I left a one star review months ago because of the woman who runs the self-checkout area late at night, and unfortunately nothing has changed. My husband, who is one of the most cheerful, sweet, and gentle people you could meet, often stops in after his very long workdays to pick up groceries for me and our baby. We rely on Wegmans being open late and carrying the specialty items we need for dietary reasons, and for that we’re grateful.
But every time she’s up front, the experience is miserable. She rolls her eyes, huffs, snaps, and talks down to him (and her perfectly friendly coworkers!) like he’s an inconvenience or even unintelligent if he needs a price check or assistance.
This is not just a one off rough day, it’s consistent, unprofessional, and completely out of step with the customer service Wegmans is known for. I understand retail is hard, and I’ve worked in it myself for many years, but there is never a reason to treat perfectly polite customers (or fellow employees, as I’ve seen her do) with such open disdain.
It’s disappointing to spend so much money at a store that prides itself on customer experience, only to be treated this way again and again. Having someone this consistently abrasive and disrespectful running the self checkout area at night honestly makes us second guess shopping here at all.
