15 Scranton Restaurants and Bars Referenced on ‘The Office’ | Eater Philly

"The products from this Northeastern grocery store chain get a lot of play on “The Office” — and reportedly they didn’t even have a product placement deal." - Missy Frederick

Always fresh always delicious. Wide selection of fresh food for lunchvor dinner with plenty if seating. They make great pizza here as well in a brick oven. Grocery store has everything you would want or need and its quality food. The service is exceptional

Google
Amazing store, very large inside. Beautiful flowers selection. Fresh seafood. Large selection of wines, beers etc. Many great sales. Fresh rosemary rotisserie chicken. A culture and diversity store with many different and unique brands. Friendly staff and customer service. Also, have a eat in dinner inside.

Lynn Jones

Google
This grocery store is pretty large. It's very clean and organized. They have many varieties of just about anything you might need. If you have certain dietary restrictions, like gluten-free, this place has more options that I typically see. The flowers are beautiful and so fragrant. The bakery has so many desserts that look amazing. The prices are a little more than most places but they have more options and CASHIERS! That alone would make me want to return for my next shopping trip.

Google
Wegmans never disappoints. Super clean, great selection, and the staff is always helpful. Their prepared foods section is a lifesaver on busy nights. Easily one of the best grocery stores in the area!

Google
Wegmans has a lot of items you can't find in other stores. It has a great Five Star Pharmacy. It is usually crowded, and you have to bring your own bags. I've never seen any store so crowded with people. It is more expensive than other grocery stores but has many novelty foods. I recommend it to find food you can't anywhere else, and for the pharmacy.

Update 5/25 from 5 stars to 1. Wegmans brands and others are often out of stock - for example: produce, frozen meals, organic bread. Plus, water gallons now only come individually or 6 packs - that's 50lbs. At least they could have marked the new weight and package size. I nearly dropped it on the floor and could barely get it out of the cart. Back injury waiting to happen. 200+ orchards in PA, but the apples come from NY. The new app rolled out that is horrificly slow. The entrance is so jammed with flowers and carts that it's a hassle to enter the store. Geez Wegmans, what's going on? Old review: Much better quality food than other grocery stores and competitively priced. Check out the recipes on their site. Simple and delicious. Our favorite is the meatloaf. Plus, I love that I can build my shopping list in the app, and it directs me to the correct aisle for each item. Saves me time, and that's important. Bring a friend and have lunch - the ready-made meals are delicious, and there's ample space to sit and enjoy. Yay!!! They've added information on the app to tell you where within the aisle an item is located - left or right side and which section! Thank you, Wegmans!!!

Google
Very clean and super friendly staff. The prices are OK, but this is a premium supermarket, if you know what I mean. The staff still my heart, very helpful and knowledgeable, i want to go back just for the service. I have difficulties finding the items I was looking for, that's why I rate a 4. I will go back and get some cheese, the selection is big and looks good. They have a bakery too.

Google
Gentleman taking care of carts in parking lot was kind, friendly and thanked me for shopping there. Great last impression. (He had glasses and ball cap on, was there Wednesday 6.4.25 around 2pm). Cheers to him!

Yelp
Awful service in the hoagie shop!! I called at 7:30 to confirm hours. The girl said they were open until 9:00. I was there by 8:23. tried to place an order for a cheese steak. I was rudely told they turn off the oven at 8:30, which it was before that time. I looked at the girl and specifically said why would you not mention that when I called? besides the fact that it wasn't even 8:30. Very rude and disrespectful. Refused to make my sandwich. Went elsewhere, will not return. It's said that one worker can ruin shopping there for me.

Yelp
I wish we had a Wegmans around here I live in Ocean County, New Jersey the southern part of it. I have to wait till I go to Pennsylvania to my daughter's house to go shopping at Wegmans. I love your vegetables all your produce your foods are so reasonably priced and you have different things for sale that we can't get around here. It's like a treat for me to go there. She's so lucky she might be up in the mountains, but she has so many nice places around there and this is our favorite.

