How to Spend a 24-Hour Staycation in Downtown Chicago | Eater Chicago

"I like Wendella’s 45-minute cruise as a shorter, still very informative way to enjoy the river and learn a bit about Chicago’s architecture if I’m pressed for time." - Sam Nelson

TL;DR: A decent and reasonably priced tour. Highly recommend going in the evening when the city lights make everything look stunning. I probably wouldn’t do it again, but it’s definitely worth it if you haven’t experienced it before. I took the Chicago Architecture Tour during my short one-night stay in the city. It seemed like a great way to get a quick yet informative overview of Chicago—and it was. As the name suggests, the tour focuses almost entirely on the city’s architectural history, which the guide covered in good detail throughout. The ride lasted a little over 90 minutes and started right in the heart of downtown. We cruised up the river, passing plenty of iconic buildings and landmarks. The guide was knowledgeable, and the boat itself was comfortable—not too crowded. It also had nice amenities: clean restrooms, a bar, and a small snack counter, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

Google
This is the best thing to do if you’ve never been to Chicago. The boat ride was smooth and the sights are amazing. You’ll stand to get lots of pictures. The guide was so witty and funny as well. I had a blast!

A group of us (co-workers/colleagues) came on a weeknight cruise at 5:30PM to do the Architectural Tour…. It was GREAT! It was easy to board, once boarding started. They have a full bar and very light snacks (chips, pretzels, etc), beer, etc. They also have plenty of seating on the upper deck, where you can see everything being talked about just perfectly. The narrator was great on this cruise, he did an excellent job telling stories about the places we saw, as well as explaining a little history and how certain sites were important to Chicago. The route through the lock to the lake was also fun to experience! Highly recommend taking the tour if you want to learn more about Chicago and all the amazing history and architecture that make it such a great place!

Google
I went on the Wendella river and lake tour with my family, and it was one of the best ways to explore Chicago. From the moment we got on the boat, the city started to come alive. Our guide was friendly and easy to follow—she shared stories and facts in a way that made everything click. We learned about the buildings, the bridges, and how the city grew over time. The tour was in English, but super clear and relaxed, so it was easy to understand even if you’re not a native speaker. 100% recommended!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – A Must-Do in Chicago! I took the Wendella Architecture Boat Tour and it was one of the highlights of my trip! The views of Chicago’s skyline from the water were absolutely stunning, and our guide brought the city’s history to life with fun stories and interesting facts. The boat itself was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space to move around and a bar for drinks. I recommend getting there early so you can snag a good seat on the upper deck—nothing beats that open-air view. The ride was smooth, and I loved how the pace let you really soak in the architecture without feeling rushed. If you’re in Chicago, this is the perfect mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and learning something new. Definitely worth it!

Natpatsorn S.

Google
joined the Architecture Tour with John as our lead guide. He’s knowledgeable and able to answer every question while keeping the tour fun. I booked the 6:00 PM cruise hoping to see the sunset. Unfortunately, it was cloudy that day, so there wasn’t much sunlight, but the views were still beautiful. The 90 minutes went by so fast and felt absolutely worth it. The city looked stunning, and the price was very reasonable.

Google
We did the sunset cruise and it was wonderful. Our tour guide/narrator Alex was outstanding! You can tell that he enjoys doing this and provided pretty cool facts about the buildings around. He is very knowledgeable and answered all our questions during the tour. The ride was stunning! We were able to see the buildings during the day and then after the sunset and WOW! This is a must if you are travelling to Chicago. Definitely recommend 100%.

Google
Worth every penny. The guide was super awesome to explain the history and geography behind each and every building that borders the Chicago lake. Beautiful experience. Must visit! Highly recommend.

Yelp
'Wendella Tours & Cruises' has been in existence since I was a kid, and I am in my 60s now. Everyone visiting Chicago should take this tour of the Chicago River and it's surrounding architecture at least once. Everyone who lives in Chicago should take this tour many times, because when family and friends visit Chi-town, they MUST be taken on this tour. Then the more friends and family coming to see you, the more time you take this tour with them. - It's Obligatory. So every time a visitor comes town, I treat them to an afternoon tour on Wendella Tours & Cruises. It's not just that Wendella offers an amazing service - it's that this service is necessary in order to understand Chicago's unique architectural heritage.

