It’s a good farmers market. Smaller than some, but it has enough stands with fruits, veggies, baked goods, and more. Good variety in the summer. Not much happening in winter though.

My experience here is that the shopping setup makes seeing what's available very simple. On good days, there are numerous tents up and the variety is good. There's fruit and vegetable tents, baked goods, custom made leather accessories (sometimes), a coffee truck, boutique-type clothing, composing station, and more. The parking situation is first come street parking, although we've been fortunate to have parking available when we arrive. The location is set in an open space that can become quite hot on a sunny day, and by quite hot, I mean your dog will need shade and water to rest hot. I've seen a few people with sun burns that didn't even know they had one yet. The pricing varies, it's not cheap, and some things can be very expensive, but others are worth it to me. It's truly subject to what you think is a good value. The supermarket may be cheaper and have greater variety and availability, but there will be organic microgreens at the farmers market you can buy that day for a decent price. I will take people's word if they tell me they're selling organic fruit and vegetables, but I truly don't know, which is why I'm giving this 4 stars. My experience here otherwise it's usually good. Don't forget, bring your own bag, and yes, the compost station will give you a small container for composting.

Google
One of my favorite farmers market in Northern Virginia! I look forward to spring because I know the farmers market is returning. I enjoy seeing returning and new vendors. This is one of the only places where I get to talk to the people that actually produce the food I eat - bread, cakes, cheese, peaches (!!), freshly popped popcorn, pop tarts, pies. There's just too many of my favorite things to count. Parking is plentiful as it's in the local park, or if you live nearby in Cameron Station or Wakefield-Tarleton, you can just walk on over. Bring your own bags and totes to carry back all your purchases.

Google
Nice market and for the surrounding area it is a nice option over the old towne marke, although west end markets a much smaller. Mainly produce but there are options for baked goods, meats, jams, pickles, coffee, tshirts, pet toys, popcorn, honey, soaps, and more.

Google
A good variety of vendors. The produce vendors always have very fresh items. Dog friendly. I love taking my dog here for a Sunday morning walk. Lots of vendors have water bowls and give out dog treats.

Google
This morning, my husband and I went to the the West End Farmers Market. We were able to get fresh, local asparagus, spring onions, arugula, salad greens and some potted plants from F. J. Medina & Sons Farm; apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and apple cider from Papa’s Orchard; flowers from Randy; and fresh bread from one of the baked goods vendors.

Amazing selection of goods and great vibe

Yelp
Lovely farm market that's open on Sundays and pet-friendly. The park is gorgeous, parking isn't an issue and the farm and vendor selections are superb. It's a great experience and worth the drive if you're coming from MD or DC. Coffee, farm goodies, live music, baked goodies, crafts/arts, juice, plants, and so much more. You'll find it here. In closing, you get what you pay for. If we don't support local farms and businesses they won't exist and our only options will be hand picked for us. It's a farm market so you will see vendors selling similar items..... because it's a farm market :) Vote with your dollars support the local economy.

Yelp
I really enjoy the seasonal vegetables and the quality of the food here. There's something new almost every week and for a decent price

Yelp
This is right in Cameron Station and it's fun to just walk over and buy very good quality eggs. The flower guy is a hoot and I'd rather give him business than a big grocery store when I can. The market is Dog friendly and kid friendly.

Yelp
I'm a fan of the West End Farmers Market, located at the end of the Cameron Station community by Brenman Park. You can find vendors who sell handmade soap, jewelry, candles, stationery, glassware, pottery pieces, toys, wood pieces, clothing, various homegoods, and specialty food items. The Beatley librarians come every 3rd Sunday of the month to sell used books for $1 and to share their upcoming events. Other non-profit organizations and government agencies set-up tent to discuss their services. I love that this farmers market is so nearby - I tend to pick up the Uzbek baked pastries from Zilo's, as the mushroom one is totally my favorite! Since it's outside, you can bring your furry friend to accompany you! Plenty of parking along Brennan Park Drive. +held at Ben Brenman Park, by Cameron Station +Sundays, May through October +plenty of free parking

