New Restaurant Brings Fresh Tagliatelle and Italian Market to Downtown Nashville | Eater Nashville

"I discovered an Italian-owned restaurant and market called welovEmilia opening downtown later this year at 159 4th Avenue North. Owned by three women from Emilia-Romagna—Donatella Schianchi, Jenny Tassinari, and Patrizia Nanetti—and represented to the press by general manager Pietro Pini, they’ve employed two Italian chefs and say their goal is to bring high-quality, real Italian food to Nashville residents, tourists, and the downtown workforce. A slideshow menu on their website highlights fresh tagliatelle, piadina (flatbread sandwiches), and tigella, a small round flatbread typical of the Apennine Mountains between Bologna and Modena that’s usually eaten with cured meats or with cheese stuffed inside. The large space will seat about 100 between tables, countertops, and a bar with kitchen views, and includes a small market selling Italian products like olive oil, balsamic vinegar, jam, and taralli. They plan to be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; there’s no patio, but they’re working with the city on permits for a large rolling door on a 4th Avenue–facing window, and signs listing the restaurant’s website already plaster the side of the building." - Delia Jo Ramsey

I wanted to share my enthusiastic feedback about my recent experiences with welovEmilia. My first visit, in person with my husband, was fantastic; we thoroughly enjoyed the lasagna and pasta. Tonight, I decided to order delivery via Uber Eats and tried the Diavola with spicy olive oil and Pecorino Romano cheese. It was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it! Despite living a bit far, which meant it arrived a bit cold (no fault of yours, of course!), it was still incredibly delicious. Authentic, fresh, appreciate your attention to detail when it comes to flavor. I cannot say enough good things about your restaurant!

Google
Clarksville, stop what you are doing and go eat here!! I am not always a huge fan of Italian food but this was some of the best food I have ever had!! The pizza dough is phenomenal. The homemade pasta is excellent. It wasn’t heavy and loaded with cheese. The food was fresh and full of flavor. The outdoor patio was perfect for our family. We will absolutely be back!

Google
Pasta sauces were ok, nothing to get super excited about, and covered up w cheese. Pasta itself was good, I’d buy to cook at home. Caprese salad didn’t have basil, they substituted arugula. Pesto sauce was bland. Service was cheerful, and if we return we will try the pizza. Generous portions. Not a fan of paying $2.40 for 16oz water

Google
We did not love Emilia. Would not recommend and will not be back. Drinks are all bottled and are 3.50+. I asked for 2 kids waters and was told they only had cups of ice. The complimentary bread basket looked like discarded pizza crust- with no sauce. We later saw there was oil and herbs to self serve on the other side of the drink fridge. The CotoIetta Bolognese I ordered tasted like grease and cheese; I took 2 bites and was done. My husband ordered the Bresaola Rucola which looked like someone dumbed a box of arugula on top of a prepackaged box of salami and added a lemon on the side- quite literally. We also ordered a pizza which tasted like soggy cardboard and tomato paste. The ambiance is cute & fresh but the food is beyond disappointing. An appetizer, one main plate, one cheese pizza, a bottle coke, a bottle water, and 2 beer totaled over $80.

Google
Overall, I would say personally this is the most authentic place in Clarksville. The food taste amazing, the service is great, and the kitchen is extraordinary! I believe they have a few tweaks to make still, but as a whole I would consider this place one of the highest ranking restaurants in Clarksville, Tn.

Google
Not for me. Is it normal in Italy to not put sauce on pizza? Did we need to pay extra for it? Ordered from Uber eats. Got the calazone, sauce was on top of it not in it. Got 2 cheese pizzas, and two Italian salami. All 4 of which has no marinara or pizza sauce of any kind. It might have well been cheese sticks at that point. Maybe thats authentic idk. But it's not for me and the family. Disappointing.

