The Best Onion Burgers in Oklahoma City and El Reno | Eater

"A longtime downtown spot open since 1946, this place serves thicker-than-average onion burgers that stay improbably juicy; thin, heavily charred onion strings pile atop a char-grilled patty, hand-grated cheese melts over the meat, and the oversized onion rings make the meal unabashedly onion-forward." - Amy McCarthy

Where to Drink Espresso Martinis in Boston This Winter | Eater

"Right down the street from TD Garden, West End Johnnie’s restaurant and bar pinch-hits as a sports memorabilia museum. Owner John Caron once worked as the facilities manager at Fenway Park, and his collection — which includes original lockers, seats from the baseball stadium, and countless autographed athletes’ photos — is a veritable who’s-who of Boston sports history. The spot buzzes on game days and during the weekly Sunday “reggae brunch,” where espresso martinis are served alongside classic dishes like corned beef hash and eggs benedict." - Molly McDonough

Decent cocktail menu, pub feel with a nice restaurant edge too, meatballs app great, fish and chips great with crispy batter. Good pre-game bar.

This review is for the Family Guy Experience event hosted at West End Johnnie’s. Unfortunately, it felt rushed and poorly planned, as if it were thrown together at the last minute. There was nothing particularly unique or memorable about it, and overall, it lacked the creativity and attention to detail you’d expect from something tied to such a well-known show. The food was just okay—not enough to justify the cost or make up for the lackluster experience. If the organizers want this to succeed, they really need to put more thought and care into the execution. Right now, it’s just not worth your time or money.

We visited their speakeasy, and it was an absolute blast! The drinks were wonderfully nostalgic, transporting us back in time. It’s definitely a must-try if it’s still available—an unforgettable experience!

Google
Great place to go before a game. We started with the calamari. Tasty, but the bruschetta with burrata and prosciutto was next level - awesome! We both had the sirloin tips next. Perfect execution, tender, excellent flavors, and generous portions. Don't miss this place

Great atmosphere and food. Service was a tad slow but still good.

I went there for a birthday brunch to listen to some music which was great! On Sunday the reggae band was good. That's what saved the mail. There was a group of us about 12. The waiter took everybody's order. I had the BLT sandwich and I ordered a nice beer to wash it down. After one set from the music most of the food came. Couple of people did not get their food at all and one person sent back their food and got their replacement and those people who didn't receive their food from the original order still didn't get their food. Very disappointed in the service. The food was good and the band was good. That's why I gave them two stars. Other than that, no accommodations were made. We asked for the manager. No one showed up at the table and the people who didn't get their food ended up leaving because we're hungry. Very disappointed after hearing such good things about their food. The entertainment was on point but everything else bad. I don't know if I'll be coming back or recommend anyone to come back if they can't handle what they advertise

Google
Best brunch spot in Boston. Great spot to watch games aswell or just to grab some food. Staff was nice and cool. Good vibes and good live music. Definitely a new favorite spot to go to. Try the Fluffernutter French Toast with Ice cream will not disappoint. Place can get really packed though sometimes and wait times can be crazy.

Empty for a Saturday Bruins match. No atmosphere, but food was great.

Yelp
This is a spacious bar that has two floors. The downstairs part I believe is a party room. There is a nice size bar on the first level. And many tables around it. We came here after a basketball play off game and when we got here it was not too crowded. But then it filled up a bit. It's not too too close to the Garden but it is walkable so people from the game came here since everything right next to the garden was packed. My friend and I had some guac and chips to share and she got the mozzarella sticks. The guac seemed good. Seemed fresh too which I was shocked about. The chips were good and my friend said the mozzarella sticks were good. We each had a beer too. They have an ok beer list. This place also has tvs so it is great place to watch sports games. In the front of the restaurant they have a little area with cozy couches and chairs too.

