Best Barbecue Restaurants in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"This lively destination in downtown Chandler serves Tennessee-style barbecue. Ribs are the main event, and not St. Louis-style but good old fatty baby back. Cooked over almond wood in smokers that simulate old-school pits, these ribs are fall-away tender and a bit sweet and tangy from a kiss of vinegar-based sauce. Pork is king here. Pulled, it’s uncommonly juicy. Enjoy it on a platter with other barbecue meats like brisket and turkey, or on a hearty sandwich with bologna and slaw. The bar offers an expansive selection of Tennessee whiskeys, and live music often fills the room." - Chris Malloy

First time entering this establishment and was by far taken by The View and the atmosphere. There is an ambient aura and vibe here. Immediately we were welcome in the most professional and kind manner. BROOKE (BEAUTIFUL AND VIVACIOUS BARTENDER MANAGER) provided outstanding service and made you feel like she valued your business. The food ordered was the Brisket with a side of string beans and baked beans with shredded beef with a cupcake shape cornbread, the second orders was the southern fried fish all you can eat with a side order of Cajun fries! Delectable to say the least. A return visit is definitely in order!!! Live music, plenty of space to sit whether inside or outside, clean restrooms!!! So if you are in town and looking to enjoy your self or with family and friends..come on down to WEST ALLEY BBQ AND SMOKEHOUSE!!! PS...BRING YOUR APPETITE!

This place is clearly a great place to get barbecue. The staff is super friendly. The environment is amazing and the food is absolutely killer. What a great place to visit if you don’t visit this place and you’re doing yourself at the service I will definitely come back here in a heartbeat.

Came the other day with a friend, we love supporting local businesses. Front door was blocked due to the construction and there was no signage, I almost thought it was closed but my friend knew there was a back door so we went around back. Menu was vast and we could smell the smoker going as we sat. I ordered the brisket sandwich and fries and my friend ordered the half pound brisket with fries and beans. Food arrived shortly after ordering. Overall the food was good. The fries were different than pictured on the menu and I’m not a fan of crinkle fries. The meat was tender and a nice mix of juicy and lean brisket. The cornbread that came with the half pound meal was dry and gross- it tasted pretty made and bought in bulk. Coleslaw was trash. It was vinegar based and tasted terrible- I had to spit it out. Crinkle cut fries are also gross.

Google
My wife I order the full rack of ribs and as you pick up the bone the meat fell off Instantly. The mac & cheese was like having the silky smoothest mac & cheese I’ve ever had in my life. Our Server Demetrius was amazing engaging, and very knowledgeable. Without a doubt, I would come back here again and again to try anything else on their menu

I had such a great experience here! The atmosphere was welcoming, and had just the right vibe for a relaxing meal. Whether you’re out with friends or on a date, the ambiance really sets the tone. Our server, Rylee, was absolutely amazing — full of energy, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely made the whole dining experience even better. You can tell she loves her job, and it shows. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food, great service, and a great overall vibe!

Google
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for an early dinner and the food was amazing and our server Demetrius was by far one of the friendliest serves we’ve had in a long time. We had the brisket and bacon dip as a starter and the brisket was melt in your mouth tender. We ordered a slab of rib and two Sides. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and not dry The baked potato was excellent with bacon, sour cream cheese sauce, and chives, and then we got to the ribs. The ribs by far are some of the best I’ve ever had. They literally fell off the bones. Can’t wait to come back.

Food was excellent. Great server attention without being annoying. Food is a tad pricey, but most quality BBQ places are these days. The music polished off the perfect vibe!

I went to watch my family perform on stage, and it was an unforgettable experience! The atmosphere was lively, the food was delicious, and the drinks were spot on. Highly recommend this place for a fun night out!

Yelp
Take that Seacrest! This BBQ is as loud (in a good way) as live music in a small room! Make it a true daily double by ordering way more meat than you can eat! 5 stars

Yelp
We went there one evening, and it was the most horrible experience I've had in the past few years staying here. Given we've gone on high protein, we look for BBQ places and have had amazing BBQ at decent places. Tried this one out as it was close by. It was a Friday and it was LOUD. The live music was okay, but blasting almost giving me a headache. The place was pretty empty for a Friday evening. Lot of tables were empty, that should have been our que, but we were exhausted and wanted to have some good food. Place was dark and only little lighting near the bar area. The food arrived and the brisket and meats was dry to the bone . The only good thing was the corn on the cob because it was douced with butter and herbs. Never again going here. Service was ok and server was polite.