Google
This is a hidden gem. Came on a referral and am recommending five stars. Warm greeting and personal explanation of the menu handed to me before sitting down. Clean, functional, updated and appropriately furnished restaurant. Food was great. Caprese salad and plate was cold, and presentation beautiful. The Rosemary Patate came out first and was hot. Excellent preparation and taste. This is a mix of self serve counter for ordering and table service if you dine in. All well done. Pleasant atmosphere.

Google
The food is fresh and delicious. You can watch them make the noodles, that's how fresh your food is here. I personally loved the pizza. It was so nice to eat a pizza with such a fresh crust. It is not the always frozen, card board tasting crusts like most places. Honestly, it reminded me of pizza from Europe. My wife loved her Noodles. My child tolerated her meatballs, but who knows when it cones to kids.

Yelp
Best lasagna I've ever had. Great ravioli as well. Can't believe this place is hidden. Too good not to eat here. Will go back for pizza

Yelp

Yelp
Food was amazing! Excellent customer service and fun environment. I will definitely be back soon. I had the lasagna and I can't stress enough how delicious it was.

Yelp
First impression...Can't believe this place is hidden away from everything! That is really how I felt walking in. How can this place that everyone is raving about, be in a not so easy to find spot! Well, it is. But that is not the point I want to drive home. Here is what you need to know... The food is delicious and cooked well. The home made pasta is wonderful. That being said, the price for no service does not add up and the concept throws me considering that price. You would expect the a little bit more of a finer dining experience for the price they charge per dish. NOT saying the food is not worth it. They provide great food for the actual price. The issue I have is the "Order at the front and be delivered your food." There is a some walking around and asking if all all is ok, but it's more of an upgraded Olive Garden. I will say that, its very clean and modern. They have an outside seating area for when it's a bit warmer. All In all, try the food, you'll like it, but don't expect a traditional dining experience.

Yelp
The place is nice with a relaxing atmosphere. Where my issues started are you have to get your own drinks like your at a convenience store. No glassware for pricy drinks. You order at a counter and then bring it to your table. My appetizer was meatballs that came out rather quickly and then to find out they were stone cold. Told the server that they were cold she took them back then they were returned with our entrees. Pizza was good and way daughter and son in law had the pasta. They said the sauce was a bit greasy. My wife had the lasagna and said it tasted microwaved. They have a great pizza oven that they could warm dishes in but with the speed it came to our table was definitely microwaved. I really wanted to love this place. I spent lots of time in Italy and was hoping for a great dining experience. I spent months in Milan and Venice.

Yelp
The restaurant is clean, bright and inviting. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's more like a fast food place where you order at the counter so be prepared. The pizza was good, the center was a bit floppy for my personal liking but the crust was nice and thick, just how I like it. The cheese was a bit on the thin side, though. The lasagne, I already saw reviews that it wasn't good but my friend raved about it so I wanted to give it a try. It was very bland, the pasta was soggy, and the cheese on the side is hardened and black (kind of like when you microwave something and it burns). It was the 1st item to come out which is unusual for lasagne, I'm 98% sure it was indeed microwaved as it was not piping hot, plus the cheese comment above. It also tasted cheap and the portion small, see photo for reference. For $18, I was extremely shocked and disappointed. I also only ate half of this tiny lasagna because I didn't want to waste my calories. I'm 90% sure it is not homemade, other review support this conclusion, although they have upgraded the black microwave containers to an actual plate now, but not enough to fool me I'm afraid. The rosemary parmesan fries: had a lovely crunch and soft center which was perfect. They were a tad on the salty side and not a shred of rosemary to be seen. There is an entire rosemary plant outside the restaurant so it's not like they couldn't source any of the herb. See image. The 'focaccia' they serve at the beginning, was more like stale flatbread. Focaccia is supposed to be thick and fluffy looking bread but the one they served was almost like old pita bread, but hey, it's free so can't complain. I'm surprised the owners are supposedly 'Italian' due to the poor food quality, but then again, being Italian doesn't automatically mean you can cook. Also, it's more a fast food type place so can't expect much. I originally am from Europe and have been to Italy (many different regions) several times so I think I can judge even the smallest amount. Regardless of that fact, I have no trouble distinguishing what is good food and what is not. And finally, when asking for basic tap water to drink, we were told we could get some from the bathroom.... wow. Water is a basic thing a restaurant should offer without having to pay $3 for a small bottle of water. I know the owner is probably going to reply with some snarky comment as he has done with other negative reviews on G oogle, which will just further solidify my decision not to return.

