The 22 Best Restaurants in Ensenada, Mexico | Eater San Diego

"The beers are superb, notably the saison called Hann Zomer, the lighter Baja-style IPA titled Perro del Mar, and the personal favorite of chef Krista Velasco, Vaquita Marina — an American pale ale named after the endangered porpoise. The chef’s playful gastropub menu includes fine versions of American fast-food snacks like onion rings, deep-fried pickles, and a variety of chicken wings, as well as Baja-style ceviche, seafood tostadas, and tempura-battered oysters. Order some LA-style Korean tacos and wash it down with a glass of Harry Polanco, a red ale full of herbs and citrus." - Bill Esparza

Google
Fun place, excellent beer and good customer service. I didn’t have the food however his tit looked very pleasing to the eyes, especially the Burgers. Definitely a party atmosphere and the location is prime, right on the beach with amazing views of the Pacific.

Yaileen Lopez

Google
Beer was great! Service not so much 😅 Tried to order a beer at the bar and they told me I had to sit and order from the waiter. After sitting, it took 30 minutes and finally after the third waiter, I finally got ONE beer

Paxton W. Stewart

Google
Cool staff! Very helpful and patient 👌🏾And the beer is Pretty,Pretty, pretty good!🙌🏾🇲🇽👌🏾

Google
AWESOME PLACE FOR SOME DRINKS!!! This is at a great location here in Ensenada, it’s walking distance from most hotels here in downtown and they have GREAT drinks!! Great service and an even better ambiance!!! The prices are really reasonable and they have a very reasonable variety of beers, I highly recommend you to check it out if you haven’t already!! It’s definitely a spot to go to if you are here in Ensenada!!

Vic Solo Gil

Google
Love their beers, and mixed drinks. Might try their food someday. Highly enjoyed the conversation with the friendly and beautiful bartender. She even recommended another location at my request

Omar Vazquez

Google
Good place to get a great beer and a bite. If you are into IPAs or Stouts, try Perro del mar or foca parlante. The other beer styles are good also. You can not go wrong with any of their beers.

Bill McComas

Google
Great beers all the way around. Bartender, I don't recall his name, went over every beer in the flight in great detail. All the staff were very friendly. Quite possibly the best Chile Limón wings I've ever had.

Sebastian Falcon

Google
Great beer selection, their food is amazing! Their fish tacos and Tacoreano are my favorite!

Yelp
This place is my favorite, each time I'm in Ensenada I'm finding a way to come here! And if one wonders what I love about the Cerveceria; it's the Tiradito Tostada. Hands down my favorite item. I miss this chili oils but it's alright. And the service, the staff members are super attentive!!! And the cups at the table are never empty, they are quick to ask if a refill is needed. The times I have been here has been packed, although it doesn't deter me! Look at their Christmas tree
google avatar

Yelp
Great tacos , beer and atmosphere . The carbon smell was worth it alone , the tacos were all amazing . Salsa's were authentic and distinct in flavor . Don't miss this place

Yelp
This spot rocks! It's a local delicious, hole in the wall looking space. You can't see it from the street. No windows, black doors. I found it on yelp and walked passed it twice looking for it. You can find it next to Starbucks. Tomorrow will walk around The drinks are more artisanal and G drinks here local ingredients, no fake Sh*+ and lots of great options including vegetarian!
google avatar

Brenda D.

Yelp
One of Ensenada's best "hole in the wall" spots. If you like good beer, you have to stop by over Wendlandt's taste room. Have some pints, and take a growler and some bottles for to go. My friends and I tried nearly all the beers in their menu. They were all delicious but my favorite was Perro Del Mar.
google avatar

Xochilt A.

Yelp
Simply rude Many workers but not doing anything but occupying space. Food and drinks are nothing to brag about. Will not return
google avatar

Jose F.

Yelp
One of the most popular and sheik breweries in town. Food and tacos were orgasmic. A must try for all.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
They had Artisional cocktails and Mezcal served here. Fresh squeezed passion fruit and muddled cucumber. Pork sliders were out choice for food and was amazing
google avatar

Jorge R.

