The 26 Best Boise Restaurants to Try Right Now - Eater

"Restaurateur Art Robinson started selling Puerto Rican cuisine at local breweries from a modest food cart. A few years later, he opened a multistory restaurant complete with rooftop patio in Garden City. His limited cart menu of pastelillos, carne frita, and arroz con pollo with rice and beans, plantains, and yucca is now augmented by more flavors from the Caribbean like pernil and shrimp in garlic sauce. Robinson has pledged to donate 5 percent of his annual profits to a Puerto Rican nonprofit helping rebuild the island after the decimation wrought by Hurricane Maria." - Scott Ki, Scott Wink

Google
As a first-time visitor to Wepa Café, I was genuinely impressed by how unique and inviting the whole experience was. Tucked away in Garden City, this place instantly stands out — from the colorful decor to the vibrant Puerto Rican music playing in the background, everything felt warm and full of energy. The service was truly fantastic. Everyone I interacted with was welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. They took time to explain the menu, which I really appreciated as someone trying Puerto Rican cuisine for the first time. I ordered a couple of their signature dishes, and while the flavors were bold and comforting, I did find that the food was just a little bit overdone in places. Not enough to ruin the meal, but it was noticeable. Still, the overall taste and portion sizes made up for it. The rooftop patio was a great bonus — relaxed and perfect for soaking up the sunshine. I also love that they give back through hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico; it made the experience feel even more meaningful. All in all, Wepa Café gave me a memorable first impression. I’d definitely go back — this place has heart.

I have been here only once before, so I introduced it to my boyfriend recently. Honestly I forgot how good it was and cannot wait to go back. The service was great, but honestly the food is just sublime. We started with pastelillos--the cheese blend one is SO GOOD--and the shrimp was also great. We got drinks--I had the best sangria of my life, I'm pretty sure--and he had Malta, which was good to me but not his style. (It's a Latin American malt beverage, but non-alcoholic.) For dinner I asked the waitress for her chicken recommendation and she was RIGHT. I had the pollo a la brasa, which was the most tender and delicious flavor with the perfect spice blend. He got the pernil--roasted pork shoulder. He liked the pork, but loved my chicken. The pork was tender and perfect, I just would have preferred more spice. Overall an excellent experience. Will definitely return soon.

Google
I really like this place. Clean, great food, and great service. The owner is almost always around and stops by the table to check in on how the meal is as well. Appetizer sampler, hard to pick a favorite. Roasted pork entree was spectacular.

Google
Strongly recommended - great unique flavors, wonderful service and fair pricing. Having had their food from a food truck years ago I knew the flavors but was surprised how big the restaurant was. Bigger than I expected - also greeted by the owner at the host stand. It was nicer than I expected - I thought it was a order at the counter and sit and eat sort of place. Great for small bites and nice wine options. A little loud inside - might benefit from sound deadening. Looking forward to trying this place in the summer with the outside patio seating.

Google
Tastey sampler. Ceviche was different, I think i was just expecting more shrimp. Friendly staff, they give you plenty of time before coming back. We liked the pace as we were in no rush to get anywhere and just enjoying the sun. It is a very hot spot, shade was limited if you are sitting outside.

Google
The food was pretty.good. A little salt would've helped it a lot though. The waitress was nice and walked me through some of the more unknown menu items. I'd definitely try it again!

Google
The food was absolutely amazing, and can't stop talking about the guava mousse. It was utterly fantastic, highly recommend. We will be going back, and that's saying something, as we always try someplace new every time... but this made it to our go again list :). The service was equally good and attentive, and an awesome little venue. Looking forward to dining on the rooftop, next time.

Google
The food here is SO flavorful, authentic and delicious. The crispy pork with mofongo? Amazing. It’s always consistent and blows me away each time. The guy who owns it is often in there and obviously passionate about the food and culture. Service is great. Also the vinegar chile condiment at the tables is some kind of black magic. I don’t know what they put in there but it goes with everything.

