"Across the street from Northwoods Mall, Wei Mei’s location is ideal for any shopping schedule to stop and try the Chinese and Thai cuisines, such as chow mei fun and pad see-ew. Their selection of milk teas, like coconut or Thai milk tea, can be paired with the many spicy dishes offered to cool down the taste buds." - Michael Pham

The food here is amazing my friend and i always come here after college classes. The owners are so nice as well as worker.

Google
I have never enjoyed every food item I've ordered from an asian food place. We got two entrées and a couple of sides. All of the food was fresh! Great flavors and textures. Their Jasmine Green Boba is some of the best in Charleston! Will definitely be coming back!

I used to love this place. The food I ordered didn't even fill the bowls. I wish I would have taken a photo. The price is still the same but you only get 2/3 of the bowl filled. I understand the pandemic has put a strain on food cost, but if you are going to charge full price for food, at least give me what I purchased. Also, the sesame chicken was good but it was hard and bite sized. I am not sure exactly what is going on with this place. The lady who works there always seems to have an attitude.

Shrimp pad Thai was delicious. Employees are friendly food was really fresh

Google
By and far my favorite southeast Asian restaurant in the area. Generally falls into the Americanized "Chinese food" category but they have some Thai style dishes too (try the curry). The owners are awesome and so helpful with everything. I've even catered my new years celebrations with them and there portions were great, especially for the price.

Google
I typically visit every week or two. Sometimes for Pad Thai, Sushi or Red Curry. I throw Panang Curry in the rotation occasionally, as well. I have yet to have anything that wasn't top notch. As a connoisseur of Asian foods, this place is at the top of my list. A casual atmosphere with extremely friendly staff and owners. Most of the time I will stop for lunch and order a takeout dish for dinner, just something different for variety. The Vietnamese, Thai and Filipino food is all very authentic with heat levels that are variable when you place your order. The sushi is fresh and well prepared with some of the classics, as well as some specific twists that are all their own. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. I highly recommend trying Mei Thai for the flavors, the variety and the friendly service.

Google
My friend and I had a very disappointing lunch experience there today. We waited almost forty minutes for our lunch order to arrive, even though we were the only customers in the establishment. Both had ordered Pad Thai, and it was the worst Pad Thai we have ever eaten. It was soupy and neither of us could eat it. I won’t be going there again.

We returned our food. Don't know how it tasted. It looked horrible compared to previous visit. Our last visit was was ok. Its seems like everytome we go the food starts to look not as appetizing. There was jumbo shrimp in rice now baby shrimp. Rice looked soggy. Honey chicken super dark. I don't mind paying extra for there prices for good food. But this was ridiculous.

Yelp
Wow. I could have sworn we came here years back so thought we'd give it a go when in the area shopping. I should have left before the door closed behind me. Darn right dirty and nasty inside. Why did I order food? Ordered a few items that were packaged well and looked decent. About ten minutes or so after eating we all fell ill. Not like food poisoning ill but just general GI catastrophic repercussions. Stay away. Health department should take a gander behind the curtain.

Yelp
We saw this spot while dropping off our package at UPS two doors down. We were opting for something no frills Asian food. Walked in it was pretty empty . Two adorable kids are at the table in front of the cashier :) It has seating but not really a dine it spot we could see it as more a take out area but we decided to dine in anyways. Didn't want to dishes at how haha. Brad ordered basil chicken fried rice with a taro bubble tea and I ordered shrimp pad thai with Jasmine bubble tea. Bubble tea was served first it was yummy and large size . Followed by food. Food were served in take away container. It was convenient the portion was huge and we need a box anyways. We love the basil chicken and pad thai. It was really different and spicy enough:) We enjoyed it and brought some home for leftover that night. We went on a Sunday parking was pretty convenient :) There is no outside seating. Will be doing take out with them but not dining in :)

Neuman M.

Yelp
Closed. New owner food and menu are different don't care for the new direction and choice of food

Brad P.

Yelp
This place is great! We got Taro And Jasmine Boba teas. They were perfect. Very flavorful. They have a machine that shakes them really well and the top is sealed to go. For dinner we had the Spicy Basil Chicken Fried Rice and Shrimp Pad Thai both are very good. The fried rice was nice and spicy and refreshing. The shrimp pad thai was juicy big shrimps and very flavorful sauce. Not a diner lol. Just a few tables. More of a to go place, but you can sit down if you want. Good food, I want to try everything. Fast service. Quiet atmosphere.