Yelp
Every time someone proposes to go on a Chicago River Cruise I groan. Why would you want to go on a boat for an hour when I can see the buildings perfectly fine from here? I've already done the cruise, why would I do it again? I end up going along with the group and doing a cruise, and I love it every time. On the river is the best way to experience the skyline of Chicago. You get to see the best of the best and hear history behind it. Even though this is a tourist trap, it is one of the few that I've been on that I actually think it is worth it.
google avatar

Jordyn L.

Yelp
if you are on the fence, just do it. Usually, I avoid tourist traps like this, but this was really enjoyable. Our guide mentioned that he has been doing these tours for many years and it showed. His knowledge on the buildings was impressive and the information that he chose to share was valuable and entertaining. I recommend getting there early if you have a large party just to make sure everybody can sit together because the seating is first come first serve and you definitely want to be on the upper deck.
google avatar

Chrissy P.

Yelp
Such a beautiful yet rainy experience lol. Although it did rain while on our night cruise, we still had so much fun!
google avatar

Shelby S.

Yelp
I had the chance to go on a Wendella River Cruise while visiting Chicago and it was so great! It was easy to book a trip just a few days out and everyone in my party had a good time! It was really cool that we went out onto the Lake and left the downtown river area for a bit of the ride. Even my nieces enjoyed the cruise! Our tickets advised us to get to the dock early and I can't stress that enough- the line quickly grew well ahead of the cruise even starting. I was surprised. Seating is all first come, first serve, so good to get there early if you want to get a particular seat.

Yelp
The Wendella tour seems to be quite popular, with the boat being packed for the golden hour cruising time. Don't get me wrong, there's still space for everyone, though. Just make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before your departure time to get your preferred spot to sit. There's truly no bad view though! The cruise was very informative and delved into the history of Chicago and made me feel quite proud to be a part of the city I'm not even from. Our tour guide Elsie (?) was also very funny and put a lot of jokes into the tour. My only concern is that it seems that there are a few different check-in points for the various Wendella cruises, so we had a hard time finding which one to check in at. This made us climb a lot more stairs than we really cared to. In this same notion, I don't know that all of the check-in points are necessarily accessible if you cannot traverse stairs, which may be something important to consider if you need ramps or elevators to commute.

Yelp
Beautiful experience! My boyfriend and I took the sunset cruise over 4th of July weekend. The tour guide was really upbeat and gave some fun architecture and city facts. Once we got out on Lake Michigan, they turned up the music and just let us enjoy the water and sunset. It was really romantic. There was even a proposal on board and we all cheered for the happy couple. We had delicious cocktails on the boat too. Beverages and snacks available for purchase. I enjoyed my aperol spritz and it was served in a nice travel cup that kept it really cold. The boat was very spacious and had multiple levels to explore. The weather was lovely and it was such a perfect experience. Amazing city views and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
So the only negative is that this place was super hard to find. Theŕe is a lot of signage for other companies and where this one was located there was construction going on so it would have been better to have a more prominent sign or something because we circled around a few times since there are like 4 potential sides in the Riverwalk to go to so we had to keep going up and down and around the Riverwalk to find this company. However, while we were frustrated after finally finding where to get the boat, the tour guide Dave was amazing. Not only was the tour educational but he was hilarious, it was like a comedy show and a tour in one. So I would definitely recognize it since there are so many unique structures in downtown.

Yelp
Perfect experience worth every penny! We had planned to do sunset things in a building/rooftop but couldn't work it out. We found Wendella Tours and went with this for our sunset situation. Unfortunately it ended up being partly cloudy on our day. We still took the cruise and it was awesome. The guy riding with us did tell us about some of the buildings on our way out to the lake. We cruised the lake a few times. Even without the sunset, as it started to get dark, the buildings being lit up were still beautiful and worth it. Since it was cloudy, I think the company goes the extra step. We ended up sailing down the river on our way back and received a partial architecture tour. Super nice of them. We'll do a cruise every time we're in Chicago. This company's setup is easy. Their boats are primarily right there at Michigan Avenue so they're not hard to find. Our sunset tour was 90 minutes but I think they have shorter tours... just not sure. It's totally worth your time. My best guess is maybe 100-150 people per cruise... on the top of the boat and underneath(where the restrooms/bar are). It never felt crowded at all. You are allowed to stand up if you need the perfect photo. It was a perfect and romantic way to spend our first night in Chicago.