Yelp
Beer and food is great. The green ceviche tostada is awesome if you add the spicy paste to it. For beer we had their X Aniversario beer and it was delicious. On the service side I would say there is some opportunities as we had to often check on our food/ drink orders. But everyone on staff was very nice and quick to respond. I'd give five stars except for the fact that I had to check on my orders multiple times.

Yelp
Decent modern feel, hidden within a street in Enseñada Mexico. Dim lighting within with simple cocktail drinks and a couple of beer selections. It looked like a great area to get together for drinks, a bite to eat, or do some work with your laptop and headphones. Their fries went so well with the drinks that we continuously kept ordering more. There was also a special for tapas (fries) and drinks. Wings were alright - tasted like your usual buffalo wings with ranch. I believe we may have been there for happy hour as the menus listed online differ from the ones we saw in house. The menus online definitely have more options - so it may just be that we didn't ask for a more extensive menu. For your beers you had the selections of Verniega (Mexican Ale), Perro Del Mar (Indian Pale Ale), Vaquita Marina (Pale Ale), Humpy Humpy (Amber Ale), Harry Polanco (Red Ale, Hannzomer (Saison), Foca Parlante (Stout), and Gaviota Melendrez (Baja Pils). Their menu was pretty informative in the bitterness and their attentive employee (not certain if it was a manager) had a plethora of knowledge of the drinks. For those who aren't beer drinkers, they also had the option of margaritas which were pretty good. Quite a oasis to relax in when you're in a new city. Felt quite similar to a brewery here in San Diego. Bathrooms are quite clean and so spacey within. During the night, this place was packed!

Yelp
Terrible experience. My husband and I took our one year old in his stroller up the steps, just to be rudely denied because it is only ages 18 and up. I totally understood so we carried him back down just to see they let in a child obviously younger than 18. We felt very embarrassed. Our son was sleeping and very calm. The kid they had was able to walk and run. I feel it wasn't right how they treated us, on top of that the bartenders were extremely rude. We loved this place, however it seemed they were not there for customer service, but more so just a paycheck. We spoke to the manager about the other child and she stated she was just given orders to let him in. We were also informed kids weren't allowed, because they don't have a permit or license to have anyone under the age of 18. Not nice at all. Very degrading.

Yelp
Must try for any trip south. Solid small menu with good sliders and heathy beer selection, well thought out. Cool dark space with plenty of room in the back. I wish they had more chairs with backs, but I'm old. Decent wine selection all good but could use a few more local faves. But, these are details that will be worked out. Service 5 stars!! He was great and other than walking into the wrong bathroom I'd be a regular if I lived here!!! Cool joint!!!

Yelp
What a fantastic place. The beers we tried were all excellent and the food was out of this world!!! Beautifully prepared and the presentation was exquisite. We sat on the deck facing the ocean. What a find!!!
google avatar

Ron N.

Yelp
Some of the best beer I've tasted. Great ocean view . Delicious food . Dog friendly patio at the bottom level only. What more can you want? Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Our last brewery stop on our Tuk Tuk tour was at a renowned brewery, with an assortment of different beers and IPA's on tap. With names such as Pink Flaminga with raspberry (yes you just read that right), with a hint of tartness that cleanses the palate with a little sweet aftertaste that is rather refreshing. There are two levels to this brewery; one being the main bar area and upstairs being an open seating area. The upstairs area has an impressive view of the ocean and a local surfing spot, that challenges seasoned surfers to handle the oceans fury. All in all one can see why this particular brewery has won so many awards, and continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for a brewery. The clientele is local but they are more than welcome to share their knowledge with those willing to learn.

Linda L.

Yelp
Place is a joke. No one liked the beer and the bartender is a jerk. She is probably the worst part of the brewery....beyond the beer. Staff besides that was nice...but ditch the rude bartender. She shouldn't be anywhere near the public.
google avatar

Julien B.

Yelp
Hip spot in the main area of Ensenada to enjoy tasty local beer and food. We got there right when it opened at 6pm and it filled up within the hour. We ordered the truffle fries and the smoked tuna quesadilla. Both were delicious. Beers were good to. Their IPAs and Pale Ales were my favorites. Service was a little overwhelmed but would still recommend.
google avatar

Andrea G.

Yelp
Amazing Tostada de Marlin! Really good beer options and wonderful service. Definitely coming back!
google avatar

Ann G.