Alaina-Maria B.

Yelp
I've only had delivery from them so I can't really speak about service but good lord the food is delicious. The house special Thai basil spicy fried rice is addictive and the house special Singapore pancit is my favorite. Super fresh shrimp, chicken, beef. It's so good.

Buck B.

Yelp
Unimpressed. I was expecting so much more, however, the spring roll included with meal was as tiny as a Filipino egg roll, however, did not taste like one. No napkins provided for take out. And I was not expecting a brown sauce for honey seared shrimp.

Tawanna M.

Yelp
First time ordering here. The order was made easy over the phone. They are not open for walk-in or dine-in. Learned when I tried to pull the door handle and it didn't budge. They call when the food is ready. You have to call them to let them know you're outside. Ordered veg pad Thai with tofu and spring rolls. Amazing food. Amazing I say! Wow wow wow! Very flavorful and great portion sizes. I ordered 2 orders of spring rolls because my order was over a certain amount, I opted to get more spring rolls. My nephew got fried rice and chicken wings. My mom commented on being happy at the number of wings they give you. I'm making this a must next time I'm in town

Angelo L.

Yelp
Food was not good and took almost an hour to make, ordered off of the dinner combo menu so nothing out of the ordinary, only Chinese food I've thrown out instead of finishing.

V T.

Yelp
Had lunch here today and we both were quite disappointed. We ordered our favorite thai dish, Pad Thai. We were the only people in the establishment and yet we waited almost 40 minutes for our lunch order to arrive. The dish was soupy and frankly tasted terrible. We have been to many thai restaurants, and this is the worst Pad Thai we both have ever tasted.

Scotty C.

Yelp
I had lunch here recently and absolutely loved it. The only thing that was off is that it took quite a while to get our food considering there was only two other people in the restaurant, but everything else was great. Especially the lady at the counter being so friendly and helpful. They definitely aim to please. They've got plenty of great lunch options. I splurged a bit and ordered pad see ew with shrimp and added chicken. We also shared some dumplings and I may have had a boba tea as well... guilty. To drink, I was looking for unsweet tea next to the sweet. She took my cup full of ice and added hot green tea to make it iced. It was so good and different. I had never thought of icing green tea before. The milk tea was flavorful and perfectly sweet too. I had never had strawberry, but I would definitely order it again. On the dumplings, I should have ordered them steamed instead of fried because they were too crunchy, but the filling was nice. My entree was huge! Like, I ate a full portion and it looks like I barely touched it. See photo below for reference of how much I took home as leftovers. The deliver as well so I'll definitely be keeping wei me on my radar.

Yelp
I'm looking for something I don't like on their menu but that's very difficult to say the least. First time Went here I had to go back again for another boba bc it was that fucking good. This is my second time trying this spot out the food is fucking fantastic to say the least I have tried the pad see ew, the butterfly looking crab Ragoons are to die for. The pad see mao are fya and I'm about to try the strawberry boba.

M B.

Yelp
I liked the crab ragoons. The rest of my lunch was bland - I don't think I will go back .

Juanita T.

Yelp
After I fell for the positive review's, that's exactly what I said. " Why me " Probably the worst Chinese food I've had the misfortune to eat. Soggy glob of tasteless celery.

Bryan S.

Yelp
My spot for Chinese. Szechuan beef with shrimp fried rice is my go to but all their food is great.

Jay T.

Yelp
My only criticism is how hot it was in the restaurant. Invest in some A/C time for your customers folks! Hard to really enjoy a hot meal when you're sweating before the food even comes. Okay onto the positives. The chicken pad Thai was very good. I got the dinner portion so it was a bit more. No heat to it, other than from cooking it, but the flavor was tasty. It's a stand-alone dish, so no side dishes to rate. The service was quick and staff friendly. Of course I was the only customer ordering at the time so the service should've been fast. The sweet tea was very sweet, so if that's your thing try it. All in all a good lunch for about $10, just maybe eat the food elsewhere if they haven't figured out how to operate the A/C.

Chelsi U.