Yelp
Super cute authentic Italian place. The lasagna was amazing !! Highly recommend checking this out

Yelp
Terrifically yummy food, even the oil and vinegar for the bread was top notch. Love when my lasagna is mostly smooth with just a touch of outer crunch!

Wendy B.

Yelp
The ambiance is perfect! The food is incredible! The service is a bit different, as you order your food at the register, grab your preferred drink from their refrigerator, and get any other condiments on your own. However, they bring you complimentary bread and the food you order to your table. I was not disappointed with the authenticity of the pasta and the pizza! Simply delicious!

Amy S.

Yelp
We were expecting a nice Italian restaurant but this was more of a glorified fast food place. Wouldn't go back.

Zermatt H.

Yelp
Hands down the best food in Clarksville! This is legit Italian food. Fresh ingredients, authentic recipes, homemade pasta, incredible dessert. Quick, casual service Incredible quality Highly recommend

Aj N.

Yelp
We ordered an appetizer (Parmesan rosemary potatoes), the Emilia pizza and a pasta dish. The potatoes were very salty but it was hot, crispy and soft in the center. The staff told us that the sauce was meaty but it didn't have much meat to it. The pasta was cold and very undercooked as we could hear the crunch with the bites. We took it home, microwaved it and it was much better. The pizza was nice and hot! Would go there again for the pizza. We spent almost $80 for the three dishes and two soft drinks.

Yelp
Incredible Food and fabulous atmosphere. Real authentic Italian food in Clarksville!

Yelp
Perfect Neapolitan in Clarksville, one of the pizzas I've had recently: thin in the middle with a fluffy crust. It has modern-meets-mom/pop vibe. For the pastas, the sauces were all well executed, and the homemade noodles were wonderful (small issue: a few of the noodles were almost too al dente). I really love what they are doing in Clarksville, and good on them for putting it near the business park. High quality food, friendly service and will definitely be back.

Caleb B.

Yelp
A nice little spot in an unsuspecting location. Ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was quite tasty. I like the idea of a causal Italian place. Definitely fills a need in the area.

Tisha M.

Yelp
10/10 recommend this place! The fresh Focaccia Bread and oil/vinegar bar was a great way to start our meal. So delicious! As was the rest of our plates. This is by far the most flavorful restaurant we've been to in Clarksville! Super friendly staff. We will absolutely be back. This place is must!

Yelp
When we walked in, the lady at the cash register started yelling instructions at us. We soon realized this was not a sit-down restaurant, but more of a loud fast food place, with uncomfortable seating. We were instructed to use the cabinets to the right of the cash register to acquire our own plastic plates, knives, and forks. We were instructed to use the beer cooler to get our own drinks. It was very loud from the open kitchen where workers were yelling at each other to coordinate orders. The $18 lasagna looked and tasted like frozen/microwaved from Walmart. It even came in a little black frozen container tray. The $20 pizza was fresh made, but the toppings were sparse and the cheese was thin. Very high prices for fast-food. It was over $90, before tax, for 3 of us. They ask for a tip, but you order while standing, and you service yourself. This is not authentic Italian by any stretch of the imagination. This is the McDonald's version of Olive Garden.

Laura L.

Yelp
What a gem! The food is excellent. Fresh and flavorful. My daughter had the basil pesto sauce, I had the spinach ravioli with the traditional tomato sauce and they both were so delicious. The bread and olive oil just fantastic. Just had to get the tiramisu! We were in food heaven. The staff were so friendly, and explained the items on the menu we weren't familiar with. Super clean, great outdoor patio. It's a small casual place. We will be going back!