Yelp
Who doesn't love barbecue. Marry that with TVs playing sports or music ....this restaurant is a hidden gem. We were greeted and seated immediately. This place should be packed ...the food is so good... we ordered food to go for dinner. The drinks were OK

Yelp
Normally, if I give a place a bad review, I steer clear of it in the future. However, for reasons I can't quite explain, I decided to give West Alley BBQ another shot - and I'm glad I did! After enjoying a cigar upstairs at Puro, I was hit with a craving for BBQ. Sure, there are plenty of options in the area, but this spot was just too convenient to pass up. Upon entering, I was greeted immediately by a friendly gentleman who told me that I could sit anywhere I liked. Once seated, he quickly returned to take my drink order while I browsed the menu. Shortly after, a cheerful young woman brought my drink and asked if I was ready to order. I couldn't help but think back to my last visit, which didn't go so well - back when I was still married to my now ex-wife. Debating whether to go with the same dish or try something new, I decided to switch it up with a full rack of ribs, potato salad, and fries. While waiting, I checked out the three BBQ sauces on the table--Mild, Hot, and Whiskey. Of course, I had to give them all a try. The Hot sauce, despite the name, was pretty weak. If that's their version of Hot, the Mild might as well be flavored water. The Whiskey sauce had a strange aftertaste, so I stuck with the Hot, though it was more of a "barely warm" kind of deal. The sauces were a letdown the last time I was here, and I was really hoping they'd stepped up their game. Unfortunately, they haven't. C'mon, guys! When the ribs arrived, they looked amazing. The meat fell off the bone - exactly what you want in a good rack of ribs. The fries were equally impressive, lightly seasoned and not overpowering. I've had ribs at places where a rack leaves you feeling just right; here, the portion was generous, and by the end, I was almost uncomfortably full. I had no room for dessert! However, I did order a Loaded Smoked Potato with Brisket to-go, ensuring I had a solid lunch for the next day. Sauces aside, this experience was a complete 180 from my last visit. The food was great, and the service was excellent. My server checked in regularly, and she was always smiling. I'm glad I gave West Alley BBQ a second chance, and I'm already thinking about returning for a tie-breaker visit!

Yelp
I am updating my review because of my last experience here. I went on a Saturday night. I went to the bar to order drinks and the bartender handed me the bill to sign in the black little folding thing, just the receipt and a pen but my card was missing. I signed and handed it back to her and told her my card was missing. She stated she gave it back to me but I knew for sure she did not. She proceeds to tell me I must've dropped it. I tell her there's no way because she never gave it back to me. She shrugs me off and walks off leaving me standing there without my credit card. I walk around to the other side of the bar and I almost missed it but my card was sitting on the back side of the register. I almost missed it. I tell her this is my card and she just starred at me blankly without saying a word. Anyone could have pick up my card and walked off with it. It was the lack of care that disturbed me so much. Cash only from now on at this place so not worth getting your card ripped off.

Yelp
Tonight we had the pleasure of attending an anniversary celebration at West Alley BBQ and Smokehouse. The young lady that waited on our large party was very sweet and provided good service. The band that played was absolutely amazing and had people up out of their seats singing and dancing! The man blowing that horn in the band was absolutely incredible! Loved, Loved, the band. We would come back for the ambiance as it was electric!

Yelp
The moment we turned down Boston Street, we could smell the BBQ. Service was very friendly! The meat was tender and fell off the bone, but the best was the catfish! We came here for lunch, but want to come back for some ol' school R&B when there's a band performing.