Yelp
Finally went for a Sunday brunch with music...been thinking about this place for a while. I've had a beer before Celtics or Bruins game but never ate here. First of all the Reggae music was great. A little load in the beginning and touch to talk during the show, but music was very good. I had the crab cake Benny and it was great, a lot of food! My date on the veggie omelet and hers wasn't as good as mine....I think she might have been upset as West End Johnnie's didn't have almond milk for her black tea. Interesting that such a popular brunch spot wouldn't have almond or non dairy milk. Service was great and next time I go, I'll be bringing a cup or small serving of Almond milk to make my better half happy. :-)

Yelp
Made a reservation to go before a concert. We ran late (traffic) and I contacted the restaurant and they immediately got back to me that my reservation was held. Sat us (4ppl) immediately. Server came over within 2 minutes. We had our drinks (mocktails) within a few minutes. She took our food order and our food came out in about 15 minutes. My husband had the salmon which was very good but a bit small of a portion and the rest of us had the pineapple chicken sandwich which was phenomenal! I had more than enough to share some with the husband! We were in and out in about 45 minutes with full bellies and very happy! Will definitely return!

Yelp
I love coming here to grab quality food & bevs before Bruins games. My group was seated in the downstairs lounge area, and it was a great vibe with a solid music playlist too. I tried the beet salad with grilled chicken and a skinny margarita to drink. The salad was actually so tasty with goat cheese and walnuts. Our service was SO quick which was great to get in and out before the game. Overall awesome experience here, will keep coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
Face it, ladies, you've compromised and agreed to go to "the game", whatever game it is, and the thing that is most problematic is eating the food in the arena. If you're going to the TD Garden, the solution is a Caesar Salad with Salmon, cooked as you like it, and an Espresso Martini at West End Johnie's. Man is happy with beer and/ir Fish & Chips, you are happy not eating whatever starch encapsulated protein passes as food at virtually any arena in the world.

Yelp
Stopped in for Pregame dinner. Always a Great place for food and drinks. Greeted by the hostess and seated at the downstairs dining area where we sat at booth. Clean, well lit, rustic retro tavern.style decor with surrounded by some of Boston's famous nostalgic historic signs from yesteryear and televisions. Awesome! Nice big bar. Wait staff was excellent. Professional, attentive, friendly, polite and courteous. Ordered the Johnnie's House burger and house marinated steak tips. All were prepared perfectly and absolutely delicious. Best place to grab pregame meal and drinks before heading to the TD Garden and pay their prices. Highly recommend West End Johnnie's. Will definitely be back very soon.

Yelp
My review is based solely on my experience at reggae brunch. The music was very good! Overall ambiance was pretty good too 2 out of the 3 dishes we had we would have again Salad with salmon (5/5) because the salmon was large, cooked and flavored well Lobster blt Benedict - (4/5) very solid..a little shy on the lobster but flavorful Chicken and waffles (2/5) was not a fan of the chicken..the spicy syrup was good though Mimosa and the mimosa with tequila were both great! Service started off strong but took a bit of a dive. For example we only had one round of mimosas and by the time he came back around it was time to go.

Yelp
The drinks were delicious. The food was good. The service was great. The music was great. The vibes were good. There's nothing to not like here. We sat at the bar and while I didn't get his name, the bartender with the goatee was so great in making my drink. He was helpful and friendly, and this place is overall great vibes.

Yelp
West End Johnnies is a great spot to grab a beer and a bite to eat before a game at the Garden. We visited before a Celtics game. It wasn't nearly as crowded as the bar/restaurants on Causeway St and the food was great. The prices are high, but given the neighborhood, that's to be expected. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Most Western spots give a dirty pub or bar vibe with bad drinks and subpar food, but West End Johnny's does a great job of making you feel like you're in a regular new American style restaurant instead of 5 feet from a giant stadium where tourists don't care what they eat or drink. Our group before ordered two of the burgers and two of the pineapple chicken sandwiches, which were all cooked perfectly and arrived, hot and swiftly. The butterfly chicken breast were very juicy and complimented the grilled pineapple perfectly. The fries were hot and crispy, although they could've done it a little bit more seasoning, which was easy with salt and pepper on the table. I'll definitely return anytime. I'm near the TF Garden again.

Yelp
Went for brunch on a holiday before a bruins game. Food was above average, good drink selection and good service. Drinks were slightly overpriced, even for Boston
google avatar

Sam N.