Yelp
Amazing food! Great flavors! Cooked perfectly! Love the upstairs seating area and the service was great! This place is tucked away in a neighborhood so almost hidden

Yelp
Tried Wepa Café for the first time and loved it! It was my first time having this type of food and everything we ordered was very good. We got the Wepa Bites, camarones, and pastalillos. The camarones were cooked perfectly, and the pork filling in the pastalillos was super flavorful. They've also got a really nice patio -- perfect for hanging out and enjoying the food. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The owner is HORRIBLE. He is rude to his employees, and has no class. I went in with my family one night and I could hear him screaming at his servers and disrespecting them. He has no true passion for his restaurant and has no care for his own business.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute place. Super nice staff. The "brunch" we were served was in a thimble sized dish.... We finished in four bites. Portion sizes are ridiculously small. Rather than listing this as a brunch main dish , it should be listed as a single tapa. It does not qualify as an appetizer.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Our party said we would return to try some of the other food on the menu

Yelp
We went here seeking an authentic Puerto Rican meal and got exactly what we were seeking. The food and service were absolutely amazing. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Another great experience at Wepa. Nice menu options with two daily specials available. Friendly and attentive staff with a comfortable and laidback ambiance. I had the pork and the wife had the chicken rice combo and both were very good. Two sangria's and we were set. I would like to see a red bean and yellow rice option with a choice of protein added to the menu to have a simple and authentic option for purists like me. Perfect dinner option before a night at the Stagecoach theater near by. Cheers!

Yelp
Very authentic PR cuisine! So many kinds of plantains I couldn't get enough. They have beer wine and canned cocktails but not a full bar. There is a small parking lot, inside is moderate size plus a rooftop patio. Most of the food is fried so don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach; you'll fill up fast. The appetizer sampler is the best way to try a little taste of all the great flavors!

Yelp
Wepa is a great Puerto Rican restaurant with a fun atmosphere and amazing service. The food is fairly unique and has a lot of options. We were enjoying our food and drinks so much I forgot to take photos of our entrees until about halfway through. Food: 4/5 Everything was pretty good, but only a few things were really great. My first sangria was just ok, but the second one was delicious (maybe my taste buds just needed to warm up to it?). The Bacalaitos in the appetizer sampler was my favorite part of the appetizer. The sauces that came with the sampler were also pretty good. The guava and cream cheese Pasetillos were also a favorite that just melted in my mouth. The entrees were both good, but nothing that I can't wait to try again. The pina colada cheesecake is another story... I have been craving that ever since we ate it. I think in the future I would get a variety of pastelillos for a meal. Service: 5/5 The service here was outstanding and very impressive! We arrived a little after 5pm on a Thursday to a nice gentleman that greeted us. Our waitress was extremely helpful with recommendations and our drinks and food came out promptly. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 Great, welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to go back when it gets warmer and either sit on the patio or the rooftop. I will say the location is interesting and kind of off the beaten path, which isn't a bad thing. Kid friendly: 3/5 We didn't take our little one this time, but there were some kids there. I didn't notice a kids menu and don't know that I would recommend taking kids here.

Yelp
Great service very fast and attentive, we sat on the patio in the shade facing the side street with little traffic, great location. The food was delicious we had the Arroz con pollo and the ceviche with a side of the garlic sauce. Absolutely the best Cafe con leche I've ever had!

Yelp
Wonderful Service, great gluten free and dairy free options. They have a dedicated gluten free fryer. Food so authentic. Feels like a home cooked meal. Ambience is lovely, feels like you are in a vacation. Location easy to find, street free parking and reservations are suggested but not a must. Been here twice and never too full at 6pm mark. Love it

Yelp
A good Indian restaurant that offers a nice variety of vegetarian meals. Our group of eight enjoyed good service and tasty food in a newer, clean restaurant. I ordered a vegetarian Mofongo , which is mashed savory green plantains with garlic butter and vegetables. It is a huge portion, and I enjoyed the leftovers a couple days later.