Yelp
Shout out to "DRAKE" the guy who serviced me like, I was the "cool kid" in the place. I think my vibes come off friendly which is why humans gravitate to me, honestly. I'm cool Drake, out of the blue, told me that, he was going to service me and treat me like I was his VIP customer, and he did just that!!! Respectfully! My pals and I, were able to order right away for everything that we wanted, and everything came out, to us freshly made. I personally think that, his peer Luina, turned into a pure "mean girl", because, of the attention and gratitude that was given to Drake by most of us patrons. Luina definitely came for me and was UNPROFESSIONAL about it!!! I asked Drake to cash us out before he left, because we wanted to make sure that, he got the tip since he provided great customer service. Later on, in the night, his coworker Luina, came up to me accusing me of not paying and thankfully, I showed her my receipt. She screamed at me, asking me where the "signed" receipt was, as if I knew. It was like WHAT? I was like "um, I only have this receipt"... showing her my receipt. Thank God I kept my receipt, as I usually don't. ‍ She was a pure BULLY MEAN HUMAN, with a horrible attitude. If you don't like your job, find one that better suits you gal. Sheesh!!! I literally was chill and calm because, it's Juneteenth and I was being respectful of this day. I've also learned that, through therapy, to relax and also through "YELP" that, I can professionally voice my opinion and let others to be aware professionally, on here. My group of Friends kept calming me down when they seen my face talk...lol. It was her approach that made me think that, I ...coulda, woulda, shoulda (called the owner on her). Girl, play with someone else! ‍ ‍ It's not our fault, that you came to work with a bad attitude and your peer was honored more, because of his AWESOME service. Back to the story... Luina aka Karen... then proceeded to march so fast and hard... that the floor shook, over to a boss, to tell on me. Lmao Luinas boss dude, came over to me, and same thing ... asked to see my receipt. I showed him my receipt in which, he compared it to a record keeping thingy. The boss human, then proceeded to apologize to me for the behavior of his peer and was very nice about it . The boss human explained that Drake forgot to close me out after he charged me. Although, this had nothing to do with me of what an employee did or didn't do, at least this fella was professional about it. Thanks Sir Wth... was up with this Luina chick man!!! One of my friends felt bad for this chick and tipped her. I'm thinking: REALLY FRAN aka(Friend) Luiana was lucky that i pushed my chair in, after we left! Ha! I suggest getting more employees like Drake and none like Luina aka Karen, she is in need of training BIG TIME!!! I'M SO happy and BLESSED to have been able to tip Drake graciously and I hope he gets it all! (The petty me) I SHOULD'VE MARCHED OVER AS A "PATRON KAREN "AND, TOLD THE "OWNER" ON HER, but again, it was a GREAT DAY, TO HAVE A GREAT DAY! #JUNETEENTH BTW . They had a nice crowd, a great fun DJ (who kept telling any guys who would come to talk to me, to get away from me and, that he was my cousin... which was hilarious). The establishment offered free wine tasting in 2 different areas, as well as, there was a full menu served! There's also a cigar bar upstairs There's construction going on, in front but it didn't stop this party. It was a fun evening until Karen aka Luina attempted to ruin it! Thanks Drake, for your services!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but I must say that I was really disappointed. It started with the Cosmo that I ordered. When I think of a Cosmo, I think of one that has a pinkish color to it with lime in it. The bartender made one for me and it was Ruby red with lemon. He did remake it for me, which was very nice, but it still really did not taste like a Cosmo. Then I ordered the fish platter. Perhaps it was my fault for just thinking that I was going to get fried catfish. Instead, they use some type of catfish from Vietnam, which has me greatly concerned. I cook a lot and I'm always very cognizant of where my fish come from. If it comes from Taiwan, China, Vietnam, I'm always a little skeptical because their standards are not the standards of the United States. Anyway, whatever this fish was I really did not enjoy it. I don't really even like tilapia, but I would have preferred tilapia to this Vietnamese fish. It wasn't that meaty and I just didn't enjoy it. I did enjoy the brisket beans! They were excellent. Overall, though I didn't enjoy my meal. In addition, I was talking to a gentleman at the bar and he said he did not like their barbecue either. He said the ribs were very dry. I hadn't been here since pre-Covid and I remember when I came during that time I was not impressed with the food. I was hoping that they would have improved, but I'm not really sure that they have. It's a shame because I was looking forward to coming here and enjoying the atmosphere and the food. The service was very good, but the food has a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Brooklyn recommended the queso and brisket dip. It was delicious.. great service great price and delicious. I will be back again and again thanks Brooklyn.