Yelp
I've been back a handful of times since my last review and I've tried other dishes so I feel like it's time to update this review. The first time we ate here, we were SO excited. The food was so good! After being back a few times, I feel like there is only one thing that makes this place amazing. It's the spicy basil sauce they put on the rice. That stuff is so daggon good! I also tried their bubble tea and realized it wasn't really my thing. But if it's your thing then they do have it! You can also call in your order like we did and just pick up your food. They also deliver within a certain radius. I've tried the bourbon chicken before as well. The chicken was very dry. Nothing like the bourbon chicken in the mall that is tender and soft. I decided it may be a fluke and ordered the chicken on the stick and my mom ordered the bourbon chicken again. Both were dry and it seemed they had been sitting awhile. Now I'm not an impatient person. I will wait for fresh food. I wish they would try to make these items fresh rather than letting it sit and dry out. Its a shame. They do get pretty busy around dinner time because they are very popular. I will still come for my beloved rice dishes but I will steer clear of their chicken.

Yelp
We ordered delivery from Wei Mei Asian Diner this past weekend. I was quite happy with their online ordering form that was easy to use and convenient to enter my payment information in; as well the fact it sent me an email receipt and text after ordering letting me know what time I could expect my delivery. The delivery was actually 15 minutes early and I was happy and ready to put the food in my belly. We ordered the hot and sour soup which was ok, the crab rangoons which were good, beef lo mein that was great, and the sweet and sour chicken that was good. I will say that overall I was not really impressed with the food and found it to be average. But it did do what I wanted it to; it filled me up. I would certainly order from Wei Mei again.

Dan M.

Yelp
The food is prob between a three and a four star, but I have eaten here twice and both times the people were very pleasant. Had drunken noodles take out this evening. I asked for less oil, very spicy and a lot of veggies. They got two out of three, only missed on the spicy. Veggies were not over cooked and had a good flavor. Noodles with no drink was $10.

Evan G.

Yelp
Wei Mei Asian Diner on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is a great place to go for quality Asian food of all types for a good value. Everything that I have had from here has been delicious, fresh, and well prepared each time. It is good to have a place that is consistent in their quality. They are well worth a visit for good food.

Madison C.

Yelp
If you want something to try, their Chicken Pad See Ew is amazing! The lady at the front is always so friendly when taking your order, and she gives great suggestions. Each time I've been, they've always had the food ready in 30 minutes or less! I can't wait to try the bubble tea at some point!

alice t.

Yelp
Wei mei never disappoints. the food here be hot and fresh and made in a timely manner.

Dwayne W.

Yelp
Honey Wings, Chicken Fried Rice with vegetables, and coconut tea milk is on point. I love their different flavor of Tea Milk, like Mango, Honey, but wanted to try their Coconut that wasn't a disappointment

Megan R.

Yelp
Yum. The Mei Fun & egg drop soup were both fantastic! I was traveling through the area & this was the BEST choice I could have made!

Margaret L.

Yelp
First time here & we loved it! We ordered a lot and were happy with everything. My only slight gripe would be that the egg rolls could use bean sprouts in them! The food was crisp and not greasy. We will be back!!

Jeffery S.

Yelp
Fast and delicious will be back again soon not a bad bite through the whole meal yum yum yum

Rachel T.

Yelp
I love this place! Family run. Inexpensive as far as delicious Thai food goes. I have only ordered my all time favorite Thai dish, Pad See-ew. I order it everywhere so that I can compare how each place cooks. It is a wide rice noodle with a sweet brown sauce, egg, broccoli, and carrots, and is typically ready in 15 minutes. I have enjoyed both the chicken and tofu variety. My son also loves it! This location is in the same shopping plaza as Best Buy, Old Navy, and Barnes & Noble, and directly next to Los Reyes. Plenty of parking. I have no complaints or suggestions about taste, I do however wish they would switch to a more environmental conscious to-go container since this is mainly what I order!

Terinna C.

Yelp
Consistently well packaged, brown sauce tastes consistent, their milk tea is on the sweeter side but their boba is just the right consistency of chewy but not soggy or hard. Quick and fast service.

Veonn E.

Yelp
If my husband's Pad Thai hadn't been the best we'd ever had I would give less stars. The beef and broccoli is the worst I've ever had. A lot of garlic and not much other flavor, none good at least. The "fried" rice was steamed Brown rice with nothing in it. The orange chicken had a good flavor and had we been given enough sauce would have been a lot better. The chicken was heavily breaded so any sauce was absorbed into it. I would only order again for the Pad Thai.

Gabi B.

Yelp
Really enjoy their Asian fusion! My favorite thing is their veggie lo Mein or their bubble tea!

Leslie G.

Yelp
Horrible food!! Had no taste. Pad thai was just noodles with a sauce that tasted like ketchup. They gave me hardly any tofu with the dish.

Alex W.