Yelp
This place was busy on a hot Wednesday evening in July. No one was sitting outside in the uncovered patio but upstairs under the covered balcony it was lively. The restaurant inside has that industrial loft look with some paintings that emphasized the PR venue. The seats are hard so you don't want to sit there too long; maybe that is good for turning tables, lol. The worst part is the noise. The acoustics inside have practically zero sound dampening and everything gets amplified so be prepared. But the food was good. There is a small but decent alcoholic drink menu featuring some local beer. For appetizers we ordered the Bacalaitos, fried cod patties. They were skimpy on the fish and a little greasy but acceptable. They come with two sauces, a pink fry sauce and yellow PR ranch mix. The ranch was a bit tangy and acidic but complements many of their dishes. We also tried the Pastelillos (similar to Mexican empanadas) in both picadillo (beef) and shrimp with the dipping sauces. Both were excellent! On to the main courses. Wife had Camarones al Aljillo (shrimp with garlic sauce) and there was a tomatoey salsa sauce as an option. This entrée was tasty but the shrimp were on the small side which hurt the dish a bit. It was served on a mixed greens lettuce. Son had the Carne Frita, fried pork with sauteed onions which was seasoned well and delicious although not as tender as desired. I had the Pernil (roasted marinated pork) and it had some nice bark seasoning, tender underneath but a bit fatty. If you like Pork Carnitas at Mexican restaurants this dish is similar. They all came with white rice (topped with an avocado slice) and kidney beans in a tasty sauce. But we had our choice of Tostones (smashed & fried savory plantain chips), Maduros (sweet plantains), Mofongo (smashed plantains with garlic butter & chicharron), or Yuca in garlic sauce. We tried everything but the Maduros. The yuca tasted like a potato, very good. The Tostones were good in the dipping sauces, and the Mofongo was outstanding on its own. To top off the meal we shared a slice of Pina Colada Cheesecake topped with lime curd. Wow, outstanding! The cheesecake is high quality NY style. Service was good but not overly engaging. She did her job, checked at the right times and got us what we needed. There were an adequate amount of servers and bussers working so that no one had to wait very long. This was my first time sampling Puerto Rican fare so I don't have much to compare this experience to. But I'm glad that the Treasure Valley offers this cuisine. Pricing was reasonable for a specialty restaurant and today's inflationary environment. Give this place a try if you are adventurous.

Yelp
The service was terrific. Food excellent, ambiance very nice. Truly enjoyed trying items new to me. Finally had mofongo, Guy fieri talks about it all the time.. it's good! Really nice evening. So much skirt steak. Had it again the next day.

Yelp
It was a nice lunch spot. The restaurant is clean and nice ambient music. The food was tasty and we had great service. These guys even have gluten free options. I would definitely suggest this place.

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem via google as my BFF is Puerto Rican and we were very close by at a local watering hole. Restaurant is very nice being the area it is in & wait staff and owner were very courteous, friendly, and efficient. As for the food, I ordered a vegetarian plate that consisted of yuca frita, sweet plantains, and rice and stewed beans. I chose the garlic base rather than the tomato base and it was wonderful. My friend ordered the carne frita plate and the cubed beef was marinated and cooked well and very flavorful. Entrees are very reasonable and the wine was good but almost as costly as the entrees LOL. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
This is the Little Peace of Heaven on earth you've always been looking for.. Haha! Well, at least in Idaho.. We went here for lunch on Wednesday, April 6, for dinner.. wow!! What an amazing meal we had, from the fried tostonas (bananas) appetizers, to the main meals, to the Flan and cafe con leche!! Just so delicious and great service. We met the owner, Art, he explained the menu to us and recommended some dishes. We had such a great meal that we ordered food to go and ate them later for dinner and this morning for breakfast. So we literally ate food from Wepa for 24hrs.. LOL If your are looking for authentic Puerto Rican food or you just want to try something different but delicious, it's Wepa Cafe!! They will not disappoint and do everything to make you time there special. Please, ask for Art, and tell him Sergio recommended Wepa.. stay safe and keep on smiling Boise..