Yelp
Soulful Sunday....this band is everything!!! They played some smooth jazz and R&B, while we enjoyed some Loaded Brisket Fries and beer. Service was great, as always. It's a bonus that Sunday Night Football was on all the tv's too. Perfect way to wind down the weekend.....

Yelp
We came in with a large party and every one of us enjoyed the delicious meal and excellent customer service! We shared the family platter and loved the variety of sides you could choose from. My favorite was the bbq ribs! Fell right off the bone and the sauces were all very tasty! Thank you for a great meal today!

Yelp
If you're looking for a fun late night vibe in DTC that's not country this is your place! Definitely a "come as you are vibe" with all walks of people. Riley was our server/bar girl and she was AMAZING. Never had an empty glass or beer in hand the whole night and woah does this girl know how to sell her drinks!! The witty way she describes the drinks "tickling your tongue and down your throat" I'd buy anything she's selling

Yelp
I ended up at this restaurant by chance recently with some co-workers. They were able to accommodate our large party quickly and service was definitely a positive of our visit. Our group ended up ordering a sampling of apps from their menu to share. Everything came out fresh and hot, however, it seemed that most of the food was overly salted.

Yelp
Began my Sunday afternoon at the bar. The bartender was great! Gave me suggestions and made friendly small talk. My drink was absolutely yummy! There are lots of mixed drink options. Later, was seated once my friend arrived. We both ordered baked potatoes. They were huge! The meat was delicious. The potato was perfectly cooked. Loved it! We spent around $50 for two potatoes and two drinks. It's a bit pricey for a Sunday lunch. It was definitely tasty and I'd definitely go back. There are tons of menu items that I look forward to trying. I've also heard it's a great night spot. So, I'm looking forward to hanging out with friends, listening to music and checking out another downtown Chandler nightlife option.

Yelp
The feeling of neglect has settled in. I'm trying to understand how patrons in my same area are getting attention and service prior to my table. We actually went to get a server and still the other table was serviced first. Very disappointing. I did enjoy the live band. I'm just going to exit the building .

Sonj F.

Yelp
I recently went back as a guest for a friend's party and the customer service has improved tremendously!

Yelp
Dined-10/20/23 Been here for the live music & decided to come in early to actually try the food. We had the Fish Platter & the Combo Platter (fish & brisket). The catfish filets were a great size, THICK & the seasoned breading was super tasty! The brisket on the combo platter was nicely smoked & melted in my mouth as it was well BBQ'd but just a tad bit dry vs being a little juicy but overall it was still tasty. They have a live band Thur-Sun starting at 7:30p so keep that in mind if you go a little later in the day. Our server Kimberly was great! Great customer service & very personable. Plan to return to try the catfish bites or a Po Boy (or both. lol).

Angela M.

Yelp
Server Rylee was amazing!! The live music and ambience was so good! It was a great time, will be back!!

Missy N.

Yelp
I have tried so much BBQ smokehouses and this is the worst we've had the food is terrible and dry the corn is over cooked no flavor just a lot of Cajun spice they didn't even try to make it taste good! The service is bad you'd think with all the food we ordered they'll offer to refill your drink nope not even that. The pork wasn't good and the ribs wasn't good they said they make it fresh everyday I highly doubt that! I wouldn't recommend this place
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
The service was good, and the music was definitely Memphis blues but brisket at the best. Lots of white fat, no smoke ring and over cooked. I spoke to the manager he blamed it on catering and too much meat on the smoker
google avatar

Pia H.

Yelp
This place was a BLAST; has great food (the fried catfish was better than mine)___and that is saying a whole lot! The drinks are fairly priced. The music makes you want to to "get off your ass and jam!" My only ("constructive") criticism is they seriously need to invest in a decent, audible sound system with no distortion. The sound system is absolutely terrible! This issue takes the establishment down in rank, and it nearly impossible to LISTEN and reminisce to the incredible collection of "Old School" and "Throwback" jams the DJ is playing. Other than that, I really liked this place.
google avatar

Wicke T.

Yelp
Don't come here unless you're ready for some crazy loud music , also came during people doing a bar crawl, which was a little crazy also but the brisket was one of the best and my dad agreed , will be back
google avatar

Kyndel C.