Yelp
TLDR: Should not have to work this hard to have a good time at a club. Went to the nightclub and not the restaurant, so keep that in mind. They charge you a cover after you've already entered, which is kinda lame. When we got there, (around 10:00) there were more bouncers than customers, and they were everywhere. Just standing around, watching. It felt like too much. The music wasn't great. The best part about this place was the bartender we had, she was quick and nice!

John D.

Yelp
Waited 2.5 hours in line to get in (my mistake, thinking they'd somehow let people in and all the other bars were even more packed) because they weren't letting people in, claiming they were at "capacity" but had friends inside telling me that both floors were pretty open, especially downstairs. When we finally got in, we noticed how open it was and concluded that the manager told the bouncers to make the line long for the appearance of having a crowd without actually having it. Also when I ordered a beer they poured it out of the glass into a plastic cup as if I'm a kid. Never giving this bar my money again.

Yelp
Excellent service. Good for basic pub food, I recommend avoiding the other stuff. Lively, sports bar atmosphere. One of my go to places prior to games at the Garden.

Harley T.

Yelp
The Food was very good we went when it was not busy at all but the server was attentive and had our food out quickly. We plan to come back in the evening to check out the night lift

Ken L.

Yelp
Bad: food, service, attitude. Even for for an events adjacent place. Second chance. There will not be a third.

Yelp
Went here for their Sunday reggae brunch. Food was wonderful but if you go.... Sit at the back of the restaurant; not by the stage. Once the band started (they were excellent BTW) we couldn't hold a conversation because we couldn't hear ANYTHING. We will definitely go back.

Jim R.

Yelp
Great spot just two blocks from TD Garden. Large open area, great bar with attentive servers and solid pub menu. Came here and had a meal before the Beanpot. So much better than the sticky floor bars right across from the Garden. Open, inviting and clean. We had the burgers, fish and chips and the grilled chicken sandwich. All were good, service was terrific and the Guinness first rate.

Yelp
I came here for their Sunday brunch, which included a live band. They had some serious island vibes going on, and I was totally with it! The food is DELICIOUS! I've been having trash French toast from the past couple of places I've gone, and this French toast is so freaking good! I also orders two sides of eggs (for $2 each, kind of lame) with cheese and onions (which they charged me for- still kid of lame). My friend got a pancake, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and toast. We each got a version of a mimosa. My food was about $20 and my friends was about $30. The food is very good, but I wasn't too happy about the prices and that they charged you for everything, again- kinda lame, but the atmosphere and food is totally worth it! Parking is ridiculous, so if you can catch a lyft I recommend that. You might get lucky and find something, but it might take you a while. We arrived around 2:30 and there wasn't a wait, and were lucky enough to still put in an order as the kitchen closes at 4 and reopens at 5.

Brendan P.

Yelp
We booked a large group reservation for on a Sunday evening (when usually closed). The restaurant took our group twenty minutes earlier than scheduled, provided EXCEPTIONAL service, and had our orders correct. This was the smoothest large group dinner I've ever booked. Kudos to John Caron and his staff for making us feel welcomed and treating us well. He even let some of our students try on his Championship ring. Next time our group comes to Boston, we will be back! Brendan P Huntington Beach, CA

Yelp
Can't wait for the pregame Beanpot Monday! I'm going to eat a half dozen steak and cheese egg rolls so get them ready guys! This place would be 4.5 stars if it wasn't for this alleged bouncer.
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Our server was pleasant and answered our questions about certain dishes. This was our second time at this restaurant. We were here before the pandemic and thoroughly enjoyed it, but things have changed! The music was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation! When I asked if it could be turned down I was told it was going to get louder because the restaurant becomes a disco later!? So I'm only giving three stars because of the loud music. The food was as good as before - the ambiance not so much.

Adrian B.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this review that I wrote 4 years ago, and read the response from the owner. I appreciate that bouncers have a difficult job, and I should not penalize an establishment for how they handle such a raucous individual. Thank you, Johnnie. I won't be back (because I'm older now and don't really enjoy the dancing/clubbing vibe anymore), but I recognize your commitment to a safe and enjoyable experience for patrons.