Larry S.

Yelp
They have literally every thing and their food is amazingly good. Great store and they are very nice

Yelp
I don't quite understand the cult like following that Wegmans has. I mean, I can see why, we all have our favorite stores we constantly go to, but this one seems to be way out there. I have heard from numerous people that they would live and die by going to one of these locations. I'm going to say this and probably get some flack, it's just a grocery store. I walked in here to look around for a few items I thought I might need on this trip. I browsed the aisles and came across a few things that I might want. Prices were not anything special, on par with other grocery stores out there. They had everything you would expect to find and then some. The alcohol aisle seemed to be an aisle that was always busy. I ended up grabbing a few snack type foods to hold me over on a trip I was on. Going out was extra easy as I used the self checkout lanes. Made for a fairly easy stop for me, but like I said, nothing too special.

Mary D.

Yelp
we were in a rush and the woman managing the front, Maria, opened a lane for us and another man. She was so sweet and helpful in a chaotic environment.
google avatar

Waynem R.

Yelp
Wife had appointment nearby so I told her to pick up some thin sliced hard salami. Thought no matter the price 8.99/lb it would be good. Didn't happen opened package to a brown sweaty mess. Too far to take it back tossed in in the trash. Disappointed because my go to deli at Weiss market shut down and only have prepackaged deli meats and cheeses.

Yelp
Wegmans in Wikes-Barre is a large, modern grocery store that is almost competitive to a Whole Foods. Coming from Austin, I was impressed by the size, selection, and quality offered. But some shelves were empty and checkout was super slow.
google avatar

Jurel H.

Yelp
Typical Wegmans..Many fresh options for takeout cafe. For those looking for a quick lunch, or even a bite to eat for breakfast. Wegmans has that covered. They serve hot breakfast sandwiches, as well as coffee and teas.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
This is my first time at a Wegmans. I am from Texas. This store reminds me of a Whole Foods crossed with Sprouts. This is a large store that is clean and very nice looking inside and out. There was hand sanitizer station at front for hands and wipes for the cart. The fresh veggies looked great, but we arrived on a late Thursday evening and many of the veggies were gone. The fresh cut fruit did not look that great pre-packages, so I got a few apples. The honeycrisp apples looked great. We checked out the snacks and there is a nice selection of snacks. The beer/wine aisle was huge. We found some local brews. Employees at front check-out were a bit slow, but very friendly.

Yelp
Great selection of everything including cafe, decor, utensils, wine and spirits, ethnic foods, desserts, breads, naturopathic etc.

Yelp
It's like Danny Wegman can read my mind. My food desires aren't quite normal. I'm on the fringes of American food culture, and typically large supermarkets don't typically carry what I consider to be food. Yet right there in Wegmans, I can get a pack of brown rice and quinoa "sushi" rolls filled with sweet potato and avocado? Something with vegetables and whole grains that's delicious, nutritious, and doesn't go straight to my hips? Sure, they may charge a pretty penny for it, but I'm glad to have the option. My kids love the hot food bar. I love the "food you can feel good about line". I'm also a big fan of the gigantic beer selection, including many that don't make it up into New York. Sadly, I'm only here when passing through on vacations to the family farm. Fortunately, I do that at least twice a year, and often more. And since this is a pit stop for the family, I'm very familiar with the market's bathrooms, which have always been immaculate. But I would expect nothing less. Now, all we need to do, is find a way to get a Wegmans outpost up in Albany. It would be welcome with an adulation rarely seen at the opening of a grocery store. Seriously. What gives Wegmans? Still, I have faith. One of these days... one of these days.

Yelp
I'm writing to thank the manager Ace for answering my phone call and going out of his way to find the vanilla bean that I couldn't find anywhere else in the Poconos. This was a long drive and well worth it. Wegman's and is a magical FOOD OASIS! Jocelyn at the Customer Service counter had my order waiting when I got there and was super friendly and kind. This store is cleaner than any grocery store I go to and stocked completely. I love all the gorgeous Landscaping in the parking lot and honor this company's commitment to the environment as well as the aesthetics of a beautiful shopping experience. Thank you to Ace and the team!

