How can you live in Rochester and NOT be a fan of Wegs? I agree that at times they do not carry all the brands I want, but you cannot beat their hours and their location on East Ave (though the parking can be a bit dicey....) And while I am generally a fan, and a customer, of all the area locations (Big Wegs in Pittsford, Perinton Wegs, Henrietta Wegs, Chili Wegs), the one I shop most often is just down the street from my house on East Ave.
Lately, I have been loving the increased amount of organic and local veggies and fruit for sale when you first walk in. I am still upset that their selection of sauerkrauts seems to have disappeared, but the artisanal cheeses, the olive bar, the expanded natural foods section, the bevy of bulk nuts and the selection of teas are all great.
And, just in time for the holidays (though these things are on offer all the time), they have a nice little selection of Rochester merch at the front of the store: postcards, magnets, mugs, tshirts and sweatshirts. I have bought many an item for friends visiting Roch, or moving away from the area, and I am always glad they are open and there is a selection to choose from, especially when I am in a pinch. I definitely recommend checking them out and looking at their merch if you are in need of such a gift!