Yelp
Came here for the much-coveted reggae brunch. Made a reservation on OpenTable for about 1 PM because previous attempts at going had us waiting 45 minutes for brunch - ain't nobody got time for that - especially when the hangries are setting in. Anyway, was very underwhelmed with brunch. About $15-16 for the pricier entrees but an average of $12-14 lunch. Cheap boozy brunch too. Our table got 2 bottles of champagne without breaking the bank, comes with a small amount of orange juice for a DIY mimosa. We started it off with Kettle Chips which sounded interested but the 'hand cut' chips were SO thin they couldn't sustain the pineapple and bacon toppings. It was a fork and knife job. The Gorgonzola fondue was good though. I wasn't awfully hungry so I just had a lobster salad. At $15 there was a decent amount of lobster but the salad itself looked so puny. The lettuce was barely chopped - not bite-sized leaves. There wasn't much 'sweet grilled corn' as I desired. It just seemed like a handful of corn kernels at most. Only came with TWO cherry tomatoes, each one cut in half for the illusion of more tomatoes than there were. Still it satisfied me in my not-too-hungry state though. Nothing spectacular. Will got the Grilled Pineapple Burger. It looked heartier than my dinky salad. Fries were good and he seemed to really enjoy his burger. I tasted the slaw on top but it seemed pretty bland but in combination withe pineapple, it seems like it would balance the flavors out. Overall, West End Johnnies is an average bar that - loves making people wait in line at night when there's plenty of room but they don't have enough bartenders to serve their patrons - and serves average food.

Yelp
Fun place. Cool layout and friendly staff. Had a good pour and a wonderful, thick portobello burger.

Yelp
Alright. Listen up y'all, cause this is it. The food that I'm reviewing to is delicious. West End Johnnies, jiminy crickets, do you guys have my heart. Let's break it down like Will.I.Am would, only K.Chi style: Decor and Atmosphere: This place is immensely huge. I was actually stunned by the grandeur of the size. The atmosphere seems to always be churning where friends come to reunite, strangers fall in love, sports fans manhug it out, families spend quality time together, etc. It's a place for people lovers. The reggae brunch is really wonderful, and I was really grooving as I ate my meal. As the slogan says, "Great food, great drinks, great people." Food: First off, if you're not ordering truffle fries here, you're not living. I highly recommend The Benedicts come brunch time. For dinner, the Steak Frites. The meat is tender and seasoned with a compound butter and comes with crisp truffle fries sprinkled with fresh parsley on the side. The Service: Regardless of the other reviews, my service was great. My waiter was knowledgable, kindhearted, and accommodating. I always look at worker relationships at restaurants, and the staff has a genuine love for each other; they seem to treat each other like family even in the busiest of times. Also, some of the staff members are major eye candy (Ahem, ladies! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Overall, thank you WEJ.

John D.

Yelp
Unprofessional the entire staff was terrible. Wait staff was horrible, food was bad, drinks were like water. I'd recommend going to Applebee's over this place

Rose M.

Yelp
My favorite place to pre-game for the Boston Bruins!!! Always great service and great good!! Drinks spot on!! It has 2 large bars and a great little seating area with couches. Definitely a place to try !!!
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
Drinks were great. Food good except fish and chips. Batter thick and mushy around two very small pieces of fish. Avoid ordering this. And the menu selection is way smaller than that shown online.

Melly L.

Yelp
If you want Boston in a nutshell, COME HERE!!! Everyone knows about West End Johnnies. It's a local staple during and after sporting events. Inside is extremely open and can accommodate lots of people on weekends. The managers and staff are extremely nice and welcoming. Food also has a good bite. I got the pineapple chicken sandwich. It was new and refreshing!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch and there was a live band playing reggae music! The band was amazing and the music definitely was a nice touch. The hostess was able to seat our group of five and a baby even though we didn't have a reservation. Our server was attentive and accommodating to part of our group that only spoke spanish. The crab cake benedict was flavorful and the mimosas was yummy!