Yelp
Visited Wilkes-Barre for weekend getaway and visited nearby Wegmans in town on the way back home. I got my favorite carrot cake to have for desert and after 2 1/2 hour long drive, cut the cake and inside was not a carrot cake, but chocolate cake instead. I called the store, but they told me the only way to get refund is to bring the cake with receipt. I am not driving 5 hours to return the cake. Very disappointing.

Yelp
I don't know if I have ever been this impressed with a supermarket. I popped in to Wegmans to grab a few quick things to take back to the hotel and was absolutely blown away by the layout and the quality on display here. Fantastic hot bar with lots of things completely read to eat including meatballs and rotisserie chicken pieces and chicken parm and lasagna. Fantastic cold bar with lots of salads including potato salad and a great quinoa salad. Great looking bakery counter. Produce. OMG, great. I wish there was a Wegmans near me. It would give Publix and Harris Teeter a run for their money.

Yelp
Back in the area again to visit family for 2-wks. During Covid, the store is surprisingly filled with options, unlike FL & TX, where I've recently lived. Again, during Covid, decent selections of all kinds of food from fresh to frozen to canned. My time in FL/TX revealed empty store shelves & super high prices, especially in FL. People do honor mask requirements here... something I don't see everywhere... I appreciate the compliance. Good, fresh produce choices... lots of food choices throughout the store. Flowers were good quality... I'll return tomorrow to buy a dozen... was too rushed today. Nice employees, good attention to Covid cleanliness, which I appreciate... lots of senior customers. Please remember that during Covid, there are no fresh food, buffet options from the deli. Don't be mad at employees... it's not their fault. 4* out of 5.
google avatar

Big D.

Yelp
(UPDATE) well after being so upset I decided to take the potato salad back for a refund and to my surprise they gladly accepted my dis-satisfaction claim and gave me a full refund. Now that is a classy business :) Notice the buy on date and the use buy date. Opened it on May 4th and it was bad! Never ever in all the times I bought deli salads the same day buy/use by date happened - why sell it then! It was terrible and I'm so angry that my $5.39 was wasted. WTF Wegman's!

Yelp
Awesome grocery stores, everything you need and more. I took my Lovely wife here for just dinner.we went to the gigantic wing bars. You pay by the pound and we ate in there dining area Awesome!

Christine B.

Yelp
Ran to Wegmans for ice cream. For the first time I encountered a young man in a wheelchair who was the cashier. I commend Wegmans for giving everyone a fair shot at a job.

Louise Alabre T.

Yelp
Their prices are better than other local stores. However, their produce is sub-par. You have to look very carefully at their packaging as many of their organic berries (strawberries especially) have mold. Their onions (white and red) are also always old. Very disappointing. They are carrying more of their own brands as they discontinue normal items you would find in any store. Unfortunately, the Wegmans' brand is also sub-par in many areas such as pasta, Chinese sauces, etc.. So, if you want variety, do not shop at Wegmans. If you want fresh produce, do not shop at Wegmans.
google avatar

Tracy K.

Yelp
Very nice store, they carry unusual items and everything is fresh and delicious. The store is clean. Bakery delicious! Today was very windy but they had people in the parking lot collecting carriages constantly. Great job !!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this Wegmans! They have amazing muffins, cookies & sushi! I always get sushi here because it's so unique and fresh. It's fun to try something new. This place is organized, clean and has everything you could possibly want. Everything from fancy cheeses & organic rotisserie chickens. They have a GREAT bakery section and tons of hot food that you can take in containers. Their beer selection is good, too. I took away 1 star because their Chinese food is disappointing, they're a little pricey and they don't have Boar's Head cold cuts.
google avatar

Kristie J.