Yelp
You know what Americanized Chinese food is, so I won't go too in depth here. It is, for all that that can be, really good. Came to us HOT and not just warm, which for delivery is a treat much rarer than it should be. Flavors are more or less what you would expect, but better than the norm. No fortune cookie almost gave them a 4 instead of a 5 just out of principle, but ultimately, that doesn't ruin your meal. They are now my go to when this itch needs to be scratched every few months, better than their competitors which are all pretty much on that same tier. Huge portions. Spent about 40 after tip for way more than we needed and there is easily a second meal out of it for both of us. Options on some meals are "white rice" "fried rice" and "NOT RICE" online, too, which if that doesn't make you smile, you suck.

Megan O.

Yelp
Have been ordering from here for years and have yet to be disappointed! The delivery (without delivery apps) is always so prompt- and they take the extra steps of cutting cardboard and adding to bag so food isn't squished or bag doesn't break. The lo mein is my absolute favorite I order it every time with tofu and broccoli and the portions are so good it easily lasts 2-3 meals. My husbands orders vary from soup to rice dishes to chicken wings and loves it all. My favorite no doubt.

Gil C.

Yelp
The menu selection was good, plenty of dishes to choose from. If you are not fond of spicy food, they offer spicy dishes with no spicy. They are very generous with their portions. My kids decided to try teriyaki bowls. We all had to ask for to go boxes to take home what we couldn't finish. The kids enjoyed the teriyaki. I opted for the beef lo mein. I loved the noodles; however, I would have liked more sauce/flavor (that's just me being picky). Service was great. The gentleman working at the front counter was very polite even though he was swamped with phone order after phone order. My family and I would definitely visit again!

Victoria A.

Yelp
It's hard enough to find good Chinese around here, let alone good Chinese DELIVERY. I had just about given up until I let a friend talk to me into giving Chinese food one more shot. Lets be honest, I was too lazy to leave the house and so totally not in the mood for pizza. Wei Mei, you have won me over. It was a Saturday evening and right off the bat we were told delivery time would be 45 minutes. That was disappointing. Delivery actually took a little over an hour; also disappointing. To be honest, I don't think I really cared because my expectations were low and I figured the food would be lousy anyway. I was so very wrong! For as long as the food took, it was delivered PIPING HOT and tasted fresh and delicious! The chicken was flavorful and tasted like it was good quality (and unlike other Chinese restaurants I've tried recently- actually had the texture of meat!) and the vegetables were cooked to perfection and not too soggy! We asked for extra orange sauce and general tsao's sauce on the side, which they didn't even charge us for, and our meal also came with an egg roll which was a nice touch. The only thing that upset me was the lack of a fortune cookie....Whats a good Chinese meal without reading "you have a big surprise coming to you..in bed" at the end?? Will definitely order from here again.

Bryan S.

Yelp
The Szechuan beef extra spicy is paired with the shrimp fried rice and it's a burst of flavortown. Top notch food!!

Hillary S.

Yelp
I ordered honey seared shrimp with fried rice and chicken with mixed veggies and fried rice. I received sesame chicken w/white rice, and chicken (with little to no veggies) and white rice for the hubs. I ate it because I was starving after a long day of travel. I ordered online so there's really no excuse. The chicken was completely over cooked and my hubby said his wasn't great either... Maybe they ran out of the food items but pick up the phone and let me know before you just bring whatever.

E B.

Yelp
I finally had the opportunity to order delivery from Wei Mei. Hands down, it is the best Asian restaurant that delivers to the Park Circle area. My food arrived earlier than anticipated and was actually HOT! I was expecting to need to heat it up, but didn't need to. Everything I've tried is excellent, my favorites are the Kung Pao Tofu, Spicy Basil Tofu and Curry Tofu. The vegetable spring rolls and chinese donuts are good, too. I will definitely be taking advantage of the delivery service again! The online ordering interface is excellent, I love that they have a field for comments on each item.

Sierra H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were craving good Chinese take out so took a shot in the dark and ordered from here. Fast service. GOOD food and decent pricing.

Bruce R.

