Wendy’s Blames Low Sales on Income Inequality | Eater

"Sales have slipped, and CEO Todd Penegor has blamed the drop on income inequality, arguing that income gains have skewed toward higher earners while rising rent and healthcare costs are eating into low-income households' ability to eat out. He noted roughly 40% of the fast-food industry's customer base earns $45,000 or less. The industry remains one of the lowest-paying in the U.S.: the average fast-food worker makes about $20,000 per year (BLS), and a 2015 UC Berkeley study found more than half of fast-food workers rely on government assistance. Labor tensions surfaced at a franchise in Wisconsin where workers staged a walkout over starting pay around $8/hour, which staff said made it difficult to attract and retain employees and left skeleton crews working 65+ hour weeks; the company did not immediately comment on its minimum hourly pay. Observers have called attention to pay disparities within the company — one cited ratio puts the CEO's pay at roughly $55 for every $1 earned by the average employee — even as broader labor movements and recent state ballot measures push for higher minimum wages." - Whitney Filloon

With lunch and dinner it's always a hit or miss on service and quality of food. Breakfast is ALWAYS consistently 5 stars. Today my "large" fries fit in a medium container.

NEVER ORDER FROM THEM ON GRUB HUB OR DOORDASH they run things terrible around here apparently and just let anyone take whatever order so NOT ONCE BUT TWICE SEVERAL MONTHS APART I WAITED ONCE OVER AN HOUR TODAY ALMOST 2 HOURS just for my order to be cancelled like it was nothing because someone else STOLE MY ORDER FROM THE COUNTER or at least that was their excuse. The workers had a poor attitude when I called the first time months ago so I am not even wasting my time calling because clearly the workers nor management care about how their store runs or operates what a joke.

I really feel for some of the employees here having to deal with such terrible management. I also had an experience here today where I came in to pick up my doordash order, noticed that it wasn't done, went to the bathroom, came back out to find out that they literally still had not started working on the order. Not to mention that I also spent over 5 minutes driving to this location to pick up the order. There were no customers in the store, no orders to do. Just complacency and a bad attitude towards a delivery driver. The lady working the counter told me that it was my responsibility to tell them that they had a doordash order. This is completely unacceptable and I will not stand for this. My time is very valuable and I refuse to allow complacent wage workers to waste my life. Edit 8/9/25: it took them 16 minutes after I accepted the order to complete the order for pickup. The tip and the pay is hardly worth the wait let alone the 9 1/2 miles I had to drive to complete it. Edit: 8/11/25: another day another 20+ minutes late for my customers delivery. Time that I do not get paid for.

Wow, I like Wendy's but the woman with purple hair cussing out everyone was very off putting. Another customer complained and there were kids in the restaurant. Everyone else working seemed to be doing their best, she was causing issues.

Google
i waited 25 minutes on my food the whole team seemed confused on sandwiches they should be making everyday. All while they took their time their red head employee smiled as they kept saying how long it was taking to prepare my order. First in the lobby last one out while i fought flies the ENTIRE TIME!

In SHOCK that there’s any bad reviews. My fries are hot and my nuggets are crispy! The positivity radiates out of this place and I never have a problem waiting in the lunch rush. They always are so polite and have a smile on their face.

Walked in to order and use restroom. Restroom was nasty and no soap available! Are they washing their hands with water and touching my food? No thank you! They were not friendly and looked very unclean, no hair in nets. We did not order and I'll be showering as soon as I get home from using those bathrooms.

Got a coupon for a free small Frosty cold brew. Went in to redeem and since all three employees seemed solely focused on drive thru orders (at least, that seemed to be the message after I tried and failed to get their attention multiple times...), I used the kiosk to just order and ring it up as normal, then approached the counter, presented the coupon, and asked if they could take it off my bill. The employee I spoke to acted like this was some radical concept she'd never encountered before and told me that "wouldn't be possible" (what do you mean?? You're the business. Should just have to hit a couple buttons, surely). After a 10 minute wait, I'm finally presented with...a small chocolate Frosty---not the cold brew I'd ordered. I was so done with this place, I just said thanks and left. Thank God I don't come here regularly.

Yelp
So thankful that Wendy's came back to town. It's a brand new building. It's conveniently located in the Plover Business area. Parking is limited. When the establishment first opened, I had to park on the side road and walked in. FIrst off, the space is kind of cramped. I was standing behind what I thought was a line but a group of mothers and their small children were sitting on the tall side tables. I was standing there for 10 minutes until they noticed my presence and told me there were no line. They also had two monitors in the front that were broken, so don't even think about ordering from there. It's old school and you'll have to speak with a live person at the counter. The space between the ordering counter and pick up was tight. I had to squeeze through the counter and another person waiting for their food, to the soda machine. They only had one machine; the 1000 flavor combo one. The person standing at the machine took forever to choose their drink however it only took a few minutes to get the order. The food came out in good temperature except for the chili. It always comes out warm so the cheese isn't completely melted. I don't eat in because the dining area is tiny. So by the time I'm home, the chili is cooler and I have to reheat it. Twice now. The buns of the burgers always come out wet. No matter which Wendy's I go to. The employees are nice. They repeat my order back. They ask if I want toppings for my chili and sauce for the nuggets. They haven't messed up my order. Yet, at least. I can't even tell you if the establishment has a bathroom. Since it is the only Wendy's in town and it's new, the establishment is well kept. Even the self-serving area with the ketchup and eating utensils.

Yelp
So gross. Arrived at 11:15 am. Every table was dirty. The floor was so greasy, almost fell . Plus they didn't look like have been swept since the opening . So just think how they handle the crapping food. Omg

Yelp
consider greeting customers and not being so fucking rude. consider having an actual device that orders and doesn't take a minute to load everytime you try to order something. Consider having places for everyone. this is not how a res should be ran. Consider having friendly and clean workers that don't look like they just snorted a line on break. I'm truly disappointed, disgusted, and never coming back here again. I had to wait in line for 10 minutes without a greeting, a smile, and an order. fuck this location. nothing I'd ever support or go back to again. Was really looking forward to supporting since I don't have one at home anymore, but hell, I'd rather crash in the McDonald's drive thru than try to order here. PLUS, the parking is a FUCKING JOKE. Yall need new management! Really sad.

Yelp
Ordered food on the app, drove to the store and the store was closed. At 8:15 AM on a Thursday. Big sign on the door says "Open at 6 AM". This store is a joke.

Yelp
It took a full 15 minutes in the drive thru & that's with 2 cars a head of us, pulling out and leaving before reaching the drive up window. What is with this place? Our Frosty's we ordered were completely melted by the time we got them. That's NOT what we ordered & paid for. Extremely poor service at Wendy's in Plover, WI. There needs to be training here, and replace the failing Management.