Yelp
This place isn't nearly as good as it looked like it could have been. I had walked by it a few times, noticing the cozy-looking atmosphere through the windows and I had high hopes for it when entering the place with two other friends an hour before the puck drop at the nearby TD Garden. Despite the time-crunch we faced, we were determined to get a decent dinner before the game - especially since eating at the TD Garden is essentially like playing russian roulette: it's completely hit or miss and more often miss than anything. The value is just terrible. But I digress, more on West End Johnnies. The atmosphere of the place is great, especially since it's spacious. The tables are all well spaced and there's a great vibe; some neat sports memorabilia and some neat furniture here and there. You aren't elbow-to-elbow here. There's two floors and when we were greeted and asked for a table, we were told that none were available but that we could downstairs to eat at the bar and we then proceeded to make our way downstairs. The lower level is actually even roomier than upstairs with a few tables spread out and a big bar in the back. We found a bunch of seats and ordered away. I got their baby spinach salad ($8) which came with cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, corn bread croutons and ranch dressing. Along with it, I had a bottled beer - I wasn't big on their selection on tap. The food came out instants later and the salad was average - the cheese was clearly right out of a plastic bag, but the big surprise was the corn bread croutons which were rather unique and actually pretty good. The portion was decently sized as well and I added grilled chicken on it at an extra charge which was a good move - I left nearly full after eating it. The menu varies greatly in price, items ranging from $12 to $24 which actually isn't too bad considering the area. Most of their appetizers are above $10 which is one of the reasons I skipped 'em, like their kettle chips which are glorified potato chips covered with a bit of onion and bacon and which are $10. Who would pay such prices? The menu is definitely imbalanced, much like our service that night. The bartender who greeted us and brought our menus seemed to lose us to another waitress who tried to take over, creating confusion amongst them (and us) and they became somewhat inattentive and disorganized. Overall the place is nice, as is the atmosphere but the menu isn't enough to keep me wanting to come back, especially since it's often packed before games and the prices of certain items is rather excessive, especially considering the quality of the food. It's a once-in-a-while on a whim kind of place for me.

Devon F.

Yelp
Where do I even start. Keep in mind this was a private event. Poor management all the way up. I had helped a friend who was pushed over, and the bouncers decided to forcibly remove me, because I tried to diffuse the situation, and security didn't like feeling powerless. They shoved me outside, and multiple bouncers pushed me across the street, begging me to punch them, calling me names etc, in hopes of me gifting them the chance to curb stomp a young "drunk," too bad for them, I wasn't drunk and I'm smarter than they think. Bouncers have black eyes, getting into fights on and off the job I assume, and just a toxic culture where they work here to get big, and prey on young intoxicated girls, as observed by two bouncers trying to grind on someone half their age and size, without her knowledge. Overall, really lame place, really unfriendly people. Get over yourself Johnnie, because the West End is not all that, to be putting on the show you and your boys have mastered so well. Pathetic 0/5 Will not be returning.

Yelp
Went there yesterday for Sunday brunch. Music was a nice surprise. It was a bit too lound for Sunday morning but is was good. Jamaican music which included some pop songs. The service was spotty surprisingly attentive and accommodating at times, then nothing. Menu was very interesting but food came luke warm. Still looking for a Sunday brunch place. Not sure if I will give it another try or not.

Yelp
I recently went to West End Johnnie's and was incredibly disappointed. When I arrived I asked the staff if there was coat check and they said no, I and my friend set our coat down for just a bit near where staff were and when we turned back all of our stuff was stolen. When I asked the staff for help they were rude and told me I should have coat checked. I totally understand I assumed the risk when setting my coat down (although I didn't think west end Johnnie's was the type of establishment where people stole. ) My frustration was in the poor communication and lack of respect and help from the staff. When I reached out to west end Johnnie's the next day to check on my coat and to express my disappointment in the treatment by staff via Facebook I was talked to in a patronizing manner saying, " jo, I don't mean to be your mom and lecture you, but I shouldn't have worn an expensive ..." They totally failed to address the poor customer service I received. I would not recommend here to anyone unless you don't mind waiting a long time to get into a half empty bar...and you don't mind dealing with rude staff when all of your stuff is stolen.