Debbie S.

Yelp
Pizza was amazing, caprese salad only had 1 small piece of basil, lasagna was delicious, if a bit overcooked. Kitchen type atmosphere. Clean.

Yelp
Wow. Amazing, delicious pizza and homemade pasta. Authentic as heck. This place has the best Italian food I have had in the u.s. so clarksville folks, you are super lucky to have this gem of a restaurant. I will go out of my way to stop here again.

Kristina L.

Yelp
We just left this gem. We walked in and were greeted warmly. You do order at register and condiments have their own station, which is great. The food is freshly made from pasta to pizza ingredients. My BF had the Marguerita pizza and he was so happy. Crust was artisanal, thin crispy and perfect! I had the olive oil and garlic handmade spaghetti. The portion was just right. Pasta tasted so fresh and amazing taste. BTW, my BF was ecstatic they had Peroni. It was a year ago we were in Europe where we had fresh Italian Food that nothing we ever had in the USA. This came very close, so were pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be back very soon!

Maddie T.

Yelp
Food was good, but pricey. Service was good and the restaurant was very clean. I probably won't be back just based on price.

Yelp
Real authentic flavors of Italy right here in Clarksville. Definitely try out their pizza! Friendly faces all around!

Angela D H.

Yelp
I love to play Yelp Lotto, when on the road. What a winner, I hate to recommend because I may never get a seat here again. Do not let the location in an industrial park, hotel row fool you. This place is amazing, all the ingredients are fresh. I will definitely stop here again, and you would be a fool not to. Casual, fresh authentic Italian food that you can taste the love in it.

Kwame F.

Yelp
Excellent service, great food. Coming back again for sure!!! Thank you My wife and I were reminded about our time in Italy while eating their pizza. Basil pesto pasta was also delicious.

Jim S.

Yelp
It's a glorified Fazoli's, you basically wait on yourself. Too much yelling and screaming. Was made to feel like we were an inconvenience. Food is not as "authentic" as they would have you believe. I make better pasta dishes here at home that are far more superior to the point of neighbors asking where i got it from, my sauce is a 14 hour made from scratch sauce and my homemade pizza aren't floppy messes with toppings falling off. Won't be darkening their doors again any time soon.

Denise P.

Yelp
Delicious, authentic fresh pasta! The Focaccia bread was delicious and the pizza looked amazing! The folks working were amazing and so friendly! Very clean and absolutely delicious!

Katrena J.

Yelp
Best Pizza in Clarksville, friendly staff, and fast service. I've been several times and each time the food has been delicious. The lasagna is one of my favorites. Can't wait to go back!

Tim S.

Yelp
This is the best Italian food you will find in middle Tennessee, including Nashville. The owner and staff are connected to the Italian tile factory which is in the industrial park area where WeLovEmilia is located. In my imagination, I concluded that the owner and workers created this restaurant out of desperation for real Italian food in the USA. We were in Parma, Italy, a few months ago and while eating at WeLovEmila we could close our eyes as we ate the prosciutto, lasagna, focaccia, tagliatelle, caprese, etc. and be transported right back to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy where this kitchen derives its name. The staff is very friendly, but you come here ONLY for the food. The food could not be more authentic, but do not come for a "fine dining" experience. Here is my sincere suggestion: bring your own super Tuscan--they provide the glasses with no corkage fee. (There is a Sam's Club about 1/4 mile from the restaurant and you can run in there and grab a couple of bottles.) Order the puff pastries and a generous order of thin sliced mortadella and prosciutto which they import and cut super thin as it should be. Order the tagliatelle (made fresh) and their house sugo di pomodoro. I would skip desert, but if you want something sweet, get the Nutella pizza and take what you don't eat home and have it for breakfast the next day.