Yelp
This place is not where you'd expect it to be, but once you find it, you'll be hooked. It's a small Puerto Rican place in Garden City, in a remodeled brick building, so it looks pretty snazzy. :) We got seated right away. Everyone was pleasant and accommodating. A few of us are gluten free, but there menu identifies their gluten free meal options. Yay! We've only been here twice, so far, but both times, the food was very good...delicious, even. My first time, I had the ASOPAO (stew) and it was so full of flavor, it caught me by surprise. Definitely a great option for a satisfying lunch. Cilantro, chicken thigh, spices, and rice in a tantalizing base. YUM. My hubs had the Pernil and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. He did wish there a bit more garlic sauce over the Yuca though. The second round consisted of the Churrasco. One would never think skirt steak could be this tender, but no joke, like butter! SO GOOD. It comes with rice and beans, but the beans look like a sauce, so USE THEM as such and pour them over the rice. You won't regret it. As far as ambiance, it's just a small, charming little place with modern decor with a group of really nice people working hard to make sure you have a great experience. Yes, please.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great food, and be sure to make a reservation. We were looking for something unique and this did not disappoint.

Yelp
Didn't actually know what to expect from this place. Having lots of experience with latino cuisine in Alta & Baja California, Central and South America, we only had a close approximation by enjoying Cuban cuisine. Puerto Rican food must be different, but how different? Based on our choices, the first impressions were garlic, garlic and garlic. Not a problem at all. The dishes were a good size for the cost. The service was very good from an enthusiastic waitress and a polite owner. My photos tell the rest of the story.

Yelp
this place is a hidden gem!! The food is excellent, portions are generous and the service is top notch. Ourserver Trip was amazing!! We will definitely be back!!! walk, don't run to Wepa!

Yelp
Food and service was 4-5 stars. Ambiance is 3. Had to rate 4 overall. Food- we started with the appetizer sampler because we couldn't choose. They were super tasty but everything does have the deep fried flavor...wish something fresh was incorporated to balance the plate. My favorites were the Pastelillos and Alcapurrias. For The Pastelillos we chose the guava + cream cheese and pork. Both were great, I will say I was expecting pieces of guava but it was actually just guava flavored cream cheese, completely blended, no texture. But the flavor was sweet and tasty. For someone who doesn't eat beef often, omg, don't pass up the Alcapurrias. I have no idea what is added to them, maybe cucumber?, but the flavor is explosive. I could skip the other two apps, they were a tad underwhelming. The cod fritter has no fish in it, or ours didn't, it's just a crunchy piece of batter that tastes cod-y. And the tostones were fine, just not a whole lot of flavor compared to the other ones. For our entire we shared the Pernil (Roast Pork Shoulder) I love how simple yet flavorful this dish is. Nothing more than meat, rice and beans and it rocked our world. Meat was cooked perfectly and the beans had such a good flavor to them. It inspired me to start cooking more simply again! There is a house made hot sauce on the table that is high in vinegar content and compliments the dishes very well. Ambience - it's cold. Not temp wise, just no character and cold/sterile environment. The overhead lighting is so bright, honestly just some dim lighting in the evenings would do this place wonders. Service was attentive and had good recommendations. Check this place out. It's a great addition to GC. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Yelp
Wepa Cafe has a great location in Garden City- so close to the Greenbelt that you can smell the river. The staff here are friendly and personable and the newly renovated restaurant has a monochromatic modern flare with pops of artful color. I came here with a group of 5 on a Tuesday evening and was seated immediately despite not having a reservation. There's great indoor and patio seating! We sat outside and when it got a bit chilly- they turned on the heaters for us. The sky during the sunset/golden hour from here was gorgeous! This would be a great date night spot, since you can easily walk along the Greenbelt either before or after your meal! Mofongo was on my mind the instant I discovered this spot and it did not disappoint at all. Mofongo is kinda like a mashed potato made from green plantains with garlic and chicharones (fried pork skin). You can get it topped with either chicken or pork for an extra ($4) or steak or shrimp for an extra ($6). I ordered it without any extra toppings for ($7.95). It comes with a buttery sauce and I thought that it would come with a side of beans and rice but it did not... next time I will definitely be ordering an extra side of beans of rice with my mofongo. Pastelillos- are kinda like the Puerto Rican version of empanadas. They are $3 each and we ordered 5 total: (2) Picadillo- ground beef (2) Shrimp Criolla- shrimp with a tomato sauce (1) Guava and Cream cheese for dessert My favorite was the Shrimp but all of them were super tasty (as most things in a deep fried pouch are). I would definitely recommend ordering a few different ones to try them all! My vegetarian friend at the table ordered the Yuca Al Ajillo- which is yuca/ cassava that she described as "rooty". The Arroz Con Pollo was also ordered on our table, which is a solid chicken and rice dish. We all left Wepa Cafe happy and way too full. I'll be back for the mofongo for sure!