Yelp
Update: I decided to give this place a second chance since my friend wanted to go for her birthday. I must say that I was pleased with the overall experience this time. The environment and music is such a bonus but to have good food and service is what makes a restaurant topnotch. I tried their fish this time, which could use just a tad more seasoning but all the other meats are delicious! We actually got the same waitress as before and she was amazing. It was much busier than than last but she was attentive to our table and friendly. I will definitely make this a place to go more frequently.

Yelp
Wife and I went for the Prince tribute band last night. Such a fun, nicely decorated place! Great patios as well. Our server, Michael, was over the top amazing! Super fun and friendly guy. He made our night even better. The DJ after the band was amazing as well! Some of the best 80's 90's R&B and hip hop mixed. Kept the party vibe going for everyone. So many good songs from our era. We will definitely come back again just for the music! The food was ok, probably try something else next time. Brisket was good, small portion though for the price. Sides were very small and average. Cornbread was hard, cold and dry. Not sure if that is how it is supposed to be.

Yelp
Maybe they were having a bad night... Not recommended I was in the neighborhood, with a hankering for BBQ, so I decided to give West Alley BBQ and Smokehouse a try. It was "memorable" enough that I decided to write my first review in a long time. Food: The menu is interesting, with a variety of meats served as platters, sandwiches, salads and more. I decided on the brisket plate, which included two sides and a corn muffin. For my sides I chose the Creamy Slaw and Brisket Beans. The slaw was crisp, creamy, and flavorful. The Brisket Beans were also very good. Honestly these were the high points of the meal, and it was downhill from there. The corn muffin was extremely dry and crumbly. It might have worked just fine in a bowl, smothered with chilli, but on its own it was basically inedible. It wasn't even served with a pat of butter, which would have helped. Alas, the brisket, which should have been the best part of the meal, definitely was not. Other reviewers rave about the moist brisket, but mine was not moist or fatty at all, it was *extremely *dry. I ordered the "hot" BBQ sauce to accompany the brisket, and if not for the sauce I would not have been able to eat the dry brisket. Cost: $23.99 + tax, which is one of the more expensive items on the menu. Considering the issues with my meal this was not a good value. Service: The server did a fine job, no complaints there. Atmosphere: Kind of funky and fun. A nice place to hang out. Overall: Considering the quality of my meal and the high price, I was very disappointed and will not return.

Yelp
Looking for a new BBQ place ... this is it, when you walk in you just smell the bbq and the smoke from the food ... so good, had me hooked before I even sat down. The pulled pork bbq sandwich so good, you get your choice of 3 different bbq sauce to mix & match. I miked the mild with the whiskey ... omg. The manger & staff, super helpful & entertaining... 1st time in, will be back again to try the menu.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. The BBQ was very, very good. The bartender was a nice guy and they had brisket for a late comer.. The patrons were all friendly. I had a cigar and Bourbon at Puro's upstairs. And some BBQ and a beer before back to hotel. A good day.

Brian S.

Yelp
Only have had "take out" A favorite go to spot. Next time I'm going to enjoy try he live music. New Year's Eve looked like an awesome time. Everything delish

Yelp
I held a political event at West Alley BBQ and Smokehouse last night and I highly recommend! The food was great, everyone was pleased. More than that, the hospitality is top notch. The staff are accommodating and friendly. The GM, Tom, is easy to work with and helpful. Since we were hosting many attendees, we ordered from the catering menu. It was easy and straightforward with no surprises or last minute charges or fees. I've been here for many events and we are always comfortable in this laid back, casual environment. I'll be back!

Yelp
The ambiance is great with silhouette playing. Amazing band. Food: lack flavor, the ribs have no taste as well as other entrées, drinks are soooooo watered down. A margarita tastes like bad lemonade. If they improve the food this would be a great place to come and enjoy a good meal. All in all I would give the food a 3, entertainment a 10++

