their prices, selection, and the option to grab food from the food truck onsite. Will definitely visit during my next trip to Asheville!

Sandeep C.

Yelp
Better with lighter beers. Offset from most of the town with an industrial look. They don't have any food onsite but they work with a taco truck to do periodic deliveries. Plenty of outdoor space but again I would expected a bit more from what I heard about it beforehand

Jeanne K.

Yelp
Please adjust your hours on yelp. Came on a Monday and you are closed. We were looking forward to our visit.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Cheers to review no 200 and spending it at one of my favorite breweries in Asheville, Wedge! Fun place to grab a few beers, converse with friends and play corn hole. I always have to make my way out here at least once when I am visiting! Tip: they sell cans now

Gabrielle D.

Yelp
Wedge has 2 nearby locations and we visited the one near 12 Bones in the arts district on a rainy afternoon. The staff was not particularly friendly or welcoming. We ordered a flight and a pour to share. The inside was dim and fairly crowded so we opted to sit in a covered area in the drizzly rain. There is lots of cool graffiti to look at in this area. The beer was underwhelming. We finished and left with no intentions of returning. Wished we had visited the other location because they have unique tap handles which hold some beer so you can see its hue. Was not impressed by the ashtrays on the outside tables, but that's just a cultural difference as I'm not used to being near cigarettes.

Kelly K.

Yelp
Wedge Brewing was on our "must visit" list when we were planning a weekend trip this past Fall. Our GPS didn't successfully bring us to their parking lot but we got a spot on the street and then walked down a narrow little side staircase that brought us right to the Wedge deck. This location feels very industrial and is decorated with very eclectic pieces of art that could have honestly been constructed from a metal scrapyard. The interior lacks seating and feels pretty dark and run down, but the beer was served cold and they offer free roasted peanuts that were salty and satisfying. We took a seat at one of the stools along the edge of the deck overlooking the back lot area where there are lawn games and often times a food truck. There was a fairly large crowd that you could tell was a mix of locals mingling and greeting one another as well as tourists keeping to themselves and just taking it all in. The atmosphere felt very social and welcoming and we could see ourselves hanging out here for several hours on a sunny afternoon. **We first ended up at Wedge's sister location (Wedge at Foundation) which is not far away nor distinctively named different sooo I was confused and checked into wrong location... the two pictures with this review are really at Foundation, not the Studios location!

Raina V.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is great but the beer was my least favorite of all the breweries I visited while in Asheville. The food truck though, Melt My Heart was freakin amazing!!!!!

James W.

Yelp
2.5/5 October 2017. Unfortunately this was not my favorite brewery in Asheville. The beer was ok, but not terribly memorable, the dragul is the only one that stood out for me. The whole place has a kind run down almost post apocalyptic vibe to it that they probably do too good a job with. There's also not a lot seating. The staff was friendly and helpful though. We did talk to a couple of other patrons that were quite enthusiastic about this place but I couldn't really see it. Overall it wasn't awful it just wasn't as good as the competition in a very competitive city. When you have so many other options this one just comes up a bit short in comparison.