Yelp
Booked the architectural riverboat tour down the Chicago River well in advance. We charged it on their website paying $45 pp. Unfortunately, we were on a boat with 300 middle school children on a class trip. Our guide was informative and wonderful. She shared a lot of information about the fire, the new second city and all of the wonderful architectural gems that we passed. We went underneath 37 bridges crossing Chicago River. I was impressed when we went through the lock system & went into Lake Michigan. The primary "system of locks" for the Chicago River is the Chicago Harbor Lock, which controls water levels between Lake Michigan & the river, enabling boats to pass between them and serving as a critical component of the Chicago Area Waterway System for flood control and navigation. This lock operates by raising or lowering boats using gravity, ensuring the river's water stays below the lake level and preventing contamination of Lake Michigan by wastewater

Yelp
I loved the tour I did with Wendella. I came with a large group and had a great time. Our tour guide was 10/10 -- I learned so much. We had a light meal, and there was a bar downstairs. I have this as an activity to do with my family next time we visit Chicago!

Yelp
If there's one thing in common with all the travel posts you read about coming to Chicago, it's to take an architecture tour. I'm glad I did. Not only do these tours do a great job of highlighting all the one-of-a-kind buildings found in this place, but you get to learn lots about the history and about some of the famous architects. It's cool too because when you look at the Chicago skyline, you see the distinctness in the buildings, but being in a boat floating by them at a time, really gives you time to appreciate them in all their glory. The Wendella tour I took was for 90 minutes, which is their most popular tour and takes you the furthest along the river. The tour guide stops about halfway through when there's nice photo ops for like 5-10 minutes so you can take some pictures and grab a drink. But don't worry about missing the tour if you need to head to the restroom or buy something, there are speaks throughout the entire boat which is awesome. I sat on the benches in the back as per recommendations on reddit, and I agree these were great seats. I was able to snap good photos without people right up next to me. The docks for Wendella tours are located right by the Wrigley building. You can access them by the stairs next to the bridge, and there is also an elevator that takes you halfway down if need be. When I'd go back to Chicago I'd take another tour and I recommend anyone who visits to take one as well. Oh, and it was a great way to spend the morning of my birthday!!

Yelp
First of all, IMO, Chicago Illinois is the best city in the U.S.! This city is beautiful! This fireworks tour boat added to our stay. Apparently, Chicago has fireworks every weekend in the summer, obviously if the weather cooperates. Fireworks were amazing along with seeing the city line during the nighttime and it's awesome how many boats are out on Lake Michigan during the fireworks. If you want seats, get in line early. The reason I did not give five stars was because the woman that was speaking during the tour was boring and 95% of the music was terrible. Other than that, it was worth it
google avatar

Jan C.

Yelp
So glad we did the sunset cruise! The buildings and skylines were beautiful. Our guide, Scotty, was so good! He was very informative, funny and talented. Highly recommended. Oh, and get there early as the line is long.

Yelp
I booked the 11:45 AM Monday tour through Viator. Tickets were $28 per adult. They recommend arriving 30 minutes early, so we got there around 11:25 AM and found a pretty long line already forming. They hadn't started boarding yet, but by 11:30 the line began to move quickly. They scanned our tickets, did a quick bag check, and we were good to go! There were more than enough seats for everyone. I headed to the lower deck to grab drinks from the bar while my friend saved us a spot upstairs. I ordered two rum punches. It wasn't on the menu, but the bartender was super nice and made them anyway ($12 each). They accept cash, card, and Apple Pay, from what I saw. The boat pulled off right on time at 11:48, and we were back and docked by exactly 12:33. I was initially worried that 45 minutes wouldn't be enough, but it was actually the perfect amount of time. The tour was informative and relaxing. I saw some really cool buildings. I even spotted window washers up high, which I've only ever seen in movies! That had me totally intrigued, lol. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a quick and fun sightseeing tour. Friendly staff

Yelp
We had a great time on the 90-min architecture tour with tour-guide Kenny. The boat tour was on schedule and had visible signs to identify the boarding area. They really packed on the people and we were, unfortunately, at the back of the line. We were some of the last to board and were stuck standing along the railing. It ended up being the perfect place. We had great views, the breeze, and got to stretch our legs after a long day of travel the day before. The tour itself was extremely informative. We learned a lot about the different buildings and the history of Chicago, in general. I'd say to plan ahead and buy the tickets off Groupon. You can save over $30 on two tickets, by doing that. If you buy through the site or at the counter at the time of, it's $90. Still worth it for an enjoyable experience we'd likely only do once.

