Wenger’s in Connaught Place is a legendary spot that truly lives up to its reputation. Despite the overwhelming crowd and slightly confusing ordering system, the quality of food, especially the cakes and the legacy of the place make it a memorable experience.
Detailed Review:
The first thing that struck me was the massive rush at Wenger’s, especially considering it was peak noon during winters. I was genuinely surprised to see so many people packed into the shop. My friend then explained that this is one of the oldest and most iconic food outlets in Connaught Place, which instantly made the crowd make sense. The shop mainly had non-vegetarian items on display, which my friend opted for, while I decided to try one of their famous cakes.
The process of ordering was a bit confusing at first. You have to stand in one line just to choose your items, after which you’re given a slip. This slip needs to be shown at a separate payment counter, and once paid, you hand it over to another person who finally gives you your selected items. It felt unnecessarily complicated, but perhaps it’s their way of managing the never-ending rush.
Most items were already sold out by noon, which was surprising but clearly reflects the demand. The cakes looked amazing, and the small cake I chose tasted really good fresh, rich, and satisfying. The crowd mostly seemed well-heeled, adding to the classic CP vibe. Overall, despite the chaos, Wenger’s is worth visiting at least once.