Yelp
Overall ok. I agree with some reviews things are overpriced. I'd love to get everything there but just not enough stalls. I thought del ray farmers market has better prices. The Baltimore farmers market is phenomenal. One of the reasons that I miss living in Baltimore. I'd literally buy all my produce there. This farmer market is better than 4 mile run farmers market but still whole foods seems like a better use of my time. I ended up getting heirloom tomatoes, basil, bell peppers (75 cents each or 3 for $2, probably the deal of the day) and yellow beans. Many stalls didn't have produce labeled which is annoying.

Yelp
This is my third season coming to the West End Market with husband, and we.seriously. looooooove this spot. So much so that it's pretty much usurped Del Ray as our preferred weekend Market. Of course, we still hit Del Ray on Saturday, but Sunday's West End Market is the highlight of the market weekend. On the Gourmet, FJ Medina and Sons Farm, Herbal Curio (new this season, and soooo awesome!), The Dressed Up Nut, Great Harvest, SHF Creations, Vera's Bakery, the divine hand-squeezed lemonade folks, and the wonderful woman on the end who sells unusual, primo market goods from garlic scapes to squash blossoms. The vendors here have become like a seasonal family to us; they're gracious and wonderful, remember us week-to-week and season-to-season, and are a wealth of knowledge. Sad to have lost Guata Java this season, but happy to have gained half an hour. Yup, the market now opens at 8:30 instead of 9:00! Happy marketing.

Yelp
The market has a variety of A+ vendors that provide goods at reasonable prices and service with a smile. One vendor provided me with change of a $20.00 so I could shop around and enjoy all the farmer's market has to offer and another vendor gave me free sunflowers even before I made a purchase. I would definitely go back and I would recommend you do as well. The one downside is that it closes in two weeks.

Yelp
More like 3.5 stars. Ok, there are some things I LOVE about this market, but at the same time, I expect more out of a farmer's market. The Glows: + Beautiful location. The parks, the surrounding apartments, the ponds, the green grass. It's absolutely beautiful. I can see myself buying some veggies and then going to find a spot on a field and have a picnic. It was a beautiful day and the place was just brilliant. + There's a man that plays the guitar and sings and it's really cute. Haha, I never went to a market that has entertainment too. Speaking of entertainment, there is also a tent with river dancers advertising classes. Sometimes they perform a little dance and that's cute. + I think it's a great place to take your kids to and your dogs. So many people walk their dogs in the area and go pick up some food. It's a really quaint little market. The Grows: The things I think could make this market better is the size. It's really a small small local market. It's very much one row of vendors, ranging from veggies to cupcakes to some handmade stuff. The options were not that great and I would argue I have seen better prices. I also did not think the veggies and fruits looked amazing. Compared to some other fantastic markets I have been to that had lots of samples and options and variety, I just feel like this market was lacking. I think it's a perfectly fine little local market but it's not my go to market because I know other ones that are bigger and with more options. If you live in the area though, I recommend it.

Yelp
I know I'm such a buzz kill b/c I rated this farmers market 3 stars but coming from the Bay Area where farmers markets are huge and offer a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, this one one pales in comparison. It's nice and quaint. It works for me in that I can get in and out of this farmers market in 30 min. with baby in tow and with a list. The vendors pretty much sell the same thing - not much difference in price between them. Aside from the fresh fruits and veggies, they sell apparel, accessories, pastries, lemonade, nuts, and preserves. It's a nice location. Parking is easy.

Yelp
Love the fact that this market is on a Sunday, and begins at 9:00..... No rush to wake and get there super early, which is what I used to do on Saturday's to attend other markets. See Tom!!! Amish cheeses, super fresh eggs (yes, there is a WORLD of difference)- off the hook pecan rolls, fresh bread and butter pickles, and fresh homemade yogurts. The yogurts are like none other... The majority of my shopping is w/ him-- but the whole market is cool. Last truck on left, On the G, had amazing small batch pint ice creams with new flavors all the time! And of course the produce. Something new each visit. Makes my week to stock up here.