Yelp
We booked this tour and Lucas was our guide for the last cruise of the evening. Looking for cheesy jokes, calm seas and beautiful sights - this is the architectural cruise for you. Be sure to arrive 20 minutes early for your choice of spots as the line builds quickly. There are drinks available on the boat and it is not byob. We were blessed with a lovely evening and great weather to enjoy the sights as we floated by. Cameras out and ears open to capture all the fun little facts about the sights you are seeing. Enjoy!
google avatar

Kris N.

Yelp
Disclaimer I haven't been on many boat tours, as in this is my first so I don't have much to compare it to. That being said this one was pretty nice. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept it interesting for us the entire time. We learned about a lot of the architectural history on the 45 minute river cruise. At the end we got to take a nice shot of the shoreline so that was pretty cool. If I had to say anything, maybe one thing that would have made the cruise better was if the seats were cushioned? But maybe their type of seats are like that because there's no roof or coverage to protect them from rain or harsh sun etc.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Bought tickets online for this architectural boat tour. Arrived about 20 mins prior to departure and a line had already formed. They let us start to board 15 mins prior to leaving. There's plenty of room for everyone to have seats throughout the boat. If you're sitting up top be prepared for the sun (and heat); however, the clouds and bridges we passed under gave us a break. There's a bar inside to get drinks and food as well. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the city's architecture and the views were amazing! Great tour!
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal tour group - did two tours with them on our recent trip, both were excellent. Top of the list for me was their 90-min architecture tour - the perfect blend of information with humor and of course the beautiful sites. We also did the sunset tour on the lake - this was more of a chill, booze cruise type vibe, but the views were fantastic. In both cases, the boats were pristine, the guides were incredible, and a great time was had by all. Will absolutely do another tour when I return!
google avatar

Marc M.

Yelp
We've been a couple of times and had such a good experience. Great guides who provide so much context to the architecture and history of Chicago. This is a must for both tourists and locals alike. A really pleasant way to pass a couple of hours in good weather.
google avatar

Bobby C.

Yelp
I would consider this a must see activity, even if you are in town for a day or two. You got to see a ton of the city and learned many cool facts. I never know how much architectural history was in Chicago until I did this tour. Great views of the City! All staff and our tour guide were super friendly and knowledgeable. Perfect amount of time for the tour as well. We followed up on several tips and suggestions made by our tour guide to enjoy our time in Chicago even further.
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
I have taken multiple tours with Wendella, and I always have a great experience! I enjoy learning new things from each tour guide, and hearing their different perspectives regarding the history and architecture, and even current events within the city of Chicago. Which, might I add is fabulous.
google avatar

Tanya R.

Yelp
So glad we did this while visiting Chicago. We were accompanied by locals who have also done this architecture tour and even they learned new things and enjoyed themselves. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and her wit and jokes kept us laughing and entertained. I highly recommend this tour while you're visiting.
google avatar

Andi W.

Yelp
This was such a fun experience to take when I was in chicago during a crazy heat wave. The breeze was welcome and I learned so much about the architecture that lined the river and our tour guide was great. If course I had to grab an Aperol Spritz from the lower deck to drink while cruizing.
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
I've been to Chicago multiple times but decided to finally take a boat cruise/tour. My tour was on a Wednesday and I bought my ticket around 9am for a 1:00 tour. Everyone was extremely friendly and had excellent communication. Boat was very comfortable and I would highly recommend anyone thinking about learning more about the architecture in Chicago. It's a well timed tour that is very informative. I'd highly recommend.
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
Very cool! You learn so much on this tour it was actually really cool learning about the history of all these buildings and how/why they were made. The architecture is so beautiful. The weather was also really nice. Very fun tour! Def check it out.
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed our 90 minute architecture tour on the river! Our guide was a wonderful tour host and provided great history and education on the buildings along the river. The tour was fun and educational! The boat is massive and the tour can accommodate over 200 people, and although our tour was super packed, it was easy to grab a spot for our group and we still had room to roam around. The upper deck is the best place to be for sights and listening to the tour guide, but it was nice to be able to go downstairs for some shade and cool air. The boat had a bar with water, canned cocktails, wine, and beer, you could purchase it there or pre-purchase drink tickets when you book the tour, which lets you get them discounted. This is the only architecture tour I've done in Chicago, so with nothing to compare it to I'd say it was really great and would do it again!
google avatar

Scott N.

Yelp
Had a fabulous time on this tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The bar poured stiff drinks. Can't really beat that! Loved the tour and the information about Chicago's architectural history!
google avatar

Andy B.