Yelp
OK. First and foremost: this is an EXPRESS restaurant. I try to reaearch restaurants before I visit, but this one eluded me. Tables are available for patrons to wait for their take-out orders, not to actually sit at and eat a meal. I wish my YELP colleagues would have given me that piece of information before I made plans to eat there. 'Nuff said on [lack of] ambiance. The menu seems to have a wide selection of choices from appetizers to dinners. My partner got the lo mein, I got beef with ginger. Both were good, but did not have the "punch" we would have expected based on the reviews. I got hot and sour soup which was "temperature hot" but mostly bland. The highlight of the meal was the chicken sticks which were tasty and savory. Drinks were whatever was available in the refridgerated machine on the sidewall. And we got plastic forks to eat our meals. Overall, the food was good, not great and if you're going for takeout you will be OK.

Adam C.

Yelp
Wei Mei has several great reviews, so I hate that we had a less than great experience. To start with, the ambience of the restaurant is atrocious. There are at least 6 different types of backsplash tiles that they use for decorating the walls, counter, and bathroom. The back hall is crammed full with storage supplies just past the soda fountain that is hanging off of the counter. The menus are on television monitors mounted at an awkward angle and only provide pictures of the food. We had traditional sesame chicken and a shrimp lo mein; however the shrimp lo mein only came with 4 shrimp. The chicken sesame, which I find to be a good start for comparing Asian restaurants, was nothing spectacular to say the least. I see what they're trying to do with the Asian Fusion concept, but this isn't the place for me and is not a positive dine in experience.

Ning S.

Yelp
Very busy restaurant, service is poor due to understaffed. My food tasted very plain, but my kid liked her sushi. My sashimi were still frozen...

Desiree V.

Yelp
Ordered delivery online on a Tuesday at 6:35 pm. They knocked on my door at 7:00 pm. I was not expecting it to be that fast! Had Szechuan Shrimp with fried rice, a cup of wonton soup, and some french fries. Everything was hot and fresh, and even the fries were still hot and crispy for being in a styrofoam container. I really liked how they let you choose from mild, medium, hot, and extra hot on the spicy dishes. I went with hot and could actually taste the spice without being overwhelmed. The wonton soup did not taste like it had been sitting in a pot all day. My only complaint was that the shrimp was slightly over cooked, but I imagine that had more to do with sitting in a hot container and still cooking while traveling instead of it going directly to a table. The food and experience was great; I'll definitely order again.

Olga N.

Yelp
Great Asian place . Quick, friendly and very clean. Had mangolian beef, crab wontons and spring rolls. Everything was yummy. Will be back

G M.

Yelp
Some really good fresh food at a good price. My favorite is the Mongolian Beef. A little bit of sitting room.

Amber W.

Yelp
They had fast delivery and amazing food. We ordered the spring rolls, the steamed dumplings, general tso's chicken and the crispy honey chicken and were not disappointed. Everything was the best we have had in a long time. Crispy, balanced and robust flavors. We went to bed with very full, very satisfied bellies

Karis B.

Yelp
Ordered take via Uber Eats from here two nights ago, and I was so happy with my meal!! I Teriyaki Shrimp and chicken bowl, General Tso's, egg drop soup, and egg rolls everything was packaged so well, and it was DELICIOUS! The rice was perfect, and everything was so flavorful!! I even took some to work the next day!

Mike M.

Yelp
I came here for lunch one day during work because it had great reviews online and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed. Food was good, not amazing, and the portions were extremely small. I was actually so hungry after, I went out to get another lunch. (Im not a fat guy, haha I swear). One night my wife wanted dinner to go and we were in the area and I said I needed to go back and try it again. We ordered a bunch of food to go and took it home. Got home and opened the food. First off, food was amazing, delicious, tasty, had good flavor, etc. Second, the portions were great! So much, I had left overs for a few days. I think my take in all of this is that some places are meant for take out and this just happened to be one of them!

Maria D.

Yelp
The food is amazing! It was fresh, hot, quick and definitely interesting. Great place, comfortable seating, a calm modern atmosphere and excellent service. Perfect!

Catherine P.

Yelp
Had the pork dumplings on recommendation of other yelpers. We got the steamed dumplings and our friends had the fried dumplings. I was surprised the fried dumplings weren't deep fried like how other asian restaurants in the area are. Will be getting the fried dumplings next time...The fried rice was really moist and had a somewhat of a sweet aftertaste. The chicken was moist and great! The Mongolian beef was great!! Will come back and try more things because the lunch portions were big enough for leftovers! On a side note the tea is sweetened, made that mistake...yesh!

Gwen B.

Yelp
It's been so long since I've had decent Chinese/Thai food. This place did not disappoint!! I ordered delivery through Postmates but I will definitely be in to eat in the restaurant really soon. I got the chicken fried rice and hot and sour soup. So delicious!