Yelp
A farmer's market after my own heart - open until 1pm when folks like me have emerge from their cocoons at a civilized hour. It allows me to have all the goodness a farmers market brings without making me cheat on my fluffy pillow. The West End market is a splendid choice for stocking up on some fresh items for the week ahead. I often walk away with a brimming bag full of onions, green beans, cauliflower, eggplant, tomatoes, lettuces & cheese. Its not a very big market but there is a nice variety and balance with 4-5 produce vendors, a cheese seller, a guy with wonderful fresh pastas, 3-4 folks with bakery items (including Great Harvest Bread Co), and a few craft/jewelry/non-food people (and certainly better balance than the craft market the city hall farmers market has become). By far my favorites though the Maple Ave Market Truck with its wonderful sausages, fresh eggs, etc... and The Dressed Up Nut (I have a slight addiction to their garlic peanuts). Several of the vendors appear at other area markets on Saturday but this is my local farmers market and I simply love the hours and easy parking. My only wish was that the market was open for a longer season. It closes in November (which is ok) but doesn't open until May each year so I have to go elsewhere 6 months of the year and would love to be able to get the bounty spring brings here instead.
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
The West End Farmers' Market is located in Cameron Station off of Duke Street. The market is open 9 am to 1 pm each Sunday from May to November. On most weekends, there are several vendors selling seasonal produce, and one or two selling baked goods, gourmet food items, coffee, and even art. In overall vendor size. I would say that this market is smaller than the one in Old Town, and about the same size as the one in Del Rey. I like this market because it offers an alternative to people that aren't able to get to the Del Rey or Old Town markets on Saturday. Also, parking is not a problem like it can be at the other two markets, so that is nice.

Yelp
My favorite farmers' market in the area! Run to get a berry scone from Vera's Bakery, sip down a fair-trade Guata Java iced coffee, learn to can and get a cookie from the Eden Good ladies, go see Scamper Doodle for homemade dog treats (because your furbaby deserves to eat well too) & cool hand tooled tags, get two or three bags from The Dressed Up Nut for afternoon munchies. More good finds: cupcakes, a pirate iced tea and fresh squeezed lemonade or orange juice, squash blossoms at the vendor on the end, peppers in the middle, and tomatoes on the other end. Remember your bag (or two!) you might score some fresh fruit and other veggies will undoubtedly catch your eye.

Yelp
My favorite farmers market by far for two main reasons: because I can take my dog there and all the vendors are soooo friendly! While on the smaller side, it doesn't really matter because you can typically find whatever you are looking for (fresh mozzarella, scones, produce, herbs, meats, eggs, dog treats and more!). The hours are great and everyone is super friendly to our dog, its a great socialization outing for him (it stinks that more farmers markets do not allow dogs, but we're so happy that this one does!) This is my husbands and my standard Sunday morning outing to get our day started off on the right foot, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
I was really excited when the West End Farmers Market opened up next to the Cameron Station neighborhood, and this year is the first year that it's actually come Into its own. We now go to this market for almost all of our weekly grocery shopping. Some favorites: the orchard about halfway back on the right side, featuring free samples of delicious peaches and other fruits; Uptown Bakery, a local favorite with good prices that sells to local restaurants; and the florist who gives out free samples and has amazing prices compared go our local florists. My only complaint is that, although most of the merchants are pretty consistent from week to week, I don't always know who is going to be at the market on a particular day. I think the organizers of the WEFM should set up a website or Twitter feed or something to let people know what's happening that week at the market. (They do have a blog, but it's not updated frequently enough to be useful.) But, all in all, I'm really happy to have access to this local, sustainable alternative to shopping at Safeway.