Yelp
Good vibes and amazing food! Will definitely come back and bring my friends here when I visit Boise again!

Yelp
It was our first time to come into Wepa. The food took me back to my childhood . The ambience was just a little loud as they have high ceilings and concrete floors. Great for family and group setting I'm not sure about romantic dinner. We ordered the Carne Frita ( fried Meat ) It came with rice and beans and fried plantains. Our waitress sheell was very friendly and attentive. The Mofongo was cold, They took it back and corrected that immediately with a new one. If you have not, tried Dominican, Puerto Rican or Cuban food great place to go.

Yelp
¡RIQUÍSIMO! I came here in a blinding, cold blizzard storm and found exactly what I needed to warm my empty belly. I got the churrasco which was a 11oz marinated steak with yuca and garlic sauce. Let me tell you, when I'm scrapping my plate to get the last juices with the very last rice kernels, you know you're dealing with some good food.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Really friendly owners/staff, delicious food, great location tucked away near the green belt (perfect for a walk afterwards or some improv comedy at Recycled Minds a block away). If you haven't tried out this Boise gem yet, you are missing out.

Yelp
Spent the weekend in BOISE ID searching for something the feast on, low & behold I saw these guys on YELP. I entered the establishment I was in LOVE with the ambiance/decor, friendly host escorted me to my table & handed me a clean picturesque menu. Waitress suggested the meal of choice for me since I was reluctant on wanting chicken but instead got the juicy succulent tender skirt steak. EVERYTHING was prepped with LOVE, from the white rice/red beans to sweet plantains to the skirt steak. Job well done

Yelp
Great ambience, amazing service, and excellent food. Serves local wine, how can you go wrong? The correct answer is that you cannot go wrong. Wepa is always right.

Yelp
What a wonderful find! Had dinner here in a recommendation from a local winery. I have never had Puerto Rican food so I was excited to taste and see what it was all about. First of all I was excited to see many gluten free dishes. We were a table of 5 and ordered the appetizer plate of filled turnovers (savory and cheesy flavors) , smashed plantains, and cod filled "egg rolls" with two different delicious sauces. Speaking of plantains, the majority of Puerto Rican dishes contain plantains, smashed, fried, roasted. I had the mofongo with garlic shrimp: green plantain smashed and ground with chicarones through it. Very delicious! My husband and his friend had the aroz con Pollo. They were slightly disappointed and thought that it could use a little more flavor. One dish had several green olives in it while the other dish didn't have any in it. Over all..I will come back many times to eat through the menu to try all the wonderful other dishes ..