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out West Alley BBQ for sometime now, and finally checked it off my list. Not too far off the main drag. Dog friendly patio. They have an indoor stage for live music. We decided to sit at the bar. The bar seating has a great view of everything. We were practically the only ones there. We started with the brisket and Mac n cheese roll appetizer. Then for our entre ordered a two meat combo with chicken, brisket and a smoked sausage on the side. Our sides were potato salad and baked beans. The rolls were good. I personally think they were in need a dash of salt. The rolls had great flavor... they were even better once you added some BBQ sauce. The food was a bit overrated. The brisket was amazing, pure perfection. The chicken was good. The potato salad was not homemade it tasted like Reisers, the one you find at the grocery store. Baked beans were tasty and had a sprinkle of brisket on top. The sausage was very disappointing. When ordering they told us they would give us half a sausage. OK great they did not tell us it would be sliced and dry like hockey pucks. The barbecue sauces were tasty... But the hot one wasn't really that hot. Our server/bartender was overly attentive to the point it was annoying. Hovering every moment takes away from the atmosphere. I would probably come back during your cooler months to see what kind of music they have.

Yelp
BBQ ain't cheap anymore ;) Never thought I'd be paying so much for wings and meat! I'm not going to quite say it was worth the $$, at least not until Arizona pays a living wage, but the wings were perfection. My partner asked for extra saucy, so it was saucier than I like, but that's not at fault of the restaurant. The wings really outshined everything else, but my partner wanted to mention the sausage was perfect. We did get the Big Alley Style Plate to share, which was not dry and the sauces went well with it. Service was great, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. We aren't heavy on day drinking, but I have to say a beer instead of pop would compliment the meet much better.

Yelp
Just OK bbq place. We came here once during the early pandemic, got takeout, and our sauce containers melted under the heat lamps, so I wanted to wait to give a more honest review until we physically dined in. The service was incredible. Tanner was really friendly and made the experience more enjoyable. The restaurant itself is very inviting, and they often have live music! My husband and I both shared our dishes - I had the loaded smoked potato with brisket. It was huge! It's a good idea in theory, but it just wasn't well-executed. The brisket had hardly any flavor, and the melted cheese had a film on top of it. Everything was luke warm. Our food came out really quickly, so I figured it was made fresh. The sauces were really the only saving grace for the potato. The sauces are all made in-house too, which is pretty cool! My husband got the shrimp po boy, which was pretty tasty. The seasoned fries were yummy as well. Overall, our experience was a mixed bag, but there were other items on the menu we'd like to try, so we may or may not return.

Nate T.

Yelp
I will most definitely be back here! It was my first time coming here and enjoyed every part of it. To make it the absolute best our server Chloe was showed she was a valuable asset to the establishment. Not only was she was informative of the menu she actually made some good suggestions. Despite being very busy on a Saturday night she still was very attentive to our large table on the patio.

Yelp
My sister loves this place and we decided to give it a go after the Music for the Culture festival that was close by. We arrived around 9:00pm on Saturday night and the music was already going. The band was phenomenal! The singer sung really well and sung all different genres of music. Everyone was up dancing and having a great time. We ordered Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings, Loaded Smoke Brisket Fries, Loaded Smoked Brisket Nachos and BBQ Jim Dandy Sandwich. Everything was very, very good and seasoned well. They put a lot of meat on all of the dishes. The only thing I didn't like was how fine the brisket was chopped. It was over chopped to the point I was moving it out of the way of the fries. Also, the potato salad was weirdly sweet. Although I'm not a fan of queso, I know....cardinal sin......I like how it was on the bottom of the plate of fries and not drenched all across the top. Service was mediocre but the server did explain "she was doing it all." We'd definitely be back for the atmosphere and food. Get there early because they do fill up. We got the last table when we arrived.

Manuela R.

Yelp
will did a good job!! five stars seriously!! food is soo goood!hands down i recommend it. .

Ryan L.

Yelp
This place smells like an ashtray. Came in for dinner and the place was empty. That should have been a clue to go somewhere else. The tables are sticky, flies all over the place and the food was terrible. Ribs were very dry, same with the brisket. Only good thing was the service. Won't be returning.

Yelp
I really enjoy great barbeque, but was highly disappointed. Upon entering this small establishment, the band was too loud for this venue. With narrow walls, the music echoed loudly and we had to talk loudly, as if in a bar. Band was good, but needed to adjust for the size of the place. Food smelled great but the ribs were overcooked. Not dry by any means, but the outside crust was perfect while the inside meat was almost mushy. However the smoked brisket bacon dip was fantastic! Extremely limited beer selection.