Yelp
This place is the worst. Do not come here at night on a weekend unless you want to wait in line for an hour plus even though it is empty inside. They love just holding the line outside. It's absolutely crazy. I have been here several times in the past and it's the same thing. It has been a while since we have been here so we decided to give it a try again this weekend. We arrived around 9pm and stood in line for an hour and a half and decided to get out of line and leave. It was empty inside and the line was stretched down the street. It's just horrible business and customer service. All of the people they just hold out could be buying drinks inside. I can say that I will never be back here again and I will tell people how horrible it is. No other bar in Boston is like this. It's really too bad because it's actually fun inside but it's not worth it because they don't let people in. Update: In response to the comment below. I'm very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and respect for the customer, especially coming from the owner. I take great pride in writing honest and unbiased reviews. The fact that what you wrote is simply just wrong speaks volumes about the business. I have never called, so you have the wrong person. Rather than be insulting and defensive, maybe you should look for ways to improve since there are many other reviews that mention the same thing as well as phone calls you receive apparently. The line simply does not move. It should not be quicker to go through security at the airport then it does to walk into a bar. It doesn't take a genius to look around the entire city of Boston to realize that no other place has this issue.

Yelp
West end johnnies very popular reggae brunch on Sunday's. Get there early it gets very busy but the live band is amazing and worth it. Service tends to be slow on this day so I wouldn't recommend if you have somewhere to be after. Otherwise, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is always nice. We ordered the French toast, breakfast skillet, hot mess, & the west end huevos. For drinks mimosas of course which were really good!

Alan W.

Yelp
The 3 of us had dinner here before a Celtics game. Busy night but we had beers in the comfy seating just inside for a short wait for our table. Steak tips, burger and fish and chips were all the greatest quality and delicious. Incredible ambience; not an impersonal place with absentee owners; true Boston memorabilia everywhere. The terrific owner, John, is out front, greeting customers and making sure everyone has a great experience. We will be back! That's a lock...

Yelp
UPDATE! They still hold the line for no reason! I urge you not to come here willingly. Update to the update in response to Johnnie's lie (response). Johnnie, why do you feel the need to lie to me and my fellow yelpers? You do hold the line, it's a fact and I'll go back and forth with you until you own up to this shitty ploy to make your bar look more desirable. I've been to countless bars in Boston and have never waited an hour+ to get in. Not even your friends at the harp after an event at the garden. Your bar has become the punchline in our friend group. Friend 1 - "Where are we going tonight?" Friend 2 - "West End Johnnies??" Friends 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9... - "LOL I'd rather take a Chara slap shot to the face" Honestly... maybe you don't want to admit to the public that you don't pay your bouncers? You force them to hold the line until some girl in a 14" dress freezes her ass off enough to offer them $20 a head to skip the line. Honest to god people I wouldn't even be surprised. There isn't a drink heavy enough or a cover band that good that will ever get me to come through those doors again. Or should I say wait in line until I get frost bite? Do. Not. Come. To. This. Establishment.

Yelp
Not worth your time and money... the chicken soup had a chicken wing spit in half for the chicken portion and a broth that top ramen would not put there name on. The waiter was so slow. The restaurant was full but not that many people. The food took forever. The Irish coffee I ordered curdled before it got to the table. Drink glasses were empty for 30 min before our waiter checked on us. Terrible service.

Some lady wording at 12:45 a Saturday night was wack. She escorted me out... I wasn't drunk. I was so annoyed. I will never go back ro this place. She gave no explanation as to why I was escorted out. I was livid. I even missed the bus back to my friends hose. 10/10 unsatisfied

Yelp
Went there this past weekend with family and friends for the Reggae Brunch and we stayed for four hours! The band was fabulous - with the exception of the female singer. Too "American Idol" for my taste. Service was a little wonky. There were times when the serve was MIA but this beautiful trans woman filled in nicely. Food was tasty: avocado with crab and scrambled egg on wheat toast was filling. The rest of the table had the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes or lobster. We were all satisfied with the meal. Desserts were also yummy-chocolate chocolate cake and creme brûlée. The bonus was their delicious martini with an alcohol soaked flower at the bottom of the glass. Sorry I can't remember the name but I posted a pic. I plan on going back to introduce others to this island Sunday brunch place.