Yelp
We knew we were in for a less-than-enjoyable tour when our tour guide went into full-on non-stop comedy club mode with the volume turned way up. Instead of a nice relaxing evening cruise, we found ourselves having to cover our ears at times, eventually finding refuge below deck (still loud, but just not as loud). At least the tour guide stopped talking once we had passed through the lock and were out on Lake Michigan, where we could peacefully enjoy the Chicago skyline without the incessant chatter. Finally, even the boarding process was somewhat disorganized, with people not quite sure which line was which as they came down the long staircase to the pier. I've done the cruises given by the Chicago Architecture Foundation's architectural cruise several times now and, every single time, they're absolutely amazing, featuring tour guides who know their architecture and are proud Chicagoans who are happy to share their city with those of us visiting. They know the right balance between sharing interesting architectural/historical information and just letting folks enjoy the view. From boarding to disembarking, the CAF tour is absolutely the right choice - and their Chicago Architecture Center's full-size model of the city is a must-see.
google avatar

Theresa G.

Yelp
Beautiful day. Take the longer tour 100% worth it. All seats are great and you can go downstairs with bar/snacks. Did the 1.5 hour tour. Would HIGHLY recommend it
google avatar

Tara C.

Yelp
This boat tour is on the opposite side for most of the main boat tours. I would say on the south side of the bridge. They check tickets four times so have it ready. There was a bar downstairs no food only light snacks. It is also heated for a cold day but the best seats in the house is on the top deck. Alyssa was our architecture historian for the tour with fun building/stone dad jokes.
google avatar

Sara G.

Yelp
This is the best way to experience Chicago's iconic skyline, the Wendella River Cruise. And, it prepares you for Chicago trivia. The tour has fantastic views of some of the most famous buildings in the city. I gotta say the Morse Code Building at 150 North Riverside was my favorite. The facade spells out the building's address in Morse code. About as clever as you get in architecture. I have to mention the new St. Regis Chicago, designed by Jeanne Gang, making it the tallest building in the world designed by a woman. The cruise also highlights the iconic Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), once the tallest building in the world. If you're a history buff nerd like me and you love to learn, do it amongst the city views! Pro Tip: Try to book a late afternoon or early evening cruise to see the skyline light up as the sun sets.
google avatar

Alexander B.

Yelp
Took our friends / Chicago first-timers on this tour and everyone loved it! This is definitely a must for anyone visiting the city for the first time. The tour was actually a bit longer than 45 mins and we learned a lot. Our guide, Dave, was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Plus, he's a native Chicagoan and takes pride in his work. We had a lot of fun and would highly recommend Wendella to all visitors! Just make sure to dress appropriately, especially in spring or fall as it can get windy / chilly on the river.
google avatar

Eyely B.

Yelp
We booked this tour the day before and it was only $28 for a 45 minute architectural tour! They have you lineup around 30 minutes before, and then you board the boat. We didn't expect to necessarily be too involved in an architectural tour, but the guide made everything extremely interesting and we were engaged the whole time! The guy that we had was an older lady with a British accent, she was the best!

Yelp
Went on the architectural tour of Chicago and not only saw such beautiful buildings, but learned so much. Our tour guide, Craig made it so interesting and kept cracking jokes which made the experience so wonderful!! After seeing Chicago from the boat perspective I'm so excited to walk around the city and see another point of view!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful day to be a tourist in your own city! Loved the tour by David he was amazing! Overloaded with so much info! I got the drink tickets when I got my boat ticket. And when I got to the bar after boarding the boat they scanned both tickets so I got a double drink! I got to sip on that during the whole cruise. Definitely get there early if you want a prime seat!! I sat at the back on the benches. Such great views!

Yelp
Thank you Sarah! She was the best tour guide, gave recommendations post tour and great conversation overall. Thank you Wendella Tours!

Yelp
Was in Chicago with my husband, his brother and his wife the beginning of April. Our first time in Chicago. So naturally beforehand, I did my due diligence and Googled and Yelped all the "Must See" and "Must Do" in Chicago. Of course this cruise came across on most if not all my searches. There was no way I could NOT do this tour any way it was everything architecture and I am a sucker for architecture. Make sure to grab yourself a yummy beverage or dessert from Ghiradelli before you board. If you don't have time they do sell some refreshments on the boat. Check-in was simple. Then you walk down some stairs and board. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging. He even went the extra mile and offered to take questions afterwards of food recs. That was nice. Weather was cooperative and you even get a view of the skyline from a vantage point you would not get if you weren't on the cruise. I totally recommend if you've never been to Chicago. You gain a lot of history on Chicago and the buildings that was very nice. It's a great 90 minute tour.

