"Hostess Daniela Jaun and chef Pascal Melliger (partners both professionally and privately) put their heart and soul into running this pleasant restaurant nestled in a cellar space with a pretty vaulted ceiling. The chef cooks modern, precise cuisine, showcasing select produce with an impeccable sense of elegance. Take, for instance, his terrific Swiss lamb, served as a beautifully roasted saddle cut, a fantastically spiced, excellent mini merguez and a superbly crafted ragout. The evening set menu is written on a blackboard on the wall and further clarified at the table. You can choose from four to six courses, and a vegetarian version is also available if you pre-order. Service is provided by a very polite, well-trained and experienced team. When it comes to wine, you can rely on the recommendations of the charming and extremely dedicated young owner. In summer, head for the terrace surrounded by the historical houses of the old town. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to fully appreciate this harmonious culinary experience!" - Michelin Inspector

We have celebrated my husband's birthday at Wein & Sein and it was just amazing. The food was extremely delicious and creative. The place was nice, very calm and elegant. The service perfect. They even came up with a birthday cake with candles at the end. We highly recommend!

Located in a basement in the old town, very good atmosphere! Friendly staffs. We've gone through the 6 course menu. They were good at presenting the flavour of different plants. Not recommended for carnivals.

This was probably one of my best dining experiences in Switzerland. I booked dinner for my wife's birthday on la fourchette for a Friday night. We were trying to find the restaurant but kept walking past it, as Google maps took us to the spot where the restaurant is, but we didn't know that we had to be on the outside of the sidewalk and go down the stairs to the basement. Once we found it though, we were quickly seated and offered a drink and an amuse bouché. I liked the ambient music and lighting. The music was not loud, which allows for conversation without having to yell across the table. The restaurant seemed full, but not in a crowded way. The restaurant has it's courses set up in a way where you aren't brought a menu, but rather you can choose options within a a course. We chose the 3 entrées, and opted for the wine pairings, which was great. The food was amazing. Each dish had lots of flavor and was unlike plain traditional cuisine. After we finished our main, which i believe was veal steak, we were offered either dessert or a platter of cheese. As we asked for the bill, we were also offered some house made chocolate, which was a nice final touch. Most surprisingly however, i had added a note on la fourchette that this was a birthday dinner, and we were surprised with a cake and candle. This was a great end to the experience. The staff was also genuinely friendly and happy, which we both enjoyed.

My recent visit was nothing short of a five-star gastronomic delight. The creativity showcased in every dish was truly inspiring, evidence of an artist in the kitchen rather than just a chef. What struck me as particularly commendable was the delicate balance of scents. Unlike several culinary establishments in Switzerland, which tend to overuse perfumes, the aromatics here were wonderfully nuanced and restrained. They enhanced rather than overwhelmed the palate, making each bite a revelation. To label this one of the best experiences in the region is an understatement. The carefully curated cuisine, the harmonious fusion of flavors, and the meticulous attention to detail elevate it to a whole new level. This restaurant is not just a place you should visit, but a destination you must experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary journey.

We had some wonderful meals in Switzerland, and this was the best. High-concept execution, delicious food, excellent service. There is a single set of dishes for the day; we asked to remove pork and they were accommodating. Wine pairings were good. Dessert was amazing.

Yelp
My guide book rated this place very highly, with "carefully chosen seasonal ingredients". You can only get a "menu", that can be 3-5 courses. On the menu they list only 3 main ingredients and the surprise is the rest as it appears on the table!! And the disappointment is there are only 3 ingredients. Some of the3 worse food I have ever tasted at a restaurant that is trying to be serious. Sad to write this as I think ti is a family run place from a young couple.