Yelp
We stopped by to check this place out... we were the first ones in for lunch and greeted right away... the space is pretty spacious with outside patio... we ordered the chicken with fries and corn Nashville hot chicken... both were good but wished the portions for the chicken was bigger.. and the Nashville hot chicken could have been spicer lol.. but overall the service was great and be back to try more items on their menu

Yelp
Have had really good ribs here in the past. Today was the worst. Check your food when ordering checkout. I ordered a slab of ribs to go today, and did not check my package before leaving. Got home to 3 sections of the most disgusting dried out old tasting ribs. If they were going to give me old ribs, they could have at least gave me a full slab, which is what I paid for. DO BETTER West Alley. Consistency is key!

Yelp
After visiting this establishment on three different occasions, I've come to the conclusion that this place is falsely advertising themselves as a BBQ joint. Their menu claims to have an assortment of meats (until sold out) but they neverrrrrr have any. They don't even feature the BBQ on the menu. It's just a bunch of bar food with sprinkles of greasy bacon - which they referred to as brisket . It turns into a nightclub at night, so after a few drinks and you're gone three sheets to the wind, the food may help sober you up.

Yelp
We were so excited to try the brisket, however when our combo plate arrived, the brisket was sliced with the grain. This is a sure fire way to serve a stringy flavorless piece of brisket. Everyone knows to slice against the grain. When we asked to speak to the mgr or pit master, he never showed up. Apparently, the pit master who spends hours smoking meat would allow it served in this manner. A horrible rendition of BBQ in our minds. Good luck to you all who venture in. BTW - the pork rinds were excellent, and so was Brook the bartender!

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! My fiancé & I were looking for a new bbq spot to try for the Super Bowl. I found West Alley because I was trying to dodge the traffic in Phoenix. This restaurant is extremely lowkey, provided friendly service & I am impressed. I met the owner who gave me some extra Tennessee Whiskey bbq to go. I had the pulled bbq chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad & brisket beans. My fiancé had the brisket plate with mac & stream beans. Everything was tasty. They have happy hour everyday from 3-7p and the DJ plays all the hip hop we like. We totally recommend & will be back!

Yelp
Saturday Happy Hour was amazing and the bartenders were so nice and funny. We came for Happy Hour but came back that night and they remembered us! The DJ was great as well!

Yelp
So today was my first time visiting and I'm very disappointed and disgusted. We were the only customers in there and someone at the bar. My server was amazing btw. Food was really bad. Tables were sticky. Decent decor in restaurant nothing special may look better at night and hide all the dirt! Brisket was dry ASF, macaroni was not hot and it was gross, green beans were warmer than anything on the plate but they tasted like they were cooked in dish water. Cornbread was ice cold. Moscow mule wasn't my favorite but they did explain that they used a different ginger beer but it was still very flat even after he brought me the can. I didn't finish any of the drink and was still charged for it. I do NOT recommend them at all and that's unfortunate.

Yelp
tonight was an absolute fever dream... we sit down and the atmosphere was already off and weird. first, we had the cook come from the back of house (short black lady) who kept touching my husband and was correcting our orders for us even though we were reading off the menu??? turns out she wasn't even supposed to be taking our order. she pretty much was saying that the menu was wrong and she was right. so confusing!!! then, two "musicians" take to the stage. my husband and i could barely hear ourselves think from the loud, awful, and off-pitch noise that was coming from the stage. the two didn't even know each other or the songs they were playing lol it was very clear that it was a random duo put together with no planned set list. such a weird and uncomfortable night but kyra, the bartender saved our date night!!! she was so sweet & made sure that we were taken care of. the food was AMAZING but the service does not match at all. thank you kyra for your beautiful service and personality, it made the night so much better.

Yelp
Great food, live music is always a win for me. The restaurant shape/size itself is a little off only because it's a rectangular shaped restaurant so viewing the front stage has limited seating. The restaurant sits underneath a CIGAR BAR unfortunately so the mixed odor of bbq and cigars isn't ideal for a women's hair or clothing to absorb. The portions are on the smaller size but the flavor is good. This is a casual spot so I think dressing casual is fine here. Overall a fun evening, but good to know these little details IMO.