Yelp
Soooo, after visiting the other Wendlandt in El Sauzal and this one in Zona Centro, I can honestly say....that both are equally awesome! Each really have their own charm. However, the lighting and food options here are kind of more magnificent. Not only did we have a couple of flights and a couple of bottles of Red Flanders, but we also ate some great pulpo and tacos. Oh yeah, the Girl with a Balloon (Banksy style) on the fridge just added an extra chill vibe to the spot. I shall return!
google avatar

Yelp
Super hip spot located in downtown Ensenada! Serving craft beer priced as anything would be in Baja, cheap! This is a fairly new establishment compared to all the other spots in Ensenada. It was very surprising as I thought I was at a bar in the states. The bartenders are super knowledgable. Except, I found it slightly difficult to explain what I liked in a beer in Spanish... they recommended I try the beer flight which is always a great way to try all the beers they have on tap. If you're in to craft beer I would strongly recommend making a stop here! Now, to try the food here!

Christy H.

Yelp
Really good portion of wings, great flavor! Mezcal drinks were very good as well! Nice, small place on a Main Street & get really busy so get there early or have time to wait.
google avatar

Lucas E.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place over 5 years and never have been disappointed once. Excellent craft beers. My favorite is their stout: Foca Parlante & their red ale: Harry Polanco. Great food. Love their tostada tiradito. Great service. However if you want a table, be sure to get there early. After 8pm, the place fills up fast! Great local beer and food!
google avatar

Peter Y.

Yelp
Located next to Starbuck's, it's an oasis from walking around the town in search of a cool place to have a beer and relax. Their selection of beers is quite large with some seasonal beers added from time to time. The food wasn't foo bad either - we just had some truffle fries and onion rings which were a perfect match for their beers. Cheers,

Yelp
Very VERY belated review from Dec 2015 visit from a Carnival Cruise beer tour. Really enjoyed all the beers, nice people that worked there. It was December on our visit so it was a rainy day, but it all felt nice during the tour as everyone had a good time (tour guides were great and brewery staff super nice)! I'm not a big fan of IPAs, but their IPAs were great! I do like Sculpin, so this brewery was on the same level as Sculpin (if not a tad higher on my list). Definitely everyone has their favourite beers, and this is top of my list.
google avatar

Rainier V.

Yelp
Pretty rad place where all the cool hipsters come. Reminds me of just a little breweries that pop up in the states. Get the local flight that they have which is all their own beer! It's dark and loud in here even on a random night. Tried some of their sliders, Korean tacos, and fries. All pretty good!
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Place is legit. The food is excellent, with an eclectic menu ranging from Korean BBQ tacos (delicious) to pizza and wings(kids enjoyed those) to pho which was surprisingly good. Really can't go wrong. The beer is where they truly shine, I'm an IPA drinker and their Perro Del Mar is fantastic, with nice tropical notes that finishes nice and resinous, my favorite standard Mexican craft beer. They offer guest taps from other breweries in the region as well. Have gotten to know some of the staff due to frequency of our visits over the past few years. Their staff is warm and welcoming. At this location or the brewery in sauzal you really can't go wrong, must visit when in Ensenada
google avatar

Alejandra G.

Yelp
Great place in Ensenada... definitely will go back soon. The selection of beer was good as well as there finger food.
google avatar

Nadia R.

Yelp
Super cute inside, small portions papas very tasty and unique. Great selection of beers. You can pay with pesos or US dollars. We got 2 beers, 1 vodka shot and 3 appetizers for only $15 US
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
Excellent service, great wings, delicious beer and great atmosphere :) Truly a gem in Ensenada!
google avatar

Manuel A.

Yelp
Classic tasting room. Beer is delicious and not pretentious. Always a great time. Cheers!
google avatar

Kokochan Y.

Yelp
A short jaunt away from Hussong's and Papas & Beer, should you decided to take a break from the crowd. Great selection of beers, an awesome menu, and excellent service. One of my favorites in Ensenada.
google avatar

jonny s.

Yelp
This place is cool as far as decor but most important,Good beer, really good beer, cool people and good food. Enough said!!! Come check it out and drink!
google avatar

Fernando I.