Yelp
Finally, a place I can come for some real comfort food! And in IDAHO The owner is the nicest person ever, he seems super on top of his game & making sure everything was going great, so that's awesome! Shows he cares about his customers. Food was 10/10, literally dreaming about my next guava & cheese pastelillo.. Waitress were friendly, service was excellent! 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
I got married last summer and wanted a somewhat intimate brunch reception. Art, the owner of Wepa Cafe, provided our wedding guests such an enjoyable experience. He helped me customize a brunch menu that was served buffet style. Many of our guests were unfamiliar with Puerto Rican food and loved it! Mimosas with tropical fruit juice were a hit. There was also a selection of beer on tap and canned cocktails. The staff went above and beyond to welcome us and did an amazing job. We had approximately 80 guests and the size of the restaurant was perfect with an upstairs roof top bar, front patio, and main dining room. The food was set up in the main bar area and the flow was perfect. There was also enough room to set up a memorial table and a table for gifts and our guest book. Art suggested family style seating which worked out perfectly and allowed all of our favorite people and family to interact and get to know each other. The restaurant is adorable with a tasteful tropical theme that was perfect for a summer time reception. I opted to have the house music playing as I wanted my guest to enjoy each others company. Art was more than willing to accommodate a playlist or music of my choice. He also offered the option of accommodating a DJ so we could have a dance floor set up and more of a party in the parking lot. The location in Garden City was perfect! We had guests staying at the Riverside Hotel within walking distance of the restaurant and it is only a 5-10 minute Uber/ Lyft ride from downtown Boise. We were also very happy to support a local Boise business owner. We had such an amazing day and experience thanks to Art and his team!

Yelp
We had the Pernil, Tostones, Bacalaitos, Pastelillos, Arroz con gandules, and Malta drink. Where do I begin... The only thing I will recommend is the tostones and pastelillo w picadillo, and the malta. Service was great, and the place looks very nice. Gente please , please... make the Pernil tender, and add more seasoning, and where is the garlic?? The Arroz con gandules.... por favor... help me. I am not trying to be mean. I am married to a puerto rican... and believe me when I tell you, they need to add the seasonings. WHERE IS THE SOFRITO SMELL and TASTE ???!!!! Keep it real !!!! Chacho Por Favol !!!!

Yelp
Y'all. I was shook. I wasn't expecting to find delicious Puerto Rican food on a trip to Boise but my sister in law said we had to go, because mofongo is in my top 5 favorite foods. And theirs is GREAT! We ordered so many things because I just can't stop myself with PR cuisine, and we left SO FULL IT HURT. Mofongo - I've never had it served in a cup/ramekin thing like this before, I'm more accustomed to it being on a plate, so I'll admit I dumped it out because it was easier to eat that way, but it was really good. The plantain mash was a little chunkier than I like but the flavor was incredible and the chicharrones were super good. Pastelillos - amazing. The cheese one was ok but the picadillo were SO GOOD! Tostones - bomb. So good. Appetizer sampler - a little of everything and it was deeeeelicious. I'd never had bacalaitos and honestly I could just eat a whole plate. Oooooh their beans, though. Spiced just right and even though I was full to the point of pain, I couldn't stop. Their pique (hot sauce)... I think I probably used half the bottle. I couldn't get enough. If they bottled and sold this stuff, I would have bought a case. You guys, it's so good. I think our server said theirs had pineapple in it. I'm drooling just thinking back on it. Go here. You won't be sorry. Super friendly, laid back, great food. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Best Puerto Rican restaurant in the Treasure Valley area! Started off with 2 patelillos. The empanada style crust is top notch! The shrimp one was good along with the sauce inside that was the right amount. The Puerto Rican ranch sauce paired very well. Then there's the Guava Cream Cheese one...BAM...very delicious. Should'ce saved that one for dessert. Today, my mom and I shared 2 entrées. She got the Mofongo and opted for vegetarian which they made beans on the side vegetarian as well. She added the shrimp to it. Cooked to perfection, all of it! The mofongo texture was great and the shrimp not overcooked. They recently updated their garlic sauce to have more garlic flavor and creamier texture which the owner said was changed after his recent visit to Puerto Rico. We loved it. As garlic lovers, we found the sauce to have the right amount of flavor without being too strong on the garlic side. I ordered the Yuca Al Ajillo since I never seen this dish before and wanted to test their vegan/vegetarian options. Texture and temperature was great. Flavor is good but it is yuca which is bland on its own. The tostones on the side were some of the best I ever had. Not over cooked and not greasy. The pink sauce goes really good with it. The "hot" sauce on the table was amazingly delicious. I put it on almost everything. There's slices of habanero in the bottle but the vinegar sauce that comes out is not hot, just flavorful. The staff was professional, nice and happy. Lovely vibrant paintings of Puerto Rico inside this modern style building that also has interesting big windows that are actually roll up garage doors. Next time I plan to try their Arroz Con Pollo since I am more of a fan of Puerto Rican flavored rice that contains ingredients like chickpeas, olives, sofrito, etc.