Yelp
We had a beautiful boat tour on the Chicago River showcasing all the beautiful architecture. Our tour guide Spirò was wonderful . He was knowledgeable about all the building la and gave us a nice history about the city. Highly recommended tour.

Yelp
Highly recommend this!! I first went on this about 15 years ago and it still was just as amazing! We took our nieces and made it right before the cruise left (our breakfast place took awhile)! We called to see how strict the 30min before boarding was, and they were understanding and told us as long as we arrived before the departure time. I get easily seasick but this boat goes fast + the windy city helps prevent nausea. And you can walk around as well. The second deck is great for shade. The best spot on the boat for pictures is below on the second deck at the back of the boat. The city skyline is absolutely amazing! I loved the info we got from our tour guide (forgot her name)! She did great and even took pictures for people during her break. I highly recommend this fun activity if you are wanting to get a full tourist experience of Chicago and if you are interested in moving here.

Yelp
I've been on this architecture boat tour several years ago but this particular tour we chose the evening time and it was great! It's so different seeing the buildings lit up at night versus doing the day tour. Our captain was funny and had lots of tidbit facts along the way of his tour. I do recommend getting there early so you can make sure to get a seat on the top level. We were the last people on the boat as we were running late from dinner and got side bench seating on the bottom level but were able to move around to find a better spot.

Yelp
I've done the Wendella Boat Tour four times now whenever friends or family visit, and it's always an awesome experience. This is a must-do if you're in Chicago--the guides are super knowledgeable, and you'll learn a ton about the city's history and buildings that you wouldn't just by walking around. The tour is 90 minutes, fully narrated, with drinks available on board and bathrooms for convenience. The boat is never overcrowded, and the ride is always smooth and comfortable. My most recent guide, Alex, was hands-down the best one yet--engaging, informative, and made the experience even better. If you're visiting Chicago (or even live here), this tour is 100% worth it every time!

Yelp
great tour! I did a 90 min and it goes by fast, great way to take a break after a day of walking. the tour guide was so knowledgable and funny. I've done a tour years ago and I still learned new things. great way to see the city and I even spotted some shops to visit on the riverwalk after we got back. really glad I did it to start my weekend. they have a little bar downstairs and I was honestly thrilled they had ginger ale and didn't over charge for just a soda.

Yelp
The pictures don't do the views any justice. This was the perfect tour to get a history of Chicago while on the water. For $45 and 90 minutes you cannot beat this. Bring a jacket because it gets cold at night. Staff was very knowledgeable and everything was so organized.

Yelp
The overall experience is one everyone has to plan for. The boat ride is fantastic! Our tour guide, Alex was an incredible personality, full of enthusiasm and a real sense of pride for his city. I'm sure he's done plenty of tours but we had the last one on a Friday night and he had no shortage of energy. The boat was definitely crowded not allowing us to sit on the top floor which wasn't ideal but at least there's AC inside downstairs. Big recommendation to do some spider maintenance and sweep webs or have some extermination work, the floor level ceilings are covered and spiders are everywhere making it very uneasy to sit too long anywhere downstairs. No one is looking to take one home or worse! Aside from that it's a must do on the traveling experiences.

Yelp
Booked my tickets online four days in advance. I recommend coming here at least 40 minutes before boarding time so that you can be one of the first ones in line and get a good Seat. They do have a bar on the lower level of the boat. Restrooms are also available on the lower level of the boat. Our tour guide Alex was very knowledgeable and friendly. He even stayed behind to answer any questions and offer food suggestions. We didn't follow the parking instructions after booking our tickets however we found a local parking garage and we parked there to walk to where are we supposed to meet up. All in all the architecture tour provided a lot of history and such a beautiful view of the architect in Chicago. I learned a lot and grew an appreciation for the architect in Chicago. I definitely would recommend booking with them if you are looking to take the architecture tour while you're in Chicago.

Yelp
Excellent tour on the Chicago River! An amazing way to learn about some city history, explore beautiful architecture and spend time on the water. We took a 90 minute tour and really appreciated the information and humor from our guide. I've done 2 boat architectural tours in Chicago and they are a must!