Yelp
I highly recommend you this place. It's a pretty cool craft beer bar right in the center of Ensenada. It has about 10 brews on tap by the brewery and a handful of other local options to choose from. They also have really good wine from Valle de Guadalupe and food options to choose from. I recomend getting there early cause it gets super crowded. It's really good for groups and gatherings so don't hesitate on starting the night here and then walking 2 blocks to Papas n Beer. Ensenada is really great for this type of nights.
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
This small brewery on the water in Ensenada offers award winning beer and excellent, friendly service! The beers were good, the pale and red ales were our favorites. Hector took time to tell us all of the excellent local spots to visit for good food and drink. He even drew us a map! We visited many of his recommended spots and were so excited every time. We are amazing food and met awesome people who would share their favorite spots with us. This was a great lace to start our journey exploring Ensenada!
google avatar

Leti L.

Yelp
Loved the food, loved the beer selection, great service, great atmosphere, very clean bathrooms ... it's a must try!!
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
I've been a home brewer for around six years. If I could brew beer as awesome and consistent as these guys I would bend double and kiss my own ass. The beer here is exceptional; full of flavor but not over the top like so many West coast beers. Wife and I are nursing our stout and red ale while we wait for our sliders and fish&chips. Wow are we excited!
google avatar

Mariela V.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem, felt like I was at a brewery back home in LA. The food was delicious and the beer was amazing. Great prices! The service was great.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
I really really like this beer bar in Ensenada. Their beers are delicious and they also do collaborations with local San Diego brewers like Alpine and Pizza Port. The vibe is super cool and its always slammed on Friday/Saturday nights. It can get super loud in their and HOT in the summer but eh...its a beer bar...I dig it! Their menu is really interesting and very reasonably priced. Their only "downfall' is that they don't open until 6pm! This place is awesome and worth a shot!
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
Trendy little pub in downtown Ensenada area. Food was good, but I would suggest getting the food elsewhere for the same quality but cheaper. However, the beers were great and we would definitely come back in the future. Great atmosphere and music
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
Wonderful spot in the center of town, super easy to find - next to a Starbucks. I think people get confused with the other location which houses the brewery further out of town. Excellent beer, I tried their IPA and Amber. They also pour a selection of California beers, Lagunitas, etc. Food was well prepared, we had pizza and tostadas. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Space was well designed, I kept thinking it would fit into any hip neighborhood in Seattle.
google avatar

Madeline H.

Yelp
Good beers and good atmosphere! They have cheap prices for craft beer and very hipster.
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
FINALLY!!!! A cool space with excellent local craft beer, good wine by-the-glass and better-than-decent food. Service is great and we look forward to our regular visits in this "neighborhood pub".
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Great gem in the middle of Ensenada. Just wished they opened earlier so I could day drink! Felt like I was at home in SD. IPA was good and plan to see them here in SD at Tiger Tiger.
google avatar

Adrian A.

Yelp
This place was really crowded. I came by several times but it was never open, weird hours. Bad service and no attention to the customer, decided to just walk out. Try other cervezerias in Ensenada there is plenty of competition.

Dan W.

Yelp
This is a true craft brewery, the ipa is as good as anything I've had in the states and at about $3 a pint it really can't be beat. If you want REAL beer in Ensenada come here
google avatar

Raymond H.

Yelp
If you are lucky enough to make the trip down to Ensenada, this must be your first stop for drinks and food. The mix of beer, wine, and tequilas/mezcals is unmatched, and service is friendly and fun. The music is always jamming, and the kitchen busts out some of the best food you will have in Ensenada - authentic Mexican food with an awesome gastropub twist. This is as good as it gets.
google avatar

Manuel G.

Yelp
A lot of beer choices but the hospitality was not great from staff members. I give this rating a 4 for their abundant beer choices that no one else has in ensenada.Oh yeah it's pricey. Cheers

Kat A.

Yelp
Went here in March 2016. Had a mixed drink and veggie tostadas and fries. The fries came with aioli dip that was the BEST French fry dip I've ever had. Couldn't get over it. Plus the staff was super friendly and patient with our Spanglish, and both of our servers spoke great English so they were able to help us when our Spanish was failing :)

Ken S.

Yelp
This is the spot to go for your beer and ocean breeze.... With a great view of 3m surf break, catch the sunset on the terrace, and mingle with the locals. Great beer and cool staff.