Yelp
A friend of mine recommended this restaurant, so I decided to host a Meetup group here. Let me say this is the best restaurant I've been to in town. I had the steak, beans, rice, plantains, and avocado and tomato salad. The service was top notch and very friendly staff. I will definitely return.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the presentation of the food here and the open floor plan with great lighting! The service was great and the staff was knowledgeable about the unique menu items! The meat and rice had so much flavor and I appreciated the various dips to try and add even more flavor. The pastelillos had a perfect crisp texture much like a strudel and it was a great appetizer!

Wow! What can I say?! First off our waitress was so patient and kind. She really took time to get us familiar with our menu and the unique items! Second off the restaurant is GORGEOUS and so clean and every dish is picture worthy. The atmosphere makes me feel like I'm on a vacation! Very comfortable, you could make it a date night and dress up or you could stroll in casually from the greenbelt- you'll feel welcome either way! But now- the food! So unique, honestly, you get so much food for the price you pay, you will walk out so full and having experienced such a cool array of flavors you may never have even known existed. I got coconut mahi mahi and it's the best I've ever had! My partner let the waitress pick and she got us all the best stuff. Definitely get an appetizer and a drink, it's so worth it. Last but not least, the owner has such a presence and is truly involved and caring, you can see him being kind to staff and customers and seeing through each part of this magical experience. Try it, try it, try it! It's so worth it!

Yelp
Look, maybe my hopes for Idaho were set too low, but I did NOT expect to find fantastic Puerto Rican food here. I spent a big chunk of my life living in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago and fell in love with jibaritos and maduros and and bacalao, so I was hopeful but not optimistic when someone tipped me off about this place. I was DELIGHTED. Service was zippy, the place was clean, the owner and waitstaff were lovely, and the food was incredible. It's a quick jaunt off the greenbelt if you'd like to walk or ride your bike, otherwise parking is easy. I can't wait for warmer weather: what a treat it'll be to spend a warm evening there with the big doors wide open.

Yelp
Idaho's best kept secret! In town visiting our son and wanted to have food that we can't normally get at home. Wepa Cafe is so good! So good that during our trip we ate here twice Everything is delicious! The Shrimp pastilillos are to die for. The Arroz con Pollo is fluffy briney goodness and the plantains in any form are delightful. Easy to walk to from Whitewater park just a block or two off the greenbelt. Great space and wonderful serv

Yelp
Server (Reagan) was a delight. Very friendly and offered suggestions. Ambiance is delightful. We were disappointed to not sit on the rooftop patio - next time we are in town, we will ask for that upon making a reservation. Easy parking and helpful staff.

Yelp
Consistently, Wepa serves authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. The Pernil, Mofongo, appetizers, all taste authentic and awesome. I've celebrated milestones, birthdays, etc here since they only catered.

Yelp
The food is awful. Fried beyond redemption and oily. The service is half hearted and more interested in closing duties than working tables. I've had better meals at a Maverik gas station. Don't eat here.

Yelp
Fantastic food and celiac safe! I really appreciate their dedicated gluten free fryer, knowledgeable staff and plenty of options! Great ambiance too

Yelp
Had dinner here a few nights ago. I may have just gotten unlucky with my ordering, but the food was quite bad. We ordered the appetizer sampler and the only mildly tasty item were the Alpacurrias. Everything else was overly fried and greasy. My main dish was the Mahi-Mahi and I was barely able to eat any of it - way, waaay overcooked, deep fried to a crisp, and the sauce didn't help either. It's not just that I didn't enjoy the fried food - the Mofongo plantains on the side were like eating cardboard, except cardboard has more taste (normal sweet plantains were good though). I will say the restaurant is very nice, and I think the play here may be to come for a few drinks and maybe get some sweet plantains as an appetizer. If you're planning to eat at Wepa for your main meal though, I'd recommend staying away!