Yelp
We really enjoy this wegmans. When we drive from Syracuse NY to Baltimore, MD it is the midpoint and our favorite spot. This wegmans is always clean, not as busy as others I've went to,but still has the great selection of things you'd hope to find. Organic foods, premade products and specialty items. We love their sushi here, it is always fresh and prices are reasonable. The parking lot can get crazy at high times and the entrance to the actual wegmans has no sign but other than that its a great store.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
They almost always have everything that we're looking for. Lately we've been doing pickup at the store and it's super easy! The only downside is the upcharge on each item. Picking up is such a breeze that I don't know if we'll go back to regular in store shopping. When you arrive the associates are out in less than 5 minutes with your order. They load it up and you're on your way. Always super friendly and no issues.

Karen K.

Yelp
I go to this store once a week they have everything. The place is spotless they kept it very clean even before we had the whole covid thing. We always get fresh croissants and clams and chicken. Love the lemon oil I have meant to leave a review long before this but never had time. I will continue to shop here all the time. Oh, also the kids that work there are always friendly and you see the same faces in the other departments they must like working there because they stay. This place is worth the stop and I think it's even better than King of Prussia all they need is a restaurant like that store.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
A great place to do your grocery shopping. They also have a great beer selection as well as wine. If you are hungry it's also a decent place to have lunch. They have a very good Asian hot bar and salad bar as well. Oh and they also have a great selection of health foods here as well.
google avatar

Quang N.

Yelp
One of the best supermarkets ever! There's great selection for awesome prices. Everything is much cheaper than the corporate chain supermarkets and the people are just do much nicer. The beer selection is amazing, rising liquor distributors for sure.

Yelp
Next to Market 32, this is my favorite supermarket in the area. I don't usually buy the produce since it's more expensive. I do love, love, love the health foods though. Are you vegan, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, gluten free, etc? Wegman's is like the Whole Foods of Luzerne County. They have just about any variety and diet trend. I love shopping here if I want to check out the vegan selection. My eyes just glaze over and I could spend hours staring at the options. The staff is typically friendly and the store is usually clean. I just can't come with often though without breaking my bank.
google avatar

Dirk L.

Yelp
I remember one time at Wegmans this old woman just kept running her cart into me -- I actually had to tell her to "Hold on. Wait. You can't go through right now." She wanted the eggplant I was picking out, it was so obvious and she thought because she was old she could just play this game and push her cart into me. Wegmans has a good variety of Artisan Cheeses, and everything just feels more expensive even if it's not. It's high society grocery shopping, and you feel like you're really going somewhere when you go there. I shop at the Price Chopper in Kingston where a man put a bunch of crackers in the Lobster Tank once. I also dropped a yogurt on the floor there and didn't feel bad as where if I was in Wegmans I would probably contact someone about the yogurt splotch on the floor. Wegmans also has pepperoni cheesy bread sticks in their bagel department. The bagels, bread section is where it's at - I've recently slimmed down and lost about twenty five pounds, so I'm not really itching to go back to the bagel heaven that is Wegmans and start pounding everything bagels like they're shots of fire water. My friend Mugg actually orders that shot at the bar, I've never once seen the bartender pour the hot sauce in the tequila they usually just say here's the bottle do it yourself - like he doesn't have any dignity or anything. So all in all: Go to Wegmans if you want to go grocery shopping but also want to tell your friends and family you did something with your day. "What'd you do?" "Went to Wegmans." Just seems like something, doesn't it?
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
Best grocery going. They have a huge selection. They have just about all the natural and exotic selections of a Whole Foods plus mid- and lower-priced items. There's a restaurant, beer store, sushi, coffee bar, bakery, pharmacy, reading area, international foods, and an organic/natural dedicated section to make it easy...etc. plus, the produce selection is like a farmers' market open every day. Some think its expensive, but it only seems that way because they stock ALL price ranges.
google avatar

Geno P.