Yelp
One of the only dog friendly farmers markets I've ever seen! That's a big plus for me. It's not enormous but there are plenty of vendors to make it worthwhile. I purchased some fruits and vegetables and delicious Ethiopian coffee. It's also in a nice area with a lake and near trails. Most vendors accepted credit cards which was convenient for me. I went about an hour before closing time, and while I was able to find everything that I wanted to purchase, some vendors were running low and selling out of popular items. This is definitely one I'll return to though!

Yelp
I went for the first time yesterday and used my $7 for $14 work of food Yelp coupon. It was later in the day (about 12:30) and a few of the folks had started closing up shop (I get it - it was hot and pretty slow). There were some cute children's clothing vendors, a marshmallow lady, cookies, cheese, fresh juices, scones, bread, coffee, vegetables (zucchini, squash, tomatoes, basil, potatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, etc.), and berries (blueberries and blackberries. The coupon was easy to use and it's close to our home. It's in the middle of a parking lot so it gets hot later in the morning and day so go early. It's in a park but doesn't feel as farmer-markety as the one in Del Ray. My major reason for the three rating is the lack of organic vendors (the children's clothing was made with organic cotton and dyes). :(

Denise R.

Yelp
I had low expectations for this farmer's market but if you live near by it's a fun little farmer's market. There's a little of everything the usual fruit, vegetables, baked goods, plants, flowers and some information tables that pertain to the area. Because it's next to a park it's great for people with kids or people who want to do a quick run. I walked but it didn't seem like parking would be a problem.

Yelp
I love this farmers' market! We purchased all of our produce here all last summer and fall. The hours are great (open until 1pm, unlike the Old Town Farmers' Market, which closes at 10:30!) and the selection is good. Not enormous, but perfect for a neighborhood market. My only complaint is that they don't open until May in the spring! I'm dying for some fresh local produce. Can't wait to get back to my summer Sunday morning run & market routine.

Dia S.

Yelp
PROS The location is good, nice park around it, plenty of parking space, restrooms close by which come in handy especially if you plan to spend some time walking around or if you have kids. CONS I agree with Jen S - I have been to several farmers markets in the country and this one does indeed pale in comparison. Not much variety in terms of vegetables. NO fruits that I could see. NOT one vendor selling organic. Prices are identical to what whole foods would sell and that too for LOCAL, ORGANIC. I don't work for whole foods and do feel they are pricey but anyway. Bottom line - nothing special, but not bad if you are in the area.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Small market but has what you need. Generally three / four produce stands, two / three meat and cheese stands, smaller bakery and coffee stands and knick knacks. Occasionally a food truck and portable hair salon as well.
google avatar

Constance G.

Yelp
This is a new Farmer's Market that is open on Sunday mid morning to mid afternoons, at Ben Brenman park , at Cameron Station off of Duke Street. Lots of interesting things to check out. You can buy something to eat, and sit on a park bench, weather permitting!
google avatar

Mia N.

Yelp
I was expecting more vendors. There is one stand that serves Amish goods, and my husband loved the pepper mayo we bought. Then we bought good Fuji apples. It was ok, but I suppose I was expecting a festival with more variety, and there wasn't. My first farmer's market.
google avatar

J P.

Yelp
This place has so much potential that I really want to give it more stars. But, the things missing for me were the lack of organic produce and variety of vendors. If they work on that, I will be back.
google avatar

Nico L.

Yelp
I wish they had a few more vendors but this place is great for picking up produce and other food for the week if you are small family of 1 or 2 people.
google avatar

Andrew Y.

Yelp
I am going to miss this until next year. All the vendors are nice and brings such a community feel to the area. When my friends make fun of me for living in west Alexandria I mention to them that I live at a wonderful safe area that makes me feel like a community.

Laura T.

Yelp
I love this market! We live in Cameron Station which is the adjoining neighborhood and it's a friendly small to mid-size market that serves Alexandria's West End. The market managers tell me that they have a lot of activities planned for the season (August - November) and kicked off the season last week with a professional storytelling session. If you want to support small businesses without the parking hassle and big crowds, then I would recommend this market. Every Sunday from dawn until 12pm.