Yelp
Came for a quick drink on a Saturday night. Pretty crowded and mostly bar room available. Tons of TVs and quick service. Not the most beers but they had some good selection, particularly Maine Beer Co. and Strong IPA.; at $10 not ridiculous for Boston. Service was fast but one complaint is the glasses were almost ice. Think they should ask the type of glass you prefer berries pouring. Seemed to turn into a club late at night and line was out the door on a cold night so might be worth it. But as far as a quick beer and to watch a game, give it a try. Not too noisy at night and very good proximity to food and nightlife in the area.

Yelp
I'm really shocked to see some of the lesser stared reviews on here to be honest as every experience I have had here, has always been amazing! I came way back in 2009 for drinks and had a good experience; again in 2014 for a group meeting that went great and also more recently a few times for more group meetups and Reggae Brunch. I've been lucky to be with a couple groups who made reservations early, and we were sat in the Red Room, which is past the bar and near the stage, but a separate room from everything else. The waitress service has been awesome, especially dealing with big groups, with lots of people coming and going [yes, we've been those obnoxious people]. Our drinks were never left empty, and the food came out all at once and has been amazing! More recently for food I ordered a Cobb Salad with chicken, and it was perfection. The chicken was grilled just right, and the salad was just the right amount. It wasn't an obnoxiously big salad that I couldn't finish, and it wasn't too small leaving me hungry for more. [and priced just right]. This past weekend, I had a Goat Cheese, Spinach, and asparagus omelet. YUM! Anyone that likes goat cheese, I can assure you this omelet was packed with it, and it tasted amazing! The asparagus was chopped up differently than I've had it in other places, and I must say, I'm definitely a fan with how it's done here! The home fries has a perfect seasoning and added a nice side to my omelet. Everyone I was with cleared their plates, and all commented on how good it tasted! Both times recently we had quite a bit of Prosecco, which is always great, and we were always given enough glasses and if we wanted OJ they brought that out as well! But this last time I got an espresso martini as well... SO yummy. The live band on Sunday is awesome, and keeps the place lively and fun. The owner has even come by a few times while we were there, checking in on everything, and has always been so accommodating! Not to mention, this place is a favorite of Boston Athletes, so you never know who you may run into :)

Yelp
Wow, was sent downstairs by hostess who said there was seating. Encountered a very rude server, who said that we should we needed to see the hostess. We told her we did. She rudely walked away when we were asking questions. Terrible service. When we ordered we asked the burger to be cut in half and they said they wouldn't do it , "it's just a thing?"

Yelp
Sunday Reggae brunch should be on your list while in Boston. It's twelve degrees Outside and with the Music and food , might as well be in St Kitts. French toast was awesome. Crunch outside and gooey inside. Great flavor. The Irish coffee specialty drink was a nice compliment to the meal. With each one the band sounded better and better.

Yelp
Came here with my family for the Villanova Game Watch and we were excited to see it crowded and decorated with Nova fans and paraphernalia! They have lots of TVs and even a big projection screen on the wall! Great food and drinks, attentive service and you HAVE to check out the wall décor by the restrooms! Don't expect to sit at a table for a late dinner, though, because they move them and transform it into a dance floor very quickly after the dinner rush. (visited 3/23/18)

Yelp
Second time at West End Johnnie's tonight, visiting prior to a hockey game at TD Garden. It was once again jammed at the bar with other hockey fans going to the game. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server, Brooke, was very friendly and efficient. Son #1 had the steak frites (skirt steak) and liked this very much. He loved the truffle fries that accompanied it. Son #2 had a burger which he really enjoyed, noting it was tasty and juicy. His fries were crisp and excellent. My steak tips were not as successful. Though tasty, I found the texture of the meat somewhat mushy. These were large pieces of meat, not traditional "tips." Some may like this, I did not. IMHO, not the best version I've had. The whipped potatoes that accompanied them, however, were excellent. While the food and experience is generally OK, there are many solid places for a pre-game meal in the area. We'll give West End Johnnie's a rest for a while.