Yelp
To rate any other supermarket in the 570 any number of stars over Wegmans is completely laughable. Most reviewers who do this also think Wegmans has an apostrophe in it. It doesn't. But apparently bad grammar dances with bad taste in groceries. It's all about attention to detail, kids, and Wegmans has it. Wegmans has all the every day items plus generous selections of international and organic foods. The pricing is fair. The way I see it - if I am going to spend extra somewhere, it's going to be on my health. Speaking of, I love the fact I can also pick up a case of Longboard lager on my way out of the café. I kill that café at least once a week. It's great how you can grab a box and fill it with Chinese food, fruit, AND pizza and pay by the pound. And the deli is severely underrated. Great location, easy parking, clean, and organized. Nobody does it better in the 570 than Wegmans!
google avatar

Brian J.

Yelp
This store is the best store ever to go shopping they have all the food you need for shopping and all the people that work there are really good workers
google avatar

Larry B.

Yelp
Wegmans rules, and the fact that there was one along my trip from Poughkeepsie to Detroit made everything better. Look, anybody who wonders why people rave about a flippin' grocery store just hasn't been to a Wegmans. We used this location as a stopping point to get some lunch (yummy subs), stretch, and feed the baby. The fact that we could've picked up a replacement jar of baby food on the way out just adds to the amusement. Note - in the cafe area, you can actually purchase beer to go along with your food - but all purchases must be made in the cafe area. I will never understand PA blue laws involving beer. They confuse me..

Yelp
If you're traveling through, this grocery store is worth a stop! Wegmans offers a large selection of by-the-pound (July 2014 it was $8.49/lb) hot and cold food options with a nice restaurant style atmosphere as well as a section of kid tables my toddler loved! Items I saw while there: Made to order subs, pizza, Asian option such as sushi or general tso's, salad bar, chicken tenders, Mac & cheese, fruit, pasta salads, soups, coffee bar, etc. This place was the perfect choice for our family as my husband had Chinese food, I had the salad bar with sliced chicken breast, and our toddler had fruit and pasta salad. I liked that they had the calories clearly posted by each item. If we pass through this area again we would come back because this grocery store offered a pleasant, clean atmosphere with a huge selection. I was also able to pick up some travel essentials as we continued our voyage, always a plus! I gave it four out of five stars because the food layout was a little all over the place. A bar of hot foods, next to two cold bars with another hot bar after that. Ended up circling a bit before we got everything. If you aren't familiar with this place, finding drinks, forks, and napkins were a bit of a hunt if you come through the grocery store side. They are in Wegmans dining area. BTW HUGE beer selection. If we weren't traveling we would have taken advantage of this!

Marci N.

Yelp
Wegmans ... you need to find another delivery service other than Instacart. This is the second time I have had items missing. I had 15 items on this order and 7 of them were missing @ a total of $36. Wegmans should be embarassed to have the instacart name associated with theirs.

Yelp
Wegmans Fan Boi here!! We were in the Wilkes Barre area and realized that this great store was in the area so we swung by to pick up a few things. The more I shop Wegmans, I realize how great their prices are and how good some of their home brand items really taste. Based on a recommendation of a co-worker we picked up some Wegmans Zesty Savory marinade for our steak. I'll be going to the store shortly to pick out a worth piece of meat to enjoy this with. DW and I are actually considering making a monthly trek to Wegmans to do our grocery shopping. I think the Scranton location would be closer for us, but I'm sure it's as equally awesome as all of the other Wegman's locations we have visited. The beer selection is great as usual, almost stunning for a supermarket. It's a little odd due to some crazy PA laws, but you have to purchase your beer in the cafe area and you are limited to a 12 pack. We'll def. be stopping here again on our next trip to the area.

Yelp
This is a great store and is by far the best grocery store in NE PA. The HIGHLIGHTS: - Amazing natural foods selections - Impressive selection of beef, lamb, veal, pork, and chicken - Impressive deli and prepared foods area - GREAT beer store - A decent cheese selection, especially when you consider the location of this store - Friendly staff at every turn - VERY short checkout lines - A nice international foods area The ISSUES: - Their seafood selection can be a little disappointing at times. Also, the fish can sometimes look a little weathered. - Layout - If even moderately busy, the produce section and deli area can be utter chaos. Overall, a fantastic one-stop shopping experience!

Yelp
Love this place!!!!! Prices are reasonable, the staff is very friendly. Excellent selection of gluten free items. They do have organic too, I would like to see more organic produce. They do have alot of other organic items such as meats, sauces, snacks, hummus....... This is where I do 99% of my grocery shopping. They also have a buffet and coffee bar.
google avatar

Charles M.

Yelp
Very nice grocery store. The prepared foods section is far superior to any Whole Foods Market that I have been to. The beer selection is awesome and the deli and bakery are very very good. I would give 5 stars but the aisles are a bit crowded and I'm a damn grocery snob. I slightly prefer Whole Foods and Fred Meyer over the Wegmans stores. Prices are just as high here as at the much besmirched Whole Foods.

LadiesWhoLunch 3.

Yelp
This Wegman's is where we stop for lunch when we travel to visit family. Why? Why do we drive past drive-through fast food on our road trip? Wegman's Subs are why! The people who work at this particular store are always courteous, friendly, and professional.
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Just like any other Wegmans out there. The layout is very different from the one I'm familiar with but it's the same great Asian buffet that keeps me coming to a Wegmans whenever I find one. Can't go wrong here.

Gen H.

Yelp
If it weren't a wegmans, I'd give them 5 stars. But well, I grew up in upstate NY, so I know wegmans can be better. The produce here is always a bit lacking. The stocking isn't quite as good as other wegmans. Food court is good, general store selection is good. There is a whole gluten free section to the store. Bakery is a little smaller than typical, and they discontinued the whole wheat sandwich rolls. In general, far better than your average grocery store, but not at the level of several other wegmans locations.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Wegmans used to be my favorite grocery store. Not anymore ruined my whole weekend. Went shopping on Saturday Oct 21, 2017. I bought a large order totaling $219 well shortly after I received a text stating my account was in the negative. Well Wegmans double billed me, their service desk told me it was my banks fault. I work for my bank for 11 1/2 years and this has never happened to me before. I really think Wegmans computers were not working properly and they tried blaming it on someone else. So I couldn't do anything for the rest of the weekend for my account is frozen. I guess I will grocery shop elsewhere were they don't double dip from now on. Goodbye Wegmans.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Wegman's is by far the best grocery store around. They have a very good selection. Their store brand products are of excellent quality. People always tell me they can't afford to shop at Wegman's. I can't see how that is possible, since it often less expensive than the Walmart up the road. They must think that because the store is so nice that it must be expensive, which it isn't. I live 35 miles from this store and I visit it at least twice a month.
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
Simple, Wegmans is hands down the best grocery market in eastern PA. No other grocery comes close. Their produce is beautiful, prices are reasonable, customer service is stellar and they have fresh Sushi. Can it get any better; I think not. please, please, please Wegmans, expand to western PA.
google avatar

Vagabond T.

Yelp
I love shopping here and eating here. The beer selection is amazing they have organic beer and all kindsfrom all over the world. Sundays are really busy so I try to avoid shopping on Sunday. They have great deals on plants and flowers.

Moe T.

Yelp
Wegmans is always a great shopping experience. They are a first class company all around. Products here you won't find at other supermarkets. Wilkes Barre store is one of the smaller stores that I've been to. If you're ever down in VA check them out. Phoenixville PA store I think had two floors with bar and restaurant.
google avatar

JD W.

Yelp
I would live here if they let me. So many options in the food court. Chinese, Sushi, Pizza, Salads, healthy choices, and more. Everything is always delicious and fresh. Great beer selection. Best grocery store in the area. Organic, gluten free, and other options. Great meat and seafood selection. Great ethnic good supplies as well. Better prices than most local grocery stores.

Yelp
This is as good as it gets when it comes to grocery stores, and they are so much more. I hate to go grocery shopping except when we go here. Wow there made to order subs or has we call them hoagies are simply the best as are there store brand items which are top notch. The only bad thing is Wilkes Barre is the closest one. Please come to Hazleton Area, please please please.
